Pull the Pin
01:06, 2 December 2024"Oh look who it is, the boy saviour!" Jinx yelled across the bridge towards her former childhood friend. She trembled, her small body shivering in the river's cold—large bags formed under her tired eyes. Jinx had been up for days, hellbent on finding Minx.
Their time apart was excruciating for Jinx. She had no one to distract her or block out their voices. Whenever Minx was there, it was finally quiet, but without her, all the demons she had shooed away came back full force.
Jinx expected to find Minx with Ekko and Vi, so rage infiltrated her when she realized Minx was nowhere to be found.
"Where is she, Ekko, where the fuck is she?" Jinx screeched pulling her handgun out of her holster and aiming it directly in between Ekko's eyes.
Ekko didn't flinch he simply shook his head, indicating the fact that he didn't know.
Jinx's eyebrows shot down to her eyes and her mouth twisted into a knot. She pulled the trigger.
The white-haired boy dodged, making a flip in the air, his dreads swaying. Racing towards Jinx he pulled his clockhand out of its holster on his back.
Jinx shot and he lifted his body out of the air again successfully dodging her copper bullets. She sneered. Squinting her eyes Jinx reloded her handgun right as Ekko reached her.
Smacking his clockhand across her face Jinx's nose exploded with red. Blood dripped down her fearful face.
Ekko pushed his childhood best friend to the floor of the bridge his clockhand pinning her neck. Jinx's hand fumbled around Ekko's chest trying desperately to push him off her.
He raised his left fist right as Powder's helpless eyes met his. Ekko hesitated and watched as her fearful face morphed into one of acceptance.
She was okay with leaving because of him, part of her liked the idea of being freed from this lonely dirty world by someone like him. Someone so good.
Jinx pulled the pin.

Minx's footsteps pounded across the bridge between cities. Bodies littered the floor drenching it in thin maroon liquid coating her black boots a dull red.
She ran as soon as she saw the pink explosion from across the river. Something deep inside her knew, knew it was her. Her hands were trembling at her sides as she coughed through the ash.
Stepping forward she heard a crunch below her boot. A gold-pleated fake firelight sparked under her foot. Her eyes widened in realization and she forced her feet to move faster along the wooden bridge.
"Whatcha working on, toots?" Jinx asked slinging an arm around her counterpart's shoulder. Minx turned towards her painting a green and purple firelight made out of gold metal.
"Exploding paint." Minx smiled up at the girl beside her. "So what happens is when the paint detects a change in the air toxicity, like going from Zaun to Topside, it'll trigger an explosion."
Jinx's eyes gleamed in mischief, "That's pretty impressive, hot stuff."
Fear sparked in Minx's chest as she moved further along the bridge, a lone figure distorted in the smoke ahead of her.
Jinx's body lay on the dirty ground covered in soot. Her limbs were shriveled and disheveled.
A cry rang out of Minx's throat as she fell to her knees beside her lover's body. Gently she tugged Jinx's lifeless body across her body and wrapped her arms around her face cradling it to her chest.
She was breathing, just slightly, but still breathing, she realized. Pulling herself to her feet she struggled to get her arms under Jinx's. Pulling her body slowly along the bridge, she tried desperately to make it to her lab.
A figure approached her quickly out of the smoke right as she lost her grip on Jinx, causing them both to tumble to the ground.
Silco rushed forward, catching Jinx right as she fell.
Minx shakily stood back up dashing towards Silco and wrapping her arms around his torso.
She was hysterical, blobs of tears rushing down her face causing streaks in the dirt that clung to her face, "Dad- she- she's hardly breathing."
Silco's eyes darted towards her shaking figure before taking Jinx's body, picking it up, and holding her to his chest. He didn't dare correct her.
-
They made it to the bottom of Zaun running inside Singed's lab. Minx had begged him to take Jinx to her lab, telling him she had a medicinal version of shimmer that could cure her without pain but Silco didn't listen dismissing her with a shake of his head.
Minx watched helplessly as Singed strapped her lover to a table falling to her knee's in shaky sobs.
"Sometimes death is a mercy." He said, two syringes full of mysterious green liquid in his hands.
Minx tensed a choking sound coming out of her throat when Singed came up behind her and dug the large needle into her neck.
