Eye and Mountain
00:57, 4 March 2015"Ryanne!!"
I swiveled around as I heard my name shouted.
"Get down!"
It was Legolas, who was staring up into the sky, warning me of impending danger. Without hesitation, I dropped to the ground in a crouch.
From the ground I looked up, still trying to ward off blows from the Orcs, and almost screamed out loud.
In the sky, were multiple Nazgûl, swooping down and picking up our men, throwing them into the sky.
One had flown down right above me, causing Legolas to react. I nocked an arrow to my bow, and aimed it at the Ring Wraith on the Nazgûl.
Quickly letting go of the bowstring, my arrow shot into the sky and hit the rider in the neck, causing him to fall to his death. I rose from my crouching position and immediately had to pull out more arrows and shoot the enemies around me.
Then my name was being called again, in a more desperate manner. But this time it was Legolas and Aragorn.
"RYANNE!!"
My heart sped up a hundred paces all at once, the I felt something at my back, knocking my quiver off and lifted me into the air. Instantly, I knew what it was and I opened my mouth in a scream.
It was the first terror-filled scream I had produced in a long time, and I almost didn't know it was me. My scream was blood curdling and I truly sounded scared.
"LEGOLAS!!!"I called to him, hoping he could help kill the flying beast that still held me. But we were soon out of range, and nothing could be done.
Turning on my back in the claws, I drew a sword of mine and slashed at the leg that was closest to me. The beast screamed and clenched my body tighter in it's claws and still flew higher.
I wasn't yet a hundred feet off the ground, but I was growing on it. I forced myself not to look down and I swung again at the leg holding me.
Then suddenly, the Nazgûl swooped down again, making me scream again, feeling my stomach drop. But before it hit the ground, it pulled up again and started rising into the air.
Having no idea what it just did, I guessed it had killed more of our men while still holding on to me.But it flew higher into the air and all I could do was pray it didn't drop me.
"Ryanne, hold on!"It was Gandalf, his old voice perceptible to my Elven ears, but not to the Nazgûl's.
Looking down, my stomach dropped again, but I saw the Wizard whispering to a butterfly perched on the end of his staff. I had no guess as to what that could mean, but I didn't worry.
But still the Nazgûl rose, and this time it flew across the sky, towards the Mountain. My breath caught in my throat, and I tried to move around in the claws holding me.
When the claws didn't release, I swung my sword and it came in contact with the beast's leg, making it cry out and turn back to the battle. The claws around me opened, and before I hit open air, I managed to grab a talon on its foot and hang on.
The Nazgûl dove for the ground again, trying to rid me off of it. I bit back a scream and reached my arm back to put my sword behind my quiver so I could reach my second arm up to hold the talon.
But before the Nazgûl could hit the ground or pull up, a large mass hit it in the side. The beast roared, and flew out of my grasp. I was flung high into the air and my hair was blown around my face.
On the way down, I did scream this time, loud and terrified. Then, I stopped falling. I had hit a large, feathery back of an animal and I looked to see what had caught me.
An Eagle. I smiled.
"The Eagles!" I heard Pippin shout below me. "The Eagles are here, look Ryanne's alright!" I heard him and Merry cheer.
After looking around, I noticed four or five other Eagles that must have come when Gandalf called them with the butterfly. The others were fighting off the remaining Nazgûls and they were holding ground.
I did my best to push mine in the direction of the Nazgûl that had grabbed me off the ground before. The Eagle went as directed and with a loud caw, it alerted the enemy.
The Nazgûl shrieked and started towards us, reaching us quickly. I was slightly aware of others on the ground still fighting the bloody battle, but I did my best to stay focused.
When the Nazgûl reached us, I drew an arrow to my bow and fired it, hitting it in the side. It screamed again, but still hovered around. Again, I fired at it, but again it didn't fall. It was constantly moving, and I never had a clear shot of its neck to kill it.
As I nocked my third arrow, a sound from below sounded, distracting me. Looking down, my eyes widened with surprise. It was the roar of a Troll, well over ten feet tall and it was advancing on Aragorn.
"Aragorn!" I called to him, but I was too far up in the air for him to hear me. But it seemed as if he had already noticed the Troll. He drew his sword and faced it. The rest was cut off, when the Eagle I was on jerked sharply down and to the left.
The Nazgûl had rushed at us, and the Eagle had saved my neck. Growing frustrated, I put my bow away and drew both my swords. I pushed the Eagle towards the Nazgûl, faster and faster. The beast's back was to us, it hadn't turned around again yet.
As soon as I was in range, I didn't stop to think twice about it, there was no time to change my mind. I pulled myself up standing on the Eagle and jumped.
I landed on the Nazgûl, stabbing both my blades into it's neck. All the others had been killed off by the Eagles or the men on the ground. And now this one was dead as well.
The Nazgûl flapped it's wings frantically, trying to stay aloft.
Then, to my direct right, I heard a crumbling sort of cracking sound. Turning, I saw Sauron. The Eye was staring right at the Mountain, and I felt my heart jump.
Had Frodo and Sam made it out of the Mountain in time? Then Sauron began to fall, the tower the Eye was on crumbling and giving way.
And just as a piece of stone was about to fall into us, the Nazgûl I was on dropped like a stone, dead. I heard a cry and realized my Eagle had been hit with the stone, and I realized there was nothing to stop my fall to the ground.
As I plummeted downwards, I closed my eyes as held on to the dead Nazgûl, still on it's back. As we built up speed, I felt my legs lift up behind me and I was airborne, my hair flying around me.
Then the impact came.
The Nazgûl hit the ground first, breaking it a little, but I still hit hard. I didn't die, was my first thought. But I didn't have room for many other thoughts, only that I heard the soft sounds of people calling my name, and I slipped into darkness.

I was shook to consciousness only seconds after, and I was aware of the fact someone was holding me in those arms. Legolas. I smiled and opened my eyes at him. I saw his face, worried and stressed, respond quickly. He smiled as well and hugged me close.
I hugged him back, breathing in his scent of leather and blood. "You are alright!" He whispered to me. "Yes, yes I'm alright."
He pulled away, still holding me. "When I saw the Nazgûl take you, I was worried, I didn't know what it would do-" I cut him off before he got too far. "I'm alright!"
I smiled at him, glad to be back on the ground. "I just really, really hate heights."He laughed and hugged me again, kissing me quickly.
Aragorn's footsteps sounded on the broken stone and rubble in front of us, and I sat up slowly. He smiled when he saw me, and I returned it.
"That was quite a fall you had there."I nodded. "The only reason I am alive is the Nazgûl." I said, motioning to it's dead body next to me. "Never thought I would ever say that."
Aragorn laughed softly. Then something struck me as odd.
"Aragorn, where are they Orcs?"In response, he turned and pointed behind him.
Behind him was a giant hole in the ground, as if it had collapsed in on itself. Inside, were bodies and bodies of horses, men and Orcs. I frowned. "So, they are dead?"He nodded once. "All of them?"He nodded again. I paused, not knowing what to believe. They were all gone?
I looked back at him and Legolas, who was now standing next to him. "All of them?"I whispered.
Both of them smiled. "The Orcs are not our worry anymore, Ryanne." Aragorn explained. "It is our Hobbits that our worry lies."
Looking up at the mountain, I slowly stood to my feet, noticing my lack of swords, quiver or bow. There was lava and fire running down the sides of it, covering the sides in red.
My eyes widened. It was impossible for them to have made it out alive. But oddly enough, no tears stung my eyes.
I turned back to the Ranger and Elf. "How will we find them?" I asked, horrified at what I had seen.
Aragorn looked at the mountain as well. "Gandalf has gone on Eagle-back to find them. He claims they are still alive."I felt relief flood through my chest. If Gandalf said they were alive, alive they were!
Suddenly, I felt two masses thump into my legs and hug me. I looked down to find two Hobbits holding my legs.
"Merry!" I exclaimed. "Pippin!""Ryanne!" They said back together. I knelt down and hugged them to me. Thank the Heavens they were alright!
"You're not dead!" Pippin said to me. "No Pippin, I am not!" Merry laughed. "Of course your not! You're an Elf!"I laughed along with Pippin at his remark.
"We will see Frodo and Sam soon, right?" Pippin asked me. I nodded.
"Yes, Gandalf will take them both back to Gondor, where Aragorn will be crowned King!"
I stood up and looked at the Ranger.
"The rightful King of Gondor."
