07:16, 12 May 2022Legolas panted as he shot one last orc in the face. The battle of Mordor was won. Everyone had happily rejoiced before the earth began to shake beneath their feet.
Heads turned towards the mountain as lava and rocks began to rapidly pour out from it. The volcano must have woken after Frodo threw in the ring was Legolas's thought.
Everyone had quickly left the battlefield and returned home.
Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, Boromir, Gandalf and Pippin had all returned to the palace later that evening. Gandalf quickly spilt off going to find where Frodo and Samwise had been taken.
Pippin as well ran off, most likely going to find Merry.
Aragorn and Gimli both walked off towards their own rooms to relax after such a tedious battle.
Boromir himself went to find his little brother.
Legolas the last to run off found himself walking quietly towards a room not of his own. Once again he couldn't place the overwhelming need to be by her side. Maeve. He had to see her.
He softly opened the door. Not a noise was made as Legolas walked up to Maeve's bedside. He gently sat next to her sleeping form and watched as she peacefully slept.
She shifted slightly towards his sitting self and he felt his face redden. Why was he staring at her while she's sleeping?! He looked away quickly and covered his hot face. Why was he reacting in such a way? Legolas can not even remember a time when he would blush.
Mumbling brought him back to the girl sleeping soundly in front of him. How can she rest so peacefully? No guard up, just sleeping as if she has no care in the world.
Legolas shook his head and smiled. He understood now that he simply could never make these feelings for Maeve disappear. Everything about her was right. Now he just had to figure out to make her his.
Instead of thinking on it then however Legolas felt his eyelids drop. The exhaustion from the multiple battles seemingly catching up to him.
He quickly found that his legs would do nothing to help him stand. His arms felt heavy from the amount of energy he's spent using them. From shooting his bow to swinging his sword through orcs bodies.
Legolas huffed quietly, seems he'll be staying here longer than he had planned.
Maeve clutched at the fabric tightly between her fist. She snuggled deeper into the warm surface and sighed comfortably. She hadn't slept this good in a while.
A slow and steady heartbeat that wasn't her own however caught her by surprise. She flattened her hand and pressed it against the beating sound. Definitely someone's chest. Her eyes flashed open and she rolled over on top of the person, bringing her fist in the air ready to strike.
"Maeve wait!" The familiar shout of Legolas had her fist lowering and she relaxed slightly. She placed her full weight on his waist and roughly grabbed his tunic in her hands, just barely pulling him up from the bed.
"What the hell are you doing sleeping in here dipshit?!" Maeve shouted at him. Why in the hell did she wake up cuddled to his chest?! Why was he in there in the first place?! It was her room!
Legolas's eyes went wide as he looked around the room. Oh no. He gave Maeve a sheepish smile and scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"I uh.. I had meant to go back to my own room last night. I must have accidentally fallen asleep due to exhaustion. I'm terribly sorry Mae." He apologetically glanced up at her and she sighed. He had unknowingly given her puppy dog eyes and she really couldn't handle it.
"Damnit I can't stay mad after that." Maeve grabbed the sides of his head and looked him in the eyes.
Legolas sat there frozen as Maeve seemed to gravitate closer to him. He didn't dare breathe as she gently placed her lips upon his own. Legolas simply stared wide eyed as Maeve gently detached their lips only after what seemed to be a second.
Maeve giggles slightly as she watched Legolas's face turn red. His eyes were still wide but now his hand gently traced his lips. As if he had not actually experienced what had just happened.
"You kissed me." Came his whispered reply after a few minutes. Legolas could not seem to wrap his head around the fact that Maeve had actually kissed him. Him! She kissed him! Does that mean she feels the same as him?
"Yes I kissed Legolas. Is that alright?" Her face suddenly got slightly worried as he sat there silently.
"Yes... yes! That's perfectly ok!" He sits up straight and grabs both of Maeve's hands in his own. "What.. why?"
Maeve give him a 'seriously' look and shakes her head.
"You're oblivious Legolas. I've liked you for a while now silly." Maeve wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her forehead on his. His breathing was erratic and she could see his confusion. "Don't overthink it Legolas. I like you ok?"
Legolas could only nod his head. The fog from just waking up was starting to clear and he could somewhat grasp what was going on. First off, he was definitely an idiot. How could he not have noticed such a thing?! To be honest there really was only one point but still, it was an important one.
Legolas prided himself on being very observant, but the minute an elleth takes an interest in him he's clueless.
Maeve sighs as she watched Legolas sift through his thoughts. She didn't think he would be so torn up about it.
She gently took his face in her hands once more. He snaps out of his thoughts to quietly watch her. Maeve rubs her thumbs against his cheeks softly, looking him in the eyes.
Legolas gasps as she once again kissed him. This time however he doesn't allow himself to think. Instead he simply does what feels right. He's leans into her more and pushes his own lips to hers. Making the kiss a tad bit more rough.
He wanted to feel every inch of her lips on his own. Everything about the moment felt right to him. And this time he was sure Maeve felt the same way.
They kissed for a minute longer, parting to catch their breath. They offered each other sweet smiles. Simply enjoying their time alone in the warm sun coming through the window.
"Come home with me Mae." Legolas looked into Maeve's eyes as he proposed the idea. He wasn't so sure how she would take it, but one he knew for sure was that she was the one he would bring home to his Ada. Legolas no longer cared much for his Ada's opinion on who it was he should marry.
The only thing that mattered now was Maeve and her happiness. Simply because if she was happy there was no doubt in his mind that he would be as well.
