Chapter Eleven

Large time skip: Two months later...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been a long couple of months for Clyde. Ever since his visit to Craig's house, his friends thought that they had solved whatever problem was bothering him. But unfortunately, they were dead wrong. Clyde continued to corrupt his eating habits, making things worse by every passing day. He would eat less and less, avoiding food at any cost. Distancing himself from his friends, hiding out in the bathrooms during lunch, and fake-sleeping to get out of having to eat dinner.

At this point, he was barely eating a thing a day, even going some days without consuming a single piece of food. He would simply fill up on water throughout the day, and try to sleep and cry away all his pain.

And now, he was in his bathroom, checking his weight for the first time in a while. He had decided to weigh himself only once every few weeks, that way he could see more progress being done and not get discouraged.

"Hm," Clyde said as he stepped off the scale to see the number. "124." He smiled, but his joy left as suddenly as it had come. He stepped back and looked into the bathroom mirror. "That's around six pounds less than the last time I checked. 33 pounds overall. I really thought I'd be happier about this..." He let out a deep sigh. Although this was quite a lot, it still wasn't enough for him. Not enough for him to feel content with himself, that is.

He flicked the bathroom light off and left the room. He began to feel light-headed on his way down the stairs, causing him to sway a little bit and have to sit down on a step. He held his head in his hands and closed his eyes. "Ugh..." He groaned, quiet enough that his father couldn't hear from the kitchen. He took a breath and stood back up slowly, holding onto the stair's railing for better balance.

He made his way down the stairs and wandered into the kitchen where his dad was. His father gave him a quick glance, then turned back around to tend to whatever he was cooking for breakfast. "I can't keep giving you rides to school," He said out of the blue. "You're causing me to be late for work. You need to learn how to be responsible and wake up at a reasonable time so you don't miss the bus."

"Okay," Clyde said simply. "Actually, I don't need a ride today. I just need to borrow a belt?"

"A belt?" Mr. Donovan repeated. "You never wear belts."

"I-I know, but I just need one I think."

Mr. Donovan looked his son up and down. "Hm. Been working out or something?"

"Uh... yeah," Clyde hesitated.

"Second to highest shelf in my closet. There's a light brown one that should work."

Clyde nodded and turned to go back up the stairs. He went up slowly to hopefully avoid getting light-headed again. He went into his father's room and took the belt out of his closet. He slid it through the loopholes of his now baggy jeans and tightened it to fit him.

Clyde left the house and walked down to the bus stop. His stomach ached and he felt very tired, although he had slept well the night before. While walking, he felt like he was in a dream. A painful dream, but a dream nonetheless. It wasn't peaceful, it felt unreal. Like he was living out a foggy memory, and nothing around him was fully processed. He arrived at the bus stop still feeling dazed. "I'm so tir~ed..." He groaned.

"Dude, literally all you ever do is sleep," Craig said. "Whenever we wanna hang out, it's always 'I'm gonna take a nap' or 'I need to sleep first'. How are you still tired?"

"I dunno," Clyde answered monotonously as the bus pulled up. He sat in his normal seat in the back next to the window and waited for Token to sit next to him, as usual.

Token gave him his signature warm smile and sat down. "Morning, Clyde."

Clyde mumbled something in return and went back to staring out the window. He heard Token let out a sigh, but made the choice to simply ignore it. He was sure that Token could once again tell that something was wrong, which gave him more reason to ignore and attempt to avoid him.

The bus pulled up to the school and Clyde hurried off. Token watched him walk quickly into the building. He muttered some profanities under his breath as he sprung up from his seat to chase after Clyde. He caught up relatively quickly and tapped Clyde on the shoulder. Clyde felt the tap but paid no mind to it, he just kept walking quickly down the hall.

"Clyde," Token said. Clyde heard this and sped up his walking speed. "Clyde!" Token exclaimed now. He reached forwards and grabbed Clyde's shoulder, forcefully stopping him.

Clyde turned around quickly and glared at him. "Ow, that hurt! Goddamnit, what do you want?!"

Token scowled at his tone. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Nothing, what's wrong with you?!"

"You can't say nothing, you're ignoring me! Why?" Token practically shouted.

"I am not, what are you talking about?!"

"Really? You never talk to me or hang out with any of us anymore! You ditch lunch every single day and take the bus home to avoid walking with us. This has been going on for over a month now, you need to tell me what's going on!" Tweek and Craig walked up behind Token, Jimmy catching up to them quickly.

Clyde had a look of pure anger etched on his face. "Why should you care what's going on?! Nothing in my life is any of your business. Now get off your high horse and go to class." He swiftly turned on his heel and walked off, presumably to his next class.

Token watched him walk off, his face a look of anger and confusion. "The hell is that supposed to mean?!" He said, flustered. "'Get off your high horse'? I was trying to show him I care! I was trying to help him!"

Tweek put his hand on Token's shoulder. "Token, calm down."

"Ironic for you of all people to be saying that," Craig chuckled.

"Quite being an ignorant asshole, Craig!" Token said. He turned away from the group and walked away, going to class.

"Damn, wh-wh-who stuck a firecracker up h-his ass?" He heard Jimmy mutter as he walked away.

"God," Token muttered as he entered the classroom. He looked at the two seats side by side that he and Clyde used to always sit it until just recently. Clyde was sitting in the back of the classroom with no available seats next to him. Token went to his usual seat, the spot next to him empty. He decided to try not to think about Clyde for the rest of the class, and try talking to him again later on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Clyde stood from his seat as soon as he heard the bell ring. He swung the straps of his bag over his shoulders and left the classroom. As he walked down the hall, he noticed that Token was on his back again. He rolled his eyes and sped up his pace. The last thing he wanted to do was talk to someone, and he knew exactly what Token would try to talk about.

He heard the footsteps behind him speed up just as he did. He tried to walk faster, but lost his balance and stumbled, almost falling to the floor. He stood still for a moment, the light-headed feeling coming back. His vision began fading, everything around becoming blurry. He swayed in place and took a few steps to try and regain his balance, but ended up falling anyways. The last thing he remembered was his vision going dark as the feeling of unconsiousness consumed him.

"Clyde?!"

He heard a voice and groggily re-opened his eyes. "What the hell?" He muttered, struggling slightly to sit up. He blinked a few times and saw Token kneeling next to him.

"Oh, my God, Clyde!" Token exclaimed, wrapping him in a hug. "You scared me."

"What happened?" Clyde questioned. "How long have I been out for?"

"You, Well, you left class and... I don't really know what happened. You were walking down the hall and... you just kinda fell. You stopped in your tracks and blacked out I guess. You've only been out for a minute or so," Token explained. Before Clyde said anything else, Token grabbed hold of his arm and helped him stand up. He began leading him down the hall. "Come with me," He ordered as if Clyde had a choice.

Clyde didn't question it, just going with the flow. Token stopped in front of the men's restroom and opened the door. "Anyone in here?" He said loudly. When no one responded he shut the main door behind them and locked it. He turned to Clyde and looked into his eyes with dead seriousness. "Clyde. What is going on."

Clyde sighed. "Dude, I'm literally fine, I swear."

"You just passed out!"

"Yeah, I think I'm just tired or something. Despite what Craig said, I really haven't been getting that much sleep."

"No, Clyde, I'm serious. Tell me what's going on."

Clyde rolled his eyes. "It's nothing. I promise."

"Clyde, I refuse to play this game with you any longer. You just fucking fainted in the hallway and expect me to brush it off as if it wasn't a big deal! Come on, I know very well something's wrong. Lately, you've been acting so much differently. You've been so distant, and at the risk of sounding insensitive, I've noticed you've lost a lot of weight recently too. To be honest, I'm really worried about you, Clyde. Like, really worried," Token paused, his voice breaking as he had begun tearing up. "Please, please, I am begging you, please tell me what's wrong."

Clyde stared at him. He really did not want to say anything, as could be predicted, but he didn't exactly have much of a choice. He opened his mouth to speak, but started to cry instead. Token gave him an honest look of sympathy and hugged him again gently. They stayed in this position for at least six minutes or so before Clyde was able to pull hiself together.

Clyde pulled away from the hug and sighed. He looked down at his feet, rather than into Token's eyes. He took a deep breath, "I... This started about two and a half months ago," He began. Token nodded slowly, signaling him to continue. "Well, actually, it started over a year ago. But it only got kinda serious two and a half months ago. I'm gonna start from the beginning. See, there was this... person that I liked, and I still do, a lot. But I knew that I could never have a shot with them; they would never lower their standards enough to get to my level, which naturally upset me. And then shortly after I realized I loved someone I could never have a chance with, ninth grade started. Things just kinda went downhill from there." He paused.

"What do you mean?" Token asked sofly.

"I started the year off not doing very well already, and then people like Connor started giving me a hard time. But I didn't want you guys to think I was a weak little crybaby, -well, I'm sure you already do- so I put on an act. I acted like everything was fine. I acted like I was my normal, happy, bubbly, outgoing self. It was all faked. And in addition to everything else happening, I started really, really hating myself. Specifically my appearance. And I knew that this person I had a crush on preffered smaller guys, and people wouldn't pick on me as much if I was skinnier, so I decided to finally do something about it..." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I decided I would just... y' know, just stop eating altogether. And it's working, I mean, I've lost like, thirty pounds by now."

"Clyde!" Token exclaimed. "Thirty pounds? Really? You've got to stop doing this. It's unhealthy and unsafe, you're slowly but most certainly killing yourself. And if y- wait, you have a crush?"

"...Yeah?"

"Wait, oh my God, who?"

Clyde could feel himself blushing. "Um... isn't that irrelevant?"

"I mean, kind of. But imagine how great it'd be if you asked them out and they said yes!"

Clyde scoffed. "They would never."

"I'm sure they would, you're a great person."

"Wait, really? But I don't even think they like guys."

"Wait a second... Clyde, do you have a crush on a guy?"

"...Yes."

"Are you close with him?"

"Very."

Token took a breath. He could feel his face heating up. "Clyde... is it me?"

Clyde bit his lip and looked away. "...Yes."

Token cupped his hand under Clyde's chin and turned his head. "Clyde. Look at me." Clyde looked into his eyes. "You are a dumb fuck, and I find it disgusting and sick that you like me. Please, let us never speak again."

Author's Note:

Jk jk, that last part did not happen

Token cupped his hand under Clyde's chin and turned his head. "Clyde. Look at me." Clyde looked into his eyes. Token leaned forwards slowly and closed his eyes as he pressed his lips against Clyde's. Clyde's eyes remained wide open for the remainder of the kiss, as he was quite shocked. Token smiled at Clyde's expression.

"Wh... huh?" Clyde breathed.

Token chuckled lightly. "Clyde, I like you too. A lot."

"Wait... Are we like, boyfriends now?"

Token laughed. "I mean, if you want."

Clyde grinned and gave Token a big hug. "Of course I want!"

Token's smiled faded a bit. He picked his bag up from the floor and placed it on the counter and took out his lunch, then handed it to Clyde. "Eat," He ordered sternly.

"Token... I-"

"Did I stutter?"

Clyde stared at the food being held in front of him. It was naive to think that he could go back to normal in a matter of seconds. The food was right there, but something was still stopping him.

"Clyde. Eat."

Clyde looked up at Token, then back down at the food. For Token, He thought, and ate it.
