Chapter Twelve: Keeping up with the Maliks (part 1)

11:26, 9 July 2018

Zayn's POV

"Jenna wake up!" I said as I entered the room.

Today I woke up really early cause we had to fly to Bradford to meet my parents. It was already 4 in the morning and our flight was about to leave in two hours.

"Jenna!" I sat next to her on the bed. "Jenna, baby wake up." I spoke in my sweetest voice but Jenna wouldn't budge. Her long hair was messilly resting to the white pillow and her beautiful green eyes were shut.

"Jenna, baby please! Wake up! We're going to miss our flight!" I spoke again, leaving soft kisses on her cheeks and forehead.

"5 more minutes, Zayn! Pleaseee!" She whined and buried her face on her pillow.

"Come on, Jenna! Don't make it harder than already is. You're going to sleep during the flight." I smiled and her eyes shot open.

"Fine! But you owe me, Malik!" She growled and rolled out the bed, making her way to the bathroom.

I chuckled at her comment and I carried our lagguages downstairs. She packed way to many things for a weekend. After a few minutes, Jenna joined me.

"Good morning." She flashed me a weak smile and gave me a kiss.

"Good morning." I kissed her back. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah, I think." She said and threw her jacket on her shoulders.

"Oh, the taxi is here. Come on love. Let's go!" I smiled and gestured her outside, holding our suitcases. I locked the door behind me and we walked towards the black cab.

Once we got in, Jenna rested her head on my shoulder and I snaked my arm around her waist, pulling her closer to me. The weather was clouded and really chilly today. I looked out of the window the whole driveway, staring some of the water drops running down the cab's windows. Jenna was snuggling to me and no matter how hard she tried to keep her eyes open, she fell asleep on my arms.

"Come on baby. We're here!" I smiled to a sleeping Jenna, as long as we reached the airport.

I opened the door and the cold air hitted my face, making my eyes get wattery by the minute. Jenna followed me and after we picked up our suitcases and paied the driver we walked inside the airport.

"Let's check in and then we're going to grab some coffee. It'll help you." I held Jenna's hand and she silently nodded.

After we checked in, we walked to a small cafe inside the airport and grabbed two hot cuppas of black coffee.

"How long does the flight takes?" Jenna asked me and took a sip of her coffee.

"About an hour and something. You've never been to Bradford before?" I smiled at her and she shook her head.

"Are you going to show me around?" She smiled at me.

"Yeah, but Bradford is a dangerous place. Especially the night." I warned her.

"Why, there are bad boys?" She smirked.

"Yeah.." I raised my eyebrow.

"Well, I'm not scared! As long as I have you by my side." She grinned and I bent down for a kiss.

"I'll always protect you. Even with my own life!" I cupped her cheek. She threw her arms around my shoulders and I rested mine at her waist aswell.

"Attention please! The passengers of the flight BA1342 from London to Bradford, should move to the gate 4"

"Attention, s'il vous plaît! Les passagers du BA1342 de vol de Londres à Bradford, devraient passer à la porte 4"

"That's our flight!" Jenna smiled and grabbed my hand. We pulled apart and walked to the gate 4.

A young flight attendant geastured us to our seats and a few minutes later, the plane took off.

Jenna's POV

I fluttered my eyes open when I heard a soft 'ding'.

"In a few minutes begins the landing procedure on the Leeds Bradford International Airport. Be sure you fastened your seatbelt and you took your personal belongings with you. Thank you for choosing British Airways for your travel."

I streched my arms and a yawn escaped my mouth.

"Oh, look who's up! The sleeping beauty!" Zayn chuckled and took off his headphones.

"Shut up!" I giggled and I playfully punched his arm.

"What a nice view." I smiled and I looked out of the window. The whole Bradford city was in front of our eyes.

"Hmh." Zayn hummed and smiled at me.

The plane landed normally, proving me wrong. I was a little bit scared of the landing but Zayn kept me occupied with kisses and hugs, trying to comfort me. We took our suitcases and we walked out of the airport. A wide smile appeared on his face and before I could ask a woman ran towards him and gave him a bone crushing hug. His mum.

"Zaynie! Oh my God! I missed you so much, baby!" She smiled and buried her face on his neck.

Zayn snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her closer.

"Mum! I missed you too!" He smiled and kissed her.

"No hugs and kisses for me?" A deep voice spoke and I looked up to see a tall brunet guy with wide open arms. His dad.

"Dad!" Zayn squaled and pulled apart of his mum, giving him a warm hug.

"You must be Jenna! Welcome, honey. I'm Zayn's mum, Tricia." She smiled and pulled me closer for an embrace.

"Nice to meet you, mrs. Malik!" I smiled and hugged her back.

"Oh please! You can call me Tricia." She flashed me a warm smile.

"Ok, Tricia." I smiled back.

"And this is my father, Yaser. Dad, this is Jenna, my girlfriend!" Zayn introduced us.

"Nice to meet you Jenna. Welcome!" He said and hugged me tight.

"Nice to meet you too, mr. Malik." I hugged him back.

"Yaser." He corrected me and I simply nodded.

"Come on kids. Let's go back home. It's really cold outside." Tricia suggested and walked away as we followed her behind.

Zayn placed his arm around my waist and leaded me to the car.

Yaser pulled to the parkway of a big house.

"We're here!" He smiled at me throught the mirror.

The neighborhood was really quite and only two houses were close to ours. I climbed out the car and I gasped when I took a good look of the house.

"You have a really lovely house!" I smiled at them.

"Thank you darling! Now let's go inside. The girls are dying to meet you!" Tricia threw her arm around my shoulder and guided me inside.

"Welcome home!" A sweet brunette girl came towards me and gave me a hug. "I'm Zayn's sister, Doniya."

"Nice to meet you, Doniya! I'm Jenna." I smiled.

"I know you! I saw you on the tv but let me tell you something. You're more beautiful in person."

"Thank you. You're such a beauty too." I blushed a little.

"Well, this is Waliyha. She's younger than Zayn." Doniya introduced me to the chocolate brown eyed girl, who was standing right next to her.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Jenna." I smiled at her and she gave me a hug.

"Welcome home, Jenna!" She smiled wide at me.

"...And this is Safaa. She's the youngest of all the Maliks!" Doniya joked and a sweet little girl came to me.

"Nice to meet you, Safaa. I'm Jenna." I smiled and I bent down to gave her a kiss.

"I know you! You're that girl that lives with my brother. You have beautiful eyes." She smiled and peeked my cheek.

"Thank you! You have a beautiful smile." I hugged her tight.

"I can see noone missed me!" Zayn came out of nowhere and all of his sisters ran towards him, hugging and kissing him.

I stood up and I smiled at the sight of them. Zayn is so lucky to have a wonderfull family. Unlike me.

"Why don't you sit down, so we can drink a cup of hot chocolate?" Yaser smiled at me and I nodded.

Tricia came back with a tray full of cuppas of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Safaa grabbed hers and sat on Zayn's lap.

"So, how was your trip?" Tricia spoke as she sat on the couch, next to Yaser.

"It was great!" I smiled at them and I blew air to my steamy chocolate liquir.

"Yeah, that's because you were sleeping." Zayn smiled and stuck his tongue out to me.

"You woke me up at 4! It's not my fault!" I said back, causing the others to chuckle a bit.

"So Jenna, tell us how did you meet Zayn?" Doniya asked.

Everybody's heads snapped to my direction, ready to hear a sweet story like in the movies. The truth is that our story isn't that sweet. We've been setted up on a date for Zayn to forget Perrie and he's still struggling to forget her. The smile slowly faded on my lips and I nervously brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. I opened my mouth to speak and I felt Zayn's hand on my waist.

"Actually, Jenna is Eleanor's friend and she introduced us. Well, you know what came next. First date and then first kiss and boom! You're in a relationship!" Zayn faked a smile and looked at me. I weakly smiled back and I took another sip of my chocolate.

"Aww, this sounds sweet!" Waliyha spoke.

If they only knew...If they only knew that Zayn is struggling with so many things!

"How about your family, Jenna? Are you from England?" Yaser's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

Well, the last thing I wanted to talk about! My family.

"Yeah...Actually, I'm from Manchester! My father is British and my mother was an American. She came here to study and she met him. Then, they got married and had me and my older sister, Christie. She lives in New York now. She's a fashion photographer and my dad lives in Australia. He has a big farm there and he's remarried now." I smiled.

"What about your mother?" Tricia asked.

"She...She's dead." I cleared my throat and I lowered my gaze.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry! I didn't know that.." She gave me a warm hug, rubbing my back in circles.

"No it's ok. It's been years. She died in birth. I don't  even remember her." I hugged her tighter. Actually, Tricia's hug was so comforting. It was like hugging my mum. A mum I've never had.

After we pulled apart, I looked up at Zayn, who was starring at me with a sad expression in his face. He lifted Safaa and placed her on the seat next to him. He hugged me tight and placed me on his lap. He gave me a soft kiss on my forehead and started stroking my hair to comfort me.

"Well..." Yaser cleared his throat, "...let's change the subject! About the engagement of your cousin Zayn, it's tomorrow. Your aunt and uncle have already arranged a family dinner to their house. So, Jenna you are going to meet the rest of the Maliks." Yaser tried to clear the atmosphere from the awkwardness.

"I really can't wait to meet them!" I flashed them a genuine smile.

"Babe, why don't we go upstairs to take some rest and then we're going to come back for lunch?" Zayn asked me.

"Yeah, let's go. I'm dying to see your old bedroom." I said and I stood up.

"Oh God! You're not going to be impressed." He chuckled and took my hand, entwining our fingers.

"Talk to you later guys!" Zayn sang and they waved back.

We reached the top of the stairs and Zayn took me to the room right next to them. He opened the white door and a room with blue walls appeared. Sketches and drawings were hanging on the walls or resting to the white desk.

"You made them?" I asked surprised and Zayn nodded.

"They're amazing! You're a natural talent Zayn!" I smiled at him and took a random sketch from the desk.

A pair of strong hands pulled me closer to a manly figure. I turned around to see Zayn looking at me. His hazel eyes were red and his lips were shaking.

"I'm sorry!" He said and hugged me tight. "I didn't know it!"

"It's ok." I said. I curled my arms around his torso and I buried my face to his shirt. The familiar smell of his perfume filled my lungs and I closed my eyes, trying to fight back some tears.

"I'll always be there for you, Jenna! Always!" He cupped my face and forced me to look at him.

"Always!" He said once again and his plump lips touched mine. I closed my eyes getting lost in the moment.

His kiss is my drug...
