Burst Open

*Still Hyuk's P.O.V*

I opened my eyes slowly, expecting to see the grey, dark wall of the hole. However, I blinked clearly and rubbed my eyes as I saw somthing else in front of me. Her naked back. Her body was completely naked, only covered by the blanket delicately draped over her lower back. Her body went up and down slowly as she breathed in her slumber and I let my arm fall on top of her torso.

"Min Young?" I whispered cautiously, as if the noise would make her vanish. She turned slowly, blinking herself awake, and faced me with a smile. She was so close to me, so warm.

"Morning." She smiled tiredly and I felt her hand caress my face.

I realized we were in my bed, in my room. Not in the hole. I reached out for her desperately, and hugged her tightly, she squealed.

"I missed you so much." I sighed in relief, feeling her warm breasts touch my chest. She was so soft and beautiful. "I love you."

Min Young pushed me away slightly and faced me, still enveloped in my arms.

"I didn't go anywhere." She kissed my nose and I felt her fingers play with my hair. "I think you had a nightmare."

"Yes." Was all I said, letting some tears of relief fall down my cheeks. She rubbed them away with her thumbs and smiled at me.

"469803..." She whispered in my ear.

"What?"

"469803...wake up." She whispered again.

"Mmm, Min Young it tickles."

"469803!!" She yelled in my ear.

"WHAT!" I sat up in the hard cot, startled by the yelling.

"For fuck's sake I didn't sign up for this!" Officer Nam yelled in my face. "Wake the fuck up, 469803! You have a visitor!!"

I stumbled to my feet, back inside the hole. The gray dark wall, the sink and the dirty toilet, and the cold metal door with rusty bolts. I walked up to Officer Nam, the man who has been feeding me slices of bread and porridge, the man who is slowly getting rid of my identity. He glared at me and I looked away, too tired to annoy him further.

"Who came?" I said in a very excited voice. Please let it be Min Young.

"Lawyer Higgins." He said bitterly as he closed the door behind him. We started walking to the meeting room. But I stopped.

I will protect her......Even if it means staying here forever.

"Tell him I don't want to make a statement." I said solemnly. "Can I go back to sleep now? For the first time I was having  good dream."

"Do you think I fucking care about your dreams? Serves you right you have nightmares." Officer Nam spat and crossed his arms. "Lawyer Higgins said this was very important, he's got news."

I sighed and followed him reluctantly to the meeting room. Still, I won't say anything, I can't. After a small walk we got to the meeting room, Officer Nam opened the door for me.

"1 hour." And he closed the door behind me.

I looked at Lawyer Higgins defiantly. A young man, probably older by 3 or 4 years. He was wearing a fancy suit and carried a suitcase with him. He signaled for me to sit and fixed his bowtie as I did.

"Higgins, I won't--"

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." He interrupted with a sigh, leaning towards me. "I have news. We're trying to make a deal with the prosecutor, although it got changed to Mr. Byung Do."

I scoffed. That bastard.

"I want to be honest with you, Mr. Lee." Higgins drank from his cup of water. "Your case is looking very bright. You see, I...I have a...contact, yes,  a contact who can support the opening of a case against...whoever did this to you. You just need to make a statement for the case to open and be willing to attend as witness. We have lots of evidence so--"

"You already know then, don't you? Whoever this person that did this to me is." I chuckled and saw him take another sip from his water cup. "No matter what happens I'll still stay here, in the hole."

Higgins's face brightened and a goofy smile formed on his lips.

"Now that's where you are wrong." He said with joy. "You see, whoever did this to you has some secrets...I'm sure, since, haha I don't know who did this to you. But my contact has a lot of evidence against that person, since you would serve as a witness and support the case so that that person can go to...the hole, you'll have complete immunity and walk away as a free man."

My eyes widened at the thought. To walk away from the hole as a free man, completely immune and unrelated to Mr. K...to be able to be a man good enough for Min Young.

Min Young...no way. I can't let her get hurt.

"Well why doesn't your contact open a case? You said he has enough evidence, and even then, how can you make me a free man so easily?" I sighed in doubt. "Don't waste my time Higgins. I was having a good dream before you came."

"My contact has lots of connections in the police force, that's all you need to know." He crossed his arms and I knew I wouldn't be able to get anything else about his supposed contact from him. "And...It's complicated. Mr.--I mean, whoever did this to you can never know my contact is involved with this. He holds...many responsabilities. Anyways! You just have to make a statement against that person! Tell me everything and you'll be automatically immune! It's perfect!"

I rolled my eyes at him, yet I was annoyed with myself. It was the perfect deal, just confess everything and go back home, easy. But I also know...he'll know if I say something...and he will hurt her. I will do anything to protect her. Even if it means staying here forever.

"Listen, Higgins," I sighed and his smile erased from his face, "whoever your contact is won't tell anything because there must be someone he's protecting. That's what I'm doing too. You have no idea what that person in capable of doing. I'm sorry, and thank you, but I'm not making a statement."

I turned around to stand up but he spoke.

"Is the person you are protecting...Detective/Lawyer Man Min Young?" He said in a monotone.

I looked at him, my eyes widening and my heart beating faster, I felt my stomach sink and cold sweat form on my neck. I cleared my throat.

"...No." It sounded like a lie even to me. It was a lie too.

Higgins sighed annoyed and pulled something out of his pocket. I felt my heart sink as a bad feeling crept its way into my mind.

"Well, whether it was her or not...I'm afraid it doesn't matter anymore." He looked into my eyes and I felt his cold stare push my heart lower, the bad feeling creeping inside me. "Last night a freezer was dropped in front of SJ Offices."

I didn't need to hear anything else. Memories of the freezers in the hotel came back into my mind as if a door burst open. The sound it made when I opened it, the disgusting stench and copper taste invading my body...and the body parts.I felt my body paralyze and going into shock, yet Higgins kept talking.

"The contents were...cut up. Her legs were missing but her head was recognizable, it was her, Mr. Lee." He put down 4 photographs on the table but I forced my eyes not to look at them. "She's dead." 

His last words forced my eyes back down and I stared at the picture. It was her, alright, her severed head made me remember the stench and it invaded my body once again. I turned around and let all the disgust and fear inside me pour out onto the floor. Something was wrong with her face, it was cut up, she had lots of cuts...but then again nothing was right about her. She was gone.

Tears escaped my eyes and I wailed with anger and fear. I sobbed, remembering her smile, her face, her body, her warmth, her moans, her voice, her laugh, her eyes, and slowly everything was replaced with red.

Higgins was putting away the pictures and I just kept on wailing, but then his face came into my mind. My wailing turned into angry grunts as my body became overcome by rage. I WILL NOT LET YOU GET FUCKING AWAY WITH THIS.

"I'll leave you to mourn." In all my rage I didn't notice Higgins heading to the door, fixing his bowtie nervously. Yet before he could take another step I ran to him and grabbed his arm tightly. He flinched and winced looking up at me.

"I'll make a statement."
