Chapter 5
20:44, 6 August 2023I woke to the sound of the rustling paper. When I opened my eyes, I saw Terry lying shirtless beside me in bed with a magazine in one hand and a cigar in the other. He noticed me waking up, "Well good afternoon to you." I smiled while stretching, "Hello to you too, Terry."
When I stretched my arms out I saw Terry pouting his lips, lowering his gaze to my chest and then looking up at me again. Oh, wait. I realized that I was naked and quickly covered myself with the blanket. "No need to be shy, Lana. Nothing I haven't seen before," he commented laughing. I looked down at the floor looking for my undergarments. I reached for my bra and panties, snatching them off the floor and putting them on under the blanket.
I gave Terry a quick kiss before hopping off the bed, "I gotta shower." I picked up the rest of my clothes placing them on top of my suitcase. I opened the door to the bathroom. Before going in, I turned around to Terry still lying on the bed with the cigar and magazine in hand. He took his eyes off the magazine turning his attention to me, "Want to join me?"

Instead of showering, we decided to take a bath together. We sat in the giant bathtub with bubbles on the surface of the water. I brought my legs closer to my torso, wrapping my arms around myself while Terry was sitting across me. It was quiet. You would hear the sound of water splashing now and then, but other than that there would be silence. Although the room was quiet, my thoughts are louder than ever. I didn't know what to call it, what was happening between us, but I liked it. It felt carefree, silly, and good.
Terry and I kept firm eye contact, trying to read each other's minds. I wonder what he was thinking. Knowing Terry, he could be thinking of something that ranges from a business idea or murder. But this is the man I love. A little bit messy. A little bit ruined. A beautiful disaster. Just like me.
Flashback
It was another night with me, Johny, Terry, and Ponytail in the nursing tent together, but this time we were playing poker.
"Captain Turner told us that we will be moving into North, so we will not be able to do this for the next couple of days," Ponytail announced while drawing his cards. I didn't say anything. I just hope none of them will end up dead or badly hurt and come back once the operation is successful.

"Lana," Terry broke me out of my thoughts. When I looked up at him, I realized how watery my eyes are. "Are you alright?" He scooted himself closer to me wrapping an arm around me. I sniffed and looked up at him, "Yeah, I'm alright. I think I got the soap in my eye accidentally." He reached over to the bathtub and me grabbing the mirror from the sink that had the coke, a rolled-up paper, and a razor on it. He handed me the mirror, "I think you need it." I placed the mirror on the edge of the bathtub and wiped my hair back from my face before grabbing the rolled paper placing one end of the roller-up paper inside my nostril and placing the other on the line of coke and taking a hit.
I sniffed in the coke letting out a sigh of relief. I felt the euphoria running through my veins and the high hit me like a thunderstruck. I handed the rolled-up paper to Terry before getting out of his way. He took a hit of the coke as well before putting it back next to the sink. I smiled at him, he moved closer to me. He placed his hands on my neck pulling me in for a kiss. I closed my eyes feeling his hungry lips on mine. I stroked his long hair as he slipped his tongue inside my mouth. He lights up my heart like stars light up the dark sky. He's the healer of my soul. The moon to my sun.
I haven't seen him only for six months yet it felt like an eternity to me. We slowly let go of each other breathing heavily. I placed my forehead on his bare chest, taking deep breaths. I closed my eyes feeling serene. I wish I could stay in his embrace forever, never letting him go.
"What are we doing next?" I asked him.
"We need to go see Danny Boy and drop off the book for him," Terry answered. I moved my head from under his chin and looked up at him, "Kissing you sounds like a better plan." He smiled leaning in and giving me a tender kiss.
"After we see Danny Boy, we can go somewhere and do something together." I brought my face closer to him, placing my forehead on his, "I like that idea," I whisper.
Flashback
"Okay, we gotta go," Johny said solemnly. I stood by Ponytail and Terry with my arms wrapped around myself for comfort. I hate to see them go. Johny hugged me and I felt my eyes water. Johny rubbed my back in a comforting way, "We'll be back in time. Don't worry." He let go of me and took my hand placing a kiss on top of it.
Ponytail opened his arms for me next, "Does this mean I can get a kiss from you, Lana?" He perked trying to cheer me up. I chuckled as a tear rolled down my cheek, "In your dreams, Ponytail. But I can give you this," I kissed him on the cheek before hugging him. I heard him playfully sniffing me, "Alright, Miss American Dream. We'll see you in a couple of days." We let go of each other and I hugged Terry next.
"Take care, Lana. Watch out for those assholes at night. Alright?" Terry said to me. I chuckled and let go of him placing my hands on his chest, "When you all will come back, you all should teach me some of that martial arts Captain Turner taught you all, eh?" They all nodded in unison.
"Sure will, Lana," Johny smiled. I kissed Terry on the cheek as well before letting go of him.
"Time to skedaddle boys," Captain Turner informed the boys before heading back to the helicopter. We shared one last look before I watched them getting on the helicopter. Ponytail turned around and blew me a kiss. I chuckled pretending to catch the kiss.
end of flashback
We parked the blue truck at the wooden gates of the dojo. As I was getting out of the car Terry informed me that Mike Barnes is going to be there but we have to act like we don't know him. When we entered the dojo, Mike Barnes had his foot on Danny Boy's neck holding him down on the grass, "There's nothing you've got that I can't counter. Your karate's a joke."
"Let him up, punk!" Terry demanded Mike.
Mike turned around, "Who are you, his mother?"
"Maybe," Terry said before walking closer to Mike. Mike tried to throw a punch at Terry but he easily blocked it. Mike kept throwing punches at him, but Terry blocked all of them with ease. When Mike tried to kick Terry, he managed to sweep his other leg while catching the one Mike threw which resulted in Mike falling on the grass. I observed Danny Boy watching the whole thing take place with an amazed look on his face.
"Get up! Get up!" Terry shouted at Mike. Mike got up, "You see this? You see it?" Terry shouted at Mike holding the book in his hand. Terry placed the book on Mike's face before punching the book hurting Mike behind it. Mike groaned holding his forehead while bending down. Terry got a hold of his hair making him look at him. Mike put his hand on Terry's chest, "Get your hand off of me! Get your hand off of me!"
Mike took his hand off Terry's chest holding it up in a defeated way. Terry brought him closer, "I ever see you, even on the same street as this kid, I won't be so charitable with your health," he warned Mike. "All right," Mike said.
"You understand?" Terry asked.
"Yes!" Mike yelled.
"All right," Terry threw him toward the gates and kicked him the ass, "Get the hell out of here!" I moved out of the way and stretched my hand for Danny Boy to take. He took it and got up, "Who is that guy?" I asked him acting as if I don't know him.
"That's the lunatic who wants my title," Danny Boy informed us. I shrugged, "Then that's gotta be a hell of a lunatic huh?" Danny Boy smiled nodding.
"I was hoping you would've killed him," Danny Boy admitted chuckling. All of us took a seat on the sparring deck with me sitting in between Danny Boy and Terry, "No, No. That's not what karate's about. It's for defense," Terry spoke up. I pointed at Terry while keeping my eyes on Danny Boy, "I agree with him."
"Yeah, yeah. I know, you're right," Danny Boy said holding the book Terry handed to him earlier. "Here. Here's your book," he told Terry handing him back the book.
"We brought that for you," Terry proclaimed.
"Oh, yeah, right. Right, thanks," Danny Boy thanked us flipping through the pages of the book.
"Of course, there's only so much you can learn from a book," Terry explained.
"You're telling me!" Danny Boy smiled. "Do you know karate as well?" he asked me.
"I only know skills with weapons, but when it comes to sparring in tournaments I'm useless," I shrugged. Terry got Danny Boy's attention by patting his shoulder, "Don't listen to her Daniel, she just likes to humble herself." I laughed.
"Come on, stand up. Let me show you a couple of moves. Help you deal with punks like that. Make a strong stance," Terry instructed Danny Boy while fixing up his jeans. "Back leg up a little more. Okay, now sweep me."
"Well, what do you mean, like that?" He asked Terry putting his foot on Terry's calf.
"I'm not made of glass. Do it right," Terry declared. Danny Boy hit Terry in the calf carefully.
"Better," Terry demanded. "Now a little higher, and at the end, twist your hip." He put his foot on Danny Boy's calf, "Keep your hands up." He instructed the boy pretending to punch him. The boy laughed making a fighting stance. The boy swept Terry this time making him fall on the grass.
Danny Boy bent down, "Hey, you okay? I'm sorry. I'm sorry, man."
Terry got up, "That's good. That's good. That's a strong move," Terry remarked sweeping the grass off his sweater. "Look, everyone needs a teacher, Daniel. I'm opening the Cobra Kai dojo again. It's time to set things straight. Anytime you wanna train, I'll be there for you. No strings attached."
"Thanks. I appreciate that, but uh... Listen thanks for helping me out," the boy stretched his hand for a handshake.
"Hey, It's my pleasure. All right, I'll see you around," he bowed to the boy and the boy bowed back. I got off the sparring deck and approached Danny Boy stretching my hand for a handshake. He shook my hand, I pulled him closer by his hand for him to hear me, "I would take his advice, you know." The boy nodded looking at Terry. Terry held the gate door open for me. I let go of Danny Boy's hand and followed Terry out of the karate dojo.
"So what are we doing next?" I inquired. He opened the passenger door for me and I got in. "Let's change out of these clothes, put on something nicer, and check out the jazz club near Santa Monica. How's that sound?"
I smiled, "Sounds great to me!" I cheered. He smiled back, stroking my hair back before planting a kiss on my lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wore a black mini dress for the jazz club. I was doing my hair in front of the bathroom mirror with the door open when I saw Terry walking into my room and throwing himself on my bed while I was watching him through the bathroom mirror. He let out a loud sigh and took the hair tie out of his hair. I finished doing my hair and walked out of the bathroom standing above Terry on the bed. I placed one hand on the nightstand and the other on the edge of the bed leaning into his face.
"Are you ready to go, Terry?"
"Yes," he replied not opening his eyes.
"Aren't you going to change out of your clothes? I would hate to be the only person being dressed up," I whispered. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and pulled me into bed with him. I laughed at his actions. "Let me kiss you first," he said planting a kiss on my lips before getting up and leaving me all alone in the bed. He stopped at the doorway, "I'll meet you downstairs."
After he left, I got off the bed and put on my heels, and walked out of the room. When I got off the elevator, I found Terry wearing a tux while sitting on the couch with a bouquet of roses in his hand. I smiled. When he saw me getting off the elevator, he stood up smiling.
"For you. Perfect flowers for the perfect woman," he said handing me the bouquet of roses to me. I took the roses from him, sniffing them. They smelled amazing.
"Why, thank you Mr. businessman." I linked my arm through his and we walked out of the door together.
