Chapter 2
20:14, 4 June 2019You wake up by the sound of a closing door. You look at your phone and see it's four am. Shit, you think, he's back. You look at your door where screws and metal lay around the floor. He broke your lock! Panic fills your head and you try to find a place to hide. The lack of furniture in the room, however, leaves no suitable options to hid. You let yourself fall onto the bed, afraid of what is about to happen. You close your eyes and hope it will be fast.
"Lilly!" you hear him yelling. A tear rolls down your cheek. "LILLY!" he yells louder with a slight slur in his speech. Breathing gets harder. You hear glass breaking. "Shit! Where is that bitch!" you hear him say. A drawer from the kitchen is violently opened. No, you think as you realise that he is looking for a knife. No, please not again.
Loud foot steps come near the stairs. "Lilly!" he yells. You don't know if you should answer but when you try to say something nothing comes out. Again you hear loud steps. You look at the photo of your father standing on your nightstand. "Please," you whisper, "please daddy help me."
A loud bang and a scream come from downstairs. You want to know what happened, but you still don't dare to move. It's quiet in the house. After a while you finally have build the courage to check the situation.
Slowly you walk down the stairs. With each step the smell of alcohol gets stronger. When you're at the last step, you see his body lying on the floor. He's not dead, that's for damn sure. He breathes heavily. You see the broken bottle by his foot. Must've slipped. Then your eyes go to his hands. In his right hand he's holding a knife and in the other he's holding something shiny. You squeeze your eyes to see what he is holding.
A weird feeling runs through your body. But those are.... They are.... The keys! Slowly you walk down the last step and gently grab the keys out of his hand. You look at them in your hands in disbelief. You've never been so close to freedom.
You quickly run up the stairs to grab some stuff. You grab your backpack and stuff some clothes in it. You scan your room for some other important things. You look under your bed where your books lay hidden and grab as many as you can carry.
You walk down the stairs to the front door. You place the key in the lock but hesitate. Maybe you shouldn't go, he'll find you anyway. Maybe if you go, you'll only make things worse. You don't even know where to go! The moaning snaps you out of your thoughts. He's waking up!
"Lilly..." he mumbles. The decision was quickly made and you turn the key in the lock. "Wait, wh... Lilly?" You open the door and run away. You run down the street, and keep running. Away from what you had to call home. Away from him. You're a few blocks away when you bump into someone.
You fall down on your injured arm. "Oh my! I'm so sorry!" a male voice says. Your arm starts bleeding again and you press your hand on the wound. You look at your books and see someone is picking them up.
"Let me help you," the voice says and reaches out his hand. The stranger helps you stand up and hands you your books. "Are you alright?" he asks. You look at the ground and nod. You're head hurts and black spots block your view. "Are you sure?" he asks again. "Ye..... yeah," you say with a shaky voice. The headache gets worse and you fall through your legs. The boy catches you. You're gonna pass out, you know you're gonna pass out. "Don't ..... don't call an ambulance," you say and look at the boy. His face looks familiar. You try to remember where you've seen him, but then everything goes black.
