Chapter Four: Wisconsin Girl in London With an Irish Boy

02:02, 31 October 2012

Kayla's POV

I swipe my straightener through my silky, light brown hair one last time placing the straightener back on the bathroom counter top and unplugging it from the wall. I run my fingers through my hair that was once decided to be classified as dirty dish water blonde by my hairstylist Kristen when we were trying to figure out if i'm just a really dark blonde or a really light brunette. I smile at myself in the mirror remembering that memory.

I walk outside of the bathroom and onto the soft carpet of the rest of the room. I grab my make up bag off the dresser top and walk in front of the mirror. I look over the outfit Anabelle and I decided on and nod my head knowing it was a really good choice. I plop down onto the carpet in front of the mirror while opening up my make up bag spreading out it's contents.

I don't know why I packed this much make up when I rarely use half of this stuff I packed. Actually, I probably don't even know how to use most of it. Most of the time I just wear mascara because that's all I really need. Sometimes i'll use eyeliner for something a little extra but not very often.

I do my typical mascara routine to make my lashes look the models in the magazines. I shove all of the make up back in the bag and just stare at myself in the mirror for a few seconds admiring how good I look tonight. I stand up and strike a pose in the mirror showing off my outfit.

My phone buzzes on the nightstand and I instantly set my make up bag back on the dresser and grab my phone. I unlock the screen and check my messages thinking that it's probably Niall. I smile at the screen when I see it is from Niall.

Hey. I'm almost

  there. You ready? :)

I lay back on the bed with my legs dangling off and type back:

Yes! On my way

  down now.

I grab my wristlet off the nightstand and stuff my phone inside. I go by the mirror and finger comb my hair one last time. "Who ever thought you would go on a date with Niall," I say to my reflection in the mirror.

I leave my hotel room and go down the hallway into the elevator. The elevator doors open up right away when I hit the button for them. I enter in the elevator and stand next to an elderly lady. She looks at me and smiles, "You look nice dear, is this for anything special?"

"Actually for someone special," I say beaming.

"Ohh, well he is a lucky man then," she replies.

"I'm the lucky one. I get to go on a date with a guy I had a crush on since I was 16. He literally didn't even know I existed," I explain.

"I bet he can't stop thinking about you know," she says, then adding in,"being a girl as pretty as you I think it would be hard for a guy not to think about you all the time." The elevator doors open and she gets out ahead of me. She turns around and says, "Good luck dear."

"Thank you," I say smiling from the confidence she has given me. I stop and wonder to myself if she's right about Niall always thinking about me. I wish to myself that it is true.

I walk over to the revolving doors and exit the hotel. I see Niall leaning against the smooth wall of the hotel. I smile at how cute he is. He brushes his fingers through his hair and I practically melt. He spots me and his face brightens up.

I stroll over by him smiling the entire time. He opens his arms and embraces me into a hug. "Hey, how are you?" he sweetly asks.

"I'm great, you?" I respond.

"Everything is great now that it's time for my date with you," he flirtily says.

"Speaking about our date, what are we doing since it's such a surprise," I ask.

"It's still a surprise," he responds.

"Is it a surprise or is it you just haven't figured out what to do and was just planning to go with it," I question.

"Option two," he says and then laughs. "I was thinking we could just walk around and explore London since this is your first time in London."

"I can definitely handle that," I reply excited for this date.

Niall reaches out for my hands and I grab it intertwining my fingers with his. We begin walking down the street following the flow of the crowd. He points out a few small restaurants, cafes, and shops telling me if they are any good or not. He shares a few London insiders secrets and tips about the places too.

We see this costume shop and we pull aside to look at the shop window displays. "I wonder what you would look like in that?" I say with a smile pointing to a pink sequin cowboy outfit.

He laughs and says, "Probably not as good as how you'll look in that fat suit," pointing through the glass window.

"Lets find out!" I exclaim grabbing his hand pulling him along with me into the shop.

I open the door and a bell rings signaling we are here. We go right to the costume aisles looking through all the different costumes together. Niall picks up a pink boa and wraps it around my neck, "You look good in pink feathers."

I smile,"Just like how you look good in pink sequins," holding up the cowboy outfit I found earlier. "You have to try this on for me!"

He laughs and grabs a Tinkerbell costume, "As long as you try this on for me."

"Deal!" I exclaim as he hands me the fairy costume and I give him the cowboy one.

We walk over to the changing rooms together and he walks into one and I walk into the one next to his. I shut the door behind me and start to change into the Tinkerbell outfit. I hear him laughing at himself in the room next to mine, "What's so funny over there?"

"You'll just have to wait and see!" he says over the top of the dressing room wall.

I put my clothes in a pile on the chair in the corner and smooth out my green dress. I pick my wand up and walk out of the dressing room. Niall still hasn't come out yet, "What's taking you so long?" I ask.

"Have you ever tried putting on extremely tight pants?" he exclaims.

I laugh and say, "Actually I have. It's called being a girl and wearing skinny jeans. Try jumping around like a penguin, it helps."

I can hear him jumping around in there and I smile. He laughs as the knob turns for the dressing room door and he comes out, "You were right, that does help". I burst out laughing as he stands there sparkling from the pink sequins. "How do I look?" he says putting his hands on his hips and posing.

"You look hot! Sparkly looks good on you," I say still trying to control my laughter.

Niall puts his hands on my waist and pulls me closer turning me around so my back is pressed up against him. We face a mirror and he smiles sticking his head over my shoulder, "You make an amazing fairy. Cutest fairy i've ever seen!"

I blush slightly and then say in a white trash voice, "We are some sexy ass people!"

"Finest people in London!" he adds in copying my white trash voice.

I turn around and look at his pants laughing, "Those pants are really tight on you!"

"But they make my bum look just as good as yours," he says with a smirk.

I turn my head around looking in the mirror at my booty in this dress. I put one hand on my hip and the other behind my head posing, "It does look good in this," I say smiling.

Niall grabs his phone and pulls me close to him, "I got to get a picture of this," he says with his cute Irish accent.

I do the famous Tinkerbell pose where she is on her tip toes pointing the wand downwards granting a wish while he pretends he's throwing his hat with one hand while holding his phone in the other hand. We take a few more pictures laughing at all the hilarious poses we come up with. For the last one he pulls me close to him with his arm around my waist. I wrap my arms around his neck as he takes the picture.

He looks at his phone screen and smiles, "Perfect."

We go back into the changing rooms and change back. I can tell he's struggling to get those pants off from how much noise is going on over there. I get back into my normal clothes and come out of the dressing room hanging the Tinkerbell costume up on a rack with other tried on but no good costumes.

After a few minutes he comes out and hangs his costume up besides mine, "I applaud all girls who have to go through taking skinny jeans on and off. No wonder they are called skinny jeans, you can lose a pound by trying to take them on and off."

I laugh, "I remember all the guy gym teachers I had who just never understood why the girls need more time to change. Even when we kept telling them to try putting on skinny jeans and see how long it takes them."

"If I was a gym teacher I would give the girls a ton of time to get into those jeans!" he exclaims as we navigate our way through the aisles of the store until we reach the exit. He opens the door for me like a true gentlemen and I walk out in front of him. Niall reaches for my hand and comes close to me while we continue to walk along the sidewalk.

"You would make the best gym teacher ever. Besides, every teenage girl always wants a hot young gym teacher."

"So you think i'm hot, huh?" he says with a smirk which makes him look like a sex god.

"Let's just say I think you being hot is an understatement," I admit honestly.

He smirks and runs his fingers through his hair which makes him even hotter. "Then let's just say however hot you think I am times 5 is how gorgeous I think you are," he claimed.

"Put us together and we must be hotter than the sun," I jokingly say showing the confidence I have in myself.

Niall laughs while pulling me closer to his side. "You hungry?" he ask. His blue eyes glisten as they stare into my brown ones.

I smile thinking of all the Niall food and Nandos jokes I have read and tweeted about on Twitter. "Now that I think about it I am," I mention remembering that I only had a small snack for dinner since I was too busy preparing for this date.

"How do smoothies sound? There is this really good smoothie place a little ways down," he shares.

"Smoothies sound perfect!" I say trying to remember the last time I had a smoothie.

We continue walking along with the rest of the crowd on the sidewalks. We are still holding hands and whenever his arm comes closer to mine and touches my heart beats even faster. I keep sneaking glances of him as we walk not wanting to take my eyes off of him. The warmth from his hand warms up my whole body making me get the butterflies in my stomach feeling.

"Here we are," Niall says as he stops and opens up the door for us.

I walk inside onto the white and black checker board tile floors still not letting go of his hand. The smoothie place is so cute with it's 50's style theme but except for red it's like the colors you find in smoothie. The booths alternating colors from light pink, to  banana yellow, to a cotton candy blue.

There are a few people scattered sitting at booths but no one in line. We stand back away from the ordering counter looking up at the menu of all the different flavors.  "I did not know there was this many smoothie flavors," I say leaning into him as I look up at the list of all the things I could get.

"I recommend Strawmon Berry. It's strawberry, lemon, and blue berry," he advises leaning his head closer to my ear.

"How did you know that strawberries, lemons, and blue berries are all my favorite fruit?" I ask with a smile.

"I'm Irish, lucky guess," he smirks, his Irish accent sticking out more than usual. He wraps one arm my waist while I lean into him.

"I remember when I was younger I had to put strawberries, lemon slices, and blue berries into the same bowl when I ate them. When my dad asked why I told him because I thought they looked pretty together. Ever since I started doing it that way I've never stopped. They always have to go in the same bowl," I say smiling at the memory of me and my dad.

He smiles as he looks down at me with his gorgeous blue eyes, "Wanna split one then?"

"As long as your not like my sister who drinks the entire thing," I say feeling the warmth from his body as I lean against it.

He laughs and a worker appears and goes over by a register waiting to take our order. We both walk closer to the counter together still keeping our bodies close to one another. I lean against the counter as he keeps his body right behind me.

"Hello, how may I help you today?" the worker says with a strong British accent. Her hair has many flyways sticking out of her uniformed hat signifying she's had a busy day.

"We would like a extra large Strawmon Berry smoothie to split, please," he orders. He even looks cute when he's ordering food I think to myself as I watch him.

"Would you like bendy straws or a regular straws?" the worker asks us.

"You seriously have to ask that question! Oh my god, why wouldn't a person want a bendy straw?" I ask surprised.

Niall and the worker both laugh and he tells her, "Bendy straws it is then!"

I try to think of why a person wouldn't want a bendy straw since neither of them came up with a reason of why you wouldn't. I came up with maybe it's a British thing. The cashier continues to press buttons finishing up our order as Niall hands her some cash to pay for it.

The worker goes back and starts putting together the smoothie. She comes back with a huge clear cup full of the dark magenta smoothie. "Here you go," she says as she hands it the cup to Niall then adding it, "Have a good night."

"Thanks," Niall says with his adorable smile.

"You too," I add in before we both turn around and walk over by the booths. We sit down at a light blue booth over by the window.

Niall sets the cup down in the middle of both of us and says, "Try it!"

I lean into the smoothie cup claiming the lime green straw and take a huge sip. It taste even better than what I thought it would. I pull away from the cup, "That is really good!"

"It's one of my favorite," he says and then he goes in and takes a long sip. I smile as I stare at how perfect his blonde hair is. "Speaking about favorites, let's get to know each other. What's your favorite color?"

I instantly wonder how much I already remember reading about him. This is my chance to find out if what I read if true or not, "Blue, but I also love neon colors like hot pink and lime green."

"Blue is mine too," he says confirming to me that it's not green or yellow like I remember reading from some internet sites.

"Favorite drink?" I ask taking another long sip from the smoothie looking up at him waiting for an answer.

"Coke or water, yours?" he answers.

"I could live off of water. My dad would yell at me for having too many water bottles in my room," I babbled remembering all the times I got in trouble because of it.

He laughs, "How many water bottles do you need at once?"

"3 or 4 is a pretty good amount to have stored in my room," I admit laughing at how stupid my water obsession is. "I remember on my eighth grade Washington D.C. field trip on our way back I forgot I had a water bottle in my bag. My friend recorded me begging security to let me keep it because I bought it at that airport because our plane was delayed. I had to drink it all before they let me through," I recalled.

"No way! I argued with security for a half an hour to let me bring food with on the plane. They made me throw it out," Niall admitted reminding me of the fact I read on tumblr. Another fact I remembered about him has now been confirmed true.

I laugh and take another sip of the half empty smoothie. "Favorite restaurant?" I ask already knowing the answer but unable to come up with another question.

He doesn't even hesitate when he exclaims, "Nando's!" with an adorable grin.

"I've heard of it but have never been there. The closest one to my house is 12 hours away." I respond running my fingers through my hair.

He pulls away from his straw and gasp, "You've never to Nando's? That should be illegal to have it that far away!"

I smile, "I was actually planning on going while I was here in London."

"Maybe I'll have to take you," he says with his blue eyes sparkling at me as he goes in for another sip of the smoothie.

"Does that mean your already asking me on a second date before our first one is even over?" I question.

"Why yes, I am," he says cheekily with a smirk that could make an iceberg melt.

"Well then I guess we are going to Nando's together next time," I say excited that we already have a second date.

We both go in for the smoothie at the same time. I look down trying not to look at him since it would be kind of awkward. I sneak glances though and can see Niall is looking at me. We finish the smoothie together and Niall takes the cup and gets up to throw it away.

I get up and follow closely behind him as he heads over to the exit and opens the door for me. We continue walking down the sidewalk and Niall reaches for my hand again and I give it to him. "Middle name?" he asks after he intertwines his fingers with mine.

"Leigh. Spelled L-e-i-g-h," I answer so he knows it's not spelled Lee like most people think.

"James," he answers without me even asking.

"That's my dad's name, well his real name. He goes by Jake, and his mom calls him Jim. He just has a lot of nicknames," I babble.

He laughs, "My dad is just Bobby."

"My mom's name is Janelle." I say.

"My mother's name is Maura." he responds.

"Favorite movie?" I ask him as we cross the street walking into a park where it's less crowded.

"Grease," he answers without hesitation,"Yours?"

"I honestly can not pick. Maybe The Ugly Truth or Crazy,Stupid, Love. Or The Notebook and The Titanic. And don't forget The Hangover."

He laughs, "Big movie fan?"

"Love them! I could watch them all day!" I exclaim.

"Me too! Movie night after Nando's?" he ask with a smile.

"Of course!" I say now even more excited about the second date we already have planned.

"Do you do any sports?" he then asks.

I smile proud of the answer I have, "All star cheerleader on a national winning team."

"So you can do flips and stuff?" he excitedly wondered.

"Every time I tell people I do all star cheer they always say "So you can do flips and stuff". Every. Single. Time," I laugh.

"You should show me!" he says stopping in his tracks in the middle of the pathway in the park.

"Right here?!" I squealed.

"Yeah! There is room for you to do it here," he says pulling me over to the green grass with him.

I look around, "What if people see," I ask nervous about falling since I haven't tumbled in the past two weeks. This is the first time ever since I started cheer that I haven't tumbled every week. I'm too old for the team now but I still sometimes go in to tumble since the coach let's past girls come in whenever they want.

"No one's around! And if people come they'll just think your awesome," he says acting like a kid in a candy store.

I laugh, "Fine," and he instantly smiles. I quickly add in, "But I need to warm up first."

He plops down in the cool grass and says, "Take your time," with his blue eyes staring back at me.

I spread my legs a little farther then shoulder length apart and lightly stretch my body my touching the ground. "I need to stretch a little," I explain to him to fill the silence. I put my legs together and touch the ground getting my palms flat feeling the smooth grass.

Niall just leans back while watching me with a smirk. "Enjoying the view," I say with a slight laugh as I stand up.

He brushes his hand through his hair and smiles at me, "Just waiting for you to show me what you can do."

I go next to him kicking off my shoes besides him. I hold out my wristlet, "Mind holding this for me? Time to show you what a real cheerleader looks like."

He takes the red wristlet from me, "Of course." He sets it on his lap and I can feel his eyes watching me as I turn around and walk away.

I stretch out my back a little and then walk around the grass looking for a flat area. I quickly do a cartwheel just to warm up my body. "That's already more than I can do," Niall says and I laugh remembering the twitcam he did with Josh Devine where they did cartwheels in the hotel hallway.

"Maybe I can teach you some time," I say as I go into my front walk over and then quickly go into a back walkover.

"I bet you'd be an amazing teacher," Niall predicted,

I finish warming up by doing my round-off rebounding so high it takes a second to control my balance when I land. I can tell he's already impressed, "I'm just getting started."

I stand a few feet away from him standing with my hands at my sides. I check behind me to make sure i have enough room and face forward again. I look up for a second at the sky before I swing for a back handspring like I always do before I tumble. I go into my back handspring and another and another. I do 5 in a row before I stop because I would have hit the tree.

Niall starts clapping and I stand up straight putting my hands in the air like a gymnast does when she's finished with her routine. I walk over by Niall as he says, "That was really cool."

"Wanna see a back tuck?" I ask.

"Umm, yeah!," he exclaims like it's a no brainer.

I stand there preparing for a tuck. I wave my fingers around slightly by my sides like I almost always do before tucks. I bend my knees getting power for before I jump up and pull my knees to my chest and tuck backwards. I land perfectly on my feet with my head down making my hair all in front of my face. I take a second to make sure i'm stable before I stand up sharply whipping my hair backwards.

Niall claps his hands, "God your really good."

"Well you know, I try." I jokingly say with a smirk.

"What else you got?" he challenged twirling my wristlet around his wrist.

"Well let me show you how it's done," I hissed confidently turning around on my heels walking until i have a diagonal created in my mind pretending it's just like the red floor in the gym. I imagine it being just like all the other springboard floors i've tumbled corner to corner from.

Once I've gotten into the right mind set I imagine my tumbling pass i'm about to do and me sticking the landing. I always do this before I tumble. If I don't most of the time I end up landing weird or falling because i'm not focused enough.

Once I'm ready I start running and hurdle into my round off. I go into my first two back handsprings getting power off of them. I then do a layout staying tight and clean before i land going right into another back handspring. I end it with me doing my full that I got this year during one of my tumbling classes.

Once I land it I snap up like a gymnast and then bow. Niall claps and gives me a standing ovation while hollering out, "Woohoo! 10 out of 10! Gold medalist right here!"

I laugh as I walk over to him, "Just something I put together this year, nothing that special. No where near what some of those gymnast can do."

Niall wraps his arms around my waist pulling me close to him. "Well I thought it was amazing," he admits as he pulls me down with him so we can sit in the grass.

I smile at the fact that I have impressed him. "If I really am that good of a teacher maybe you'll be able to learn some of this stuff," I inform.

He laughs, which by the way is the best laugh I have ever heard, "I don't think i'm strong enough for that. I can't even do a cartwheel!" he exclaims and then flexes his biceps, "See, not much here!"

I flex mine to compare, "I do handstand push ups sometimes to work on these babies."

"You've got to show me, I don't think you can do it," he teases.

I stand up and brush the grass off my shorts while saying, "Challenge accepted." I walk a little ways away to give myself enough room to do this. I find a flat area to place my hands and I kick up in my handstand. I hold it for 5 seconds to make sure i'm stable enough to do this. I bend my arms going into my first pushup getting warmed up. I do 5 more pushups until I step down from the handstand.

Niall has his mouth slightly open with amazement on his face, "Great, now if I ever have to fight you I know you'll win."

I laugh as I sit down beside him again, "Then let's promise each other to never try and beat each other up."

"Deal," he says before continuing on with, "So how does your friend feel that your on a date with me and not hanging out with her. Because your here in London to see her, right?"

"Right. She doesn't mind. Actually she is excited that I found a hottie on my first day," I admit. Anabelle is actually thrilled not just because I got a date but because I got one with Niall Horan without even realizing it.

Niall pulls me closer to him wrapping his arm around my lower back, "What's your friend like?"

"Her name is Anabelle. She's 17, so a year younger than me. I've known her ever since she was born. My parents knew hers and we became best friends. Like you know the one kid that your parents had you take baths with?" I ask brushing my bangs out of my eyes. I change my seating position into criss cross apple sauce, also known as Indian style, to get a little bit more comfortable.

He smiles listening to me and nods, "Yeah, I know what you mean."

"Well she was my bath buddy. But then I moved away, and then she started moving all the time. Her dad was in the military so they moved a lot. They even moved to Japan and stayed there for a long time. But now that her dad is retired her mom really wanted to live in London. So here she is, living in London. And here I am, to visit her." I explain to him looking into those gorgeous blue eyes. How does his eyes look thank amazing? It's like they're photoshopped!

"And here I am, on a date with this amazing girl," he announces with that cute smile.

I smile at him feeling my cheeks blush. "So where did you grow up?" I ask already knowing the answer but still wanting to hear him say it in that Irish accent of his.

"I'm from Mullingar, it's outside of Dublin. My parents divorced when I was 5 so after a while me and my brother ended up staying with my dad in Mullingar." he confirms. I start to play with his blonde hair twirling it in my fingers. How does he make the word Mullingar sound so sexy?

"I've always wanted to go to Ireland. Especially after that one Scooby Doo movie about the Loch Ness monster." I confess.

He laughs as he lays down into my lap as I run my fingers through blonde hair. A few days ago I would have died to be able to run my fingers though his gorgeous hair. He looks up at me with his hands resting on top of his chest as he lays on me and admits, "I love it when girls play with my hair."

I smile down at him as I twirl a piece around my finger, "I love playing with hair, especially guys hair. Sometimes when I see a guy I like I think about playing with their hair."

"Have you thought about playing with my hair?" Niall smirks.

"Many times. More then you could imagine," I say thinking back on all the times I have thought about Niall's hair in the past few years.

"Well I just love hair, I have kind of a hair fetish," Niall says while reaching up with one hand to run his fingers through the tips of my hair before placing his hand back down on top of his chest.

"Me too! I just think hair is so pretty. Guys that have nice hair are considered even hotter to me," I smile as I glide my fingers through his brunette roots.

"So we can agree that we both find each other's hair incredibly sexy," he says making my heart beat faster at how he says incredibly sexy with that accent of his.

I blush slightly at his flattering comment, "Agreed."

We sit here for a few minutes as he looks up at the stars and I watch him as I play with his hair. We don't talk, we just enjoy each other's company. I admire how cute he looks as I run my fingers through the top of his hair seeing how long it is. His hair is longer than what I thought it would be.

"I have something to tell ya," Niall announced with that gorgeous accent of his.

"What is it?" I question as I stop playing with his hair and look into his eyes.

"Well, I'm Niall," he pauses and then continues, "Niall Horan from One Direction."

"I kind of figured that out," I say biting my bottom lip with a smile.

"How did you know?" he asks tilting his head back a little to get a better look at me.

"Well, I didn't figure out till I got back to the hotel room. I realized I never read what you wrote on the cup because I was too busy thinking of how absolutely amazing you were," I admit pausing as he blushes, "Then I saw that your name was Niall and it kind of clicked, that you were Niall Horan."

"So your a fan then?" he ask, his cheeks still slightly pink from him blushing earlier.

"Very big fan. I'm actually surprised I did not recognize you after all the pictures i've seen of you over the internet." I confess.

He smiles, "So you liked me before you knew who I was?"

I brush a few strands of blonde hair out of his eyes before saying, "Niall, I was already planning our 5th date before I even knew your first name" I honestly say.

We both don't say anything and just look at each other in the silence. Niall decides to fill the silence by sitting up and leaning closer to me pressing his lips against mine. My heart beats faster as he runs his fingers through my hair as we kiss. Once he pulls away he keeps his lips only centimeters away from mine and stays there for a few seconds before laying down in the grass.

He smiles and says, "We need to have a 2nd date before we can even have a 5th one."

"You doing anything 2 days from now, so this Wednesday?" I ask unable to wait any longer than that still feeling like i'm up in the sky after a kiss like that.

"Your going to make me wait 2 whole days," he gasps jokingly.

"Girls night tomorrow with Anabelle," I explain, "Otherwise I wouldn't want to wait"

"Wednesday, dinner at Nando's. I'll get you at 6. There is one just a few blocks away from your hotel so we can walk." He says being in charge in a very attractive way.

"Perfect," I smile as I lay down beside him resting my head on his chest feeling his heartbeat and him breathing.

We both lay there in silence just looking up at the stars together. I sometimes see Niall sneak a few glances at me and smile. This date couldn't get any better. Well maybe it could if Niall would have taken his shirt off. But still, who would have thought that I might actually meet the guy I've dreamed about for the past few years of my life. And I would have never guessed that he would like me back one day.
