18:42, 4 May 2020I uploaded again! Don't want to get writer's block because y'know.. I don't want to make the same mistake I did with my other fanfic HAHAHA.
Here's chapter 2 guys. Enjoy and stay safe ❤️---------------------3rd Person POVFlashback to 3 days ago"WHAT? LUNA SAITO HAVE YOU GONE MAD?!" Luna's dad yelled at her. "Absolutely not Luna. We're not talking about this" her mom continued.
You can see the look in Luna's disappointed face. How frustrated she is that her parents are opposing her idea. She absolutely has to do this. No matter what. Even just for a short amount of time.
Meanwhile, his older brother Sky just examines Luna's face. "Mom, Dad. You HAVE to understand! I'm 21 for crying out loud! I'm an adult and I am old enough to make my own decisions! Can't you even understand that?! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Luna shouted with tears streaming down her face. Her parents do not answer. Instead, Sky decided to speak up after minutes of complete and utter silence.
"Why? Why Luna? What's gotten to you?" he decided to ask with a completely serious face. Luna leaned into his brother's direction and held his hands tightly, shaking with determination.
"Sky. I need to. I want to. I spent all those years training and pouring my life to skating. Its my passion. My life. I miss it so much, Sky. I don't want to die with regrets." Luna stared intently at Sky who can see and feel his sister's burning determination.
"Would you be happy with it? Skating, I mean." Sky retorted."You know me Sky. Of course I would. This has been my dream for years and it still will be for a very long time"
"Then go." Sky said while smiling sincerely at Luna. He turns to their parents saying "Mom, dad. Let her. You heard her. You saw her. This is the least we can do for her after keeping her all cooped up here at home. She deserves to be put there. I guess you could say, its her destiny."
Their parents look at each other as if speaking only with their eyes. Their mom nodded and their dad finally speaks."All right. Your mom and I. We don't want to be the reason for your unhappiness. We love you so much, you know that right, our baby?" Their father said hugging Luna from the side.
"I'll never let you down. I promise. You make me so happy. THANK YOU GUYS. YOU'RE THE BEST!" Luna exclaimed while pulling everyone for a hug. I'm sorry for lying... I just need to do this. I want to.
****Now here I am, in front of the famous Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club at 7 AM in the morning. I haven't skated for years too, so I checked my gear after having the conversation with my family 3 days ago. So I got a lot of things, mainly I got new boots and blades because my old ones were to old and busted. Speaking of my skating gear, it's currently not in my possession. My older brother is trailing behind me like he's my personal assistant or something holding all my stuff because he said it might too early for me to be straining myself with such a heavy bag.
I can vividly remember what he said "I support you Luna. But on strong conditions. I'm gonna drop you off and pick you up since you start training early and end late. Almost the same time as my classes. Okay? No ifs, ands, or buts"
So here he is. My personal assistant. Also, my father talked to the coach specifically the other day so there shouldn't be any problems. We headed to the receptionist."Good morning! I'm Luna Saito and I'm a new skater here. I just want to ask where Coach Brian Orser is?" I smiled at her. "Good day Miss Saito! Please head inside. Coach Brian and Coach Tracy are in the rink with the other skaters for a briefing. Thank you!" She replied.
As I was walking inside I scolded Sky "Seriously bro. Why are you still here? You're gonna be late for you class!" "Aw c'mon sis. I wanna see you off on your first day. Besides, I'm dying to see THE Coach Brian Orser." He replied while winking and I just roll my eyes.
We went inside and I saw the team all huddled up for what looks like a season briefing and I met eyes with my former coach, Coach Tracy Wilson. Her eyes widened as she skated towards me and hugged me tightly saying "Luna! Oh my gosh I missed you so much!"
"I missed you so much too coach! I'm ready to get back to work!" I replied happily. Just the thought of being allowed to skate again sent shivers down to my spine. What I didn't notice was all the other skaters were looking at me and Coach Tracy. I felt intimidated but all that thought left my mind as I saw them smiling fondly at the sight. Just then, someone said
"Look who's here? Aren't you a bit late?" A middle-aged man suddenly skates toward us with a smile in his face.
"Well, well, well. I missed you too Coach Brian Orser. Or should I say, my favourite uncle?" I said while smiling so wide. "What's up my favorite niece?" My uncle said and hugged me tightly.
"Hey! I thought I was your favourite nephew?" Sky sounded offended as he proceeded to greet Uncle Brian. "That was supposed to be a secret, Sky. Shut up." Our uncle said jokingly as we laughed at each other fondly.
"Welcome to TCC, Luna. You ready to skate again?" Uncle Brian said while messing up my hair."Hey! I was always ready uncle. My family here decided to keep my amazing talent and beauty at home." I said sarcastically while gesturing to my brother who just rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, Luna. I should get going, I have an 8 AM class. Nice seeing you again Uncle Brian! Please take care of Luna for me!" Sky shouted as he left.
Coach Tracy and Uncle Brian met eye to eye, and Coach Tracy went to the other skaters while Uncle Brian dragged me a bit to the corner and we started whispering to each other.
"Luna.." He trailed off. "I want to do this. Please uncle. It may be my last chance." I look at him with pleading eyes. "All right. But when you're feeling something, if you're tired or uncomfortable, tell us immediately. Okay?" He said to me seriously."Yes daaaaad~" I said jokingly. "Good girl. Now let's go meet the others!" And so Uncle, or should I call him here Coach, helped me with keeping my stuff while I tie my laces. When he got back, we skated to the middle to meet the team.
Now may be outgoing, but I still am shy especially when meeting so many people at the same time. So I kinda retreated back behind Coach Brian's arm as I look down at my skates. Then I heard a girl say "Aren't you Luna Saito? It's such an honor to meet you!" I looked up and saw the Russian Skater Evgenia Medvedeva. "Hi. Uhm, yea that's me.." I smiled at her sheepishly. Of course I know her, even if I stopped competing, I still watched competitions but only the ladies'. And apparently, she's one of the top skaters as of the moment.
"Guys, I want you to meet Luna Saito. She's my niece and she's coming from retirement. She's here to train and join the grand prix season with you guys." Coach Brian said as he introduced me. I just looked up, smiled and waved shyly. Everyone gave me a round of applause and started talking all at once welcoming me to the team.
"All right, all right hush now. Let's get back to business. Go warm up and after that, we'll see Luna's skills after not being able to skate for 9 years. That okay with you?" I stared at Coach Brian as if he grew another head. "Just a short program if you remember it. No need to push yourself too hard as you only got back." Coach Tracy looked at me with slight worry etched on her face.
After a few moments of thinking I said, "Of course I remember. I'd never forget." "Great! Now go warm up." Coach Brian replied while tapping my shoulder.
As I was warming up, I fixed my clothes. I'm wearing a white adidas windbreaker, black leggings as well as black gloves. While I was skating and gliding around with Zhenya, Javi, and Jason, which truthfully I got along with too fast. But hey! I'm not complaining at all. Anyways, I notice this guy. I feel like I've seen him somewhere but I can't put my finger on it. He was wearing this tight, body fit training shirt, black gloves and some slacks-looking pants. He looks Asian to me, just like me. He was just skating around as well but he was alone like he's concentrating so hard.
"Hello. Girl, Earth to Luna." Jason said snapping me out of my trance. Ah sh*t. I didn't notice I was staring."Yea what?" I said absentmindedly."He asked you what happened chica. Why'd you stop skating at such an early age?" Javi repeated Jason's question."Yes what happened? I watched your 2010 junior worlds free skate performance and it was BREATHTAKING!" Zhenya asked as well. I didn't want to lie to my new friends. But I also don't want them to feel pity towards me or worse, leave me because of my condition.. And at that question, I saw the guy I was looking at earlier turn his head toward us as if listening to our conversation. I hope he didn't see me staring at him. How freaking embarrassing.
And I reluctantly came up with an excuse and said "I uhhh.. I had to. I wanted to focus on studying at the time and I thought I wanted to become a doctor. Kinda like my brother. Turns out I was wrong. So ta-daaa. Here I am!" I hope this works, please. I thought to myself while crossing my fingers.
"Well that's understandable. You were so young yet you've achieved so much. That must've been confusing and pressuring for you." Jason said while looking at me with concerned eyes. I just nodded silently looking down.
Just then,"Warm up's over guys! Come here to the side. Luna! Ready to show us what you've got?" Coach Brian said excitedly.
"I guess? But my music?" I asked him."It's with me. I kept it." Coach Tracy said fondly and I just look at her with gratitude.
I went to the middle of the rink and did my opening pose. Here goes nothing then.
And then, Swan Lake Op. 20 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky played.
