The Bow That Broke The Key
03:24, 18 February 2021Karl's body felt nothing and everything at the same time. Pure concisions traveling through time, until finally he felt he was in his body again. His senses slowly came to him. First it was sight obviously, and he saw he was sitting in the caravan. His friends in the van as well, having lively conversations. His eyes widened, he was way too shaken up to be thrown into this position usually he had about 5 minutes to try to compose himself.
His head felt as if someone had smashed a hammer against it, and his eyes felt droopy.
The trio were currently sitting in the van with Tubbo and Fundy.
"Uh Karl?" Sapnap questioned.
Karl knew he probably looked high or drunk. His head physically spinning in circles and he kept blinking hard to try to adjust to how he's here, right now in this moment.
"Mm?" Karl hummed, and looked at Sapnap with a weak smile.
Karl and Sapnap were sitting next to each other. On the other side of the table in the van, Quackity and Tubbo were talking loudly. Fundy joining in every few sentences. Granted Fundy could be loud but, sometimes he was a wallflower. Patiently watching and listening.
"You okay?" Sapnap asked. His brows furrowed in concern which made Karl's heart swell.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," Karl let his head rest on Sapnap trying to regain composure. Sapnap was always fell in the same comfortable touches as Karl did. All his worries would be watered down, and as much as he would deny, if asked, he loved that Karl's love language was touch.
As Karl's eyes scanned the room he realized someone very important wasn't there. He threw his head up, almost hitting Sapnap in the nose. He flung both of his hands on the table urgently making everyone jump.
"Tubbo, where is Tommy?" Karl said seriously, it made Tubbo shiver with how Karl looked so deadly focused in his eyes.
"I don't know? He said he was going to do something funny to George or something?" He questioned. The thought made Tubbo smile, as much as they did fight they really were the best of friends.
"Did he tell you where?" Karl responded quickly.
"Well, he did tell me he was meeting with Ranboo," Tubbo answered looking confused on why all of a sudden Karl was so interested on where Tommy was.
"Great," He said sarcastically, and with that he walked out of the caravan without a look back.
It all clicked then, this had to be why he was exiled. A stupid prank got him exiled from everyone? In Karl's mind yeah, he was a impulse ruled kid, who most of the time isn't responsible. But, he's a kid he shouldn't have gotten thrown out for a mistake like that.
Once he was outside the sun shined down on his face, making his eyes hurt. He still felt a bit dizzy but he was all in all feeling okay.
His mind was running with possibilities. Should he go to Ranboo's house? But, then what if he was late? He just had to stop this, what was he going to do to George? Where should he go? Where even is George? He tried to breathe but he felt so clueless, he decided he would just go to George's house and see if he could find him there.
He finally arrived at the small hobbit house, covered in red mushrooms. He did have to admit the house was very adorable. He started to knock on the door.
"Hey George, you there?"
No response.
So he must be somewhere else, he groaned in frustration. Where was he even going to find George? Would George even talk to him? Until Karl's tension released when he heard that all too familiar too loud laugh.
Thank god, he found Tommy which was just as equally good as finding George. He had sight on at least one of them. He turned around now facing Tommy, but saw that he was walking side by side with Ranboo. Then his eyes trailed down Tommy's arm seeing now that there was TNT in his hands.
"Tommy?" Karl questioned.
"Oh Karl, hey!" Tommy grinned as he stopped in front of him.
"Hey Karl," Ranboo said quietly.
"What are you doing here?" Karl asked as casually as he could, "And why do you have TNT?"
He was now resting his hand on the door looking like an exaggerated cartoon character trying not to be suspicious.
Ranboo and Tommy exchanged a look, a silent question loomed in Tommy's eyes. Ranboo thought for a few moments before nodding, signaling to Tommy he could.
"We wanted to...get ready!' Tommy did a fake drumroll, waiting a few moments "Pull a prank on George," Tommy smiled until he saw Karl didn't have the same expression.
"Yeah? What's that?" Karl asked firmly, crossing his arms.
"We wanted to blow up this fine beauty, and besides he can just rebuild it," Tommy stated as he motioned towards the small hobbit house.
"C'mon Tommy, maybe that isn't the best idea," Karl responded, looking like a parent lecturing their kid.
Tommy's face fell realizing Karl didn't think this was funny, which turned to anger quickly. This is just how Tommy was, at least in Karl's mind. A kid who didn't think twice about actions, nor words. He sometimes couldn't believe Tommy was the Vice President. The world would truly be hell if Tommy was president.
Then he looked over Karl's shoulder, his anger faded into a mischievous grin.
"Too late Karl," Tommy laughed.
Karl turned around to see Ranboo with a flint in hand, TNT covered the house.
"No!" Karl cried out but it was too late, Ranboo lighted the TNT. All three of them back up, and watched as George's house was blown to smithereens.
Tommy and Ranboo were far gone, leaving a distraught Karl. Sitting in the grass looking at the blown up house.
What was he supposed to do now? He thought of starting over but he knew traveling to the same date again would have a negative affect on his memory. He tried to form a plan in his mind. He felt as if he was connecting strings in his head.
He decided on a plan. He would just try to convince Dream to not exile Tommy. He finally got the energy to stand up, even though his body was begging to lie down. To give up. No, he couldn't. With that he got up, and started for L'Manberg.
"Hey Karl," Quackity exclaimed. He was happy to see him after his sporadic departure from the camarvan.
"Hey," He responded tiredly.
He sat down,on the all too familiar bench, and let his head rest against Quackity. Who was going to make a joke out of it until he saw Karl's tired eyes. He smiled, then continued his debate about "The End" with Sapnap.
It was always strange to be in a moment you already lived in. Knowing what's going to happen. He looked up and saw the bee, but this time he simply admired. But, his relaxing was short lived when Sapnap pointed out Dream, speechless he was here. Karl simply tried to act he was surprised, but he was tired. He felt as if he was just seeing events and not actually living them.
"Quackity!"Tubbo yelled then stopped in front of them.
Same worried expression as last time, Karl felt as if they were all on a movie script and he was the director. This moment being as if they were rehearsing lines.
He dozed off the conversation, staring at Dream. How could he exile a kid? Did all of this really need to happen? He wanted so badly in that moment to throw the watch on the ground, watching it shatter into hundreds of pieces. He wanted to yell at the world 'Take it back! Take it back!'
"Ok, ok it's fine lets go see why," Quackity responded, trying to be calm.
Karl zoned back into the conversation, remebering the last time he knew exactly what he was supposed to say.
"Let me come with you!" Karl stated, he tried to act as if he had more energy than he did in reality.
"I-," Tubbo shot Quackity a side glance. With that one look Karl knew what he was thinking. And this would be what time event he's going to change. He just hopes it's for the best.
"Listen Tubbo, you need all the help you can get. I know people don't think I'm strong," At this Tubbo felt guilty because that was in fact what he was thinking, "But, I can be. Please, don't shut out more help." He pleaded.
Tubbo thought about it for a second. He needed all the help he could get, Karl is apart of their team. He needed all the support he could get.
"Okay fine come with, and you too Sapnap," Tubbo glanced at Sapnap. Sapnap's worries of Dream subdued a little, knowing he had an objective now. Keeping his friends safe.
The team started following a wood path to the walls. Fundy joining them halfway through, trying to ask what was going on which Quackity gave a brief description to but he was confused as well. Everyone was lost except one, up until this moment. Now, Karl had nothing to fall back on. This finally settled on his shoulders, having lost most of his confidence after failing to save L'Manberg. He had to get this right no screw ups.
They arrived at the obsidian walls. Karl felt somehow secure, knowing that their were many people their. Ready to be strong when he couldn't be.
"Dream!" Tubbo yelled.
This caused the older man building obsidian to stop. Dream turned to look at them slowly, his dirty blonde hair being swept to the side. He had his smile mask on, it felt insulting to look at. He stayed there for a few moments just looking, until he slid his mask to the side to reveal dead eyes.
It made Karl shiver under his stare, he looked far more numb than Sapnap had described.
"Hello Tubbo," He said more cheerfully than expected, and a small smile spread across his face.
"Dream, why are you doing this," Tubbo said loudly. This time Tubbo succeeded on sounding more brave than he was when Dream raised his eyebrows ever so slightly.
"Well, I heard Tommy blew up someone's house," He looked over the line of people standing in front of him.
This made Tubbo turn around to see a furious looking Tommy, until Tommy met Tubbo's ice cold eyes and his anger faltered into almost guilt.
"Tommy, what did you do!?" Tubbo shouted.
At this Tommy flinched back which made Karl confused, he never cowered at anybody, but maybe it was different this time. Such harsh anger coming from his best friend. The one who stood by his side since the beginning.
"It was a prank I didn't," His mouth went dry as he looked let his head look from left to right at the obsidian walls surrounding his home.
"You didn't what Tommy? Think for once about your actions!" Tubbo yelled, finally letting his anger pool out about Tommy's antics.
"I do think about my actions!" Tommy responded loudly, he said it in a way he was trying to convince himself more than his best friend standing in front of him.
"Tommy, why do you always do this," Tubbo said bitterly turning back to Dream.
Tommy's breath went still at the motion, almost as it was a physical symbol that he was angry at him.
"Dream," Tubbo sighed, "What do you want?"
Dream smiled, "Well if there's a problem Tubbo, you have to take it out."
Dream currently had his arms crossed, standing on the obsidian wall. Almost looming over the group that stood in front of him.
Tommy stilled at these words, he knew what they went.
"You bastard, I'm not leaving!" Tommy yelled hurt.
At this point Sapnap was filled with worries, but he tried as hard as he could to remain strong. Which seemed easy because Dream hadn't even gave him a second glance. Until now.
"Dream, please he's a kid!" Sapnap shouted looking up to meet Dream's cold eyes.
"Sapnap?" Dream said sarcastically suprised, "I didn't even notice you were gone," He smiled.
At this Sapnap took a physical step back, feeling his hear actually ache.
"Sapnap you're better than this," Dream held his hand against his chest, "I'll give you one more chance, join me. Come back."
Sapnap felt his mind reeling, he couldn't go back not after he saw how Dream really was. He would be safe but not at the loss of his new friends and home. He looked over to his left. Quackity standing there and on Quackity's left Karl. He couldn't leave, never. They were different, pure light in his mind.
"Dream, no I'm not going back. You're a heartless human being," Sapnap spat out bitterly.
He expected Dream to falter show some kind of emotion but he just sat their with a blank expression. Taking in fully what Sapnap had said to him, almost not believing it. Then he broke out into a wicked grin.
"You're going to regret that," Dream replied.
It happened before they could even register it, swiftly, Dream pulled out his crossbow and fired it right at Sapnap. Landing directly on his heart.
Thank you a million times if you got down here! I really hope you enjoyed this chapter and I hope you have a good day/night! Bye!
