ENDING 2: GONE AND FORGOTTEN
03:29, 5 August 2024Aphmau's POV:
I dropped the ball to my feet, and everything around me disappeared into the bright light that was burning my body. I screamed and cried, but it was pointless. No one was here to help me. I accepted my fate, and died.
I then woke up and I was in a white room. I walked around for a bit until something flew past my face. I froze up as it passed me again. Then it finally came to a stop, and went up to my face. I finally recognized the figure. It was a star. It was my wish.
"Good evening, Ms. Aphmau." The star greeted.
"Oh! Uh, hello to you too." I stuttered, taken back by the star.
"I understand that you have destroyed the void. You have sadly passed away in the process, but you might have a chance of living again. Ask me for anything, and your wish is my command." The star swore.
I thought for a moment. I thought about home. I did miss it, but what was left there for me? There was Aaron, my friends, my family, but there were so many other things. Pain, more death, sadness. I didn't want to have that anymore. But if I chose to die, what would become of everyone and everything I love? I don't want them to mourn. I wanted them to live their lives without me, happily. That was it. That was what I wanted.
"I wish that my friends and family forgot who I was. That their memories of me were erased. But if I may add on to that wish, I ask that they could still be friends. I don't want them to loose touch with each other." I asked.
"Are you sure this is what you wish for? After this, you cannot go back." The wish asked for confirmation. I thought for a moment longer, asking myself if that was what I really wanted.
"I am sure." I ensured.
"As you wish." The star rubbed its nubs together, and the room became brighter than it already was.
"I will send you back home, but you will die shortly after you return." My eyes slammed shut, and my world went black one final time before my demise.
I woke up on a sidewalk. I looked up, and saw familiar houses. I was back home. I tried getting up, but my pain was too much to bare. My skin began to burn, and a sharp pain went through my chest. This was it, I thought. I hope that my friends will still live happy lives without me. Suddenly, a man ran to me and approached me.
"Miss, are you alright?" I recognized his voice. I looked to his eyes, and saw his face. It was Aaron. He was not blind, and his eyes were black once more. He wore a black jacket and no bandana over his eyes. I almost cried when I looked at him.
"..A..Aaron?" I asked, hoping he'd still recognize me before I died. I thought that they would forget me when I was gone. He looked at me with wide eyes.
"How do you know my name?" I tear went down my cheek.
"How are you?" I asked him. He looked at me confused. "Excuse me?" He said.
"Please, answer my question before I die." I begged.
"Woah, wait, if you're dying I should get you to a hospital!" He said. He tried lifting me up, and I grunted in pain. "Please, don't. It's useless. Just answer my questions." I asked. "I will, but just come with me to my house. It's not far from here, and I can't just leave you on the floor." He offered. I nodded my head, and he tried lifting me once more. Blood poured out of my wounds, and it stung my body like a big bee sting. He carried me back home, and he opened the door. He laid me on the couch, and we walked over to the kitchen. He came back to me with big bandage wraps to cover my bleeding wounds. I noticed my blood was stained on his jacket, and his hands were covered in them. I let a few more tears fall as my body cramped and burned.
"I'll answer your questions while I wrap your scars. How did this even happen?" He asked.
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe me." I answered. He raised an eyebrow for a moment, but then continued to bandage me up. "So what were your questions again?" He asked. "How have you been lately?" I asked him.
"Uh, I've been good, I guess. Life's been treating me well, I suppose." He answered.
"Do you have any friends?" I questioned.
"Yeah, a few. There's a guy I knew from high school, Garroth, and he's honestly the only guy I'm friends with. Sure I hang out with his other friends, but I don't really like talking to them." He answered. I sighed at that. I guess the wish only half came true. Aaron must've secluded himself from the group.
"Do you have a lover?" I asked.
"No, not yet. I don't really think I'll ever find one, to be honest. But I'm happy with what I have." He answered. I reached out my hand to him.
"Aaron, you may not remember me, but please grant me this one wish," I begged him. "Find someone that will make you happy. I don't want you to live life alone anymore. You've lived alone long enough." I began coughing up more blood, and I sat up. He lightly patted me on the back.
"Hey, take it easy. These wounds are really deep. Could you just tell me what happened?"
"I already told you, you won't believe me." I answered.
"I won't judge you, just tell me. Maybe that could help me find a way to make the wounds heal." Aaron curiously asked.
"That's the thing, you can't help me. I'm supposed to die. It was my wish."
"Why would you wish to die?! You seem so young!" He asked confused.
"Because I've endured too much pain for me to handle. I've been through so much throughout that last few years of my life, and I don't want it anymore. My last wish was to erase all my friends memories, so I wouldn't have to worry about you anymore. Aaron, you proposed to me three years ago. We were supposed to get married, but an incident happened, and I practically died. You were hurt too, so much so you got amnesia. You forgot who I was. It took so long to heal, and when I got back everything changed, one way or another. I feel that, if I was never here, none of that would've happened. I'm not even a real person. I'm just a piece of a relic, or something like that. I hope that even if you don't remember me, you could forgive me and my wishes." My eyes began to tear up, knowing what time it was from the feeling in my chest. It was like my heart dropped.
"Please, take care of yourself. I love you, so much." I took my final breath, and passed out on the couch. The final thing I heard was Aaron telling me to wake up. I hope his life is well lived.
I blinked my eyes open, and gasped for air. I flew upwards, and looked down to my feet, except they weren't there. I looked to my hand, and it was very transparent. What happened to me? I heard Aaron talking again, and I turned around to stare at the disturbing sight. I saw my dead, limp body on the couch, covered in blood. Aaron continued to shake me, attempting to wake me.
"Hey, wake up! You can't die yet! You won't die yet!" He carried my body out the door and rushed to his car. I stayed in the house, too distracted by my appearance. Was I a ghost? I must be. I assume I look like Emmalyn now. Maybe I can still be. I can watch Aaron, keep him safe, keep him happy.
EPILOGUE:
Aaron's POV:
It's been a few long months since I met that girl who died in my house. I felt so bad for her. I still don't get why she wanted to die. She never got to explain further. Her words still linger in my mind.
Ever since that day, I've been thinking about love a little too much, I wish her wanting me to find one wasn't her last wish. Now I feel obligated to grant it.
I wonder if she was telling the truth, too. Were my memories really erased? I couldn't' think of how, though. If they were, and if that girl really knew me, and loved me too, I can't think of any reason why she would choose to leave me, let alone erase my memories of her. I'm glad I learned her name, though. The doctors found her records, and were slightly confused as well. Her name was Aphmau, and she was supposedly human according to her records, but the doctors said she was a werewolf. An odd observation.
It makes me feel a little good I was able to pay for her grave. I visit her every so often, whenever I have questions, really. I know I'll never get an answer, but I always feel like I'm being listened to. I makes me feel a little more loved. I hope I can fulfill her wish.
