Chapter 31 - The Swan and The Pirate

~ Last chapter of this book! Pls comment your thoughts throughout and I'm sorry in advance! Enjoy!~

: Writer's POV :

A sleeping Swan lay calmly on the sofa, resting on her Pirate's chest. A ticking clock infront of them both read 9:30pm, Friday.

Dreams of newborns and happiness floated through Emma's mind. No horrific impulses of violence nor terror afoot. It was just so peaceful.

You might have a sweet image in your head right now; a married couple, who are expecting a baby, are both sound asleep beside eachother. Unfortunately your wrong. Emma may be asleep, but her love is not.

Killian sat stiffly, staring out of the window, watching the waves crash against the beach. He was wondering what he was going to do when the time came. When the clock struck 10. He knew he had to go, he had to leave her. He had to end this so that she could have their child in peace; no nightmares involved.

Killian did know for sure he was going to meet Liam, but what he did not know was what was going to happen. Liam may become angered that Emma did not do as she was told and decide to kill her instead. Therefore ending the life of not one, but two people Killian loved so very much. Or he could kill Killian himself. Leaving a child fatherless and a wife a widow.

Thoughts like this raced through Killian's mind, never ending. He finally looked away from the sea and turned to the clock; it said 9:50pm.

Realisation hit him like a brick to the face. I might die. This might be the last time I see her. I might never meet my child. But he was willing to do what was necessary for his wife's, and his child's, safety. Even if it took his life.

Carefully, he slipped out of Emma's grasp, leaving her to lay alone on the sofa. Alone.

His bright blue eyes shone in the moonlight as he bent down and pressed his lips to her forehead.

"I'm sorry, Swan. I have to do this. If I don't come back, just please know I love you and our child." He whispers to her, his heart shatters slightly. Quietly, he tiptoes out of the room and to the front door.

Before he can open it, however, a thought forms in his mind. I didn't write her a note. She's going to wake up and find me most probably dead at Granny's Diner. And there goes the rest of his hope for returning.

The door creaks open and he slips through, keeping his eyes locked infront of him; not once looking back in fear of crumbling.

He arrives at the diner seconds before the clock tower chimes ten. Peering through the window, Killian could see his half-brother staring out the window to the sea. The same sea he had been looking to for hope not long ago.

Liam sat in one of the booths. The same booth that Emma and Killian would always sit in. Fond memories flew through Killian's mind, he took a breath in and reached for the door.

His hand clasps around the cold metal, sending a shiver up his spine. Killian opens the door, a visible grin appears on Liam's face.

"Emma. I knew you'd come. Now, did you bring the Pirate?" He still faced the window so he did not currently know the real visitor.

"I'm afraid she was busy. Carrying a baby is quite tiring, don't you think?" Killian tried to keep himself from lunging at Liam straight away. Even if he had come here knowing he might die, that did not mean he wouldn't put up a fight.

Liam spins his head around so fast it might of even come off. The blue in his eyes seem to be suddenly engulfed in flames of terror, anger and hatred.

"I'm sorry I didn't send a reply to your loving letter, but I had more urgent thoughts on my mind. For example: getting rid of you. " Killian threatens, stepping closer to his sibling.

"Thought you would save your wife the trouble of killing you? Gunna let me do it myself instead?" Liam stands up from the booth, now feet away from Killian.

"Not without a fight I'm not."

"You? Fight me? You have one hand! I have magic!" He lets out a deep laugh, just like the one in Killian's dream.

"I'm a tad bit older than you, I'm afraid. I think I'll manage." Killian smirks at Liam, making him turn slightly red.

"I dont think age matter in these circumstances. Lets make it fair, shall we? Here." Liam waves his hand and a gun appears in both his, and Killian's hand. "No magic, I swear." He puts his hands up and grins, Killian's jaw clenches.

"Fine, I'll play your game." Killian only just has time to finish his sentence before he is forced to quickly duck from an incoming bullet. It vaguely misses him; just slightly grazing his ear. He flinches and reaches his hand up to examine the small wound. Once he pulls his hand down there is blood soaking into his fingertips. Liam had aimed right for the head, hoping to be done with the deed there and then. Fortunately, Killian's years as a pirate taught him one thing: always be aware.

"Sorry mate, you missed." Killian taunts.

Liam curses to himself and begins to lock and load his next bullet. Killian begins to do the same, but starts to panic when his hook does not co-operate. He looks up to the man in front of him frantically. This was not fair; he could not load his gun due to the fact he only had one hand.

He was a dead man.

Before anymore endings to this scenario could be thought of in Killian's mind, another bullet is shot towards him. This time Killian isn't so fortunate. The bullet charges into his right shoulder, therefore leaving him unable to even try with the gun. He grunts in pain, nearly dropping to the floor in pain.

Liam laughs maniacally, a grin spreading across his face. The idea of Killian in pain actually brought happiness into his cold, dark heart.

Once again, Liam pauses to lock and load his next bullet. Possibly the one to pierce a heart. Killian stands only a couple metres away from him, as white as snow and his jaw clenching like mad. In times like this, a person with both hands would be gripping their wound and trying to sustain their blood. But Killian could not. He was forced to stand there, constantly losing the liquid that kept him alive since he did not have his left hand to help him. A hook would only cause himself more terrible, terrible pain.

The lights inside of the Diner begin to flicker before a loud crashing sound muffles Killian's pain momentarily. A woman stood at the door, her blonde hair cascading down her back and a red jacket hugging her pregnant figure.

The two men turned their bodies, one more easily than the other, to see the new intruder. One man grinned and the other looked crushed.

"Emma! What are you doing here? I thought-" Killian blabbed, his face crinkling in pain.

"Thought you could stop me seeing the letter? Your not great at hiding things, Killian." She replied stiffly.

Liam stood behind Killian, grinning broadly.

"Finally! I was wondering when you would turn up, let me just finish him off and we can go." He stated happily.

"Wait!" Emma screeched.

But it was too late. Liam's weapon had been activated and there was no stopping it. Emma was actually just about to explain that Liam's plan hadn't, in fact worked and she was really here to save her husband; not watch him die. Sadly, thats how it looked like this was going to end.

Killian stood right in front of the bullet, too weak to move or save himself. There was only enough blood left in him to think of how much he loved his wife and his soon to be child, and how much he would miss being beside them on earth.

Inch by inch the thing that would end the Pirate's life came closer. And he had given up.

However, Emma on the other hand had not given up. She brought her hands up to her chest and forced them out towards the incoming bullet. Flashes of white light stormed out of her fingertips, charging at her target.

The magic collided with the bullet, causing it to change directions. Instead of heading towards Killian Jones, it buried itself into Liam Jones' chest.

He screams out in pain and falls to the floor. Desperately, he glances tearfully up to Emma, who now stood beside her husband.

"I-I thought I made y-y-you see and feel those t-things!" He grunts and crashes further to the ground.

"You did. But I don't need your feelings for Killian, I have perfectly fine ones for him myself." Emma smiles to Liam then to Killian, "I love him. And he loves me."

"He killed my father! He deserves..." Liam lays down painfully on the floor of the Diner, his eyes glued to the ceiling. "Death..." And his eyes shut. Emma gasps and covers her mouth.

However, unlike most people when they die, Liam starts to disappear into thin air. His body circles up into dust, leaving the earth forever.

"Is he?" Emma asks Killian, who is still standing there in pain and loosing precious blood.

"Aye. He is gone." He lets out a small cry of pain, but its enough to show Emma what he is feeling.

"Oh Killian!" She grips his arm as he falls to his knees, she bends down also.

"I'm fine love." He grimaces.

"No, no your not. Let me fix that." Emma waves her hand over his wound and the bullet that once was stuck inside his shoulder disappears. Colour begins to reappear in his face as blood replenishes itself inside of him.

Forcefully but passionately, Killian presses his lips against his wife's. They kiss until neither of them can hold their breath for any longer. Heaving and out of breath, they stare deeply into each others eyes.

"Please never leave me again, Killian. I wouldn't have been able to survive without you." Emma pleads, never once breaking eye contact.

"I won't. I love you, Emma."

"And I love you."

They both smile at one another until something breaks their gaze. Emma's face drops as she grabs her stomach. A wide pool of what looked like water surrounds them.

"Killian." Emma urges, "The baby, its coming."
