The Evil

05:08, 30 March 2022

I woke up, mentally preparing to care for five new objects, as well as more learning for Snowball and starting learning for Pen. Maybe I'm in over my head. But it's kinda too late now. I got ready swiftly and left my house, ready to take in the new objects. When I got there I could hear a slue of crying mixed with squeals. They really grabbed them out all at once? Crazy man. I walked into the lab and watched him wrap them all in one towel, handing them off to me.

"They're all ready, do what you please." He said, walking past me back to his office. I opened the towel and watched the small objects climb over each other like puppies. They all miraculously had arms! Considering the first two were armless, I didn't expect such an armed outcome. I took the five to one of the rooms and placed them all down in it. They instantly were crawling around and grabbing at each other to play. Thankfully they aren't as clingy as Snowball, I only have two pockets- SNOWBALL! I closed the emergency door calmly and went to their rooms. I slammed the button to open the doors. Golfball, Tennis Ball, and Pen walked out. But Snowball wasn't there. I left them to walk to their compartment and went to Foster's doorway.

"Um, Dr.Foster, where is Snowball? He isn't in his sleeping room." Dr. Foster turned to me.

"The punishment room above compartment one. Also, bring him back over to me in the lab after you're done with his education today, we're not done." I nodded and turned away. I couldn't believe it. Poor boy. I went to where the room above the other room was, quickly opening the door. The darkroom filled with light as Snowball quickly awoke.

"Dr. Xavier!" He cried, jumping out into my hands. He hugged around my fingers.

"I don't wanna go back, Xavier! It's too scary!" He cried into my hand. I felt horrible. Mainly because I would hand him off to Foster in a couple of hours. I just pet him as I brought him to his room. Everyone stared curiously as I set him down. He wiped his tears and quickly began chatting again. Glad to see him back on his feet. Until I let Foster mess with him again.

I'll... um... be back later with lunch." I said quietly, closing the door and going to the room next door. I opened the door and none of the kids reacted. They were just climbing over each other and giggling, obviously not too aware of many things in their lives yet. I scooped them all up at once and brought them to my office. I set them down and grabbed my papers to write done what I could. I inspected all their mouths. Pin, Pencil, and Needle, were girls, and Eraser and Copper Coin were boys. Easy enough. I used my arm to push them away from the edge and one cried. I looked down and Pencil had started bawling, obviously out of a disturbance. I picked her up and found a small hole in her side. I comforted her the best I could. I tried to figure out how she got it, then I realized she was next to Pin's point. I lied Pencil back down and grabbed Pin and Needle. They both didn't struggle and I brought them to Dr. Foster's office. They turned to me and sighed.

"What now?" He asked, annoyance in his voice. I tried to stand straight.

"U-Um Pin and Needles point is a danger to the o-others, do we have a way to f-fix that?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady but kept stuttering. Foster thought for a moment, before opening a drawer on his desk and rummaging through it. He pulled out a small roll of black electrical tape. He held it out so I grabbed it.

"Wrap it over the point, it should help for now. Tomorrow we'll just file down the point." I felt my throat tighten. I really don't want to do that. It's probably like filing down teeth. And the thought made me shiver. But I just nodded.

"Alright, sir. Will do." I muttered, leaving his office. I sighed, thinking of how upset they'll be when it happens. I heard a small thud, and then crying in my office. Oh no. I left the others alone on the table! I ran in and could see that Eraser had fallen on the ground. He cried, trying to use his hands to help himself up but he was stuck on his back. I quickly set Pin and Needle down and grabbed Eraser off the ground. I cradled him in my hands and shushed him quietly.

"It's okay now. I promise." I said softly, petting him. He calmed himself down and I set him down on the desk and grabbed the electrical tape. I grabbed Pin and began wrapping a small bit around her point. She seemed upset by it, grabbing at it, trying to take it off. I finished Needles and moved Pin's small hands from her point.

"Please don't touch it Pin." She frowned but didn't grab at it again. I moved to my tall shelf and grabbed nine small packs of food. Nine? That's so many. I wonder how many more will be here. I unpacked five of them and helped them eat one by one. After finally feeding them all I took them to the room next to the other room and left for their lunch. I opened the emergency door and they all looked up at me happily.

"Hey, Dr. Xavier!" Golfball said happily. I leaned down with the food and handed it out to everyone. They all began eating.

"So today Pen and Snowball are doing learning. Golfball and Tennis Ball, you guys can do whatever you please." Golfball frowned.

"I want to read more! I have nothing to do!" She whined. I thought for a moment. I swore I saw something about books in the overview packet.

"I'll look into some entertainment for you guys later. Now since you guys are so fast let's start, follow me, you guys!" I said motioning for Pen and Snowball to follow me. Pen seemed eager to start, but Snowball seemed jittery and nervous. Not that I could blame him. We all sat down and started. Pen didn't do well at first, but after a little, he caught on and did great. Snowballs still struggling to catch on. And it's not like he wasn't trying, he seemed to be trying his absolute hardest, but he'd get really frustrated about not getting it. I didn't stress it though. Why do they need an education anyway? They had both finished and calmly talked with each other when Foster approached behind me.

"I'll be taking the snowball if it's done." I looked down at Snowball, he looked up at me fearfully. But I couldn't go against Foster.

"Yes. He's done." I muttered. Foster slipped past me and grabbed Snowball. They was so aggressive with him. He held them like he was preparing to throw him at the wall, harsh grip. I watched them walk off with Snowball, I hope he doesn't get in trouble this time.

Dr. Foster dropped Snowball on the metal table. Snowball cowered at their every move. Dr. Foster turned and dropped the blue weight in front of him.

"You know the drill." He said coldly, he had dropped the professional facade. Snowball reluctantly began.

It was quite a while of silent training, Foster simply watching on as Snowball struggled with each new and heavier weight. When finally, he lifted the heaviest one, which was 5 pounds. Snowball successfully lifted the cube after many attempts. He yelled, slamming it down on the metal table. Foster put the weight away.

"Well done. If I find any more use for you I'll bring you back here. Don't give me a reason." He said, grabbing Snowball again and bring him to his room and shoving him in.

Snowball sat up shakily, hurt from the fall. His friends surrounded him.

"Are you okay Snowball?" Golfball asked him quietly. He sat silent.

"He looks okay." Pen said, inspecting his cowering demeanor.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Snowball said coldly.

"You don't seem fine." Golfball said, standing closely behind him. He pulled his knees to his chest.

"Well, I am." He said.

"It's okay to not be okay, you can tell us!" Tennis Ball reassured him. Snowball clenched his fists.

"But I'm fine so don't bother." He muttered. Golfball looked over his shoulder.

"Come one Snowball! We can help you." She said happily. Snowball clenched his teeth.

"I said I'm FINE!" He yelled, standing up and slamming his fist back. He immediately heard a cracking noise on impact, as well as pain on his hand. He spun around, backing away from Golfball. She stared at him with a blank expression, a small crack sprawling across her face. And then, she started bawling. Snowball felt another new feeling. He didn't know what it was but it made him feel sick. Pen quickly backed away to a wall and Tennis Ball looked around for help. He saw the small red button next to the door and pressed it, yelling into the speaker above.

A light flashed on the metal indication wall. It was coming from the first room, was it an accident? But the speaker sputtered to life.

"HELP! HE-SHE-SNOWBALL-" a familiar voice yelled through the speaker. It seemed they didn't know what the button did. The message cut out spastically as if they were hitting the button repeatedly instead of holding it down. I instantly shot up and ran to their room, opening the emergency door. Golfball wailed loudly, a nervous Tennis Ball slamming the button on the wall and yelling. Snowball stared at her from a corner, he looked like he was frozen with fear. I grabbed Snowball and Golfball and left the other two alone in the room.

I brought Snowball and Golf Ball to my office, setting them both down. I quickly grabbed my overview, trying to remember what page had the treatment for injuries. I found it, and tried to skim over it. It says I can use some of the liquid Foster made to make them and put it on the wound. Then I just let them sleep with it on and wipe it off the next morning. Easy enough. I held Golfball and tried to comfort her, but she seemed completely in pain.

I brought her to the lab and set her on the table. I turned from her and opened the fridge, grabbing one of the vials. I set it on the table next to her and opened it. I was wearing gloves so I didn't actually touch it, but I could feel how liquidy and gross it was. Golfball still cried as I rubbed the green liquid on the crack across her face, still trying to soothe her.

"See! I'm gonna make it all better! Please don't cry!" I pleaded quietly. She tried to stop herself from crying.

"Alright, what happened?" I asked as if it wasn't clear what happened.

"Snowball hit me! I just wanted to help him!" She cried. I pet her.

"Maybe you should go to bed, you'll be better by morning, I promise." Golfball sniffled.

"A-Alright." She replied quietly. I sighed and carried her to her room. Afterward, I went back to my office, Snowball sat on my desk quietly. I sat at my chair in front of him.

"Snowball-" he instantly started crying his heart out.

"I DIDN'T MEAN TO! I-I JUST DIDN'T WANT THEM TO TALK TO ME A-AND I'M SORRY!" He cried out in a jumbled mess. I went to pet him and he grabbed my finger.

"PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME GO BACK IN THE ROOM! I CAN'T GO BACK THERE IT'S SO SCARY!" He yelled, crying more. I picked him up and pet him.

"Of course I won't do that Snowball, I know you don't like it, maybe you should get some rest," I said bringing him to the sleeping rooms. I'd bring the others in after. But I was worried about Snowball. Maybe he didn't mean it. But it's obvious this "training" is not good for him, he doesn't know his own strength. I hope he'll get better.

I DID take long
