Chapter 30
00:08, 13 June 2020Silena's POV.
We appeared in Poseidon cabin.
"Charlie get Percy, I'll get Annabeth. Put them into a bunk together," I directed and picked up the whimpering blonde. "Which one do they sleep in, Mignonnes?" I questioned, slipping into french.
Charlotte pointed in the direction of a neat bunk. "That was Daddy's old bunk, but Mama sleeps there now."
"Thanks girly." Charlie slipped Percy under the sheets and I positioned Annabeth in his arms. They were both crying, but Percy shifted to wrap his arms around her. My face softened at the sight. The whimpering went down a little bit and I let out a 'aww'. "Annica was right. They are soulmates," I whispered. Charlie grabbed my hand.
"Who's Annica?" Charlotte asked, making me glance at her.
"A daughter of Begtse. She believes in this cool thing called Pratitya-samutpada. It's basically the Buddhist version of soulmates. I'm guessing that's why they could always calm each other down 8 years ago," I explained.
"Are they going to be ok?" Luke asked, throwing himself on a messy bunk. "Yeah. Hopefully Luke is fighting that titaness right now," I slid in next to him. "Come here." He leaned into my arms, and I petted his head.
"Your family. Percy always looked out for us, so we're gonna do the same," I reassured them. "Can you tell us more about him?"
--------------------
Zoë's POV.
I stared at Mnemosyne. With a snap of her fingers she was wearing obsidian armor. Prometheus, Koios, and Hyperion stood around her, ready to fight.
"I want that Bitch," I snarled, looking at the titaness.
"May I join you?" Thalia asked.
"Girls are always welcome fighting by me," I grinned. Piper and Hazel stepped forward. "We're joining. Percy and Annabeth are our family. They've helped us, so we owe them," Hazel said. I nodded, pulling my bow off my back.
"She needs to die. We fight until we kill her," I said and they nodded. I notched an arrow, and aimed it between her eyes.
"Daughter of Atlas, you can't kill us. We're your family," Mnemosyne pouted.
"Percy's my family. You stopped being family the minute my father killed me," I snarled and she waved her hand in dimisel.
"Our family is complicated. Join us Zoë. Soon we will have your father as well," I froze.
"No you won't. That man is evil. Besides, your master is dead."
"Oh Zoë. Just because Kronos is dead, does not mean we don't have... other leaders. More powerful leaders. Kronos was a mere pawn," she took a step towards us. The whole valley darkened suddenly. The moon had fully covered the sun.
"C'mon. Let's fight," I challenged, letting the arrow fly. She caught it mid air, grinning at me.
"Not today grandniece," she called and the monsters dispersed. They were retreating.
"Give the happy couple my best. Oh wait... you can't," she faked disappointment.
"How long will they be like that?" Piper asked from next to me.
"Maybe a day. Maybe a week. Maybe a month. A year? A decade?" she taunted. I curled my lip.
"What do you want?" I questioned and she turned her back.
"Percy and Annabeth are in debt to our commander. He wants them to suffer," she said. "Ask Percy and Annabeth. They'll know." And with that, she walked away. As the opposing army dispersed, a scream echoed through the camp. The blood drained from Thalia's face.
"That's Annabeth," she whispered.
-------------------------
We burst through the door to cabin 3. The screaming had stopped and Annabeth was leaning into a sleeping Percy, unconscious again. I held back a sob. Luke Jr. looked up at me with tears in his eyes.
"What's wrong with them?" He whispered. Silena had her arms wrapped around the young boy, comforting him.
"Mnemosyne. Her 'commander'-" I used finger quotes. "- apparently has history with the couple." A few people glanced around.
"How do we help them?" Charlie asked. On cue, Percy started whimpering.
"I don't know. But the titans have a bigger plan. They we're talking about my-" Percy shot up. His eyes opened and he panted.
"Bob-" his voice cracked. "Bob no. I'm sorry," he sobbed.
"Percy-" Hazel started but he collapsed back into the bed.
"Oh gods," Thalia whispered. "This must be torture for them."
"You should have seen Percy for the first 20 years. He was a wreck," Luke Sr. muttered, pulling the blankets up over the unconscious couple.
"What if we put them into a NREM sleep?" Micheal asked. It was quiet as we calculated.
"That might work. We could call in a favor from the gods? They owe them that much," Reyna said.
"Someone IM them," Nico commanded and Jason ran over to the fountain. I listened to Percy and Annabeth's low whimpers, until my thoughts were cut off.
"Jason. What is going on? Did we win?" The booming sound of Zeus's voice rang around the cabin.
"We have a problem. Are all the Olympians there?" the tall blonde asked. He must have nodded.
"It's about Percy and Annabeth."
"Have they reunited? Is Percy okay?" Poseidon butt in. I made my way into the view of the IM.
"My Lords and Ladies, Mnemosyne has cast a curse on them. They are... reliving all of their worst memories, as well as the deaths of the people they love. They are in and out of consciousness, and have only had a fracture of a conversation. The twins were able to vapor travel them out of the battle, but they are far from ok. Can you heal them?" I pleaded. The gods exchanged looks.
"Mnemosyne is... very powerful. Only she can stop it," Apollo said carefully.
"Well can you ask Hypnos to put them into a NREM sleep? That way there's no dreams or memories," Ethan butt in.
"It's the least you can do for them," Piper pointed out. The gods whispered to each other.
"Okay. We'll send Hypnos. But they will stay unconscious until Mnemosyne is dead. You will have no help from them," Zeus said gravely.
"The battle is not over. We sense something powerful stirring," Hades warned.
"Mnemosyne mentioned something about a commander. Percy and Annabeth have something to do with it," Hazel mentioned. Poseidon snorted.
"That narrows it down to what- 300 powerful beings?" He asked sarcastically.
"So Daddy and Mama are gonna be ok?" Charlie's voice was quiet. We all turned to the young girl. She was shaking in Thalia's arms. It was quiet, no one wanting to answer.
"Of course ΜΙΚΡΟΣ. They are strong." Athena finally said. The goddess's face was soft, almost like a baby wolf. "Hypnos will knock them out until the pain is over. Your parent's will be ok."
------------------
Hypnos tapped Percy on his forehead and his whimpers ceased. He moved to the golden haired girl wrapped in Percy's arms and did the same. The room was quiet for a minute, until Percy unconsciously pulled her in closer. Silena let out a small 'awww', and we all glared. Hypnos clasped his hands together, and gold light peaked out. I took a minute to observe him. He had pale white skin, and dark, black hair. His eyes swirled from dark purple, to warm coral. A sudden wave of sleepiness washed over me, and I looked away. After another minute, he pulled his hands apart, revealing a gold poppy on a chain.
"Break this when you want to wake the pair up. Keep it safe. If you lose it, they stay asleep forever," he instructed warily, passing it to me. I nodded, and he sighed. "Stay safe. Now cover your eyes!" he instructed. I clenched my eyes shut and in a flash of light, the god disappeared. I turned the flower in my fingers, the gesture sparking a memory.
-------------
Bianca pulled up Percy's hand, gaping at the silver ring. I glanced at Luke, whose mouth was hanging open. "Your father gave it to me. To say sorry for everything" he murmured to Bianca, and slid the ring into his pocket. He glanced up at the black haired girl, and gave her a small smile. "If I survive this... I'm not going back with the army, B. I'm gonna stay here. With her and the twins," he said.
-------------
I snapped back to the present, trying not to cry at the memory of my dead friend. I took a step towards the bunk and kneeled by the edge. I slowly and gently moved Annabeth. "Zoë, what are you-" Luke started but I shook my head, ignoring him.
"One second." I slid a hand into Percy's pocket and pulled it out successfully. Curling my fist around the ring, I readjusted Percy and Annabeth to their original position. I slowly stood up.
"I didn't want him to lose it," I whispered and uncurled my fist. Everyone gasped at the sight of the simple ring, except Luke. He gave me a knowing look, and held his hand out. I slipped the ring into his hand and he bent down to Luke Jr. and Charlie.
"Your Daddy got this for your Mama," he said kindly. The 7 year old's eyes widened and they exchanged a glance.
"I have an idea," Luke Jr. whispered and took the ring from Luke's hand. He ran over to one of the walls, and rubbed a hand on them. He stopped after a minute and pressed in. A secret cabinet slid open and my mouth dropped.
"Give me the necklace, and some fabric," he directed. The scrawny Mexican, Leo, pulled a shirt from his tool belt. My eyebrows scrunched at this, but I dismissed the question quickly. I handed him the gold pendant, and he wrapped the necklace and ring in the shirt. "This is where Dadda hid the letter. It'll stay safe here," he said as he slipped the bundle into the compartment. It concealed back into the wall.
"So now what?" Connor asked.
"We need to have a meeting. This war is not over. Not even close."
