Chapter 36

I look up to find Lando's car is pushed lengthways, up against the barrier. I see Lando covered with big pieces of the barrier that have broken off. I jump out the car and stumble a little, regaining my strength as I run over to his car. "Lando! Are you ok?" I yell, pulling the pieces off of the cockpit. "I think so." He groans back. Once I cleared the debris, the marshals have arrived to help, the medical car pulling up as well. I remove Lando's steering wheel and undo his seat belt.

He tries to climb out the car and I help him. Once he is on the ground he wraps me in a hug. "I'm so glad we are both ok." I just manage to hear him say. "Me too." I say. "I'm really sorry about that. We were both doing so well." I say to him. "Yeah, we were." He says as we let go. The medics rush to us just as we see the rest of the grid drive past us behind the safety car. They split us up, checking that we are both ok.

After I have been thoroughly checked by the medics. I have been diagnosed with a minor concussion and some strained neck muscles. I have been told that I should just take it slow for a few days. Thankfully, I hear that Lando has the same result. I'm very glad that we are both relatively ok.

I walk out of the medical center, Helmet in my hands. Through the paddock back to my driver room. "Hannah! Wait!" I hear the familiar voice of Lando behind me. I stop and watch him jog up to me. "Are you ok?" He asks concerned. "Yeah I'm fine. You?" I ask. "I'm good. That was intense. I'm so glad we are both ok though." He says. "Me too." I reply. "Can I hug you?" He asks. I nod my head, really needing one of his hugs right now.

His arms wrap around my waist and mine around his neck. I melt into his arms, after missing this feeling it feels so nice. "I missed this." He sighs. I pull back but his arms still stay around my waist. "I know and I think I am ready to put what happened past me. I have thought about it and today showed me how quickly things can change and it made me realize I don't want to spend another second without you. I understand the situation you were in when that happened and I'm willing to put that in the past." I say and his face is covered in a smile.

"Are you saying you will take me back." He asks, excitedly. "Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying." And that's all the confirmation he needs to pick me up and swing me around. "Yes! You have no idea how happy this makes me. I promise nothing like that will ever happen again." He says. "It better not." I smile as he puts me down. He leans in to kiss me but I dodge him. "Sorry, but maybe not just yet. Please can we just take it slow." I say, feeling bad but I don't feel comfortable just yet. "Yes of course. It's ok, I get it." He replies, hurt flashing through his eyes but dissapearing quickly. "Thank you." I say with a small smile.

"Hannah! Come we have to go. Christian is not going to be happy." Kaylee yells at me from a few meters away. "Bye Lan. I'll see you later." I wave at him, running off. "Bye Han!" I hear him yell from behind me and we speed walk back to garage. Nerves fill my stomach as I am worried about what awaits me. "I gave you a few extra minutes with Lando because I saw you two were having a moment but you have interviews now. Christian is not too charmed about the crash." Kaylee says as we walk to the garage.

"I understand that this is your first crash of the season so I'll go easy on you. But don't you ever think of pulling something like that again. I'm glad you are ok though. You're also lucky they deemed that a racing incident." Christian says to me as we are both in his office. "I know you have interviews now but maybe take a minute or two to yourself and the go." He suggests. "I will, thanks Christian." I say and walk out his office towards my driver room.

I down a bottle of water and change out my racing suit into my jeans and Red Bull team shirt. I leave my hair in their braids and walk out, meeting Kaylee and the entrance to the garage as we walk into the paddock. "Podium is Max, Hamilton and Charles." Kaylee informs me. "Ok great. Still some good points for the team." I say as we approach the empty media pen, only consisting of Lando and his press officer.

At some point the two of us end up having an interview next to each other. The people that were interviewing me asked. "We have noticed that you and Lando have been kind of distant recently. What happened?" He asked. I sighed a little. "It's a long story and I'm not going to explain but what has happened has happened and I still love him with all my heart. We got through this rough patch and it will only make us stronger." I say into the mic before glancing at Lando, who is smiling proudly at me.

"So Hannah, how has your week been?" I get asked as I walk up to my Sky sports interview in front of the Red Bull garage. "This week has been tough. Obviously dealing with some personal things but also training and working hard for this race." I reply. "We saw you were involved in a nasty crash." He says and they replay the crash in slow motion on the screen infront of us. "Oh my gosh. I haven't seen this. That looks insane." I say as I slowly watch the footage of the two cars fly through the gravel.

They show me rage a little before I notice Lando. "Now this, I thought, was quite adorable." One of the interviewers say as I jump out the car and run over to Lando's pulling the debris away. "I have never seen two drivers hug each other after a crash like that." He says, turning to me. "We were both just really glad that we came out relatively unscathed. And he is also my boyfriend so I have an excuse to be worried about him when he crashes." I say with a small smile, the interviewers laugh a little. "Normally there is some yelling and shoving." He comments. "Yeah. We did apologize to each other just now though so we are all good." I say.

"Oh yes. How is your relationship going." They ask. "We went through a little bit of a rough patch this past week but I think we have figured it out and we are stronger together now." I say with a smile, talking about Lando always makes me smile.
