i love you.if you ever need to talk or anythingi am here and always will be-kate❤️🩹
Her heart thunders in her chest as she takes a step back, her eyes darting to Nolan for support. But he's not looking at her; he's staring at Jordan with a mix of shock and rage, his gun still trained on Armstrong. Lauren's mind races, trying to understand how this has all gone so wrong. "Run." Nolan whispers, "Call Tim when you get to safety."Without another word, Lauren nods and takes off running out the door, her boots slapping against the wooden floorboards. She hears a gunshot ring out from somewhere in the house, but she doesn't stop. She keeps her eyes focused on the path in front of her, her legs pumping, her breath coming in ragged gasps. The cold air hits her like a slap, but she doesn't feel it. All she feels is the hot, burning anger in her chest. Her thoughts are a jumble as she sprints down the alley, her eyes darting from shadow to shadow. She can't believe Jordan is here, working with Armstrong. She thought she'd left that part of her life behind, but it seems the past has a way of catching up with her. She needs to get somewhere safe, to call Tim and tell him what's happening. She can't let Nolan face this alone.Back in Lucy and Lauren's apartment, the sound of knocking echoes through the quiet space, interrupting Lucy's tumultuous thoughts. For a brief moment, she considers ignoring it, burying herself in the comforting darkness of the couch cushions, but the urgency in the knocks is unmistakable. With a sigh, she peels herself off the couch and makes her way to the door, her hand shaking as she reaches for the knob.As she opens the door, she's met with the sight of Tim, his eyes wide with concern. "Tim?" Lucy asks, her voice cracking slightly. "What are you doing here?""Is Lauren not here?" Tim asks, his voice thick with worry as he holds up a case of beer. "I called, but she didn't answer. Thought I'd stop by, check on her.""I haven't seen her since this morning," Lucy says, her voice trailing off. She swallows hard, trying to find the right words. "I'm uh...just a bit confused. She said you guys broke up..."Tim sighs while he sets the beer down on the table, "I'm not sure what happened, that's why I'm here to talk to her." He runs a hand through his hair, his eyes searching Lucy's apartment for any sign of Lauren. The room feels empty without her, and his heart sinks as he realizes she might not be here."It's okay," Lucy says, trying to hide her own concern. "We had a bit of a... talk earlier." She fidgets with the edge of her shirt, her mind racing with the conversation they'd had. "I think she just needed some space."Tim nods, his expression tightening. "Look, I know me and her had our ups and downs today, but something's not right. She's not answering my calls or texts, and she's not at the station either." His eyes meet Lucy's, the worry in them unmistakable. "Could you maybe try giving her a call? See if she's okay?"Lucy nods quickly, pulling out her phone. She dials Lauren's number, her heart racing as it goes to voicemail. "It's just ringing," she says, trying to keep the panic from her voice. "I'll keep trying."But before she can dial again, Tim's phone buzzes with an unknown number. "Bradford," he barks into the receiver, his hand shaking slightly."Hello?" Lauren's voice says, faint and shaky.Tim's eyes snap to Lucy, the color draining from his face. "Lauren?" he asks his voice tight with fear.On the other end of the line, Lauren's breathing is ragged, and the silence stretches out like a taut wire. "Tim," she whispers, her voice barely audible.Tim's grip tightens around the phone, his heart hammering in his chest. "Lauren, what's going on?" he demands, his voice a mix of fear and urgency. For a moment, there's only the sound of her labored breathing, the rush of blood in his own ears. Then, faintly, she whispers, "Tim, I love you."And then, nothing. The line goes silent. Tim's heart stops, the words echoing in his mind. The call has ended. His hand trembles as he stares at the phone, the screen black. Lucy's eyes are on him, wide with alarm."What the hell just happened?" Lucy asks, her voice a mere whisper in the tense silence that follows the abrupt disconnect. Tim can't form a coherent thought, let alone a response. The words hang in the air, thick and suffocating. Lauren's confession, her desperate plea, the line going dead - it's a nightmare come to life."I don't know," Tim finally says, his voice a hoarse rasp. "But we have to go find her." He's already moving before he finishes speaking, his legs carrying him to the door with a newfound purpose. Lauren's in trouble, and he can't ignore the cold, hard knot in his stomach telling him it's something serious."Tim, wait," Lucy says, her hand on his arm. "You're not thinking straight." But he shakes her off, his eyes wild with a mix of anger and fear."You don't understand," he says, his voice strained. "She told me she loves me." The words hang in the air between them, a stark contrast to the fear that had dominated the conversation only moments before. "Something's wrong."Lucy's eyes soften, and she takes a step closer to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Tim, I know you're worried, but we have to think logically. She might just be busy or needs space. If she's not here by morning we will tell Grey."Tim nods, trying to calm the storm raging within him. He knows Lucy's right; they can't jump to conclusions without more information. But the fear is a living, breathing creature in his chest, demanding action. "Okay," he says, his voice still tight. "We wait until morning, but I'm not leaving it at that. I'll keep trying her phone."
The night passes in a blur of restlessness and worry. Tim barely sleeps, his thoughts racing with every possible scenario, each one worse than the last. When the first light of dawn starts to creep through the blinds, he jumps out of bed and immediately tries Lauren's phone again. It goes straight to voicemail. His hand is shaking as he grabs his keys and heads out the door. He needs to do something, anything to find her. As he's about to start his car, his phone rings, the sound piercing the early morning light He snatches it up, his heart pounding. "Bradford," he answers, his voice a low calm."Come to the station now," Grey says, his voice tight with tension. Before Tim can ask why, the line goes dead. The cold silence stretches out like a noose around his neck. His mind races. What could have happened? Was it about Lauren? The urgency in Grey's voice suggests it's serious.Tim speeds through the early morning streets, the city still waking up around him. When he pulls into the station parking lot, his heart sinks. The lights are on, and officers are milling about, all with the same worried look on their faces. He knows that look. It's the look of a department in crisis. He jogs through the double doors and into the bullpen, where every eye falls on him. The buzz of conversation dies down as he scans the room, looking for any sign of Lauren."Attention everyone," Grey's voice booms out, cutting through the tension like a knife. The officers snap to attention, turning to face their commanding officer. Lauren's empty desk stands out like a silent sentinel, a stark reminder of her absence. Grey's expression is grim, his eyes flitting to Tim briefly before he clears his throat."We have a situation," he says, his tone no-nonsense. "Officer Lauren Clark was abducted last night, according to Officer Nolan." The room goes still, the air thick with shock and disbelief. The color drains from Tim's face, and Lucy's hand flies to her mouth, her eyes wide with horror. Lauren's disappearance has just turned into something far more dire than anyone could have imagined."We believe she's with a man named Jordan Field, her ex-husband. He's a known threat, with a history of violence and ties to the Armstrong case we were working on. We need to find her, and we need to find her now," Grey continues, his voice firm and unwavering. "Teams are being assembled as we speak. Nolan will fill you in on the details."Nolan nods, his eyes scanning the room before he starts to speak. "Lauren and I went to Armstrong's house to arrest him. While we were there, Jordan was also present. I told her to run, to get to safety," he says, his voice tight with emotion. "I haven't heard from her since." The words hang in the air, a stark reminder of the gravity of the situation.Tim's mind races with questions, but he knows now is not the time for them. They need to find Lauren, and they need to do it fast. The room buzzes with urgent whispers and the sound of phones ringing as the team assembles. Grey's instructions are clear and precise, the tension palpable as everyone prepares for the search.Meanwhile, Lauren's world is a whirl of darkness and confusion. Her head throbs with pain, and her arms ache from being bound above her head. She tries to blink away the stars in her vision, but they only swirl and multiply in the inky blackness. Her thoughts are jumbled, trying to piece together the events that led her here. The last thing she remembers is Jordan's smirk before everything went dark. The sound of footsteps approaching snaps her out of her daze, and she tenses, her body bracing for the worst. A door creaks open, and the room is flooded with a harsh, artificial light. She squints, trying to make out the figure that stands before her."Jordan, let me go," Lauren says, her voice steady despite the fear that grips her. She's aware that she's in a precarious position, but she can't let that show.He steps into view, his silhouette menacing against the stark light of the room. His smile is cold, his eyes gleaming with an eerie delight. "Why would I do that, sweetheart?" he asks, his voice a sickly-sweet caress that makes her skin crawl. "You've always loved a good surprise."Lauren's stomach twists as she takes in the sight of him, dressed in black, his gun resting comfortably in his hand. The room is a stark contrast to his casual demeanor, the concrete walls and single bulb swinging from the ceiling giving it the air of an interrogation room from a movie. But this is no movie; this is her reality, and she needs to find a way out."What do you want, Jordan?" she asks, her voice stronger than she feels. She needs to keep him talking, buy time. Maybe she can reason with him, maybe there's still a shred of the man she once knew in there somewhere."Oh, you know what I want," he says, taking a step closer, the light casting deep shadows across his face. "The question is, what do you want? Did you really think you could just leave me and everything would be fine?""I left you because you were dangerous," Lauren spits out, her voice filled with conviction despite the fear that's threatening to consume her. "You're the one who can't let go, who can't accept that it's over."Jordan's smile falters for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he takes a step closer to her. He reaches out, his hand gentle as it brushes a stray strand of hair from her cheek. With a snarl, Lauren jerks her head away, her eyes flashing with anger. "Don't touch me," she warns, her voice low and dangerous. The room feels like it's closing in around her, the air thick with the stench of his cologne and the metallic tang of fear. Jordan chuckles, a sound that sends chills down her spine. "You're still so feisty," he says, his voice a low purr. "But that's what I liked about you. That fire."With a sudden burst of strength, Lauren spits in his face. "Fuck you, Jordan," she says, her voice like steel. The saliva hits him with a wet smack, and for a moment, he's stunned, his hand hovering in midair. Then, the mask of charm slides away, revealing the monster beneath."You've always had a mouth on you," Jordan says, his voice icy. He wipes the spit from his face with the back of his hand, his eyes burning with rage. "But that's going to change."With a flick of his wrist, he produces a knife, the blade glinting in the harsh light. Lauren's heart hammers against her ribs as he takes a step closer, the cold steel of the weapon grazing her skin. She tries to pull away, but her binds hold firm. The smell of fear is palpable, but she refuses to let it define her."Wait, Jordan," she says, her voice a mix of desperation and determination. "I love you." It's a lie, but it's the one thing she knows he wants to hear. His eyes light up with a sickening delight, and he leans in, his breath hot against her face. "You do?"He pauses, the knife hovering dangerously close. "Prove it," he whispers, his eyes searching hers for any sign of deceit. "Say it again."Tears fill her eyes, not of love but of sheer terror and disgust. But she knows she needs to survive, to keep playing his twisted game. "I love you, Jordan," she repeats, the words sticking in her throat like shards of glass. She feels a piece of herself die with every lie that leaves her lips. For a moment, his grip on the knife relaxes, his expression softening into something almost resembling affection. "Good girl," he murmurs, his voice a vile caress. "Now, let's talk about what you're going to do for me."
