Rivendell
07:11, 12 May 2022Maeve groans softly as her vision continues to fade in and out.
"You mustn't go into the light Maeve." A strange voice calls out to her. It's strangely familiar. She groans again and her whole body shudders in pain. The pain does not go away causing Maeve to go unconscious.
Who knows how long later Maeve feels something pulling at her consciousness. Suddenly a face comes into her sight. A beautiful woman stands over her and speaks soft words to her. Words she found she could not understand.
Maeve finds herself falling into a comfortable sleep. Not feeling quite as drained as before. She just hopes whoever was helping her was quick about it.
Aragorn watched as Arwen rode off with Maeve unconscious in front of her. He sighed in concern and glanced at the Hobbits in front of him.
"Hurry we must reach Rivendell as fast as possible. The Nazgûl may still be on our trail." The group of now five took off quickly towards the elven city. However the Nazgûl were tricked somehow and did not follow their trail.
Arwen urged Asfaloth faster. The black riders were gaining on her. The elleth in front of her groaned in pain at the rough ride. They were dodging through trees trying not to be caught be the Nazgûl.
Arwen and Asfaloth quickly made it across the river. Safely watching as the Nazgûl were wary of the waters.
"Give us the ring." The Nazgûl spoke in a tongue the elleth would understand. Arwen drew her sword.
"Come and get it if you want it." Then she started a chant. Speaking so softly the Nazgûl were unaware of the treacheries headed their way. As the black riders made it halfway the river started rise.
Quickly the water rose above their heads and ran them down in the shape of horses. As Arwen sighed in relief she felt the elleth fading. She looks down and shakes the girls shoulders.
"No! No Maeve do not go into the light!"
The last thing Maeve saw was the concerned face of the brunette elleth.
Maeve woke up to the feeling of soft sheets and clean clothes. As her awareness started to come back to her, Maeve's eyes popped open and she sat up quickly. She looked around frantically and realized finally were she was at.
For a moment she had thought that everything was just a dream that she was waking up from. The bed made her feel like she was at home in her own. But instead she woke up on the inside of a room no doubt in the house of Elrond.
Maeve easily remembers the architecture of Rivendell and recognizes the room. The door clicks open and she looks it's way. An ellon dressed in fine silk robes and a head crown walks into her room. She immediately knows that this is Lord Elrond and bows her head down slightly.
"Lord Elrond, it's a pleasure to be in your kingdom." Her voice was softer than usual, most likely from the lack of hydration.
"It's a pleasure to have you here Maeve." He walks slowly forwards and pours her a cup of water. Gently handing it over for her to drink.
"Thank you Lord Elrond." She grasps the cup and takes a few quick sips, her throat feeling immensely better.
"What brings you to Rivendell lady Maeve?"
"I stumbled upon the Hobbits when they were being hunted by the Nazgûl. I felt it improper to not help them. I'm somewhat of a Ranger."
Lord Elrond tilts his head in confusion. This girl randomly showed up one day in one of his visions. Just out of nowhere, he's never heard or seen anything of her before. Now she's just popped up out of nowhere to help? It doesn't make sense.
"And what exactly does somewhat imply?" Maeve chuckles and scratches the back of her head. That's when she realizes that the changed clothes was very real as well. She looks down, completely forgetting her previous conversation and looks at what she's wearing.
White tights and a tanish tunic are what cover her. She cringed and looks up finally remembering she wasn't alone.
"Ah... what was the question again? And where are my clothes I came in?"
Elrond huffs at the elleths weird behavior and asks again.
"What does somewhat imply in your talking of being a Ranger? As for your clothes they are being washed, they will be returned to you before long."
Maeve nods and goes to answer his question.
"Well I..." The sound of the door clicking open and hitting the wall cuts Maeve off.
"Maeve you're ok!"
"Maeve!"
Shouts from the Hobbits came before the impact of two on the bed. Merry and Pippin gleefully explained to Maeve what all had happened in her time unconscious. Frodo and Sam watched from the side of the bed smiling every so often.
Lord Elrond watched from the door as the Hobbits spoke excitedly to the elleth. He felt a presence to his left and turned. Watching as Mithrandir walks up to him.
"Who is this elleth Mithrandir?" He questioned softly.
Gandalf shakes his head and stops beside him. He looks into the room and sees what Elrond was as well. He was not aware of the girl until they had arrived. For he had not sent for this strange elven Ranger.
"I myself am not aware, mellon nin."
They both watched as the elleth enthusiastically listened to what Pippin had to say. There was something warm about the young girl. She seemed to just be able to capture everyone's attention. She radiated beauty and confidence.
Later on in the day Maeve was left alone to rest. Merry and Pippin spoke of staying but the Lord Elrond said she needed to rest alone. Which by all rights she is ok with. It's been awhile since she had gotten to be alone.
However that alone time did not last long. A soft knock on her door alerted her to a presence outside the door. From the forest and dirt scent she could tell it was Aragorn.
"Come in."
Aragorn heard her soft reply to his knock and gently opened the door. Turning he softly closed it and approached her bedside. Sitting in the chair next to Maeve's bed Aragorn lifted his hand and brushed back her hair.
"How are you feeling?"
"Much better, thank you." He smiled softly at her and stood up.
"I'm glad you are doing better Maeve." Maeve smiled and waved to him as he left the room. It's a good thing he hadn't stayed long because Maeve found herself drifting off to sleep rather quickly. Nothing but sleep on her mind.
