Ch. 1

This chapter kinda sucks, but I promise they'll get better

Katie's pov

    "Travis, Conner, STOP." I said menacingly. I may or may not have been hiding a silencing potion from one of the new hecate campers. They technically aren't supposed to give out potions and I really didn't want to lose it. Travis and Conner had unfortunately seen the mysterious bottle and were currently trying to steal it from me.

         Why I even had that potion you might ask, is because Percy has been talking non-stop for the past two months about the baby his mom is expecting and it is getting extremely annoying.

        Even though the potion only lasts a day, any time we get with him not rambling on about what pajamas he's going to get the baby will be worth it.

    "Leave me alone!" I growled at the brothers as they continued their endless tormenting.

     "Only if you tell us what you're hiding!" They whined in protest as they made another grab for the potion in my pocket, but this time, to my dismay, they were successfully.

      "Oh my" Conner said in mock disbelief, "did katie steal a potion?"

   "Shhhh" I hissed  "Give it back!" They shared an equally evil look. "Only if you tell us what it is." Conner smirked. "You know," Travis said, "its against camp regulations to use potions without consent from one of the camp directors"

         "You don't want to get in trouble do you???" Travis asked mischievously. I swear they had an evil glint in their eyes.

   The only thoughts that filled my head were, nope. No no NO! This was not happening! I need to shut Percy up!

     I didn't think I could handle his constant jabbering and the dish washing duty I would undoubtedly earn if Conner and Travis turned me in.

     "Fine, I tell you." I said quickly. Conner and Travis shared a smirk. "But You cant tell anyone!" I hissed fiercely. Conner put his hand on his heart in mock hurt. "my dearest Katie, we would never betray you" he said with a look of pain on his face. "Yeah, sure." I muttered.

      "Okay guys come over here," I said, pulling them behind a cabin. "Okay, so you know how Percy has been talking non-stop about the baby his mom is having for the past two months?" Travis rolled his eyes. "How could we not?" He said grimacing. "I don't know how many times hes told me the due date, it has to be at least a hundred." "Exactly!" I exclaimed. "That is why I got one of the younger, newer, hecate campers to smuggle me a silencing potion."

        Travis and Conner both stared at me open mouthed in surprise. "I could kiss you right now" Travis said, still starring at me in disbelief. I felt my face turn red. "That is the most genius idea I have ever heard and I have had some pretty great ideas." He said.

      Conner nodded in agreement. " so when do we give it to him?" He asked. "What do you mean we?" I questioned. "You are not leaving us out if this!" Travis protested. "I'm pretty sure the whole camp would want to help you if we told them about this!"

      He was probably right, but that didn't mean I was going to let them join. "No." I said sternly. "The more people we have, the easier it will be for Mr. D or Chiron to catch us!"

      "But Katie," Conner whined, "we are really good at sneaking things! Plus you'll need more then one person to distract Percy and put the potion in his drink." They had a point. It would make things a lot easier if we had a certain two brothers distracting anybody from seeing me sliping the potion into his drink.

     "Fine." I decided, "but You owe me some Oreos the next time you raid a gas station." "Deal." Conner and travis said in sink as Conner stuck out his hand for me to shake. I took it, almost regretting the decision I just made, but knowing it was the only way to accomplish my goal.

      I did need their help if I was going to pull this off, and I would pull it off, if it was the last thing I'd do.

     Okay, that was a little dramatic, but you get the point.

Travis's pov

     "ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY?!" Katie screamed at me and Conner as we told her we wouldn't help unless we also used the potion on Nico and Jason, Percy's best friends beside Annabeth. (we're to scarred to give the potion too her, she would kill us). "ONE CHILD OF THE BIG THREE IS BAD ENOUGH, BUT TWO OTHERS?! THEY WOULD CRUSH US!" Oh. I guess we had forgot that they all were super powerful.

     Me and Conner shared a look. No, we weren't going to back down, even if we were brutally murdered. The looks on their faces (especially Percy's) would be worth it.

     "We're not changing our minds." I said as Conner nodded beside me. " We either give the silencing potion to all three of them or we won't help you" he said. "UGH!" She screamed. "FINE! Have it your way you toe smothered, burnt toast, pile of-"

     "Whoa, whoa, whoa," I said interrupting her, "let's not get angry, take a deep breath, in... Out.... In..... Out..." "Shut UP!" She yelled and stomped away. Me and Conner snickered, did our secret handshake that no one knows about (that would be embarrassing) and walked off to the dinning pavilion. Our plan was about to begin.

Annabeth's pov

    Something was off. You know those days that feel too perfect to last? Well, this was one of them and I had a feeling the good part was coming to an end fast. It was like just before the storm, when everything is calm, too calm.

    As Percy was rambling on and on about weather his soon to be sibling was going to be a girl or a boy I was looking out for trouble.

     I scanned all of the table's looking for something that was out of place, but the only thing I noticed was a disgruntled looking Katie and smug looking pair of devilish twins. They must have pulled a prank on her and she was not happy about it.

     As the meal progressed my sence of foreboding increased quickly. Soon enough, Travis and Conner came over to the Poseidon table that me and Percy were sitting at. This normally is a regular occurrence but today it felt different.

     It may have been the pair's identical smirks or the way they strutted over to the table as if they owned the world, but whatever it was, it made me even more suspicious.

      "Hey guys" Percy said waving to the approaching visitors. Apparently he didn't have the same apprehensive feeling I did because he waved at them like it was any regular day and started rambling on about baby socks.

      I can understand his excitement at having a new sibling, especially when his moms due-date was getting closer and closer, but he had been going on and on about his moms pregnancy for forever and it was starting to get on everyone's nerves.

      Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to put a stop to his constant trailing.

      Eventually, after another fifteen minutes of Percy talking ab- you know what, you already know what hes talking about so im not even going to put some kind of description in there.

     Anyway, Conner and Travis eventually said they had something to show Percy and they ended up dragging Jason and Nico along with them.

      Soon enough Katie, seeing that I was now left alone, came over to sit by me. We chatted for a while but the uneasy feeling only grew, so I decided to do something about it.

      "Hey Katie, I'm going to go check on Percy and the boys real quick, do you think you can watch our food?" I asked her as quickly as I could, standing up from the table.

     "Sure" she replied not meeting my eyes, "take all the time you need." "Thanks!" I said, running off. "I owe you!" Katie looked down and muttered something that I didn't hear because I was too busy jogging away to find Percy.

      Little did I know that she would end up being the one that owed me a favor.

Katie's pov

     I didn't meet Annabeth's eyes as she stood up to search for her boyfriend. I know it was for a good cause, but i couldn't help but feel bad about it.

     As soon as she left I slipped the bottle out of my pocket and uncapped it. Luckily, there was more then one dose in the bottle so I could give the potion to Nico and Jason as well as Percy.

     I could just not give Jason and Nico the potion, but then I would be lying again and I really didn't want to end up with other people mad at me too. Having just Annabeth mad at me might be too much to handle.

      I hid the now half-empty bottle in my pocket and soon enough I saw the boys walking back to the table. Annabeth still was nowhere in sight, but I was sure that she would turn up soon, still searching for Percy.

     The plan was for Conner and Travis to have Percy and his friends run around with them so that they would eventually get tiered and need to get a drink, and sure enough, as soon as they sat down, all if them started taking large gulps from their cups.

     They set them down, having drained their whole goblets, but they didn't act like anything was different. I supposed that the potion wouldn't feel any different to them, they just wouldn't be able to talk.

     That is why I was so surprised when Percy opened his mouth and said, "that was fun, Conner, Travis. We should hang out more."

   We all stared at Percy open mouthed, surprised that the potion hadn't worked. Usually the Hecate campers potions are pretty reliable.

    "What's wrong?" Percy asked concerned. "Is there something on my face?" He asked reaching up to wipe away some imaginary substance.

   "Uuuhhh" I said, stalling for time, "it's not that, you guys just drank those drinks really fast." I explained. "Oh, that makes sence." He said, "I should probably go find Annabeth, see you!" He stood up from the table with Nico and Jason following behind him. Nico kept shooting suspicious looks at us over his shoulder as the group trodded away.

   That was when I realized something. Conner and Travis hadn't said a word. Did the potion somehow get mixed up? It felt like the world was collapsing.

     I was falling into a giant pit of despair and I did not want to come out. Not if I was coming out to a world that Percy was in. Not if I was coming out to a world where Percy could talk.

     Yes, I know that that is extremely overdramatic, but those were my thoughts as I felt consciousness slip away, as my mind fell into an endless sleep, as I-

   You know what, never mind. I didn't pass out, I just wanted to.
