Chapter 23
22:14, 3 August 2017"He did what?" Barry practically shouted. "I think he got me fired," I muttered. I couldn't believe that Grayson would do something like that to me, he was my best friend. "Do you want me to talk to him?" Barry asked me. "It'll make it worse," I whispered. "How can it get worse? You lost your job because he failed to get in your pants." Barry was really pissed, but it wouldn't help if Barry talked to Grayson. "Can you just hold me?" I asked him softly. His shoulders lowered and he didn't look that furious anymore. He sat down beside me and put his arm around me. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment. "Am I getting another chance?" He suddenly asked. "What?" I frowned. "You decided you wanted to move on. But I never wanted anyone else, just you. You let me stay over and I get it if it didn't mean anything for you, but it meant everything to me. I love you, I always will." His eyes looked so intense and I couldn't find the words I wanted to say. "I don't know," I whispered. "Why not?" He almost seemed desperate. "Because I could lose you anytime." I felt my eyes water, but I wouldn't cry right now. "I promise you, I won't let that happen." He softly pressed his lips on mine, like I had done yesterday. But this time it felt like a promise, we would be there for each other. "Do you want to move in with me?" I asked bluntly. "Are you sure you want that?" He looked at me doubtfully. I wasted a year where we could have been together, I didn't want to waste another moment. We were destined together and I wasn't planning on messing up again. Nothing could keep us apart anymore. "The most sure I've ever been in my life." I saw his eyes light up. He kissed me again. I walked to the kitchen to the drawer where I kept my spare keys. It wasn't hard to find the one of the front door. I walked back to Barry and handed him the key. "Are you really sure?" He ask me again. I nodded and kissed him again. "I love you so much, Audrey Genevieve Raymond." It sounded so soft, like it was just the wind and I was imagining his words. I snuggled closer to him and we sat like that for quite a while before I heard his phone. "Do you have to go?" I muttered, knowing who was the one calling. "I'm sorry." He said, pressing a kiss on my forehead. "See it positively, when you are lying in your bed tonight, I will come home. I'll kiss you goodnight, take a quick shower and will hold you the whole night after that." It did sound nice to hear him call it home already. He stood up, kissed me again and ran away inhumanly fast. I felt a breeze and heard a soft "I love you." And I knew it wasn't the wind, or that I had imagined it. It was Barry.
