~Chapter 31~

14:09, 12 March 2013

I stepped out of the shower, and threw one of our fluffy red towels around my damp but warm body. My phone began to vibrate on the bathroom bench, signalling me that my 8 minute timer had finished counting down. I was out of the shower in less than 8 minutes on a date night, score!

In my last minute rush to find clothes suitable for dinner with Luke tonight that resided in my suitcase, I'd found a simple blue dress, a girly black blazer and my black flats, and decided that together they were classy enough to pass as a dinner date outfit.

I wasted no time in getting ready, for I knew that Luke would be waiting for me. Hannah and Ashton had left before I got into the shower, and Michael and Calum were downstairs playing the Xbox, leaving Luke to wait all on his own in our room.

I finished drying my hair, pinning my fringe aside and leaving the rest to flow down my back naturally, applied some lip gloss and I was ready to go.

I walked into our bedroom quite casually, but stopped in my tracks when I saw Luke standing in front of the mirror, his white collared shirt still half unbuttoned and not tucked into his black tight jeans as he fixed his hair. He saw me in the reflection and turned around, his eyes wide with happiness.

"You look...Beautiful." He said, buttoning his shirt quickly, without taking his eyes off mine.

I blushed, but didn't bother to hide it.

"Thank you. So, are you going to tell me where we're going tonight, good sir?" I tried to imitate the British accent, but frankly, I was terrible.

It seemed to come to Luke more naturally... "It's a secret, love... now let's go!"

He took me by the hand and we bounded down the stairs together, Luke calling out a goodbye to the other two as we shut the front door and skipped down the footpath to the road, our smiles wide and the air between us thick with romance.

Once we were both in the car, Luke reached into the glove box and pulled out a blindfold. He gestured toward me, and I rolled my eyes, but smiled and willingly let him place it over my eyes. It was cliché, he'd done it before, yet it was still cute, and it intensified the element of surprise.

The drive felt longer than it actually was, because for some reason whenever you can't see, things become more exciting, therefore it feels as though time is passing much faster than it actually is, so things take forever.

Luke took the blindfold from my face, revealing my childhood dream, standing there right in front of me.

The London Eye.

I actually reached out to touch it, to make sure it was real, but Luke took my hand, laughing to himself, and led me over to an awaiting carriage. Inside was a candlelit meal set for two, and a battery powered iPod dock.

I stepped inside, and took a seat on one of the benches that lined the windows, well walls, of the carriage.

Luke stepped in too and the door was shut, the worker giving us a friendly smile and a wave as the rotating wheel came to life and began to move.

"You... Did all this for me, Luke?"

He nodded. I was speechless. All I could do was stand and kiss him, letting my thanks be told by the movements of my lips against his.

When I was done giving my thanks, Luke pulled out a chair for me to sit on, then placed his phone on the iPod dock and pressed play, letting some romantic music fill the carriage, before taking a seat opposite me at the table.

"Bon appetit" He said, before starting to eat.

We ate in silence, letting the music carry us away as the carriage slowly made its way up toward its highest point. There were many stops along the way, we weren't quite there yet and I was determined to stay focused on everything except the view until we reached the top.

Once our food was finished, Luke took my hand and we danced. We danced, like in those cliché movies, the cute couple dancing to the romantic music. No one could see us, we were high above the ground, and even though there wasn't much room, we danced, we waltzed around the table again and again, until I tired, and wrapped my arms around Luke's neck, leaning my head on his shoulder as we swayed to the music.

I opened my eyes to see a million gold city lights below, the prettiest sight that had forever been in my dreams, now in front of me in reality. I jumped excitedly from Luke's arms to press my body against the glass of the carriage.

"It's so... beautiful... And perfect. Everything I'd imagined it to be, but a million times better." I whispered, turning to face Luke.

"The way you see that view? That's how I see you, Alexis. So beautiful, and perfect. Everything I imagined you to be, but a million times better..."

I could've cried there, I swear a tear escaped my eye. I was truly in love with this perfect boy, and in my mind, I knew that right in these moments, this night, I knew exactly what I wanted.

Slowly the night passed, and some time later we floated back to the ground, our eyes shining brighter than the stars that covered the night sky.

The drive home was silent, but filled with emotion. Happiness, love, certainty. Tonight was the night something would change.

When we walked through the door I expected to hear Calum and Michael still playing the Xbox, arguing or something, but the house was completely silent.

"Where are the others..?" I questioned Luke, taking my jacket off and placing my bag on the kitchen table.

"Oh, they're... out. They won't be back until late. LATE late."

He overemphasised the 'late'.

Oh. So this was really happening.

Was I ready?

Hell yes.
