Chapter 4 - Patrick

He just stopped smiling, and stared at me, shocked.- What did you just called me... ? - He asked approaching me.I couldn't answered him. I was panicking, and my face was getting soaked. My mind was not even there. Stone's arms covered me and I started sobbing into his chest, without even thinking. - Cass? What's the matter?- Say something, Cassie!- Cass...? - asked Milkshake - ... your name is... Cassie? - he said, getting closer to me, still shocked - Cassie... Miller ? It was him. The boy that I have not seem since I was 10 years old. My childhood friend.- What's happening? Do you two know each other ? -Asked Mike, also confused.- Y... Ye... Yes - He said, right before Stone took a step back and Patrick took his place and hugged me. I was shocked and I was still crying. How could that be happening? Where have he been in all this years? And why now? There were too many questions for me to answer. And in that moment my head was going to explode.When he stopped hugging me, he looked into my eyes and said:- I found you... - He was holding back the tiers, I could tell.- You... But why? - I asked, still shocked.- Hmm... I don't want to ruin the moment but... What the fuck is going on? - Asked Stone.We both looked at Eddie, Jeff, Stone, Mike and Dave."How are we going to explain all of this?" - We both thought to ourselves.And so it began: me and Patrick started explaining everything to them trough the afternoon.- ... but then my father got a promotion at work and my family and I had to move to Seattle, and leave that old neighborhood behind. I didn't say anything to you Cassie, because I knew that you were going to cry and beg me not to go because I was your only friend, but I had to go. So I wrote a letter and gave it to your dad, saying what was going to happen, and why did I disappeared.- You did what?... - I said, getting pissed of. - My father never gave me any lettes...- Yes, I thought that too, so when I was about... Hmm... 14? Yeah, that must be it, when I was about 14 I tried to call to your house, but no one answered. I tried to steal my mother's car to go find you... But that only got me detention. I wanted to see you so bad... I still do... - He stopped and looked at me - Than I tried to talk to my mother about you and your family, but she was always making up with excuses like "Just leave it!", "I don't know!", "I don't WANNA know!"... I missed you so bad... - He stopped again - A few years went by, and I got my divers licence. My mother and my dad said that because I was getting such good grades, and I was 1 year further, I could spend a few months driving to nowhere... That was what I promised you that we were going to do... But you weren't there... So I decided that I was going to find you. - He said, stopping again - But first I was going to get a drink. I went to this really weird bar the other night, and Jeff and Mike were there. Of course I knew who they were, but I was a bit drunk, so I get close to them and asked "Are you two from Pearl Jam?". They started laughing, and they said "Yeah, you know your band? That's awesome! Not much people do! Wanna go to a rehearsal tomorrow?". I was so shocked, and I really wanted to go, but my intentions were to find you... But I said yes, and I promised myself that I was going to start the search tomorrow... But... That was not necessary, because when I got here... This happened... - he finished.Non of us moved. We were all shocked. Stone was the only one that said something:- Oh my God...- You guys are childhood friends? - asked Eddie - That's nuts...- We swear that we didn't knew... - said Jeff pointing to Mike.- Oh my God... - said Stone again - That's such a movie...- Is this some kind of joke? - said Dave trying to keep a serious face. - I can't believe it...- It's not - I said - It's all true, as crazy as it seems like, it's true.- Jesus, Cass - said Dave with a grin - You're a box full of surprises aren't you?And like that, our afternoon with Patrick began. They started by playing some songs that they had previously made up, just to get on the spirit, but than Mike and Eddie decided to start playing something new that they have been working on recently. It's so weird how everything looks so much more simple and easy when they are rehearsing...- Hey, guys - said Stone - Let's try a new song!- What new song? We haven't got any, just this one - said Mike still pkaying.- I know - said Stone - Let's make one!- What? Like that? I mean... I don't know.. - said Jeff.- Came on, let's try it..- But we need lyrics.. I don't feel completely inspired today - Said Eddie, looking to the floor.- Ok, so this is what we are going to do - said Stone, looking at them - Tomorrow let's do another rehearsal, and until then you Eddie, please try to write something you like, and tomorrow we can maybe do the rhythm, what do you guys think? - He asked.- It's fine with me - said Dave, smiling.- Yeah, that's cool - said Jeff, smiling too.- Guys, I don't know if I will write something or not... It really depends on my mood - said Eddie, looking at them.- Oh, that's ok, tomorrow we will all see it, and make some changes - said Stone, smiling too.- Ok, fine then - said Eddie.Dave and Patrick finished their beer, and asked:- So, tell me Eddie, Cass and Stone, how did you guys meet ?Oh God... I still remember it perfectly... I was going to speak, but Stone, who really likes to talk interrupted me and started speaking:- Me and Eddie were going to a small NIRVANA gig, some months ago, and we were at the door to the bar where they were going to play, and we saw her sitting with her back against the wall. I looked at Eddie like "damn she's hot", and he walk towards her. I think that she only saw our shoes, because the first thing that she ever said to us was "if the two of you are here to rape me, you better forget that" - everyone laughed, even me, and Stone continued - But then she looked up, and saw Eddie, so the second thing that she ever told us was "shit" - everyone laughed again - and Eddie said "Fine then", and started to walk way with a smile on his face. I was like "what the fuck dude?! She was really hot! "Fine then?" Noooo!", and he just turned to me and said : "3...2...1...", and on that exact moment I heard she saying "Hey, I'm Cassie".- What? Are you serious? - said Dave laughing - How did you know that she was going speak?!Eddie laughed:- It was luck - he smiled - And would looked like a fool if she didn't have talked - he laughed.- That's nuts! - said Patrick.- Ok, so then we turned around and Eddie said "I'm Eddie, this is Stone. What are you doing here?", and she said something like "What do you think I'm going at sited near the bar door were NIRVANA are going to play?", so I said "Good point". Then we entered the bar, and spent the whole time with her. When it was over, I said "Hey, wanna go get some drinks?", and she was like "Only if you pay" - we all started to laugh again.- Jesus Cass! - said Jeff.- You haven't changed a thing - said Patrick, grabbing another beer and smiling at me.- So then, we went to "Tod's" and we got out of there really drunk, like seriously, I haven't been that drunk in a long time - said Stone, laughing.- Yeah, you started screaming "MY COCK RULES THE WORLD!" -said Eddie, dying of laughter and moving his hands as Stone did that night.- Shut up! - said Stone, but he was so busy laughing, that he could barely speak.- So, what happened next? - said Mike.- So next thing I know, Stone is hitting on Cass, and I'm spanking my head against a wall... - Said Eddie. Oh God, it was it, we were laughing to much to continue telling the story - Let's just say that it was amazing that we have found Cassie - he smiled, winking at me. I don't know why, but it felt really good hearing that.After all of us finished our beers, Mike said:- Ok, guys I have to get going, see'ya tomorrow? - Yeah, sure! Here by five? - said Eddie.- Yeah, cool!- Patrick? - I asked.- Yeah, Cass?- Were are you staying? - I asked.- Shit. I haven't thought about that... Well, I have my car and all that. - he said, looking at the ceiling.- You can sleep at my place, in my brothers room, he said that he was going to spend the week at some chick's house, so - I said.- Really? But.. you know, it's your brother's room and shit... - he said lookimg uncomfortable. - Are you kidding? When he saws you, he is going to flip! - I said - It's ok, really - I smiled.- Ok, then - he smiled - Thanks, Cass.I gave him the key, and told Stone to drive Patrick to my house, because Eddie asked me to stay. Finally.After saying goodbye to the guys, me and Eddie went back to his room, and sited in the mattress again.- Now I have to make those lyrics... - he said, touching my hair - ... How the hell am I going to make some lyrics out of nowhere?- It's a thought job, but someone was to do it - I said, joking around. - Very funny, Cassandra - he said, smiling.- Please, don't call me that - I said.- Why? It's your name, isn't it? - he smiled again.- Yes, Edward, it is in deed! - I said, turning to him trying by best to impersonate a british accent.- Ok, ok, I apologize! - He said, turning to me - I'm still thinking about those lyrics...- Write about something really obvious, something that you feel confortable singing about, I don't know...- Yeah, like what? - He said, looking into my eyes - "The sky is blue, the grass is green, I adore you, Cassandra my beauty queeeeeeeeeen!" We both laugh more then we should. I really liked being with him and he made me always feel at home. Out of nowhere, Eddie placed his hand on my face, and said:- You are so special...I was going to say something, but he kissed me, his soft lips against mine. I felt the same way as I felt when we make out in the party.- I locked the door, you know? - he pulled away, smiling.- Oh, really? - I asked - But you still have windows, Stone can appear at any time...- Well, in that case, I think that he just going to have to watch it...

I think that we feel asleep really late, so when I woke up at 4 p.m. I wasn't surprised. I looked to the other side of the mattress, where he was supposed to be, but he just entered the room, at that exact second.- Hey - he said, as he went to give me a kiss.- Hey - I smiled.- Are you ok? - he asked.- Yeah, now I'm better - I said, right before I kissed him back. I didn't want to leave but Patrick was alone at my place and that made me worry about him. Last night we just kissed and had your making out session, nothing more. He still haven't trying anything on me, which was nice and I appreciated, it was going to happen when it was going to happen, no worries.Eddie took me back to my place, and when I got there I went looking for Patrick.I got up the stairs and entered my room: Patrick. I guessed he feel asleep on the wrong room, but I couldn't blame him, me and my brother's room were almost the same.I was very tiered, because I only have slept about 6 or 7 hours, so I wanted to get some more sleep. I went to my brother's room again, but when I tried to open the door: looked. "Great." Maybe that's why Patrick was sleeping in my room.I went back to my room again, and layed down next to Patrick. "I'm just going to rest my eyes, or maybe sleep for 2 or 3 hours..." - I thought to myself.I stated thing about random things like Eddie, Stone, my brother, the chick that my bother was banging, the party, my father, that awesome NIRVANA gig...When I was nearly half asleep I opened my eyes, and just looked to the ceiling for a bit, but next thing I know, Patrick's lips were on mine and I couldn't do anything to avoid it....
