Saving Friendships

The heart rate monitor sounds again. I smell the sterile hospital. I hear faint raindrops of the window. People walking in the hallway. I don't want to wake up. Stay asleep Miranda. Don't wake up. Please don't wake up.... I hear the door slide open and someone humming walks in.

"Hello Ms. Miranda. Nice to see you this morning." A woman is talking to me. "I'm just checking your vitals nothing much. Remember that date I went on yesterday. The guy wouldn't stop talking about himself. Totally horrible date. Blocked his number too." Wow. I am a therapist in both worlds.

"Amy can you check bed 17 again before you leave?" A man asked out of no where

"Sure. I'll be done with patient in a little." Foot steps walk out. "Well. It was nice talking to you Miranda. Maybe next time I'll come with better news." She walk out.

Now it's just quiet other then the rain and chattering. I need to go back to sleep. Sleep. Please........———

"Who's putting coffee grounds in the disposal? Am I running a bed and breakfast for a biker gang?"

"No. Just a bunch of vigilantes." I walk into the room. They all stand up and I smile. "Wow. Miss me or something?"

"Hey kid." I nod at Tony. "You have anything to say on this matter? Since you know. You're from the future and all?"

"Yes. Some of you will sign and the ones who don't will wither be under campus arrest or go into hiding. This will break the Avengers as they are now."

"Tony. We can't sign this." Cap said.

"We need this so we don't keep causing such destruction."

"You will always cause destruction. Just with these you have no free say. In the future something happens and they send you after the Avengers that went into hiding. You guys have a civil war. The accords people win and the others are thrown in a jail in the middle of the ocean."

"If everyone signs that won't happen." Tony argues

"If everyone signs then I will be on my own, IF I am still here to stop a much bigger threat. Tony you need to realize this won't end well and I need you all together when that threat comes. Because they bring an army 10 times bigger then the New York and they will end up on our front lawn." I point outside. They are all silent now.

"We will be criminals if we don't sign. This is the United Nations we are talking about. It's not World Security Council. It's not SHIELD. It's not HYDRA."

"But it's run by people with agendas, and agendas change." Steve argues with Rhodes

"That's good. That's why I'm here. When I realized what my weapons were capable of in the wrong hands... I shut it down and stopped manufacturing."

"Tony you chose that. If we sign we surrender our right to choose.... Like Miranda said. They will send us against each other and you can't say no."

"Not if we all sign." Caps phone buzzes. Shit

"I have to go." Cap gets up and leaves.

"Shit." They all look at me. "Peggy just died.... Sam go to Steve. He needs a friend. Tony. I need to talk to you. In private."

"Sure. Think about this guy." Tony points to the group then walks away with me. .....

"What do you need kid?" He sits at his side living room couch.

"Some information is about to come to light and I need to tell you." I pace the floor in front of him.

"Sure kid. Go ahead." I stop. I walk over and sit on his knees. "Woah. I'm not into you like that." I laugh

"This is to keep you restrained." I cover his mouth. "You will listen and not talk until I am finished. And you must listen." He nods

"Haummahand." I remove my hand. "Is it really this important." I nod and cover his mouth.

"Someone I know is going to get framed in bombing the Sokovia Accords signing. He was a puppet for HYDRA. They captured him and messed with his brain so much that a strand of specific words put him in a trance so they can control him. They also wiped all of his memories. Now. Last I saw him I brought back him memories and I told him to stay away from HYDRA and he is doing a real damn good job." I uncovered his mouth. "Tell me in a summary what I just said."

"Your friend was a mind controlled HYDRA worker who is going to be framed for a bombing." I covers his mouth back up.

"Good. Focus on that mind controlled brain part. The person who is framing him has one agenda. Since he is not strong enough he will make us kill each other. He has a secret about you and he is going to ping you and Cap against each other. Now. To the next part. Years ago this mind controlled friend of mine was made to kill someone that had the super serum in the trunk of there car..... the car belong to your parents." Tony pushed my hand away.

"What? So it wasn't an accident?" I covered his mouth again.

"He was mind controlled. And he hates what he has done because he remembers all of them. He remembers being made to kill. He remembers all of there faces and it eats him up..... Tony it wasn't personal. He was forced... do you understand?" Tony nods. "This is how the man who framed my friend will tear the Avengers apart. My friend. The mind controlled one... is James Buchanan Barns. Steve's long life friend Bucky. In your anger at Bucky for your parents death you and Steve fight and end in a forfeit. And you both split ways. He ends up getting the Avengers out of that jail I talked about and you never see them for years." I lift me hand.

"Does Steve know." I nod. Tony's lips scrunch in anger.

"You have to realize Bucky is like his brother and he was being controlled. He knows how much you miss your parents and he didn't want to hurt you because if he had to chose between a friend and a brother. Steve will chose his brother.... but he does love you. But right now it's Bucky against the world and Steve and him need each other."

"Get off me."

"Not until I know this knowledge won't cause you to get revenge and break the Avengers. The man who sent Loki here is coming and is bringing his army. I need to know the Avengers will be here for each other if I can't." He looks into my eyes.

"Fine. Just get off me." I got off him. "I hate how you can threaten me with your life. This is guilt tripping." I laugh

"Hey. You signed the accords already right?." He rolled his eyes.

"Yes." I nodded

"By the way where's Loki?"

"He went to get Hulk with Thor, Pietro and Widow." Oh god. ——————

"When stolen Wakandan vibrabium was used to make a terrible weapon... we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and woman killed in Nigeria were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative. Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace."

"Everybody get down!!" T'Challa run to his father.

The bomb goes off. Ringing in my ears but not from my mind connection but from the bomb. I gather myself together and limp to the Wakanda King.

"I'm going to heal him just stay out of my way." I put my hands on the King that is resting in T'Challa arms. I begin to heal him. The ringing in my ear dies down.

"Who are you?" T'Challa asks

"Hi. I am Miranda. Sort of an Avenger." He nods. "I am from another realm like Thor so I get my powers from there."

"Thank you." I nod and yawn. I removed my hands.

"God that was a lot of energy. He should be fine. Might be in a coma since I basically brought him off the brink of death." I lay down. "I have never used so much power like that before." I laugh. "Are you ok? I can heal you."

"No I am fine. You have used enough of your energy. I owe you a great debt Miranda."

"Oh good because I need to speak with your sister Shuri. I need some tech help.... save the world thing blah blah blah." I laugh. "Can I nap. Is that inappropriate in this situation?" He laughs.

"Go ahead. I'm sure the War Machine can take you back."

"Can you bring me to Wakanda. I need to speak to you before you go decide to get revenge for your father." I roll on my side.

"I will bring you to Wakanda." I hummed. "I'll wake you when we leave."

Good. Now I just have to make sure he knows it wasn't Bucky. Why am I so tired? Am I not supposed to use my powers on dying people?——————-

I woke up to a ringing noise, my phone.

"Miranda?" My eyes widen, Bucky.

"I know Bucky. It wasn't you." I hear him sigh

"What do I do?"

"Stay in hiding. I will come get you when it is safe." He needs to run from Steve.

"Alright. Is it ok if I go to the market?"

"Yes Bucky. Go get some plums."

"Wait how did you-." I hung up the phone.
