CHAPTER SIX

♠︎ JUNGKOOK
"I'm hungry," Jimin whined, kicking his feet in mock tantrum fashion. "Are we there yet?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes at his hyung. "Jimin-ssi, we are on a private jet. You can literally eat whatever you want. You can't possibly be hungry."
But Jimin still pouted his perfectly full lips, pushing air out of them in annoyance. "I'm bored, Jungkookie. We've been on this plane, like, forever."
This time, Jungkook didn't bother to answer, simply sighing and looking out the window. He loved Jimin, but he was a diva. And therefore, an absolute nightmare to travel with.
It had been three days since that phone call with you, and for all three of them Jungkook had thought about exactly what his strategy was going to be once he got to the island. It seemed to be the only thing he could concentrate on, despite having a million things to do between feeding Bam and wrapping up some projects and packing for this very trip.
But no. All he could think about was this.
Because when Jungkook had a goal in mind, his mindset was singular. Do anything it takes to win. Normally, it didn't take an awful lot. He was good at most sports, considered himself passable in music and arts, and on top of all that, was a quick learner, so he mastered new skills quickly.
The area of sexual exploration, however - this was uncharted territory.
So far, his strategy was as follows - arrive at the island before you, and pick Yoongi and Namjoon's brains about the best way to beat you. Yoongi had known you for forever, and the conversation you'd had a few days ago had hinted that Namjoon had been involved with you in the past. With the help of his hyungs, he might just be able to do this.
And besides, arriving first meant he had the upper hand. You would be walking into his lair, not the other way around.
"I still don't understand why we're going," Jimin continued to complain, breaking Jungkook from his line of thinking. "I thought me you and Tae were going to Tokyo for this break? Didn't we plan that weeks ago?"
"Well, yes," Jungkook conceded uncomfortably, trying to find a way to lie to Jimin without him realising. Jimin could spot a liar from a mile off. "But... it would be rude to Yoongi-hyung. He booked this for all of us as a vacation. And the other five are going, plus some of our other friends. Wouldn't it be weirder of us if we didn't go?"
Jimin seemed to grudgingly accept this, but still settled back into his seat with a muttered hungry and bored and fricking Yoongi-hyung.
"Talk about a whiny bottom," Jungkook mumbled under his breath, earning himself a death glare from Jimin and a slap on the leg, but thankfully at that moment the pilot echoed over the intercom that they were beginning their descent.
He glanced out of the window, and his jaw nearly dropped.
The jet was flying low over a sprawling island, blanketed largely by swaying fronded palm trees and outlined by a caramel border of sandy beach. The resort that Yoongi had booked was clearly the only one on this island, meaning they had the entire thing to themselves, a cluster of terracotta-roofed buildings that sat a short distance away from the beach.
Even from up here, Jungkook could see how expansive and luxurious the resort was. There were multiple swimming pools dotted around the main clump of buildings; a larger one, that some miniscule figures were swimming in right now, plus smaller rock pools and hot tubs littered around it. There even seemed to be a small set of man-made caves for him to swim through and explore. The sun beat down over the cluster of mountains at the centre of the island, and Jungkook could already imagine himself hiking and parachuting and cycling and swimming, for six long, uninterrupted weeks.
For a moment he wondered how on Earth Yoongi had afforded this - and then remembered. Sometimes, he honestly forgot they were famous.
As soon as they were off the jet, the journey was easy, a buggy coming to collect Jungkook and Jimin, while another collected their baggage. Jungkook gazed out at the palm trees rushing past as they drove to the main house, feeling the sweltering sun beat down on his face, and wondered how many different things there were here to do and explore.
Despite the anticipation of his deal with you, he couldn't help but begin to feel relaxed and content. The group had spent years now without a proper break, and all of them needed this vacation. He knew Yoongi and Namjoon were here, and Hobi and Jin were arriving tomorrow; he was unsure about Taehyung. Over the course of the six weeks, friends of all of theirs would fly in and out to spend time with them, people they had been too busy to really see when they were working.
He grinned, tilting his head up to catch the sun on his face again and closing his eyes. This was gonna be fun.
They arrived at the house in a few minutes, and Jungkook's bags were carried in by a team of flurrying valets and assistants, a drink being pressed into his hand already. He and Jimin were led through to the back of the resort house, a building of white marble and terracotta tiles, that sprawled horizontally across the island. The back of the house led them out to one of the swimming pools Jungkook had spied from the plane.
"Jungkook-ah!" came the kind, bellowing voice of Namjoon, and Jungkook grinned as he caught sight of his friend, climbing up out of the pool to come and greet him as he and Jimin rounded the corner. As Jungkook clasped hands with him, he spotted Yoongi curled up on a pool lounger in the shade, scrolling through his phone and looking entirely unbothered by the resort he himself had booked out.
It was only as Jungkook looked closer that he realised somebody else was present, and all of a sudden his stomach churned. His plan that he had been so carefully forming had gone astray.
Because a woman was slowly climbing the steps out of the pool.
At first, he thought it wasn't you. Perhaps Yoongi or Namjoon had brought someone else with them on this trip. But as you rose from the blue water, tiny droplets shimmering as they left your body and an unmistakeably loaded look on your face, he knew he couldn't be mistaken.
Immediately, he felt out of control. He hadn't expected this - he'd had literally one goal, to arrive before you, and you had already beaten him. He felt as though he was stumbling, the world turning around on its axis, and he was trying to gain his balance again.
What really did not help, was that you were so much fucking hotter than he remembered.
You were out of the pool completely before he knew it, and Jungkook felt a surge of excitement and panic through his veins, carefully crafting a calm composure as you took easy, confident steps towards him -
And then ignored him entirely.
"Hey Jiminie," you greeted, addressing the man behind Jungkook first. Jimin cheerfully greeted you back with a huge smile of surprise. Of course, he hadn't expected to see you. Your real purpose here wasn't exactly public knowledge.
It was only after exchanging words with Jimin, that you let your eyes travel to Jungkook's purposefully, locking onto his gaze. There was a mischeivous smirk on your damp lips, and Jungkook felt a surge of irritation and intensity all at once.
"Hi Kookie," you murmured, gazing at him through long, wet lashes. "Long time no see."
Jungkook swallowed.
This was going be much harder than he'd expected.
