Chapter Twelve: Advantage
23:54, 10 February 2013Chapter Twelve: Advantage
**Liam's POV**
My head is spinning with drinks. I'm not much of a drinker so every ounce of liquor I put in my body in the last couple hours count. I feel dizzy and disoriented. I can't even figure out which way is up from the floor.
"Liammm," someone giggles and I feel their body press up against mine. I'm surrounded by people, loud music blasting around us. When did I get off the floor? Who was I dancing with?
"Liammm," another voice says and there's a hand on my bum. Woah, that's my property.
I chuckle though because the feeling is foreign and weird. I spin whoever is in front of me so that they're facing me. Lilah, i recognize as soon as her face looks up at me. She's got this weird dopey smile on her face and I bet she drank twice as much as me, especially judging by the way she sways to the wrong beat.
I don't remember the entire reason I got completely head over heals drunk, but I'm pretty positive it was from the phone call from Danielle. She kept saying something about not being able to come out to LA because she had family issues. We both knew it was because she was really considering her life with me. I bet she just used me the entire time for fame!
Yeah that was it. That was the reason. I bet five hundred pounds that that's the reason.
"Why are you giggling silly boy?" Lilah slurs happily, staring up at me. I grab her waist and spin her with the music.
"No more Danielle. No more problems. Happy Liam!" I dip her backwards. My stomach clutches and I feel like I might puke. Better not do that move again.
"Oh good! Cause I really like youuu," Lilah slurs and wraps her arms around my neck. She's wasted.
The music gets louder and I feel it with every cell in my body. The drinks, the party, the whole college experience. This is beautiful. I could cry in a corner for days from how great this is. Forget Danielle, I don't need her. I can be happy without her! Yeah! That's it. Maybe I'll date someone in LA. Maybe I'll meet someone who makes me even more happy than Danielle did.
"Liam, spin me again! I like spinning. When I was little I wanted to be a ballerina, but everyone said I was too fat to be one. So I joined soccer. Do you think I'm fat?! OOOO CHOCOLATE!" Lilah suddenly runs out of my arms and heads towards the giant table near the dj. I giggle at the blond, green eyed girl. She was a very interesting person when completely drunk out of her mind.
A tall guy steps up to me suddenly and I feel weird not dancing in the middle of the giant mob of people. "Can I help you?" I ask the tall curly haired stranger. I've never seen this guy in my life. Was he going to hit on me?!
He grins suddenly revealing a perfect set of teeth. I squint at him. He seems really familiar. "Just to let you know, I've known Lilah for the longest time. I know that she gets really....out of hand when drunk and I'm warning you right now Liam of One Direction. You better not take advantage of her. She goes through phases of being drunk and her hangovers are even worse. If she realizes she did someone she isn't one hundred percent okay with, she's going to be devastated by morning. My advice would to just keep your superstar hands off of her. Got it?" He speaks rapidly to me and my muddled mind has to work fifty times harder just to understand everything he's saying.
What I picked up was "don't touch Lilah" and "gets really emotional afterwards, before, during, and everything after that." I'm pretty sure that's a good summary of the guy's dreadful monologue. Who was this guy anyways? Her security guard? Her brother? Her boyfriend?
"Whatever you say mate. I'll keep these paws to myself," I giggle and raise my hands at him. I never realized how strange my hands look at this angle. Maybe it's just a couple fingers are bigger than normal. What if something was happening to my fingers! Oh my god!
"Thomas?!" Lilah comes back and glares at the curly haired boy. Thomas...why does that ring a bell?
"Lilah, I hope you are making good decisions," he says to her. Jeeze this guy really does need to loosen up. I wonder if he's had any drinks yet.
"Dude, why don't you go get something to drink. I can take care of this pretty little blond," I say and grab Lilah's waist, pulling her back to me. She giggles and stares up at me with wide green eyes.
"Yeah Thomas, go away," she mutters to him.
Thomas watches her with a slight frown as she wraps her arms around my body. Her giggling is getting out of control and she rubs her face against my shirt. I feel like she's some kind of kitten in my arms. Thomas runs a hand through his hair before sighing and looking back at me.
"Keep her safe please. Don't let her get hurt," Thomas mutters and I almost miss it. With a slight grin, he turns and walks away from us.
Lilah bounces on her toes, staring up at me. "OOO he's gone! I was wondering when he would leave! Let's dance! Liammm!" she giggles harder, attracting a couple peopel's attention.
I glare at the back of Thomas' retreating back. He killed my mood. Damn you college boy.
**Thomas' POV**
I don't trust these British boys. I don't care how much Lilah may think she knows about them because of the internet. I don't think they are the best influence on her behaviors. Sure, I drink and I party but I would never take advantage of Lilah in any way, shape, or form. I know that she gets really wasted to a point when she can't remember anything she's said or done by morning.
I head upstairs towards my dorm room. I probably won't be getting any sleep since there's a giant party happening on the ground floor, but I need time to think. I can't help but flashback to the party that changed it all between Lilah and I.
"Hey Thomas, are you going to make it to the party tonight? I think it'll be loads of fun," Lilah said with a wide grin on her face. We were just leaving rehearsals and there's a bit of sweat shining on her still. She looked beautiful in the green tank top that made her eyes look even greener than usual.
"Of course, I wouldn't miss this one," I said, bumping her with my shoulder. The party would be the biggest talked about party of the whole school year. This was the Senior Survival Party, a tradition amongst the seniors at our school.
"Great, I'll see you in a couple hours," she said before running off to her mom who was waiting in the car already. I waved and walked to my own car. That night would change my entire life.
It was a couple hours later and I arrived to an already full house. The house belonged to one of the football players at school whose parents were obviously out for the night. I walked into the house to find Lilah, she had texted me to meet her in the kitchen.
The house was huge and difficult to navigate through with all the high school kids in the way. i greeted a couple people before meeting up with Lilah in the kitchen. In her hand was a red cup and she didn't hesitate to put one in my own hand.
"Cheers Thomas!" she yells befpre hitting her cup with mine, tilting her own to her mouth. I shamelessly watched her exposed neck as her fell backwards. I wanted to kiss that portion of skin. Such beautiful skin. "Let's have another before we dance!" Lilah squeals happily and gets another round of beer for us to chug down.
It was all good fun. I didn't know at the time how much of a lightweight Lilah was. I remember her guiding me to the dancing party and I just grabbed her waist as she swayed against my body. There was heat and loud music. Bodies on bodies. Everything was blurred from the amount of alcohol in my system. I wanted to kiss the girl I danced with. I wanted Lilah to know how I felt about her.
We stopped dancing every now and then to get some more beer. We must have drank dozens of cups. I thought I felt fine. I had to be a man about drinking, none of that sissy drinking. That wasn't me. I might have been a drama geek but I wasn't uncool. I still did sports and hung out with the guys.
There were about fifty of us left in the house. Lilah and I were seated on one of the couches in the other room away from all the dancing. She said something about being dizzy and lead me away from the crowd. I didn't think past anything else other than getting into a room alone with her.
Lilah snuggled into my chest. "You know, I think drinking is actually bad for you," she giggled. Her breath reeked of alcohol but I didn't put space between us.
"Maybe for you Lilah, you're all loppy," I muttered and put my arm around her.
"Well your voice sounds weird," she giggled harder and sat up suddenly, facing me. "You know Thomas, I really like your voice. Will you sing to me?" Her green eyes widened, so innocent.
I cupped her face hardly knowing what I was doing. "Tonight, we are young. So let's set the world on fire...we can burn brighter...than the sun..," I sang quietly just for her. My voice came out slurred and words made no sense half of the time but I sang directly to Lilah. Her green eyes never stopped staring into my own eyes.
And then we were kissing. A lot. Her body was on top of mine and I remember not wanting to stop. I couldn't stop. She was Lilah, the girl I've wanted for the longest time. And when she whispered, "don't stop" in my ear....I didn't.
I couldn't.
That night I lost myself in Lilah, our bodies one. But in the end the only thing I lost was her. She didn't remember anything and I knew if I told her about it, she'd hate me. I took advantage of a drunk girl. I felt bad. I felt terrible.
The next morning I called Stacy and told her I wanted to be with her. Stacy had been giving off hints every day and I didn't know what else to do in order to drive Lilah away. I didn't want her to know that a guy she had trusted had taken advantage of her. She doesn't remember a thing.
I know she doesn't.
And it sucks.
