Chapter 41:
07:00, 8 January 2023"I'll start making things right again."
The blond's sentence was simple, yet the effect was instant. Sayuri felt all of her remaining energy to drain from her body. Her eyes rolled back up inside her head and she slumped back, unconscious.
"Yoooooooouuuuuu," The growl emerged from Sasuke's throat, guttural and hate-filled. "How did you return?" Naruto's mismatched eyes met Sasuke's own, a look of meaning in them. The passiveness on Naruto's face irritated Sasuke.
Without looking back, Naruto snapped his finger and Sayuri's unconscious form flashed away in a bright yellow. "Tch," Sasuke bit back. "You think you can save her? You can't save anybody!" He roared, chakra exploding from his body as the dirt and air rippled around him, creating a shockwave that blew Naruto's hair backward, but the blond didn't budge.
"I'm sorry." Naruto whispered as he unsheathed his sword. Sasuke didn't hear Naruto's words, nor did he see his enemy in front of him. Only red clouded his vision as his sword was instantly in his hand and his feet began rapidly hitting the ground.
Instinct let him know that he was upon his target. Raising his sword in the air, Sasuke brought down the blade with the all of the hatred in the world, hoping to end all of his problems with a single slice.
However his wants did not become reality as steel clashed against steel, sparks flying as Sasuke seemed to momentarily hover in the air. His eyes narrowed in a furious glare that screamed 'hatred', the force of his blow and it being blocked created a crater as Naruto's feet sunk into the earth, breaking it up as the two began sinking.
Sasuke hurled his body forward, using his momentum to try and bring his heel down upon Naruto's head, but was caught off guard as Naruto grabbed his foot and swung him into a bolder that was falling with them further into the earth.
Sasuke felt one of his ribs crack as he smacked into the rock, the taste of blood entering his mouth as he couldn't help but smile. "Amaterasu!" He shouted, coating the falling rocks and dirt with the black flames.
Naruto looked up and saw the impending doom the flames represented. Without even thinking he formed a Rasenshuriken in his palm and threw it straight up, a whirlwind of chakra incinerating the burning debris.
The momentary distraction was all Sasuke needed as he shot out a blade of lightning that hit Naruto in the shoulder, but he didn't even wince as his hand suddenly began to glow a golden yellow. He sliced through Sasuke's lightning and then used the same hand to grow larger, launching it towards Sasuke and latching onto the Uchiha.
"Idiot." Was all Naruto heard before the man in his grasp vanished in thin air, only to reappear above Naruto, having switched out with a piece of rock that was above him. To Sasuke's surprise, Naruto was prepared and had a third arm hidden behind his back holding a yellow Rasengan.
Naruto shoved the Rasengan forward and Sasuke grit his teeth in pain as it grinded into his chest before shooting him up and out of the massive hole they had created, blowing him in the air.
Sasuke summoned his Susanoo, the gigantic chakra avatar surrounding him, its large purple wings granting him the ability to fly as he hovered in the air. How? How could this happen?
He killed him! He had killed the impostor and sealed him within the Totsuka Blade! The fact that he was back was ridiculous, way past fate defining. So how?
The answer wouldn't come to him as two golden yellow claws shot out of the hole, grabbing at the ground surrounding the hole. He watched as Naruto pulled himself up, now encased in the large fox avatar of Kurama, now in his Sage of Six Paths form.
"Look around you Naruto," Sasuke called out, his Rinnegan and Sharingan eyes surveying the destruction. "Remember this used to be a civilization. A village that had people, innocents included." Sasuke's smirk turned sinister, an insane twist entering his eyes. "And remember that it was YOU who murdered them all!"
". . ." Naruto was quiet, silently gazing into the mad eyes of his former best friend. His brother.
Sasuke shook his head as if disappointed. "You can pretend to be whatever you want to be. A shinobi, a villager, a friend, or a comrade, but this," He gestured to the ground that had been turned to ash. "This is what you will truly remain. This is who you are! It doesn't matter how may speeches you may give or receive, in the end. . ."
"You will always be a monster."
Naruto wasn't fazed by the Uchiha's words, having heard it all before. Whether it be from others or himself, it didn't matter. Not at this point in time. "Did I really startle you so bad that you move from actions to words?" He was pleased to see Sasuke's smirk transform into a scowl.
"Bastard," He growled. "After I kill you, I'll personally visit the Leaf Village and end the lives of every person you ever cared for!" His Susanoo's arm raised in the air, the dark rain clouds spitting out lightning that hit the arm that acted as a lightning rod. Electricity bubbled around the purple armor that encased the Uchiha.
"You know I can't let that happen." Naruto called out, raising his both of his giant avatar arms, the golden chakra humming as he began gathering Sage chakra. The wind began gathering, whipping the ash and created a vortex around the Uzumaki as his eyes burned with determination, a ball of swirling chakra being created in each hand.
"As if you'll have a choice," He summoned his Susanoo's chakra bow and drew back an arrow that was encased with the black flames of Amaterasu and the lightning that he drew from the storm above. "You won't come back if I turn you to dust, will you?" His voice echoed above the whipping of the winds, piercing Naruto's ears.
The image of his mother appeared in his brain and a fond smile graced the blond's lips. "Come find out then," He replied mostly to himself, not expecting Sasuke to hear him from this distance.
Sasuke's eyes widened as he grinned, releasing his grip on the chakra arrow. Naruto returned by throwing the two massive Rasenshurikens that were infused with both Tailed Beast chakra and Sage chakra, glowing a dark purple with speckles of white flowing rapidly.
The two godly attacks collided, and all Naruto and Sasuke could see was the imploding white that flashed and flooded their vision. . .

"W-Where am I?"
The young Uchiha was confused. He sat up and emit a soft groan as his eyes adjusted to the sun that shined brightly down on him. Blinking a few times, he found himself among a tree line, surrounded by green grasses, bushes, and of course, trees. Ahead of him was an open field that had a small, pebbled path that led to a bridge that was held up by a few ropes and wooden stakes. The bridge hung highly above a raging river that was two hundred feet below.
"Naruto?!" The Uchiha called out, his voice holding more urgency and fear in them than before. "Sakura?! Where are you?"
Sasuke stood up and was faced with his first problem. He was about a foot shorter than what he used to be. He looked down and saw the same blue shirt and white shorts he wore when he was a Genin, and his arms and legs were the same size as they were back then too!
"What the fuck is going on?"
This. . . is a great place to end it. Guess what the next chapter or so are gonna be?
Sasuke's downfall! Yay!
This is me bringing life into the story again.
I'm sorry for not updating for six months. Aside from a lack of motivation, I've stumbled across some real life problems. In about three weeks, I'll be twenty one. Which doesn't sound like a long time, but keep in mind.
I've had Wattpad since I was fourteen. And I wrote my first book when I was fourteen. That's seven years. I'm not saying I'll be retiring or anything like that, but things may take longer to come out. I don't mean like six months longer, but as in two chapters or so a month.
I'll try and do more, but I'm unable to promise anything. This is a bigger heartfelt apology than when I updated Unshackled last week lol, but I think its because more people have DMed me asking for an update on this book specifically that I feel that I should genuinely apologize for my tardiness in delivering the ending of this book. There are still a few chapters left and I really don't wanna be that guy who doesn't finish his stuff when he's almost at the end.
However I also don't want to rush it and feel like I'm just squeezing out these last few chapters, otherwise they'll stink. And I mean stink. And when I mean stink I mean that I had written a 2,000 word fight scene between Naruto and Sasuke that was supposed to be this chapter, but it destroyed almost any and all development that the characters have gotten.
I haven't forgotten about Sayuri, Obito, Sai, etc. They still have use and their endings will be coming one way or another. So yeah. I love writing. And I love writing for you all because its just something that's fun and rewarding. But I digress.
Vote for me in 2024
Til next time my lil demons!
