Chapter 37

DIGGY’S P.O.V.

I held her close to me and observed her body. She was blooded, battered, beaten  and literally lifeless… I put her head on my legs as I was on the ground and I softly cried, praying that she was okay.. days of anguish and fear led to this..

*at the hospital*

Jordan- *walks out*

Kendall- *rushes to him* What did they say?

Jordan- She’s hooked onto a machine.. she’s unconscious

Diggy- *jaw drops*

Kendall- What?

Jordan- She’s unconscious. They said her injuries were so severe that they knocked her out.. she’s not waking up

Diggy- *looks down* *holds his face in his hands*

Kendall- This is crazy..

Jordan- That’s my daughter… *cries and hides his face*

Kendall- *hugs him comfortingly*

*later that week*

I insisted on staying at the hospital for some more days even though the doctors were advising me to go home, I didn’t unless it were to look after Harley. Jordan and Kendall stayed with us too. We told her mom Michelle and Dante that we found her. But we didn’t want anyone else to be here at the hospital. The smaller, the better and the more private too. 

I stayed by Y/N’s bed. She had so many bruises on her face. Cuts and injuries all over her body. We were told she’d been hit with something hard and possibly metal, cut with blades and there were deep rope burns on her wrists and ankles… she’d literally been tortured. Her heart rate was slow but she was unresponsive apart from that…

*that night*

Kendall- *walks in* Dig…

Diggy- *looks at her* What is it?

Kendall- You have to go home.. I’m on watch now. *hands him a coffee*

Diggy- *shakes his head a little* I’m not leaving..

Kendall- *sighs* You’re tired. You’ve been here everyday, Diggy you can’t beat yourself up about this.. she’s here now. She’s fine

Diggy- I know that. But I wanna be here when she wakes up.. whenever she does.

Kendall- The doctor said that it won’t been for a few days that she wakes up. Come on..

Diggy- I can’t go home without her Ken

Kendall- Aria and Jordan are at the house too.. they said they’d take care of you. 

Diggy- Kendall…

Kendall- You know I’m right. You’re exhausted and you need to rest. Don’t worry, I’m here. I’ll call you if anything happens, you know I will.

Diggy- *thinks and sighs* Okay, I’m going.. *gets up and leaves* 

*a few days later*

KENDALL’S P.O.V.

Me and Jordan were better knowing that Y/N was safe, recovering and in the hospital.. but it was clear that Diggy was still broken. I’d tried a lot to get him to be calm about it, but nothing really worked. He halfishly went back to his old self with the way he dressed, he was well-rested and eating a lot more lately.. but emotionally he was lost.

Aria- I think you’ll all be fine, right?

Jordan- Yeah I think so.. *hugs her*

Kendall- *to Harley* Go to Diggy!

Hasrley- *runs to Diggy and barks*

Diggy- *looks at the dog* *looks away*

Harley- *tilts his head at Diggy*

Kendall- *walks over to him* He knows what’s up…

Diggy- *glances at Harley* Does he?

Kendall- *sits next to him* Yeah. Dogs are good at sensing emotions

Harley- *rests his head on Diggy*

Diggy- *looks down at Harley*

Kendall- I don’t know what he’s trying to say.. but he doesn’t like when you’re sad…

Diggy- *strokes the dog*

Kendall- I taught him some tricks..

Bye baby..Diggy- *looks at her* You did?

Kendall- *nods* Harley.. sit.

Harley- *sits on the ground*

Kendall- Roll over…

Harley- *rolls over*

Kendall- *laughs and claps* High five..

Harley- *lifts his paw*

Kendall- *high fives him* *laughs*

Diggy- That’s pretty cool…

Kendall- Have fun.. he’s a good dog. Teach him some more stuff or something…

Aria- Bye dad.. come on Kendall!

Kendall- *walks over to her* I’m here..

Diggy- Tell us if anything happens..

Aria- Of course.. *leaves with Kendall*

*at the hospital* 

Nurse- Something happened…

Aria- What? What happened?

Nurse- *opens the door*

Aria- *squeals* Sister!! *runs over and hugs you*

Y/N- *closes your eyes* Ow, ow… you know I’m hurt!

Aria- *lets go of you* *laughs* I’m sorry… I’m so happy you’re awake..

Nurse- She woke up asking for Diggy and Aria..

Aria- That’s me *smiles*

Kendall- Oh I see… *looks away*

Y/N- Sorry Ken.. *spreads her arms out*

Kendall- *hugs you* I’ve missed you. So much.

Nurse- As you know, she was knocked unconscious.. now you have to be careful. You have a lot of injuries to your body.. especially your back and legs and the bruises and swellings on your face have gone down.. but you have to be careful.

Y/N- I know..

Nurse- We can’t let you out until tomorrow. We have to run some more tests..

Y/N- Okay, that’s cool… thank you

Nurse- *leaves*

Kendall- *hugs you* I’ve missed you so fucking much.. I can’t believe this!

Y/N- I really don’t wanna talk about what happened.. I can’t remember most of it..

Aria- *put her hand on your shoulder* You sure you’re okay?

Y/N- I’m better now…

Aria- What did she do to you?

Y/N- Can I please not talk about it?

Aria- Alright.. she can’t hurt you anymore. The police told us she was already out of the country and looking for her..

Kendall- She got away.. but don’t worry, she’s never coming back.

Y/N- *nods a little* It even hurts to nod.. *puts her hand on her head* And my head is spinning like crazy…

Aria- *hugs you tight* I’m so glad my baby sis is okay…

Y/N- *smiles*

DIGGY’S P.O.V.

Diggy- *runs in the room* Baby! *stops and sees you sleeping*

Y/N- *snores*

Diggy- *turns around to Jordan* *points at you* You see this?

Jordan- *laughs and sits down*

Diggy- *sits on the bed* *watches you sleep*

Y/N- *wakes up slowly* I thought I could sense someone watching me…

Diggy- How do you even do that?

Y/N- I just..

Diggy- *hugs you tight*

Y/N- Ah! Okay, ow… ow Diggy!!

Diggy- *lets go of you* What?

Y/N- Your hugs are hurting me..

Diggy- Sorry *kisses your head*

Y/N- *looks at Jordan* Dad..

Jordan- *walks over and hugs you* My little girl..

Y/N- *tear falls* I was so scared..

Diggy- What did she do?

Y/N- She beat me, hurt me, cut me, hit me… I’m in so much pain..

Jordan- When can you come home?

Y/N- Tomorrow after they do some more tests…

Diggy- *hugs and holds you gently* I’ve missed you.. you had no idea what I’d been through.. what we’ve all been through. 

Y/N- *holds him* I’m sorry about it

Jordan- You missed what Di…

Diggy- *looks at him* No, don’t say it..

Y/N- *confused* Don’t say what? *looks at them both*

Diggy- I was so scared.. and you missed the big dinner date we were gonna have..

Y/N- I’m sorry..

Diggy- It’s not your fault. Don’t worry about it..*sighs and holds you*

*days later*

DIGGY’S P.O.V.

Y/N- *chuckles* Mom. I’m fine..

Michelle- I can’t believe my poor baby went through all that.. *looks at Jordan* I told you that woman was crazy.. you didn’t believe me for all those years..

Jordan- I thought you were just jealous..

Michelle- *scoffs and laughs* Me? 

Jordan- *laughs and shakes his head*

Michelle- *hugs you tight*

Y/N- Ow! Seriously.. *breaks away* Everyone’s gotta stop doing that…

Michelle- I’m sorry baby, I missed you so much. I’m so glad you’re home.. how long until you’re healed?

Y/N- *shrugs* All I know is that I have to stay home and work from here…

Michelle- Work? You just came out of unconsciousness.. you need rest and a lot of therapy..

Y/N- I don’t care what your psychology degree said, I don’t need the therapy mom!

Michelle- I’m gonna have to force you huh?

Y/N- Please don’t..

Michelle- I want you to get better. You have to confront what happened..

Y/N- And mentally I have. I don’t wanna talk about this anymore, really, I don’t. Can’t I just forget it and move on?

Jordan- *holds Michelle’s shoulders* You’ll never win so just…

Michelle- *pauses* Fine.. whatever my baby wants.. 

Diggy- *walks over* Hey are you okay?

Y/N- I’m fine.. okay? Don’t worry about me, I’m good. just a little sore..

Michelle- Where?

Y/N- *looks at Diggy* 

Diggy- *laughs*

Michelle- Oh God *covers her eyes*

Y/N- Not there mom! We haven’t since.. My back is just really aching..

Michelle- Well, let’s go and sit down and get you away from Diggy… *rolls her eyes and smiled*

Diggy- *chuckles*

Jordan- We’re gonna do it again?

Diggy- Yeah again and soon. We need everybody here and it has to be bigger than before..

Jordan- Got it. 

*a few weeks later*

YOUR P.O.V.

I was getting better and it was happening a lot faster than I thought.. My back was barely as sore as it was before and the doctor gave me this healing cream that wold help the bruises and swells on my legs and face. Diggy didn’t stop showering me with attention either and he was always making sure I had what I needed…

Diggy- *hands you a magazine and a plate* And here’s this month’s issue of Elle and some watermelon…

Y/N- *chuckles* You’re too much you know..

Diggy- I’d do anything so you’re better. Plus we’re going out tonight.. *sits on the bed beside you*

Y/N- Really?

Diggy- *nods* I’ll be outside at eight in my new car..

Y/N- *confused* What new car?

Diggy- Can’t I buy myself a Bentley?

Y/N- You bought a Bentley? Are you okay?

Diggy- *laughs* I’m good.. I just wanna take you out tonight. It’s gonna be great

Y/N- But what am I gonna do with my hair… *pulls at your hair and pouts*

Diggy- You can wet it and have it curly.. or you can make it straight…

Y/N- Or keep it like this, horrible and fluffy…

Diggy- *brushes his hand through your hair* It’s still lovely..

Y/N- Yeah if the homeless look is what I’m aiming for

Diggy- Don’t be stupid. You know I love whatever you look like..

Y/N- Even when I’m bruised and there’s blood on my face?

Diggy- Yes.. because it means I have to love you even more to make sure you’re okay…

Y/N- *smiles*

*that night*

Y/N- *gets in the car* 

Diggy- You look amazing. You’re wearing that dress I gotchu before

Y/N- *smiles* Yeah, it’s so pretty, besides that, where are we going?

Diggy- Somewhere special, you’ll see. *starts the car and drives off*

*half an hour later*

Diggy- *takes his hand off your eyes* Open!

Y/N- *opens your  eyes*

Everyone- *shouts* Surprise!

Y/N- *laughs and smiles* Oh my God..! What is all this?

Aria- It’s a party for you.. you deserve it..

Y/N- Really?

Aria- Yes, really.. *drags you to the table* Diggy rented out this whole restaurant for you…

Y/N- *looks at him* You did?

Diggy- Yeah.. it needed to be special

I sat down at one of the enormous table at the restaurant. It was huge. Everyone was sat on Three huge tables and food was eventually brought out to us at Diggy’s request. I sat with my sister, brother and Diggy and our parents sat on the tables either side of ours. 

The food was amazing and Diggy and everyone make a speech about me and how much they so-called loved and adored me… it was embarrassing at the start but eventually I loved it..

Kendall- You’re probably the most fun person I’ve ever worked with. I’ve never had so much fun on a shoot with someone as I’ve had with you…

Y/N- *smiles* Aw Ken..

Kendall- You’re the best friend I could ever ask for and I’m glad you’re in my life and that I’ve gotten to know you, Kumi and Aria… *sits down*

Y/N- *holds her hand* Thanks Ken…

Diggy- And now for mines.. I’m sure everyone knows why we’re here… except Y/N of course

Y/N- *looks at him* Huh?

Diggy- Babe, when I met you, you were a city girl, loved Mocha coffees, had this lil attitude and sense of humour.. you caught my eye the first time I saw you. I’ve grown to know you and I know that… You’re so so stupid.

*everyone laughs*

Diggy- And clumsy, a bit forgetful too… But so amazing. I actually thought I’d lost you all those weeks ago in something that was so freaky and scary to me.. I thought you were gone but I’m glad you’re here, okay?

Y/N- *smiles* Okay

Diggy- *kisses your cheek*

Kendall- *starts to applaud*

*everyone claps for you*

*later on*

*At Last by Etta James starts to play*

Y/N- *looks at him* Baby, this is our song..

Diggy- *smiles and reaches his hand out* Can I have this dance?

Y/N- Sure.. *holds his hand*

He led me to the floor and danced with me. Our hand together, his arm around my waist and my hand on his left shoulder. He looked at me so lovingly and it was amazing what he’d done tonight…

Y/N- So all those weeks ago, this is what you planned to do?

Diggy- *chuckles* Yeah this is what I wanted to do until you got taken away from me…

Y/N- I promise that won’t happen again..

Diggy- *stops dancing* *signals to stop the music*

Aria- *turns down the music*

Diggy- That’s not all I was gonna do..

Y/N- *pauses and looks at everyone looking* Okay, now you’re scaring me..

Diggy- *looks at you and holds your hands* Y/N you’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. No one in the world can replace you and I want you in my life..

Y/N- *jaw drops a little*  D-Diggy, what are you doing..

Diggy- Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.. *gets on his knees*

Y/N- *freezes* Oh my God, what are you doing?

Diggy- *pulls out a ring* I’m gonna ask you something and I pray that you’re the only girl I ask in my whole life… Y/N will you marry me?

*everyone looks at you*

Y/N- *gasps a little* Yes, of course..!

Diggy- *slides the ring on your finger* *stands up and kisses you*

*everyone stands up and applauds*

Diggy- *breaks kiss* Finally..

Y/N- *cries tears of joy* I’m engaged..!

Aria- *rushes over to hug you*

Kendall- *looks at the ring* That ring is huge…

Jordan- *hugs Diggy* Congratulations…

Diggy- *smiles* Thanks

Michelle- My baby’s engaged! *hugs you tight*

Y/N- *squeezes her eyes* *looks at Diggy and laughs a little*

Diggy- *laughs*

*later that night*

DIGGY’S P.O.V.

Diggy- *looks at you* Everybody’s gone home..

Y/N- Yeah.. tonight was wonderful, thank you. *looks at her ring*

Diggy- *holds your hand* You’re welcome. I’m one step closer to calling you wifey…

Y/N- *sighs* I knew I shoulda said no..

Diggy- *laughs* Wanna dance?

Y/N- Sure

We both got up and returned to the space in the restaurant to dance. I grabbed the remote and turned on the stereo. Etta James’s voice echoing through the restaurant and soothing our ears…

I looked at Y/N as I danced with her. Her brown hair was to her shoulder and straightened, her black dress making her look every inch the woman I’d wished for and her eyes sparkled as they looked into mine. We danced the night away in the empty restaurant. The smell of Italian food in the kitchen, our bodies slowly swaying in tune, our fingers intertwined and the atmosphere was calm, sensual and loving.

We were engaged. I’d been waiting to call her fiancée for the longest… and now I could.
