34 . Weakness for One, a Trump Card for Another

I was laying on my bed, trying my best to ignore the constantly vibrating stupid phone which was too far away from me. I didn't feel like moving an inch so I closed my eyes shut, waiting for the cursed vibration sounds to stop.

I sighed in relief but immediately felt much more irritated at the message notification sound that came right after.

[sfx : notification sound].

My eye twitched at the second notification.

"OK, WHO THE FUCK-"

I jumped off the bed and grabbed my phone, ready to give whoever the fuck it was a peice of my mind but paused after seeing the caller ID.

"Eugene? What's his deal?!"

I clicked on the massages.

Time seemed to momentarily freeze around me as I read the final message.

I read it again just to make sure, while my heart beat increased with the rising anxiety.

I sat on the edge of my bed and dropped the phone on to the mattress. My hand messing up my hair as I burried my face in them.

I found out that Charles Choi didn't die when he sent his men to end me, but it didn't bother me that much.

It didn't matter if he was alive, his life was ruined anyways. The government froze all his assets and he has already lost his influence, together with the people who followed him. He didn't have anyone to back him up and no way of regaining his wealth, so he was as good as dead.

But now?!

I don't know the details but when I swore an alliance with Eugene the actual reward I asked for was information.

It was the main reason why a man at the rock bottom could rise to the top of the nation in the matter of a few months . It is the only way of bringing the workers, who currently stand at the top, down to scrap level in a single day. And it was also a trump card, if played right by the ones who signed it.

That's becuase it's an oath of favour.

I don't know which one of them is ruled by The Shadow Syndicate, or how Charles Choi managed to sign a pact with their leader.

But I do know about the pact.

According to Eugene, the pact was a reward for a great favor.

It was a promise to grant the person or the organisation, exactly 3 favours, only under 2 conditions......

1 : The favour asked should not pose any harm to the lives of the supreme members of 《 The Golden Circle 》.

2 : The favour asked should not give rise to any forms of intercontinental war.

The golden circle was apparently referring to their top few members.

And If those 2 conditions were to be broken , then the pact was to be dissolved from that very moment onwards.

This pact was used exactly once, when Charles Choi used the money, influence, and information provided by The Shadow Syndicate to become the richest man in Korea, and to bring his company to the top.

I mean c'mon! some minors running around stealing money isn't gonna bring a company that high in Korea.

Ofcourse it helped a lot but that was it.

Charles Choi did use The Yamazaki influence earlier as well but that was mainly to get rid of the threats posed to him in the Underworld.

And when compared with The Shadow Syndicate, the Yamazakis are just a bunch of kids playing house anyways.

That's why the pact was so powerful. And right now, this pact had exactly 2 more favours left.

Back then, together with Charles, Eugene also signed the pact. The Workers were going to be the main underground business of HNH so Eugene signed as a witness from Charles's side. And that signature alone is a deadly weakness.

And with 'Charles Choi' dying, and him getting another identity, the only one who is going to take the fall if the pact was revealed is Eugene.

And that's gonna be a huge fall since right now, The Workers stand where the HNH company once stood.

And Charles Choi can use another one of the favours to either get all his frozen assets back, together with Eugene's assets, or just simply start over.

This must be his plan.

And that's why he needs to be stopped.

After all that he did to everyone, all the lives that he has ruined and trampled on, just for the sake of his own benefit, If he gets to bask in glory again, that won't be so fair now right?

If he gets to take back everything he once lost... then I don't think I'd ever be able to rest in peace.

I eyed the cursed wooden box given by an extremely suspicious man, which has been giving me anxiety with each passing second for the last few days.

I walked to the desk and opened the wooden box, the blue drug glistening under the dim light in the room.

I took the syringe and aimed the needle directly at my carotid artery.
