...Seventeen

December 23th.

"Yo, get your ass outta bed." I hear someone say. I don't even have to open my eyes to know who it is. "Were leaving."

I open my eyes to see Cara disappear in the hallway. Im still laying in bed but try to sit up as quickly as possible. My back hurts a lot however since the vampire girl pushed me down the stairs last night. I try to stretch my body out but flinch when noticing how much it actually hurts. I havent thought about it before I went to bed but now I was definitely feeling it.

"You okay?" Another voice asks. It was Selena, she looks at me with a concerned look on her face.

"Yea- Yeah its fine. Im fine." I say, not wanting to let her know that Cara hurt me the night before. "Just.. uhmm overstretched my back.. I guess."

"Oh okay." She replies, smiling a small smile at me when disappearing out of the doorway.

I get up from the bed then, stretching my long limbs out once more while trying to ignore the pain. I walk over to my closet, get a big backpack out, and start packing some clothes into it. When finished, I walk over to the bathroom and get ready there. I decide on washing myself quickly instead of showering, so we can leave as fast as possible.

I wear a grey long sleeved t-shirt with some black jeans underneath it. I don't apply any makeup, not wanting to take the time for that now and leave the bathroom after brushing my teeth. On my way downstairs, I grab my packed backpack and greet the two girls in the kitchen.

"You don't have anything normal to eat." Cara comments, instead of saying 'good morning'. "Do you live on fucking yoghurt and cereal?"

"Sorry, I didn't do any grocery shopping in a while." I mumble, sitting down at the kitchen table where Selena puts down some milk, cereal and a cup of tea for me. "Thank you."

"Good I hunted last night. Wouldn't be able to eat this shit." Cara continues when I start pouring some milk on my cereal.

"Well, lucky you." I reply, not able to take her grumpy comments any longer. I look up at her and look into her angry, blue eyes. She raises one eyebrow and sits down across of me.

"Whats that? No beer for breakfast?'' She asks then, purposely wanting to get on my nerves.

"Cara.." Selena warns, who is packing her own bag in the living room.

"Nope." I reply, still keeping eye contact with the vampire.

"Thats new." She replies, an evil grin on her face as she shrugs her shoulders. I decide to keep my frustration in and start eating my cereal. "By the way.." She continues. "What happened to 'scared of vampires Karlie'." She air quotes a few words and keeps on smiling at me.

"Nothing to be scared of anymore. Not of those kinda things anyway." I say, my mouth full with cereal and milk.

"Oh is that so?" Cara says then, het smile turning upside down as she gets up from her chair and walks towards me. Selena jumps in between us though, as I just sit there, eating my cereal.

"Are you done?" Selena hisses at Cara who is still looking at me with those angry eyes.

"For now.." The vampire girl mumbles as she steps backwards and out of the kitchen. "Were leaving in five!'' She shouts then, opening the front door and closing it again with a loud bang.

"God, she hates me." I mumble, swallowing my last few bites of food and getting up from the chair too.

"She will cool-" Selena tried.

"No, I get her actually. I hate myself for what I've done too. Or well, for what I havent done." I say, explaining myself as I put the dishes away.

"Don't.. Taylor doesn't want you to do that. You just did what you were told." Selena says, smiling that same apologetic smile at me as she has done the whole time already.

I just nod quietly and get my bag from the floor. "Lets just go." I say, while walking out of the kitchen and out of my apartment. The dark haired girl or well.. woman follows behind me

Were all seated in my truck and on our way to the place. The place of doom I call it now. Were on our way to the cave. Selena is driving and Cara is sitting in the back seat.

"Did you bring anything to drink?" The vampire asks me.

"If you mean blood. No." I say drily.

"I meant something like coke or sprite dumbass." Cara says then and I swear I hear a little amusement in her voice.


"In the back." I say then, not looking at her but at the road ahead of us. Its snowing and the sky looks dark and grey. Its a typical December day.

"Sel, pull over please?" Cara says then.

"What? Just because you're thirsty?"

"Yes." Cara says. I look at her in the rear view mirror then and see her smile. She catches me looking at her though and her smile quickly turns into a frown.

"Fine." Selena sighs. She slows the vehicle down and pulls over at the side of the calmest road ever. Cara gets out and returns with a few bottles of soda that I had put in the back of the pick up truck.

"We can go again." She says as she buckles up and passes around some coke.

"Thanks." I mumble as Selena speeds away again. She looks at me from the side. "See." She whispered. "Small steps." I smile and nod at her and take a sip of my drink. We havent even driven for two hours yet, 'this is going to be a long drive.'

"How long still? My ass hurts." Cara asks as she wakes up from a little nap she took on the backseat of the truck.

"Whats up with the sleeping Cara? Thought vampires didn't sleep?"

"Vampires get tired of shit too and wanna shut out the world just like you half humans do." The vampire girl replies sassily with a grin on her face. She had slept for about four hours and it has now turned dark outside. "Seriously, what time is it? How long still?" She asks then, her voice somehow nicer than before.


"Its 5pm so that means about 5 more hours." Selena replies. I look to my side for a short while and see that she's smiling, I cant help but wonder why.

Cara lets out a long sigh and lays down on her back. "Shouldn't you wear a seatbelt?" Selena asks, already knowing the answer she is going to get.

"Ha." Cara laughs sarcastically, closing her eyes once more as she turns around to lay in a somewhat comfortable looking position on the backseat. I focus on the road again, my eyes becoming tired from all the driving I have been doing the past couple of hours.

"Getting tired huh?" Selena asks, staring at me from the side.

"Oh, its okay. I can handle it." I reply, shrugging my shoulders.

"Karlie, I can drive." The girl replies with a smile on her face.

"No, its fine Sel. You've driven enough too."

"Gosh, you're just as stubborn as Taylor told me. Too bad that lazy vampire cant drive." She says, pointing to the backseat of the truck.

"Heard that." Cara mumbles.


"You were supposed to." Selena laughs. I giggle together with the dark haired girl and notice that it has started to snow outside.

"I hate snow." Selena mumbles, pulling her knees up to her chest to sit in a more comfortable position.

"Why?" I ask her.

"Unlike that old creature," She points at the backseat again. "I don't like the cold."

"Winer." Cara says, sitting up again, a small grin on her face. She looks happier than before. Well maybe not happier but more.. okay.

"I don't really like the cold either." I say, looking at Cara in the rearview mirror.

"Well, you're both winers then." She replies. Its the first normal sentence that she has said to me since arriving the day before. I smile at the vampire girl and to my surprise, see her smiling back at me. Selena must have noticed it since she looks over at me and grins at me. "I told you." She mouths, making me grin back at her.

"Sel, wake up. Were here."

The dark haired girl just keeps on snoring on the backseat. She and Cara had switched seats a while ago. This meant the vampire was sitting next to me now, which was awkward at first, but actually okay later. She didn't say a word to me, but didn't look at me with scary, angry eyes anymore.

"Jeez, Selena.." Cara mumbles, crawling into the back of the car. "Wake up."

Selena opens her eyes lazily and raises her eyebrows when she notices that Cara is now laying on top of her.

"Jesus Cara, get off me." She says groggily while pushing the smiling girl off her. "Oh, don't you like a beautiful gi-"

"Cara, fuck off." Selena interrupts the now laughing vampire. I just watch the two and grin at them. 'Taylor is lucky to have these two.' I think to myself as they both get up and put their coats on. We all get out of the car then.

"Ready for this, human-born?" Cara asks me, smiling.

I nod. "Yes."

"Well come on then." She says. She gives me a pet on my back and walks to the back of the truck. "Lets kill that motherfucker." She grabs a small backpack out of the back and I decide to leave my bag in the car, knowing it wont be of any use anyway.

"You okay?" I hear a voice ask. Its Selena, she walks towards me, hands in her pockets, a small smile on her face.

"Yeah, just.. nervous.. I guess."

"Well.." She says. "You would be completely crazy if you weren't."

"Is this gonna work Selena? Are we going to safe her?" I ask, the questions in my mind that are no longer able to stay hidden there. "I care so much for her. She has to be okay. She has to." I feel myself trying to hold a few tears back that are already rolling down my cheeks.

"Oh come here." The dark haired girl says, pulling me into a warm hug. "Its all going to be okay. Just trust in yourself, your power and trust us a little too. Even that tough one. She does have a heart you know." She says, stepping back and pointing at Cara who is already standing at the edge of the forest.


"I know." I nod while wiping the tears off my cheek. "Im sorry for crying. Its just.. Its really fucking scary."

"I know." Selena replies then. "We can do it though."

"Come on slow half-wolfs! Lets head over to my den in the forest yeah, it's getting late." Cara shouts from the distance.

"Yeah yeah.." Selena shouts back, a small smile still present on her face. "Come on." She says, locking the car and walking towards the edge of the forrest. I take a deep breath and follow the dark haired girl into the cold, night air. I keep my eyes on both girls and see that Selena is suddenly shifting in the blink of an eye. She looks so powerful with her dark fur and her muscled body parts, her teeth flashing in the faint moonlight. "Sexy." I hear Cara comment and for the first time I wonder if the vampire girl would have some kind of crush on the other girl. Selena lets out a low grumble and starts running into the woods.

"Karlie, lets go." Cara says then, smiling at me, her sharp, vampire teeth shining. She then rises up from the ground and disappears above the trees. I start running towards the forest edge and shift as quick as I can. Its only a matter of a flash, a growl and a weird feeling running through my body and I've turned into my wolf self. I stare into the darkness, not even surprised anymore that my vision is much better when im in my wolf form. I don't see Selena anymore however and so I just take off and run into the darkness.

The snowflakes that was still making its way down from the clouds were floating onto the ground in a feather-like way. "Here, this way!" I hear Cara shout from up in the sky then. She shoots down towards the ground and stops just before she hits the ground. I run in her direction as fast as I can, making sure to not hit any trees or bushes while chasing the flying vampire.

About two hours later we arrive at Cara's small but cozy den. "Its been a while since I've been here so we might have some visitors. Who knows." Cara says, landing into the ground next to Selena and I.

"Ill stay wolf." I say to Selena, who then shifts back into her human form.

Cara opens the door and quickly jumps in, expecting some kind of invasion of strangers living in her old den. "Show yourself!" She shouts into the dark living area. Selena grabs her phone out of her pocket and shines into the den.

"Everything seems clear." She says calmly, moving towards the back of the den to check the small bedroom area. I shift back into my human form too then and follow Selena towards the back of the den.

"Clear!" I shout then, making sure Cara hears it too.

"Good, im thirsty." She says then, opening some kind of old fridge in the corner of the living room. "Oh god no." Selena mutters, sitting down on a wooden chair in the corner of the room. "Cara, how long havent you been here? That stuff must be rotting by now." She says.

"Havent been here a year or four, I don't know. Im thirsty okay?" She says, opening a bottle with a red liquid in which I already know must be blood.

"You havent been here for four years?" I ask, sitting down at a chair across from the vampire who was now gulping the red substance into her body.

"Nope." She replies, wiping her red, blood moustache away with the back of her hand.

"Why?" I ask, still uncertain about talking with the girl.

"Well.." She sighs. "Taylor's dad doesn't really like vamps, we had to leave or otherwise he would kill us."

"Oh." 'Wrong topic Karlie..'

"So I left and went to Coletown. I knew Selena went back there after being freed, even though it was risky since a few wolves in that town don't like vamps either." Her eyes turn a bit darker then, anger present in her face. "Then Taylor send us a message that we had to help her and well.. since then we have been trying to free her in some kinda way. But that fucking asshole.." Her voice becomes louder and she bawls her fists now.

"Car, calm down." Selena says calmly from the corner of the room.

The vampire lets out a deep sigh. "He didn't let us in. Well, Selena once.. but that was it. We weren't allowed to see Taylor. And thats why we went to the wizard and somehow got him to send this potion to Tay so that she could make this hologram thing. Oh well and that kinda worked since we could all come together then and do.. well do this." She explained, not looking at me the whole time.

"I understand that this all must have been so hard for you guys."

"Do you?" Cara shoots then.

"What?" I ask.

"Cara.." Selena warns, looking at us with her brown, worried eyes


"Do you 'understand' how hard it was for us?" The vampire spits, looking at me for the first time now, her blue eyes staring into mine.

"Well.. I mean I can imagine how hard it must have been for you. I feel really bad for that and I also feel bad for Taylor who has to live with that asshole every single day. Im just.. Im sorry.."

It stays silent then, no one saying anything as we sit there in the dimly lit room. "Good." Cara says then. Drinking the last of her blood and throwing the bottle away then. "Because you havent done much to help us either in the past couple of years." She gets up from the table and walks into the bedroom area.

"I.. I didn't know what I could do. I.. I just did what Taylor told me, I ran away. I went away." I say. "She told me to go."

Cara doesn't even turn around and closes the bedroom door with a loud bang when she enters it. I let out a sigh and lay my head on the wooden table in front of me.

"Karlie, It will be okay. Don't worry so much about her, she is hurt now. She will be okay with you later. I guess she just needs you to prove your worth for us and most of all for Taylor."

I lift my head up from the table and look in her direction. She is giving me a sincere look and I try to smile at her but fail miserably as my lips trembles. "Im such an ass." I mumble.

"Oh shut up." She says, getting up from the wooden chair. "You did what you were told. Nothing wrong with that."

"Thats not true." I say, tears burning in my eyes for what feels like the 100th time this day. "She didn't tell me: 'Karlie, never look for me. Karlie, become an alcoholic. Karlie, try to forget me.' She didn't tell me any of that. She only told me to go."

"But those things are all based on your emotions. She knows that you miss her. She knows you tried to find her. She knows you love her, Karlie." Selena says, laying a hand on my shoulder as she talks.

"I miss her." Is all I can mumble through a waterfall of blinding tears that run down my face.

"Me too. But we will see her tomorrow." She says. "Try to look forward to that."

"Thank you." I mumble, wiping my tears away. "Lets sleep now." She says, pointing at the couch. "Ill ask Cara if I can sleep in her room for the night."

I get up from the chair and walk over to the couch that stands in the middle of the old den. "I bet you don't mind that." I say sassily, looking Selena in the eye as I turn around to look at her.

"Karlie!" She says loudly, her cheeks turning red. I start laughing and lay down on the couch. "Good night!" I say playfully, wiggling my eyebrows. Her cheeks turning an even darker shade of red.

"Gosh.. night Karlie." She giggles, walking into the dark looking bedroom. I close my eyes and drift off into sleep almost immediately, exhausted by both the physical and mental action today.

December 24th.

"Wow, were at the valley already?" Selena asks, looking around her. "Its been a while since I've been here."

"Try not to think about it." Cara says, somehow seeming to read Selena's mind since Sel and I are both in our wolf form and Cara cant understand a word we say.

Were running through the white landscape, the snow crackling softly underneath our paws. Cara is flying high up in the air at fast speed, leading the way.

"So.." I start. "Whats up between you and her?" I say, looking at Cara while asking it.

Selena shoots me a look. "Nothing." She says and I know, if she could right now, she would blush.


"Selena.." I sigh, looking at her from the side, while still running at a fast pace.

"Nothing.. yet?" She says, looking at me with a questioning look.

"If you're wondering if she likes you too.. I think she does." I say. If I could smile at the girl right now, I would.

"Really?" The dark haired wolf asks excitedly.


"I think so yeah. I mean she's always flirting with you it seems." I say, not wanting to give the girl too much hope but wanting to give her my opinion on the whole thing.

"Hmm." She growls softly. The conversation seems to end there, me not wanting to ask too much about it and her obviously skipping the subject.

"Stop!" Cara shouts from above then, zooming down toward the earth and landing with both feet on the ground.


"What is it?" Selena growls, knowing that Cara probably didn't get her anyway.


"I saw movement close to the mountain." She points towards the huge, grey looking, partly with snow covered mountain on the end of the fields. "Probably guards."

"Put your cloak on." Selena says then. "You smell strong."

"Such a compliment." I say then, knowing Cara wont understand us anyway. Selena shoots me a look and then takes the small backpack that is on Cara's back in her mouth and rips the cloak out.

"Oh, yeah." The vampire mumbles, putting the old thing over her head and pulling the hood over her head. Selena rubs her head on Cara's side, making the girls smile and stroke the wolf's head.

"Get a room." I say, running away from the pair, towards the mountain. 

"Whats up with her?" I hear Cara say then, which makes me laugh even more.

When we reach the edge of the mountain I run over to the edge of the other side of the forest, knowing that the secret entrance must be in that area. "Over there!" I hear a low voice shout then and its not Cara's nor Selena's.

"Fuck." I growl softly, seeing two big guys appear in front of me. They're in their human form but look like they can shift at every moment. 


"Warn the king!" The other one shouts then. But its too late for them to even try to move, Cara is on the back of the bigger one and bites his neck furiously. The guy shouts for help but his pal was being attacked by a big brown wolf that I knew very well by now. Selena was biting his neck too with her sharp teeth, making sure his death was fast and well.. not completely painless.

Both guys fall to the ground then, both dead as a rock immediately. Cara wipes her mouth aggressively. "If that was some kind of tactic of yours, then it was a fucking bad one Kloss."

"Oh, don't complain." Selena says, in her human form now. "You were thirsty anyway."

Cara lets out a laugh at that. "Filthy grey blood." She says, a smile on her face as she talks. I shift back too my human self and smile at them shyly.

"Sorry for that.." I mumble, a hand in my neck. "I just.. I wanted to get.. here."

"I get that girl." Selena says, smiling.

"Just.." Cara sighs. "Just a little bit more careful next time please?" And I swear I saw a small smile on her face. I smile back at her. "Okay."

"The entrance is somewhere over there." I say, pointing towards the large, wild bushes. We all walk over there and start searching for some kind of hole or door, not finding anything however.

"Well where the fuck was this stupid entrance th-" Cara starts but suddenly stops talking as she shoots down into some kind of tunnel.

"There." I say, jumping into the dark tunnel too. Not even waiting for Selena to follow behind me, I speed off into the darkness, knowing that she must be close.

"Hey, calm down kid." Cara says as I run past her. She takes off too and I can hear Selena shift into her wolf form again, so I do the same.

We all reach the end of the long, dark tunnel that I still recognise from all those years ago and to my surprise, the large stone door is already open, a person standing in the doorway. A blond person, and do I know this person well.

"Taylor!" I scream as I see her standing behind those giant doors. The girl smiles at me and I cant help it, I start running towards her.

"Karlie! Stop!" I hear Cara and Selena both shout at me. But I couldn't stop now anymore. I was about to hug her. I was about to meet Taylor and save her from this dungeon.

When I reach Taylor, I want to engulf her in a hug but to my surprise, I run right through her. 'What the hell..' The doors suddenly shut behind me, shutting me into a dark room with Cara and Selena on the other side of the thick, grey doors. "Its a trap!" I hear Cara shout from the other side. 'shit.'

"Hello there, miss Kloss." I loud, deep voice says.

The lights on the wall flick on and when I turn around, I don't see her standing there but him instead. "Adam.." I growl.

I am SO SORRY that it took me so long to update! I was on a winterports trip and I didnt have any internet for a week and before that I was super busy with all my school stuff (which should actually be finished by now. Ha. Ha. Haaa). I hope you guys will forgive me and liked this chapter. 

I already have the next one finished actually but I will keep you guys waiting for it just a little bit longer *insert evil laugh*

Ill update it soon though and I hope ill be able to update a little more frequent than this. School is a pain in the ass though and so is my driving licence theory. -_-
