XIII: She was Perfect

Before the Calamity

Link's POV:

I was an idiot. This was stupid. I thought for a second that I was putting her in danger but I couldn't help myself. Something that felt so right... there was no way it could be wrong.

I wrapped my arms around her back and pulled her into my body. We were so close it felt like we were one. I held her so tightly, trying to pull her closer although we were completely pressed against each other.

Everything that was in my mind disappeared instantly. I kissed her passionately, opening my mouth only a few times to gasp for air. I couldn't be parted from her for long. Her lips were soft and fit perfectly in mine, the crevices in our mouths lining up as if they were made for each other.

I had kissed only one girl before. My childhood friend... it meant nothing. It was such a distant memory that I forgot what it was even like. Any thoughts or dreams I had of kissing and touching a real woman... it was nothing compared to this. Zelda made me feel like a man.

Her hands moved intentionally on my body. She grabbed my face, the rain making slight air pockets between her skin and mine. I gripped her waist harder, my hands squishing against her sopping wet clothes.

My God everything was good. Everything was right. It felt like my body was exploding with pure joy and pleasure- no thrill of defeating an enemy or killing a monster had anything on this. There was nothing in all of Hyrule that was like Zelda.

I pulled back slightly to look in her eyes. The intensity of our kiss evaporated everything in my head- even what she looked like. Zelda looked up at me, her eyes glistening and her perfect skin glowing in the rain. I smiled involuntarily- I was so drawn to her that I couldn't hold even the slightest bit of emotion in. 

I brushed a wet strand of hair from her eyes and grabbed her face. It was like we were magnets- I couldn't even look at her without needing to press my lips against hers. I brought her face to mine, moving us back against the canyon wall so I could be up against her.

You wouldn't know unless you could see her for yourself- Zelda was beautiful, unlike anything I had ever seen in my whole life. 

"Link," Zelda breathed between a kiss. She raised her leg slightly. I knew, she didn't need to say anything. I bent down to pick her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist. We stayed there, our bodies pressed together. I have no idea how long we were there, but time flew so fast with her it felt like only seconds.

I didn't want to think about it, but I knew I still had to protect her- I had to honor my loyalty to the king- but more importantly... to her. I knew we couldn't stay out here long or we could be in danger.

"Zelda," I gasped. She pulled away, looking down and breathing heavily. I placed her carefully back on the ground and caressed her back with my fingers, trying to warm her up to what I was about to say. 

"We... should leave soon. It is dangerous for both of us to be out here in the dark," I said softly. I moved my hand to her chin and tilted her head up. She gave me puppy eyes- I knew she wouldn't want to leave. I leaned down and kissed her softly. As I pulled away, she nodded and smiled submissively.

I grabbed her hand and tugged her gently to leave. She followed me reluctantly, but caught up fast to get under my arm. I pulled her up next to me and looked down to make sure she was okay.

"Don't ever leave me again," Zelda said softly as she looked up at me.

I laughed under my breath. I never thought I would hear her say that.

"I won't ever leave you again," I said, slightly sarcastically but still heart-felt.

"Promise?" She whispered as her eyes glistened.

"Promise," I said firmly.

I kissed her on the forehead and we ran back to the stable together. She laughed as we ran through the rain- I couldn't help but laugh too. She was perfect.
