Chapter 29

"Pax! Kace!" You shouted, they ran out of their room and up to you.

"Yes mommy?" Pax said looking up at you with wide eyes.

"Are you ready to go see daddy?"

They gave you wide smiles and jumped up and down. "Yes! Daddy daddy daddy!" They shouted almost simultaneously.

You smiled down at them,"Alright, go put your shoes on and we can go."

They nodded and ran back into their room.

You walked down the hall back to your bedroom to grab your bag.

"We're done mommy!" Kace shouted.

You walked back out into the hall and saw them excitedly jumping around.

It was always like this when you went to go see Pietro.

"Alright you two. Let's go. Remember to hold hands okay?" You opened the door and let them go first before you.

You locked the door behind you and shut it.

"Pax. Help your brother in his seat then get in yours okay?"

"Okay mommy." He said in a sweet voice.

You walked over to the house next door and knocked.

"Hi Liliana." The dark skinned lady greeted.

"Hey Abby. Um. You didn't happen to see anything out of the ordinary last night did you?"

She thought for a second and shook her head,"No. Why?"

You gave a fake smile and a shrug,"Just thought I heard something. Sorry to bother you."

She smiled genuinely,"You aren't bothering me. You have every right to be worried." She paused,"You guys off to see Pietro?"

You nodded,"It's been two weeks. The kids have been too busy with school and stuff."

"I hope you guys have fun, tell him I said hi."

You gave another nod,"Yeah definitely. See ya." You waved and walked back to the car.

Once you got in you looked back to make sure the kids were properly strapped in."You boys ready?"

"Yes." They answered with large smiles and you pulled off.

20 minutes later you were pulling up to Charles' mansion.

You parked the car and the boys got out and you walked to the door.

You rung the bell and patiently waited for the door to open.

"Uncle beast!" The boys shouted as the door opened.

You rolled your eyes, you insisted they call him uncle Hank but they wouldn't have it.

Hank bent down and scooped them up in his arms. "Hey kiddos!" He hugged them and looked at you,"Hey Liliana."

"Hey Hank." You smiled and he stepped to the side and let you in.

He placed the kids down and gave you an apologetic look.

You sighed,"Let me guess. Pietro isn't here." He shook his head."Sorry. He should be back soon though."

You rolled your eyes,"Thanks. Is Erik around?"

"Yeah, he's out back."

You walked through the kitchen to the backyard to find Erik.

"Hey you," you greeted as you approached.

He looked up from his solo chess game and smiled at you.

"Grandpa!" The boys shouted and jumped into Erik's lap.

"Look at you guys! Getting so big and strong!"

"Just like you grandpa," Pax added."Nooo I think you're stronger than me.""Nuh uh!" Kace said scrunching his nose.

You laughed and rolled your eyes,"Kids, go play in daddys room. You can play with grandpa later."They nodded and ran back into the house.Pietro always kept toys here for when the boys visited.

"Liliana." He stood up and hugged you. "How have you been?"

You shrugged,"being a single mother is harder than I thought."

He raised and eyebrow,"The boys giving you trouble?"

You shook your head,"I just never thought I'd have to do it alone."

He gave a weak smile,"You're strong, besides this won't be forever."

You tried to think positively,"You're right. I can do this."

"Damn right."

"So where is the son of a bitch?" You asked.

Erik shrugged,"Something about a warehouse on the other side of town."

You sighed." How is Charles?"

"He's alright. He's getting students for the new school year. He's excited about it like always."

You smiled,"That's great. How are you?"

"I'm good. Just getting old."

You rolled your eyes,"You? Old? Never!"

He laughed.

You and Erik sat and talked some more before the kids ran back out claiming they were hungry so you went back inside to cook them something before Pietro came back.

You were standing in the kitchen watching the kids eat when they hopped off of their chairs and ran.

"Daddy!" They shouted and took off down the hallways.

"Woah there! Who are these big men? Do I know you?" Pietro joked.

"Daddyyyy," Kace whined,"It's us!"

"Daddy we missed you so much."  Pax chimed in.

"I missed you guys more."

"Nuh uh!" They exclaimed.

"Yuh huh. To prove it," he fell silent for a second,"I got you guys these."

"Cool!" Pax yelled excitedly.

"Thank you daddy!" Kace added.

"You're welcome. Where's mommy?" Pietro asked.

"In the kitchen, she made us yummy food. But we eats it all." Pax said.

"Awww man!" Pietro added as you heard him walk closer.

He looked as handsome as ever show in his dimples when he saw you.

You walked over to him and squeezed him  tightly."I missed you so much." You said into his chest.

"I missed you too princess."

That was all you two could exchange before they kids dragged Pietro off to go play games.

You washed up the dishes before joining them upstairs.

Unfortunately it was Sunday and the boys had school in the morning so you couldn't stay as long as you wanted.

You watched them play around with each other until the boys slowly became tired.

"Boys, we need to go." You said in the middle of them playing with their new toy cars.

"But mommyy,"

"Not but mommy. It's late you guys have school tomorrow."

They groaned in unison.

"Can't they stay? They can miss a day of school."

"No Pietro, they can't. They've already missed too much. We can't keep doing this."

He stood up and walked over to you who was standing in the corner."But I've missed you so much. We didn't get any alone time."

You shrugged,"I'm sorry Pietro, maybe next week."

He ran his hand through his hair."How about I ask Erik to take the boys home and get them ready for school in the morning and we can have alone time?"

You smiled,"Okay."
