Chapter 2: Changes

05:48, 27 June 2020

Naruto looked at Sayuri Uchiha with plate-sized eyes, unable to truly believe it. How? How the hell was Sasuke a fucking girl? A girl named Sayuri at that?! HOW?!

"Everything is crumbling around me, and if she's here, then," Naruto held his hand on his head, sweat forming all over his body as his throat clenched. "Then Sasuke really is. . ."

Sasuke's eyes widened as he suddenly hurled Naruto in front of him, his feet skidding in the dirt, his breathing ragged before a beam of light came out of the left side of his chest, destroying his heart.

"He really is dead. . ." Naruto whispered as his breathing became erratic, getting slightly concerned looks from Sakura and Sayuri. Naruto quickly placed his hand over his heart, clutching the orange fabric as he felt his heart beating out of his chest. "Sasuke really is gone forever. . ."

"What's wrong with you dobe?" Sayuri questioned, slightly weirded out by the supposed idiot's reaction to seeing her. Naruto met her coal colored eyes, his bright azure blue colored eyes holding so much intensity she immediately forgot how to breathe, the world around her became closing in on her.

"Where the hell is Sasuke, you fake?" He said, his nose twitching as he began losing his senses. Sayuri couldn't move, frozen as the dobe glared at her, fear slowly consuming her entire being as she couldn't help but draw a kunai in response, her hands shaking. "ANSWER ME!" He shouted, his chakra exploding as the chairs and desks began flying through the air as the atmosphere immediately changed.

"That's enough," A calm voice spoke as a gentle hand was suddenly placed on Naruto's shoulder. "You needn't take your anger out on your comrades." Naruto recognized that voice. That horrible voice. That horrid voice that haunted his dreams. . .

Looking up, Naruto saw the clear complexion of Obito Uchiha's face, a sad yet kind smile on his face, his black eyes staring deep into Naruto's soul. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" Naruto instinctively said as he threw the man's hand off of him.

"Taste despair!" Obito shouted as he stood upon the Ten-Tails head as a beam of red energy shot down, completely incinerating at least a hundred shinobi from the Allied Forces. Naruto's jaw clenched as he glared furiously at the man before him, the flames of Kurama's chakra surrounding him.

"I won't ever let you get away with that!" He shouted as a Rasenshuriken suddenly formed in his hand. "I won't let this world end!" Naruto screamed.

"This world will end!" Obito shouted in response.

"I, what the hell is happening to me?" Naruto said as a small chuckle escaped his mouth, unnerving everyone in the now destroyed room. "I'm completely fucked, aren't I?" Obito frowned.

"Nonsense, you are as perfect as you will yourself to be, and that goes for all of you. And hello, I'm Obito Uchiha, your new sensei. Meet me on the rooftop in five minutes so we can all learn about each other a bit more." He said cheerfully before vanishing from sight.

"Naruto?" Sakura whispered, slightly fearful of the boy, but also concerned as he noticed his tense stature, as well as the outbreak he just let out twice in a row. "Are you alright?"

"Sakura-chan," Naruto began, forcing a smile onto his face as he rubbed the back of his head. "At least you're still normal." Sakura rose an eyebrow at that but remained silent before walking out of the classroom, leaving Sayuri and Naruto in the room alone.

Naruto spared Sayuri a single glance before leaving the room as well, leaving the last female Uchiha in the academy room by herself, her heart still beating out of her chest as her eyes never left the spot Naruto had just been in. What the hell was that? Why did she picture Naruto killing her in almost a hundred ways in just a second?

She hadn't felt that helpless since. . .

A scowl formed on her face. She shoved her hands into her pockets as she stormed out of the room and took the stairs to the rooftop. How dare that Uzumaki make her feel like that? He'd pay!

Obito watched as his students arrived and sat down a good distance from one another. Naruto and Sayuri looked super moody, which confused Obito on the first part, he had observed his sensei's son from a distance for a while now and he always wore a smile, even after baring the scorn of the villagers. Why did he look as if he were in another world? A terrible world at that?

"Okay, so let's introduce one another then? How about you go first, Sakura?" Obito asked. Sakura frowned for being chosen first and quickly flipped it around.

"How about you go first, sensei? That way we know what to do?" She suggested as Obito laughed inwardly before he shrugged.

"Alright. My name is Obito Uchiha, as you know. I like telling jokes, being hilarious, as well as arriving fashionably late, as you all have noticed. I dislike being told what to do when I know what's right, disrespectful people, and people who believe they are better than others based on the scores on paper. My hobbies include telling jokes, being hilarious, and being late." Naruto felt his nose twitch in annoyance, looking at the sky as to not see the man who had killed many of his comrades.

"And as for my dream, I want to be the Fifth Hokage!" He said happily, grinning ear to ear, unable to contain his obvious excitement. "Now your turn, Sakura." Sakura sighed but just went with it.

"My name is Sakura Haruno. I like to hang out with Ino and playing trivia games. I dislike perverts and people who choose ignorance over knowledge. My hobbies include playing Trivia Night with my family and talking about boys with Ino. My dream is to become a Kunoichi that can make my parents proud." Obito smiled at her, making her cheer internally, happy to score good points with her new sensei.

"Now your turn, Sayuri," Obito said, his voice a tad bit more gentle than he had said with Sakura. He had been the only survivor of the Uchiha other than Sayuri, and he had to help take care of her, but she constantly pushed him away enough to where they still seemed like strangers rather than distant family.

With a sigh, Sayuri began her intro. "My name is Sayuri Uchiha. I don't particularly like anything, but I tend to dislike a lot of things. I have no other hobbies other than training, reading, and learning new Jutsu. My dream is not just a dream, because I will make it a reality. I will kill a certain someone and restore my clan back to its former glory." Obito internally sighed.

He had tried his best to stave off her quest for revenge, but he had failed each time he tried teaching her that revenge was never the answer. She wouldn't listen to reason, too blinded by her hatred for the world and for her brother.

"And now you, Naruto." Naruto looked over to Obito, a feeling of disgust running through him.

Obito looked at Naruto and Sasuke, his one Rinnegan eye and one Sharingan eye glimmering in the moonlight as his pale white skin, etched with several Sage marks, began sprouting out a black metal that looked as if it were a liquid.

"You will not stop me from saving this world from itself," A long DNA-shaped sword appeared in Obito's hand. "No one will."

"Fine," Naruto spoke. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I like ramen and training. I hate failure and have no tolerance for it, especially when it is I who fails. My hobbies are limited to training and learning as much as I can. My dream," Naruto stopped for a second, his voice trailing off.

From Orochimaru to Madara, the villains in his life have always stood in his way because he lacked the knowledge and power to stop them. He always struggled to get past them and had to rely on help from others. He had to train to overcome every obstacle that had crossed his path after he already crossed it. Not anymore, he won't allow it. He won't be caught by surprise. Not anymore. Never again.

"My dream," He repeated. "Is to become strong enough to stop those who wish to harm the village and the world, and to protect my comrades till my last breath." He swore then and there. Obito's, as well as Sayuri's and Sakura's eyes, widened at that. Was this the bright blonde they all knew? Or did something change overnight?

What was with this sudden change in this boy's persona?

"Good." Obito finished as he clapped his hands together, earning everyone's attention. "Now, usually I would wait till tomorrow to do this, but my excitement is bubbling and I want to test all of you now! Meet me at Training Grounds Seven in thirty minutes and see if you become Genin or not!" Obito shouted before disappearing in a body flicker.

"What?" Sakura spoke aloud in a confused tone. "What does he mean become Genin or not?"

"A test," Naruto answered. "Only 33.3% of the teams that graduate the academy become Genin. The academy is to weed out the weaklings so we don't weaken our own shinobi force by letting powerless nobodies become a part of our military."

"Aren't you a weak nobody, dobe?" Sayuri asked, crossing her arms over her chest as her eyes narrowed at him. Naruto glanced back at her, anger bubbling in his chest slightly before he quickly turned his head back to the village before him, shoving that anger in his chest.

Sasuke was dead, replaced by a girl named Sayuri. His brother was dead. Replaced by someone he didn't even know. He would mourn his brother later.

After his mission was completed.

But for now, he had to take this man's test, no matter how much he would hate to do so.

He would get stronger.

Strong enough to blow Madara away.

Naruto, Sakura, and Sayuri arrived on the seventh training ground their sensei had told them to go to and were met with the sight of Obito Uchiha grinning at them, two bells in his hands as they tapped lightly against each other.

"Your job is to take these bells from me. As you can see, there are only three bells here. Two of you will obtain these bells, the one who doesn't will immediately fail and go back to the academy while the rest of you go on to become Genin? Sound fair? Good!" He said in one big sentence, not letting any of the fresh academy students to reply. He put the bells on his hip before clapping.

"Now, begin!" Sayuri and Sakura disappeared in an instant, hiding amongst the bushes and trees while Naruto stood there, glaring at Naruto.

"Oh? So you're approaching me? Instead of running and hiding away like a good student, you're approaching me head-on without any doubt?" Obito said with a smirk. Naruto flexed his fingers, the chakra running through his body, trying his very best to control it.

Minimal control was better than none.

"I can't beat the shit out of you without getting any closer," Naruto replied harshly. Obito's smirk only widened.

"Oh ho ho, then come as close as you like!"

'That idiot!'  Sakura and Sayuri thought at the same time as they watched their supposed teammate get ready to fight their sensei alone.

"I may not be as strong as I used to be," Naruto said, causing Obito to raise a single eyebrow in confusion. "But I can remember all of my fighting styles, I can adapt them in this body no problem. You see," Naruto ran towards Obito, his fingers making the signature cross as two more Naruto's poofed into existence. "I'm a bit more than a genius when its comes to fighting a superior opponent!"

Obito's eyes widened momentarily as he dodged the clone's constant barrage of attacks. They worked in perfect synchronization, using one another to try and gain an advantage over him. Try is the keyword.

Obito quickly dispatched one of the clones, the smoke going in his face as his instincts told him to duck. He ducked just in time as a Naruto clone flew right above him and crashed into the ground. Obito smirked again.

"As a fan of Jojo, I respect you. Tell me, what's your favorite part?" Obito asked as he caught sight of Naruto, who was still glaring at him, all the while making sure the clone behind him stood still as well.

"Part two is obviously the best. While part three is good, Joseph has a lot more character development and is obviously easier to get attached to while part three doesn't like focusing on one thing for too long. Also," Naruto said as he disappeared in a cloud of smoke, causing Obito's eyes to widen.

"Jotaro has too much plot armor!" He shouted, a clone at his side, waving his hands over Naruto's own right hand as Obito took a small step back.

"No way. . ." He said breathlessly. Naruto quickly dispelled his clone, a perfect Rasengan in his right hand as he charged Obito. "It's impossible!"

"I win this round!" Naruto shouted as he plunged the Rasengan into Obito's chest, only for the Uchiha to blow up in a cloud of smoke. "Shit," Naruto muttered before a kick hit in the shoulder as he flew across the training ground, disrupting the dirt as it clouded Obito's vision.

"I don't know how on earth you could know that move," Obito said accusingly, his usual happy and chipper voice all but vanished, replaced by a serious voice befitting of a Jounin. "But only two people know of that Jutsu, Jiraiya of the Sannin, and me. I know he didn't teach you that, and I didn't teach you that either. So how in the hell do you know the Rasengan?"

"I don't have to tell you shit," Naruto replied as he flared his chakra, standing up as he closed his eyes. "I need more speed, my style is useless if I'm not fast! I need more speed," He shouted as he frowned, his eyes trailing down to his stomach. "Kurama, I know you don't know me, but I need your help."

As if humming in agreement, red chakra slowly began spreading across Naruto's body as his fingernails turned into sharp as knives claws, his hair and whiskers appearing to become more untamed and wild as his eyes turned from the bright blue to a crimson red, a thin black slit going vertically down his eye, glaring at Obito who had taken a step back.

'He's using the Kyuubi's Chakra? Is the seal loosening?' He thought as his Sharingan activated.

"Thanks, Kurama," Naruto muttered as Obito just stood there, prepared to take on the Jinchuuriki's fury. "Now, let's teach this fucker who's gonna become Hokage!" And with that, he disappeared in a flash of red.

Sayuri, who had been watching the fight from a tree, was watching as Naruto fought their sensei with wide eyes. The dobe was strong, strong enough for him to get Obito's Sharingan to activate, something was wrong.

The dobe's appearance had changed too, he looked wild, animalistic even. She knew he was an orphan and would probably compare him to an Inuzuka but he had bright blonde hair while the Inuzuka usually had brown or black hair. Also, that red chakra was a mystery too, but it made her stomach queasy just thinking about it, it seemed toxic, powerful, but like a double-edged sword.

She would wait a bit longer before striking.

Obito quickly ducked as Naruto flew over his head, the blonde sliding over the dirt before quickly going back on the offensive as he engaged Obito in taijutsu once again, the two dealing blows equal to one another.

'What the hell is this?' Obito thought as he blocked another one of Naruto's punches. 'I know the Kyuubi is strong, but this is ridiculous! Without my Sharingan, I'd probably lose without ninjutsu!'

Naruto felt his foot hit Obito's forearm and let a smirk crawl upon his face before spinning in the air, using the momentum to bring his other foot like a hammer on top of Obito's head, only for his foot to pass right through the man's head.

"I don't give a shit about your Kamui!" Naruto shouted as he immediately backed off. "I know it hurts you!" He said as he looked at Obito's face, smirking even further as he noticed that his right eye was bleeding.

"I don't know how you know what my technique is called," Obito said as his Mangekyou immediately changed back to his three tomoed Sharingan. "But you know too much about a lot of things, don't you?"

"Sensei would be disappointed in you," Naruto spoke casually. "I mean, didn't my father teach you how to watch your back?" Obito was taken aback by those words. Father? Sensei? Did Naruto know who his father was? And if he did, how? Had the Third told him? No, that's unlikely. . .

Then who?

He cursed as he was forced to substitute himself with a log as several shuriken impaled the piece of wood. Sayuri cursed as she began fleeing the area only to stop as Obito materialized in front of her.

"No no, Sayuri-chan, you're not allowed to get away that easily!" He shouted, though his thoughts were still on Naruto. He was nothing like the academy reports had said he was!

Sayuri narrowed her eyes at Obito before going through a series of hand signs and blowing a large fireball from her mouth as it burned the leaves and trees that separated her from the man. Obito didn't even seem to be remotely scared of the Jutsu.

Obito quickly leaped off of the tree branch, backflipping as he landed on the grass below as the ashes of the wood slowly came fluttering down like rain. "Don't ever turn your back on me again," A venomous whisper came from behind him.

Obito whirled around but found nothing there.

"You aren't supposed to be here," The voice said, getting angrier. Obito closed his eyes and tried to pinpoint the source of the noise but was unable to, it was like it was a. . .

"Genjutsu." He finished before dispelling it with ease. "I know Naruto doesn't have the control do pull off a high-ranked genjutsu. Sayuri doesn't know any. So that leaves, Sakura." He said as he looked up and saw the pinkette standing on a branch above him, a determined look in her emerald green eyes.

"We will beat you!" Obito rose an eyebrow, but inwardly he was grinning. We? We? Were they going to really pass the test on the first try?

"Now!" Sayuri yelled from further up in the treeline. Obito's eyes widened as he felt a presence behind him. He turned around, but it was too late.

With his leg covered in a dark blue, Naruto kicked Obito in the head, causing the man to fly through several trees and back onto the clearing, skidding across the grass.

"Damn, that hurt." Obito murmured. "Kid packs quite the kick." He stood back up, nursing his head before he suddenly froze.

Naruto stood just outside of the forest, glaring murderously. Killing intent was flooding off of the boy's body in tsunami-sized waves. Obito couldn't help but drop to one knee as sweat dripped down his chin.

What was this? What was this killing intent? This Kyuubi didn't even release this much when it attacked the village! Where was all this pain coming from?

The look he was getting from Naruto was nothing but pure loathing and hate. What had he done to this boy to make him give him such a look? This pressure. . . it was unreal!

A small jingle disrupted his thoughts as everything immediately stopped. "We win, Obito," Sayuri said with a smirk as she held up two bells. Obito's eyes widened as he looked at his hip, only to realize that the bells were indeed gone.

With a small smile, he stood up completely, stretching slightly. "Okay Sayuri, now you get to choose who passes. Remember, only those with a bell are allowed to pass." Sayuri looked between Naruto and Sakura, the latter looking at her nervously as the former wasn't even glancing in her direction.

"Cut the shit," Naruto immediately said, surprising Obito as well as Sayuri and Sakura. "We both know the truth behind this test. You wanted to see if we were capable to work as a team, and we did." Sayuri smirked, but inwardly she was thinking.

"You," Naruto began as he approached her from a branch from a different tree. "I have another clone talking to Sakura at the moment. To pass this thing we need to work together." Sayuri narrowed her eyes.

"And how do I know you won't swindle me out of a bell?" She asked. Naruto rolled his eyes.

"Keep the bells, I don't want them. Not from him."

How had he known about the test? What was this sudden change in personality for the Uzumaki? He was an idiot just a day ago, and now he's all serious and acting smart? What could've changed within twenty-four hours?

"Heh, you're a lot sharper than your kunai, Naruto, I'll give you that," Obito said with a small grin. "But he's right. This exercise was to pit you guys against each other, but you saw above that and still worked as a team. Sayuri with her ninjutsu, Sakura with her genjutsu, and Naruto with his brute strength. You all have the right niches to become a powerful assault team with Sakura being back-up while Naruto and Sayuri throw out the heavy punches.

"But remember this and remember it well, those who disobey the rules and regulations as a ninja are scum, but those who abandon their friends and comrades are worse than scum. If you all rely upon and trust one another, there's no doubt you'll reach your goals faster than what you would have alone."

Naruto's eyes widened.

"Those who don't follow the rules are scum, but those who abandon their comrades are even lower than scum." Kakashi Hatake said as he eyed proudly at his three new students, one of which was tied to a stump.

"K-Kaka-sensei?" Naruto spoke as he saw the shadow of the grey-haired shinobi behind Obito. "Kakashi-sensei!" He shouted out of nowhere, surprising everyone and even making Obito flinch. Clutching his chest in pain for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, Naruto immediately fled the Training Grounds, running through the forest, dodging the trees as tears blurring his vision.

"You want my help to evolve your Rasengan?"

"Please. . ." Naruto sobbed.

"Maah, Naruto, patience never was your strong suit."

"I'm begging you. . ."

"Y-You'll be an e-excellent Hokage!"

"Please stop tormenting me and rid me of this pain!" Naruto shouted as he finally collapsed to his knees, unable to stand straight as his whole body shook.

"I really do, love all of you."

"AGGHHHH!" Naruto screamed as his body suddenly flashed a bright yellow before disappearing in an instant, but he was too distraught to even notice. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Naruto repeated over and over again as images of the Hatake flashed and engraved itself into his brain.

"I couldn't save you, Kaka-sensei." He croaked out before he felt all of the energy suddenly leave his body. He fell onto the ground, tears still flowing from his eyes before darkness embraced the Genin, sweeping him away into a dreamless sleep.

And done. How was it? Good? Bad? Tell me!
