Ch. 46, Glass Dome

= THE GROUP, led by Madison and Alan, enters a structure with giant windows designed to look into the canyon beyond but the downfall is, majority of it is unable to be seen by their eyes as it's covered by a thick fog.

Toward the center of the room, they could see, a spiral staircase that leads to a lower level and with Billy lagging behind, Alan Grant approaches the stairs cautiously and peers down the circular opening in the floor. It was just fog.

Step by step, Alan leads the group down a rusty spiral staircase below the observation room. The stairs end in a lower level.

Although they are technically outside, this whole place feels strangely enclosed for Madison. Her scowling as she tugs her jacket closer to her body.

There's a thick fog at this level, clouds spreading to every inch, but far below if you ever check could find the river. And at its banks, a barge.

"We climb down to the barge and follow the river out to the ocean." Alan informs and explains to the group, looking back to them. Sighing when he see's Madison peer over to look further and grabs her bag, pulling her back and slips his hand over hers. "With any luck, the Costa Rican coast guard will pick us up."

"Then we go home?" Eric asks.

His mother nods in an attempt to comfort the kid. "Then we go home."

"Then you go home, I ain't." Madison retorts, furrowing her eyebrows at her friend who squeezes her hand in his. Renee roars loudly while the sound of something crashing is heard.

Turning, Madison widens her eyes at the sight of Renee holding Bumble in the jaw as the cloudy leopard struggle to get back up.

"Bumble!" Madison tears her hand from Alan's hand, shoving past Billy roughly, pushing him into the fence at the side when he tries to grab hold of her.

Joining by Renee's side, Madison grabs hold of Bumbles paws and pulled the animal up. Grunting when she felt the cloudy leopard slip from her hands. "No!" She screams, when the paw slipped out of her hands.

Before Bumble could fall however, a set of firm jaws lands on Bumbles back. Pulling them up to a different level of stairs.

"Bumble..." Madison whispers, peering down, having not seen it. Eyes widening with a smile when she sees a familiar Jaguar. "Ez-"

Madison stops herself from shouting as she see's a figure in a cloud of smoke not so far away. "Shit." She whispers, shooting to her feet while grabbing a large pole. Turning to Renee.

"Go, I'll see you later." Madison tells the tiger-like Smilodon. Scratching the underpart of their chin.

Renee shakes their head. Not wanting to leave the girl until the girl swings the metal pole at something flying past.

Roaring aloud, Renee attacks and swipes their claws at the beast. Ushering forward, Madison encourages Renee to run to where the others were.

Renee's roar was loud and abrupt as one flew down and attacked Madison on the back, tearing through her clothes with their claws.

The animal lifts Madison up and then roughly slams the girl into the ground, tossing her next into the wall. While they perched on the side, roaring maliciously.

"ERIC!" Amanda's voice reaches her ears, making the girl see a pteranodon fly past with a young boy in their claws. Just as Amanda and the rest began sprinting back this way.

The animal before her, raises its wings. Leg stretched out in attempts to grab the girl until she snapped her attention onto the animal.

White eyes enlarge as her body began mutating. Dark smoke leaving from her body, grabbing the birds now open beaks. The girl began tearing it apart.

"You, you know what you can do right?" Madison speaks, quite rushed as she stares manically at the bird while she continues to mutate. It was not a fond sight, truth be told. It was quite gruesome at the sight of her body twisting and turning.

"You, my friend, can go fuck your self."

Madison laughs. Kicking the aviary backwards and slashing their wings. Her body standing on two feet, watching as the bird crashes through the fence and leaves Madison to grip the flooring and begin moving to do her best and get Eric.

Finding the others on the other side of the canyon, Madison digs her claws onto the roof of the path. Pulling herself up and then sprinting across it, Renee following underneath her with various roars.

"MADISON!" Eric's voice was clear and easy to hear as his eyes makes out the figure of a medium sized creature charging straight at them. Squirming in the birds hold.

Latching her white eyes onto the bird, Madison reaches the end of the rooftop path and jumps off. Arms stretched out and the claws digs into the back of the pteranodon's body. Tail slivers around Eric's waist as they encase the birds back of the head into their mouth.

Hearing the bird squeal in agony, blood sprays everywhere until Madison has her back slammed into a wall. Dropping both her and Eric onto a stone podium.

"Are you okay Eric?" Madison speaks, surprising herself as she spoke with her dinosaur jaw. Shaking it off.

"Y-Yea I'm fine." Eric nods. Wincing from his wrist, Madison looks down to see a bruise forming.

"You might have broken your wrist." Madison informs him before she wraps her tail around him. "Hold my tail, it'll keep you close."

Eric nods, moving to grab onto her tail with his non-hurting hand. Looking around to see a bunch of other podiums nearby. Then they find a nest of multiple tiny pteranodons, all calling out for their... mother.

Just then, another big Pteranodon swoops down and claws at Madison. The girl ducks and then swipes at the beast, letting out a roar. That is until they are shoved to the ground and rolled to the edge. Eric being dropped roughly, having nearly fallen off a different podium.

"Eric jump!" The young boy looks up to find Billy gliding around with a parachute. He gets to his feet and began sprinting down the side, stopping when he saw Madison struggle with the pteranodon.

"Madison!" Eric yells.

"Go, get to Billy don't worry about me!" Madison shouts back, standing to her feet before the giant bird digs its claws into her back and begins dragging the mutant to the edge.

Eric jumps and grabs onto the boy in the parachute just as Madison is tumbled to the ground. Her claws latching onto the side with her back withering in pain.

Looking off to the side, she finds Billy pushing Eric off so that the younger boy could land in the water. The older one looks off to the mutant, just in time to find the pteranodon plunging their beak into her side. Igniting a roar of pain from Madison.

The roar ricochets through out the canyon and the beast turns. Back legs pressing against the wall before they pushed themselves off, jaw wide open as they reach the pterodactyl.

"DIE MOTHERFUCKER!" Madison screams, locking her jaw around the top of their head while their beak remains in her side painfully.

After a few pulls and with the pair being slammed painfully into the sides of the canyon, the mutant successfully decapitates the aviary. Tossing the head to the side where she leaps off to and digs her claws into the sides.

Heaving heavily, the girl just wanted to be in the comforts of her home. Finally realising how much she's missed the place she once hated.

Two children, both snuggling up to a man with shabby brown hair and bright brown eyes. His eyes set on something far.

"You do know, when we survive, we're going to need a party." His eyes moves to land on a young pink and purple headed girl with strange white eyes.

"A party saying 'we survived dinosaurs?' " the man chuckled, shaking his head at the girls suggestion.

"No, a party with the words 'we survived hell.'" Madison shakes her head and smiled widely at the male.

"Of course." He nods with a smile gracing his features.

She couldn't waste her time. Through the pain in her side, she jumps off the rock. Landing roughly into the water. The liquid splashing against her skin as she see's Billy being attacked by two other pteranodon.

"Billy-!" She calls, standing up on her back two legs and began walking over. The front legs moving to drag her along.

She was about to reach them when a pteranodon flies at her. "Shit."

Madison curses, ducking under the water and swimming her way over. Surprising this hybrid was a good swimmer.

But she was close to Billy when he was pulled roughly down stream and disappears before her eyes. Standing back up, Madison looks downstream in concern. "BILLY!" She yells.

Finding that he was gone, her body mutates back in a fit of smoke. Hand covering her wound on her sound. She didn't know where the rest were until she saw a human, two humans to be exact diving into the water and swim underneath a gap.

"Bingo." She whispers, Madison makes her way over and ducks underneath the water. Keeping a hand on her side she swam, merely missing a giant overgrown lizard trying to tackle her.

Getting out of the water, Madison grabs her coat that was soaked. Quickly rinsing it dry with a nearby rock and leaves. Using this coat to tie tightly around her waist, pressing up against her side where the wound remains, in attempt to keep pressure on the open wound.

"Madison!" She hears her name be called, followed by roars and the pink and purple haired girl slowly strides over. Body hunched with her breath uneven in exhaustion.

"I'm over here!" Madison calls out, making her presence known to the group. Smiling in relief at the sight of them all, well no Billy- he was gone.

"Madison..." Alan whispers. He and the group stands on top of a boat, all soaked with the three Smilodons all on the opposite side of the humans.

They watch as the girl makes ripples in the water with every step she takes. Upon reaching the boat, Madison is pulled on board with being tackled into a tight hug by Alan.

It's warm. Madison tiredly smiles, resting her cheek on his shoulder with her face in his neck. They both could feel each others heavy breathes and although it was awkward to the others, they wanted to stay like this for a moment.

Madison claws at his back while Alan runs his hand through her hair with another one rubbing circles on her side until she hissed. Confusing the man

"Madison." He whispers, flattening his palm against her side. Feeling her tense up in his arms.

"I'm fine, Alan." Madison responds. Just wanting to sleep while the Paleontologist lifts his hand, finding blood coating his fingers.

"You're injured." Alan pulls away, looking down at the girl who shakes her head.

"I'm fine." She grumbles. Resting her head against his shoulder.

"Come on." The Paleontologist turns to see Paul working on the motor while the boat slowly drifts across the water. Guiding Madison to the front of the boat, he allows her to sit down then goes beside her.

"Let me look Madison." He tells her.

"I told you, I'm fine." Madison slaps his hand away. Smiling when she see's her Smilodons. Ezra stumbles towards her.

"I thought you were shot." The girl whispers, taking the animals face in her dirtied and bloodied hands. Feeling the animal purr. Looking under at their chest, she just seems the skid mark over the animals fur that had given away. Dried blood picking apart at the wound.

Ezra mewls, moving out the way so that a bloodied Renee could nudge their head against her chest. Roaring softly. "I am okay Renee, trust me." She kisses the top of her head.

Madison could feel her jacket be peeled off, turning to find Alan checking the wound. "Alan like I sai-"

"Let me check it." Alan firmly tells her, sparing a girl a glance as she sighs. Nodding, giving him consent to check out the wound and so he rolls up her shirt. Finding it.

It was a straight hole from the front to the back. From his eyes, luckily it didn't seem to have pierced anything major. Only skimming a blood vessel and her small intestines but overall, the major problem was blood loss and the risk of infections.

"Bumble, do you have her bag?" Madison watches the man, he asks Bumble for something and the Smilodon turns to show them her pack tied around their body. The man shuffles through until landing with the first aid kit.

The kit was running thin and so he had a limited amount of strategies to do so. Cleaning the wound, Madison was tempted to hit the man numerous times but stopped when Renee, Ezra and Bumble roared at her.

"Be light on your movements Maddy." Alan tells her after wrapping the bandage that was quite soaked around her stomach. Tying it off with a clip he found in the girls back, pulling over her shirt.

"Thank you, for that." Madison thanks the man, hugging him afterwards. He accepts the hug and the pair stays silent as they embraced one another.
