The sleepover had ended, and Glisten sat alone in his room.
Alone.
He hated being alone, it made him feel like he wasn't as eye-catching as he thought. And the fact that nobody was with him, nobody to talk to, made it all so much worse.
Glisten groaned as he picked up a small music box, so small it fit in his hand, about the size of a rubix cube.Glisten pinched the handle and twisted it repetitively, letting go once he felt the pressure of the mainspring holding back the handle.
He listened to the sweet tune, as he watch the small ballerina inside the jewelry music box spin, like she had all the energy and balance in the world.Glisten sighed when the song ended and the dancer came to a slow stop.
He closed the box and admired the exterior. The sharp edges, decked with gold details and a pink flower drawn in the middle of each side. The shape...The shape of the box made him feel less alone.Glisten squinted at the cube as he turned it in his hands.
Jewelry box.Box...Boxten!
He shot up from his bed and grabbed the telephone that rested on the nightstand beside where he laid.
Oh shoot..What was Boxten's number?
Every toon had a telephone like this in their room, but Glisten hadn't took the time to figure out everybody's numbers.
"Damn it!"He whined as he forced himself to get out of bed and walk up to a desk he converted into a vanity.
He opened the largest drawer and began rummaging helplessly, searching for something.
After about a minute of searching he found a small phone book.
"Who even uses phone books anymore?"He mumbled to nobody in particular as he flipped through pages.
"hmm.... ... B's... uhheerhhhh.. Ahah! Boxten!"He swung his arms back and leapt back onto his bed, running a finger over the number listed next to Boxten's name as he dialed the number onto the telephone.
The phone began to ring and Glisten held it up to his ear, laying on his stomach, his feet resting mid air, swaying back and forth.
The phone rang..
and rang..
and rang some more....
Glisten became slightly annoyed and was about to put the phone down when he heard the crackle of the other line.
"Hello??"Boxten's voice had filled Glisten's ears with relief.
"Hey Boxy!"
"Oh hi Glisten! How are you?"
Glisten smiled and the two proceeded to talk for the next hour or so over the phone.
Suddenly Boxten asked a question. Not a totally insane question, but it felt that way to Glisten.
"You wanna come over to my room for a bit? I'm free for a while!"
Glisten dropped the phone, the cord still intertwined in his fingers from when he was twirling it around. There's no way that just happened.Glisten struggled to pick up the phone again.
"i- uh- Im busy! I also have to go bye!!!"Glisten quickly hung up the phone and slammed his face into the pillow in front of him.
He groaned and screamed angrily at himself.
"WHY DID I DOO THATTTTTT!?!?!??"He said muffled as he kicked his feet against the covers.
Boxten, on the other line, stared at his phone, confused and disappointed.
