Fifty two

05:37, 7 January 2017

Day before the move.

Harper and Scarlet decided to stay over at Riley's. Her dad was at a hotel and it was only her mom in the house. The girls were in Riley's room, with music, pizza, ice cream and face masks.

"No, I'm being serious! Spots covered my face" Scarlet told the girls. "She walked into school on the Monday, and she was still covered" Harper giggled. "It wasnt funny! That was her idea, oh get these face masks!" Scarlet threw a small cushion to Harper.

"I was thirteen! How was I supposed to know the difference!" She laughed. "Obvious! Dont use face masks out a basic child magazine for $2!" Scarlet told her giggling. "Oh hun, I could just imagine your little face" Riley laughed into herself, as she held a spoon.

"That's why I invest in decent ones now" Scarlet nodded. "Yeah, which snatches $50 from her account every couple weeks" Harper jokingly mocked. "Are you complaining? No. You'll have beautiful skin tomorrow, and you do because you use mine all the time" Scarlet told her wide eyed with a smile.

"Hm, what do I need to look nice for? I'm traveling all day tomorrow" Riley scoffed. "So are we!" Harper smiled. "We wish..." Scarlet sighed. "Suppose to make our friend feel better Scar..." Harper rolled her eyes. "No, I know. It's fine..." Riley half smiled.

The girls sat in silence for a moment.

"Okay! Moving on, how was your date with Mr Jones?" Scarlet smirked. "Oh gosh, it makes him sound wrong." Harper giggled. "Oi" Riley smiled "It was...really nice. Amazing actually." Riley nodded. "Spill" Scarlet smiled. "Where did you go?" Harper asked. "...The skate park" Riley smiled. "How romantic..." Harper looked at Scarlet, with a flat tone.

"No, we werent skating. It was around nine, ten when it was getting darker out. There was a blanket set out with candles, fake ones..." Riley laughed quietly. "We had food, and the view...oh my gosh it was beautiful. It had...my personality all over it" She nodded. "And obviously Levi's" Scarlet smirked. "Looks like you two are really a match" Harper winked, making Riley blush.

There was a faint knock at the door before it opened. Riley's mom popped her head in. "Hey girls, dont mind me just looking for something" She smiled. "Do you like Levi, Penny?" Harper then asked. Scarlet slapped her arm. "Like him?" Her mom asked. "Yeah, like approve. For your daughter" Harper giggled, as Penny smiled.

"What's going on?" She asked as she walked in. "Dont you know he took her on their first proper date last night?!" Harper giggled. "At the skate park!" Scarlet nodded. "With candles, blankets and food" Harper laughed. "Stop!" Riley laughed, covering her face now embarrassed. "I did know that, but not the details" Penny sat down on the bed, and looked down at the girls who were on the floor.

"He's a really nice boy. I've met him and spoke to him a couple of times" Penny nodded. "Boyfriend material?" Harper asked. "Shut up!" Riley whined quietly. "Yeah, as long as he treats Riley right" Penny grinned. "Guys please" Riley sighed. "They'd be a great couple" Scarlet giggled."

"Stop!" Riley told them more sternly, making everyone look at her. "I'm serious...please stop" She told them quietly. They frowned as they stared at her. "What's up?" Harper asked. "Yeah, we're just joking honey" Scarlet told her.

"Look...he hasnt asked me out officially. I'm leaving the guy tomorrow, that I seriously like. The only decent guy I've came across...." Riley told them quietly. "...We spoke about long distance last night, and I think thats why he hasnt asked. He's scared of it." She told them. "Yet he was offended when I spoke out us not...trying it" She sighed.

"Of course he was! Riley he really likes you! You really like him too" Harper told her. "I just feel...awful. I really do like him, but I'm leaving to travel more than 2,000 miles away from him" Riley shook her head. "What did you exactly say?" Harper then asked cautiously. "Dont worry...we didnt...break up, or whatever we would be" Riley told them.

"I just, dont want him to commit to a relationship when I'm not going to be there right beside him. I'm going to be miles away in another state!" Riley looked at them. "What did he say?" Scarlet asked. Riley smiled. "He wants too. He believes in us" She told him, and Penny smiled.

"He's really good material" Penny then smiled making Harper and Scarlet giggle. "It's weird because, when I was growing up we all have crushes right? I had many...and they fizzled out within a couple of weeks. Except..." She looked at her mom, and her mom knew she liked Andy back home.

"There was this one guy back home, that I liked. For a solid year and a half. That fizzled out too, but with Levi...its different. I feel different. When I see him, my chest literally feels like my heart is fluttering. I get a freaking butterfly garden in my stomach, my worries disappear..." She smiled warmly to herself.

"I've never felt this way about anyone, and now I do with him...it scares me that I'm leaving" She sighed. Penny put a hand onto her daughter's shoulder and soothed her. "I know the feeling..." She told her, making the girls all look at her. "What?" Harper asked.

"When I was your age." Penny nodded. "Think about it sweetheart, you're a beautiful young woman with a strong mind and you're growing up. You're going to experience these things..." She told her. Riley frowned a little confused.

"You and I both know...even the girls...this is more than a crush" Penny nodded. Riley sighed, as she turned to the girls who were staring at her smiling. She took a breath, and swallowed. "So I'm not crazy?" She laughed a little, making her mom and the girls laugh with her.

"No honey" Her mom told her. "Shit" Riley took a slightly shaky breath, as she thought about finally admitting it to herself into her head.

"I think...I love him" She told the girls, and they grinned happily.
