Chapter 15

The next morning I wake up and get ready to go to set, today we are filming the pre-season finale and the premiere of the show is in 2 months, then back to filming for the pre-season premiere.

We have today and the rest of the week to begin filming.

I get into the car and buckle up as I suddenly receive a text

Noah- Hey! Do you wanna go to the city tonight around 5?

Alice- Sure, see ya than ;)

Another date with Noah?! He must really like me!

I can't help but smile so freakishly big.

"What are you all happy about?" Lauren asks me.

"Noah asked me out again." I bite my lip.

"To where! when?" she begins to drive.

"Tonight around the city. That's all he said." I look out the window.

We drive to the set without word and I get out and walk to my dressing room

I hear a knock just as I put on my costume shirt.

I open the door to see a familiar face.

"Hey, come in!" I welcome Chandler inside

"What's up?" he asks taking a seat, he is already in his Carl outfit.

"Just getting ready. What about you?" I smile

"Waiting." he sighs.

I can tell he wants to say something, so I say it for him

"I had a good time with Noah last night. Thanks again for introducing us, we're going out again tonight." I say closing the door slightly as I put my pants on.

"Oh... where?" he tries to sound careless.. The tone of his voice is very shaky. He can't see me, but I smile slightly at the obvious jealousy.

"The city." I say back.

"Oh, well, it's busy a lot at night so maybe you shouldn't go." he stutters... I smile again at those words and I pity him.

"Oh no it's fine." I walk out of the room and sit beside him as I slip on my shoes.

He doesn't reply.. looking at a spot on the floor with his fingers intertwined with one another on his lap.

"So what are you doing tonight?" I ask, trying to make him feel more comfortable, he must know that he sounds desperate. 

"Nothing..." he whispers.

"Okay well I have to go to makeup and hair. See ya later?" I stand

"Oh... uh, uh huh. Sure." he readjusts his seating position.

I stand in the door way. Looking in his direction.

"Oh! yeah sorry." he stands and leaves as I close the door.

"Bye." I walk away.

I get my hair and makeup done the same as usual and we all get called to set.

Everyone is in this scene except for Steven.

The scene is where the governor comes to take over the prison.

Before rolling there is about an hour to complete setting up. Ernest Dickerson, who is the director of this episode is standing with the writer, Seth Hoffman.

They go through the script before Ernest hops off his chair and walks to position some extras, and tells them how to stand and act.

I take the time to officially meet 3 of the actors I've never met, I've seen them but I've only been in a scene with one of them.

Chad L. Coleman who plays Tyreese, Sonequa Martin who portrays Sasha and David Morrissey who plays the governor. David is awaiting position as her talks with some of the crew.

Like I said I've seen Sonequa and Chad a few times but I've never been in any scenes except for one with Chad. Today is the first day David is on set with all of us, So everyone is catching up with him.

I begin to talk with Sonequa and Chad.

After some small talk I walk to David and say hello, but we are quickly called to stand in our positions.

Everyone gets directions, mainly focusing on Andrew, Scott, Danai, and David who have the most lines and screen time.

Once everything is set, the director yells action. -We all walk out and look at The governor and his army with their tank. He calls Rick down.

A few cameras are on them as they have their talk.

"I can do it..." Chandler says pointing his rifle through the crack of the fence.

"Your father is handling it." Norman grumbles.

A few moments later they pull Danai and Scott out. The pain is real as I get the feeling inside.

I lift my gun up next to Chandlers and get prepared to shoot.

"Don't do it Elizabeth." Norman looks to me.

I begin to squirm around, making a squished face. My finger lingers around onto the trigger

I know some of this will be cut out, we have to do this scene in one take for the emotion to be real.

I lower my gun in frustration before walking away and standing beside a shaken Emily.

"I'm gonna do it." I hear Chandler say

"No Carl your dads handling it." he says once more. Than the life changing speech is said.

It goes back and forth between actors.

The katana is brought to Scott's neck and tears fill my eyes.

After a few more words back and forth...

Scott's life as Hershel ends.

The scene we all mourn over happens and Scott falls to the ground.

Everyone's emotions are filmed, I'm beside Emily and Lauren as they both scream.

I put my hand over my mouth and my eyes can't get any wider.

"No..." I whisper, though nobody but the mic can hear it, Andrew lets out the first shot as Chandler follows. Everyone raises their weapons, then they cut the scene.

"That was amazing! But we need to re-do the scene of everyone's reaction after Hershel's death. So this time do something different so we have something to chose from." The director gives everyone directions on how to react.

"And, action." he yells and we do our reactions. My eyes widen and my mouth drops to the ground as I hold back tears. I'm still standing next to Emily and Lauren. I keep my hand down instead of bringing it to my mouth, and look over at Emily and Lauren, keeping back the tears.

"And cut!" he yells into a megaphone.

Scott has another scene tomorrow for this finale so we are having a small going away party for him.

We then begin to film the scene where Rick does the first fire thing once more and then it's a full on gun battle.

I get my gun loaded with fake bullets that feel like they are real and let out smoke and a flick of flame.

I stand in my position and pull up the rifle a few times as we do a quick run through.

"Action!" he yells, I pull up my gun and begin to cock and bullet.

The fake gun sends smoke across the field, a sound and flash shoots across to make the shot look real.

"I'm all out!" I yell

"Me too." Emily gasps.

"There's more amo in the bin." Lauren sobs.

We both re-load our guns with fake bullets.

We do some more shots and re-do the same scene about 3 times before we take a break.

They're going to film more scenes below with the governor and his crew, where Michonne cuts herself free and some more conflict so some of us take a break while they film.

I walk over to Norman, Steven, Lauren, Emily, Chandler, Sonequa and Chad who are goofing around at the snack table.

I stand beside Chandler as everyone plays around.

Norman and Emily begin to throw food. I dodge a cheeseball.

"Immature." I roll my eyes playfully

Suddenly I look over and find my mom walk in.

"Mom!" I yell before running to her and giving her a ginormous hug.

"Hey sweety!" she smiles

"What are you doing here!?" I pull away.

"Oh, we need to talk about something." she looks to the cast who has stopped to look at us.

I give them a small yet worried smile before we walk to my trailer.

I sit down on my couch as she stands infront of me. Uh oh, it's either a lecture or she's going to pester me to do something.

Last time she stood infront of me it was because I needed braces.

"With all of this filming and press stuff, you've been really behind in schooling." she begins.

"And since I'm not here to be ontop of your education... it's either you're off the show or you go to public school." she finishes, my jaw drops.

"What!? You can't take me off the show I have a character to portray!" I stand

"Not true. Education comes first Alice." she crosses her arms.

I can't imagine not being on the walking dead. I've met such amazing people and I love working here!

So I've arranged for you to go to school with Chandler.

"I talked to his mom and she said he could show you around, and try to get you in every class as him."

She tries to calm me.

I sit back on the couch with a slump and sigh loudly

She waits for a reply.

"Whatever." I roll my eyes.

"I will be staying down here for a week, we will go to his school tomorrow and we will register you." she states.

"But tonight, we are shopping. We need to catch up and you need school supplies." she adds, I continue to just listen

"Okay.." I whisper

Suddenly the door opens and Emily tells me to come to set.

"Bye mom." I say

"Bye sweetie." she stays in my trailer

I walk to set and find the tank closer, they must've just filmed it crash the first fence.

We get our orders and stand at our places. I get to look at the script real quick, and get handed my gun.

-suddenly the first fence crashes to the ground as the large tank rolls over it.

The second comes down and it rolls across the field..

I look at it in disbelief.

"Everybody get down!" Andrew yells as they fire the first shot.

We all dive to the ground.

The governor and his people are now on our land, shooting at us for the prison.

"Beth get everyone on the bus!" Daryl yells, she nods before running into building C

"Daryl watch out!" I yell as a walker walks beside him.

He stabs it in the head before ducking behind his new 'barrier'.

Beth runs out with Judith and the other kids and gets them all onto the bus.

"Elizabeth lets go!" she yells to me before the second tanks shot is sent and the ground shakes causing everyone to fall.

I look to Beth; standing up, and I run away from her.

I can't leave Carl here.

I run into the building.

"Cut!" I hear and all the commotion stops, everyone sighs loudly and groans. We take 5.

I take a sip of water and stand next to Chandler.

"Guess I'm going to highschool with you." I say taking another drink.

"Really? When?" he smiles.

"Day after tomorrow. I have to film tomorrow and the rest of the week I'm going to school!" I grin, the end of the week/ last day of filming we have a going away, small, cast and crew party until the season premiers in a few months

"That's awesome! You'll love it there." he assures me before walking back to the set.

More positions, more directions, and more orders.. We start to take action

A walker comes staggering near Chandler as he shoots at random people.

"Chandler!" I point behind him

he looks at me and begins to laugh.

I realize what I did and give a nervous smile before looking at the crew.

"Cut!" the director yells. Everyone is sorta confused except for the crew, Chandler, the zombie extra and I.

We redo the scene.

An hour later I change back into my clothes and meet my mom at her car.

We drive right to the mall.

"So how've ya been?" she asks breaking the silence

"Good." Is all I reply with. A few more minutes pass until we pull into the parking lot.

"Okay, I have a few places to go into so do you wanna just split up?" she asks

"Sure.." I shrug

"Okay, do you need any money?" she asks pulling out her wallet.

I give her a look

"Mom, I get more money then any ordinary family in one week then they do in an entire month. Do YOU need any money." I repeat her question.

She laughs and walks away. I give a playfully eye roll before walking into forever 21.

I buy denim overall shorts and some other clothes.

I take a walk into Claire's and buy a Faux leather backpack with floral detail.

I decide to go into staples for some school supplies

The basics- Pens, pencils, erasers, sharpener, highlighters, glue etc.

I also get some folders, spiral notebooks, loose leaf paper, clear slips and a pencil case

I get a 2 inch binder and end up walking to the photo store to get some pictures off my phone printed out to put on the front of my binder.

I go to a few more stores and buy some more clothes before meeting my mom at a Chinese restaurant.

"Wow. Lots of bags!" she says looking at my bags. I sit beside her at the sushi bar as the waitress brings out our drinks, my mom must've ordered my drink for me.

"Are you ready to order?" the lay asks

"Yeah I'll have the California roll with a side of Mushroom soup." I say

"I'll have the Philadelphia roll and miso soup please." my mom hands her our menus as the lady rights down our food and walks away.

"So how's life?" my mother asks stirring her straw around in her water.

"Be alittle more specific." I laugh

"Okay, Any boys?" she asks, obviously hinting towards Chandler, he is the only boy I see *little does she know*

"Chandler has a girlfriend.." I look at her

"What?" her eyebrows come together in confusion

"Her name is Rachel... I've had my differences with her." I try not to act like we are enemies

"Alice... you didn't." she drops her arms from her straw and looks at me saddened

"She insulted my family so I punched her." I throw my hands up slightly

"Ohh sweetie, violence isn't the answer!" she begins

"I know! It was my instinct! It happened in a split second.." I interrupt.

"But I did- oh no!" I suddenly stop

I forgot about my date with Noah tonight. It's almost 5:30.

"What is it?" she asks,

"I'll be back." I stand up and run outside, whipping my phone out and calling Noah

"Hello?"

"Noah! Thank god you answered, listen my mom came to town and surprised me today, I was so shocked that I forgot about our date! I'm so sorry I-"

"Don't worry about it, I understand.. Really!" I can hear in the way he's talking he means what he says

"Oh good, how far are you from the Chinese restaurant at the mall?" I ask

"Not far, about 2 minutes.." he replies

"Okay are you doing anything?"

"No I had a date with you remember?" he laughs,

"Oh, duh.. anyway do you wanna come over here and eat with us?" I offer

"Sure. Meeting your mom already?" he sounds shaken.

Don't worry. I won't tell her about us.. we aren't even official yet." I laugh alittle

We say goodbye and I walk back to my mom

"Hey mom, I forgot I had plans with a friend so do you mind if they come meet us here?" I sit down

She says okay and we wait for our food... I hope my mom likes him.
