11 || PROPHET

18:56, 30 July 2023

Finding a naked angel, who had just recently had the power of God inside him, washed up on the side of the reservoir was not something this young couple had expected on their early morning walk, but it happened.

And it wasn't even the craziest part.

No, the craziest part was when a small Irish girl, her rather tall boyfriend; his brother; their surrogate father and the King of Hell came looking for him. Not that the couple knew all that about them, but Vanessa did. And she was extremely glad to see Castiel had survived, or was brought back she didn't really know, even if he was buck ass naked.

"Okay, can we get Jason Bourne here some clothes please." Vanessa said quickly, covering her eyes as Castiel got to his feet but... not before had a quick little peek... Impressive.

"Who's Jason Bourne?" The angel's signature deep voice greeted her ears and she peeked through her fingers, making sure her eyes stayed on his.

"Wait, do you know who I am?" Vanessa asked, hopeful that they weren't going to have to jog his memory. That would save them a lot of time.

"Why wouldn't I? You're Vanessa." Castiel accepted the pants and shirt Dean handed him, guessing Vanessa knew they would find him and knew he'd be naked.

"Oh thank God, literally. We aren't going to have to jog your memory." Vanessa sighed in relief, her arm falling back to her side now that Castiel was finally clothed. Something told her Chuck might have done a little helping, perhaps he was grateful since she'd stopped Castiel from Thanos snapping half of Heaven.

"Wait, he lost his memory after this?" Dean asked, turning to Vanessa with his eyebrow raised.

"Aye, and we managed to find him a hell of a lot earlier too. He didn't show up in season seven until halfway through, married to some chick and going by the name Emmanuel." Vanessa words had them all blinking at her and she knew an entire rundown of season seven was going to have to happen at some point.

Ooo, maybe she'd make them a powerpoint slideshow and add pictures, that'd be fun.

But first she had to actually remember the season herself. Just because it was one of her favourite seasons doesn't mean she remembered every little bit of it. And a lot would change now that Sam wasn't hallucinating... and Castiel was with them so there was also that as well, she wasn't sure how that would effect the story.

And the timing was different as well, she didn't know exactly when the Leviathans were released in the show. And Castiel was supposed to go all Infinity War on Heaven and Earth for a little while but since he gave the souls back, that hurried things along a little.

First she'd have to tell them everything about the Leviathans and their plans for humanity, then she'd worry about everything else.

Crowley followed them back to Bobby's, the King eager to hear all that Vanessa had to say on the topic of Dicks as she called it. Let's hope she wasn't being literal.

"Where did you get that?" Sam asked with a chuckle as he gestured towards the whiteboard that had suddenly appeared in Bobby's living room.

"I had Balthazar get me it. He should be back soon, I sent him to get Rufus." Vanessa told them as she decided what colour pen to write with. Black seemed fitting given the Leviathans bleed black goo. And she'd use red to emphasise the important stuff.

"Rufus? Great, just what we need."

"Nice to see you too, Bob." Rufus muttered as he appeared with Balthazar, he did not appreciate being zapped by an angel and ending up in Bobby's of all places.

"Good you're here." Vanessa ushered him towards the sofa, away from Crowley as she didn't think Rufus would be too keen to sit next to a demon. "Rufus, that's Crowley, the King of Hell. Please be nice."

"The what? Kid, are you outta your damn mind? If you think I'm gonna sit here with the friggin' King of Hell, you got another thing coming. It's bad enough I have to see Bob over her so soon after I was supposed to die-"

"Like you're such a delight yourself." Bobby scoffed and Rufus frowned, those around beginning to bicker as well.

"You know what-"

"I may be a demon-"

"It's like grumpy old men-"

"I don't want to sit next to him!"

"Why? It's not like you haven't kissed him before-"

"Who's kissed who?"

"I don't even know why I'm here-"

The only one behaving was Castiel, who was sitting with a blanket wrapped around him and a cup of tea Vanessa had made him, using her special teabags, in his hands. And he was also the only one who noticed when Vanessa walked into the kitchen, grabbed two baking trays, shooting him a wink, before banging them together.

"Hey, hey!" Vanessa shouted, banging the trays once more, making everyone jump, angels and demons included. "The whole lot of you better shut it or you'll be dealing with these Leviathans by yourself!"

"Sorry." Vanessa wasn't sure who mumbled that, she had a feeling it had come from everyone, whether they'd been arguing or not.

"Are you gonna talk slow or am I gonna need to bring a translator in here?" Rufus asked, a touch of humour in his voice but at the same time he was serious.

"Now..." Vanessa began, ignoring Rufus' comment. "Leviathans are a right shower o' bastards, ain't much that kill them but there are a few things that can slow them down... One, borax, burns them bad, like holy water for demons."

The group watched as Vanessa scribbled on the whiteboard, cringing a little at the squeakiness of the pen but finding amusement in the little pictures she drew of industrial cleaners and soap.

"Two, decapitation. Doesn't kill them but it will stop them as long as you keep the head away from the body." Vanessa wrote decapitation in big letters followed by a small drawing of a stick figure whose head was lying next to it and circled in red was 'put head in box - dump in ocean' followed by a smiley face.

Sam didn't think she could be any more adorable right now if she tried and his heart was extremely full.

"What does kill them?" Rufus asked and Vanessa held up her finger.

"Please, save all questions for the end... or raise your hand." Vanessa grinned a little, know the guys would absolutely hate that. "Now, that's pretty much all that can slow them down, anything else would be like shooting a nerf gun at a bear."

At that point, Balthazar raised his hand, not without his face twisting into a fed up one. Just because he was incredibly fond of Vanessa, doesn't mean he wants to have to listen to this.

"Yes, Balthazar?"

"Can I go?"

"No." Vanessa replied immediately and he sighed as she went back to her lesson as she called it. "The only weapon that can be used to kill them is the bone of a righteous mortal, washed in the three bloods of the fallen."

Vanessa drew a questionably shaped bone along with three small red jars to symbolise the blood, whose blood it was written below it. Crowley. Castiel. Unknown Alpha. (She also drew devil horns for Crowley, he found it amusing. A halo for Castiel and a pair of fangs for the Alpha, even though she had a feeling it wasn't vampire blood).

"Naturally." Rufus mumbled to himself. Of course Leviathans had some special way you had to kill them.

"We have the blood, Crowley has a back up. All we need is the bone-"

"And then we have to track down all the Leviathans and get close enough to kill them." Dean muttered, earning a glare from Vanessa for having interrupted her.

"If you'd let me finish... Dean." Vanessa gritted his name and he shrunk under her intense gaze. "You would have heard me say that we only have to take out their leader and the rest will fall."

Crowley raised his hand, waiting patiently for her to ask him what he wanted as he didn't want her shouting at him. He may be the King of all evil, but he'd be lying if he said Vanessa didn't scare him... especially when she got angry and unintelligible.

"Crowley?"

"And who is their leader?"

"We'll get there..." And so Vanessa continued to tell them everything she knew about the Leviathans, from their skill set and abilities, to their plans for humanity and their connection to Biggersons restaurant chain, which she told them all to stay clear of, despite how funny Dean had been when he got basically high of that weird burger he'd eaten.

She told them of those involved, those she could remember anyway. She only seemed to remember Dick Roman, Edgar, the doctor one and the one Bobby had chained up in the basement for a little while. Oh, and the real estate lady too. But it was enough for them to get the general idea of what was to come.

If someone would have told Vanessa a year ago that she'd be standing in Bobby Singers living room, wearing a Chewbacca onesie and giving a Leviathan lesson to the Winchesters, two grumpy old men, two angels and the King of Hell, she'd have laughed in their face.

"And lastly, Leviathans can kill angels without an angel blade, so you two..." Vanessa gestured between her angels. "...be careful."

"Are we done? Can I leave?" Balthazar asking hopeful.

"You can leave." Vanessa nodded and he was gone almost instantly. "Now... Bobby, I want you to call Garth and get him up to speed-"

"Who?"

"How do you know about Garth?" Bobby asked, eyebrow raised before it fell and he remembered she's from the future. "Right, forgot. TV show. Okay then, I'll get on it."

"Good. Oh, and call Sheriff Mills and tell her if she needs surgery at any point this... month, to go somewhere other than Sioux Falls General." Vanessa's words had them all blinking at her like she'd grown a second head. "Trust me, that's like their centre of operations in the beginning. Just somebody do it!"

"Alright, alright. Keep your hair on." Bobby said with a chuckle as he went into the kitchen to do what he was told.

"That damn angel left without giving me a ride back home." Rufus grumbled, standing up.

"I would offer my assistance, but I highly doubt you'd accept." Crowley replied with his signature grin.

"Damn right." Rufus scoffed, shooting Crowley a look which didn't even phase him.

"Actually, Crowley before you go..." Vanessa grabbed hold of Crowley's arm and pulled him into the hallway, much to his protests of 'minding the merchandise'. "There's a crossroads demon, his name is Guy or something like that. Anyway, he's making deals with people and sending another demon to cause accidents so he can collect their souls early. And by earlier I mean a week after making the deal."

"Is he now?" Crowley gritted his teeth, crossroad demons of all demons should know that a deal is a deal and it must be kept no matter what. "I'll deal with him."

"Good, because I really don't want to see Sam marrying Becky in Vegas." Vanessa sighed in relief and Crowley looked at her with his eyebrow arched which meant she had to tell him everything about that particular episode.

Crowley found it very amusing hearing all about Sam's Vegas wedding and the love potion. He even winked at Sam when they went back into the living room before he vanished. But not before he accepted a box of Vanessa's famous scones that she liked to make him. They were truly delicious and paired well with a cup of tea.

"Balthazar, can you come back please?" Vanessa called to the ceiling and the flutter of Balthazar's wings followed suit.

"Yes dear?"

"Can you please take Rufus home before you go back to...hating Celine Dion or whatever is it that you do."

"I do truly hate her... But yes, I can take gramps here home." Balthazar gestured to Rufus with his thumb, making his jaw tense at the nickname.

"Pretty sure I'm younger than you." He said unamused and with a slight scoff.

"Oh, and Balthazar... There's a box of scones on the table for you." Vanessa smiled at the way Balthazar's face seemed to light up.

"You truly are my favourite human." He smiled, a little giddily, as he went to grab his box of delicious treats before he and Rufus disappeared.

"This is like the worst episode of The Royale Family ever." Vanessa mumbled to herself as she ran her hands through her hair.

Talk about a dysfunctional family. She was certain she was the only one who liked every single member. Everyone else had at least someone in the family they hated.

"You know I love it when you get all in control like that." Sam said quietly as pulled her towards him by her waist.

"Really?" Vanessa said with a small lip bite. "Then maybe I should drag you down to the panic room and show you just how in control I can get."

"We are right here." Dean muttered, a disturbed look on his face and his arms held out to his side as he gestured to himself and Castiel. "Right here."

"Good for you." Vanessa replied with a sarcastic grin that fell as quick as it formed. "And lucky for you I have more to tell you." She reluctantly pulled away from Sam and headed back towards her whiteboard, which she was definitely keeping as she'd always wanted to do something like this before.

Vanessa went on to tell Sam, Dean, Castiel and Bobby, once he'd finished making calls, the season seven she remembered. From Sam's hallucinations to Bobby's house burning down which made him choke on his coffee and mumble under his breath about bringing death to all Leviathans.

Vanessa would be making damn sure that Bobby's house stayed as it is.

"Don't worry, I have a feeling that, maybe, as long as we don't bother them they won't come after us. Although Sam, Dean, you guys need to scrap all your old aliases and get new ones as the Leviathans know everything about you."

"How?" Sam asked curiously.

"From Cas, they got the and I quote, 'full download' when they were nestled inside him." Vanessa looked sympathetically towards Castiel who just pulled his blanket round him more and drunk his, now cold, tea.

"Perfect." Dean mumbled, hating the idea of having to come up with whole new aliases. And he definitely didn't want Vanessa's help with that or they'd end up with surnames from British and Irish TV show characters.

"Cas?" Vanessa said softly as she approached the rundown looking angel.

"Yes?"

"Do you know if there's any way to stop a prophet from being activated?" She sat down next to him, ignoring the confused looks she got from the others.

Vanessa hadn't mentioned Kevin to anyone, not yet anyway. She really didn't want to drag him into all this, it ruined his life... It literally killed him and he ended up in Hell before getting stuck forever in the veil. She wasn't about to let that happen to him again. The kid and his mom deserved a normal life. So if there was some way to stop him from becoming a prophet then she'd make damn sure she'd do it.

"Hold up, I thought Chuck was already a prophet?" Dean interjected, making Vanessa cringe as she hadn't exactly figured out a way to tell them Chuck wasn't exactly a prophet of the lord but the lord himself.

"Tell them I'm dead... And then come outside." Chuck's voice filled Vanessa's head and she jumped a little, not enough for the others to notice thankfully. She didn't know how she could explain that God was in her head when she was awake... And also Lucifer was in her head when she was asleep. That wouldn't be a fun conversation to have.

"Chuck's dead." Vanessa blurted out, watching their brows furrow, even Castiel's. "After Michael and Lucifer, demons got him. Not Crowley's demons by the way. And Raphael was too busy trying to take over Heaven to bother saving him."

"Nicely done." Chuck added, making her smile a little before it dropped. Stop eavesdropping Chuck!

"Damn..." Sam said softly, had they have known demons were after him they'd have at least tried to help him. Little did they know though, he was the last person on Earth who needed their help. At least not while his sister was still locked away.

Vanessa did feel a little bad for Amara being locked away when she knew it worked out well in the end, Amara becoming good and just enjoying the world. But she wasn't sure she could risk releasing her incase that didn't happen this time round.

"I'll be back in a sec, just need some fresh air after this whole... thing." Vanessa waved her hand in front of her before getting to her feet.

"You okay?" Sam stood up after her and she smiled, taking his hand and gently kissing the back of it.

She always loved how caring Sam was.

"I'm good. I'll just be back in a minute." She let go and went to walk outside before she stopped and called back over her shoulder. "Don't touch my whiteboard!"

The whiteboard pen clattered to the ground as it fell from Dean's hand, he had been planning to add some very childish drawings to her Leviathan board, as she called it, but now he wasn't all that bothered.

Chuck was waiting in the middle of the scrapyard for Vanessa, his eyebrow raised at little at her choice of onesie.

"You did good with Castiel." Were Chuck's first words to her as she walked towards him, the soft crunch of the gravel beneath her feet following her.

"Is that why he had his memories back?" Vanessa asked, a little unamused that she had to be talking to him again.

"It might be." Chuck nodded, his hands clasped together in front of him. "You're concerned... about Kevin."

"Becoming a prophet ruins his life, of course I'm concerned. The kid is only sixteen years old, he doesn't need to know about all of this." Vanessa waved her hand to symbolise that 'this' meant the supernatural world.

"You aren't eager to meet him? Like you were with everyone else?" Chuck asked curiously, he hadn't been thrilled to learn that Vanessa was very eager to meet Lucifer. If he'd known that he'd have never sent her to him... not that he was much help anyway. Well, not yet at least... He could sense a little of his sons grace inside Vanessa and he wasn't all that surprised that Lucifer was hanging around in her dreams After all, he had gone and blocked most of what Vanessa knows about the world from Lucifer, he doesn't need to see that.

"Of course I'd like to meet him, just the same way I'd like to meet Charlie and Frank, even if he is a crazy lunatic... But if I can keep them all out of this life then it'll be for the best. This life is what kills all of them, I can't let that happen."

"No, you can't." Chuck said with a smile, he was a little proud of Vanessa for just how much she was willingly to do to save all these people. People she'd never met and only see through a TV screen.

Perhaps Chuck was already changing for the better. Just as he'd expected would happen when Vanessa first prayed to him.

"Can you help me? Can you stop Kevin from becoming a prophet. Stop anyone from becoming a prophet?" Vanessa practically pleaded, her hands clasped against her chest as if she was praying.

"No."

Bastard.

"Hey, there's no need for that." Chuck warned and Vanessa looked down at her feet in embarrassment that he'd heard her thought. "I was about to tell you, before you insulted me, that I can't stop anyone from becoming a prophet... but I can make you the next one."

He what?

"You want to make me...a prophet?" Vanessa was having a hard time taking in what he'd just said.

"It's the best way to save Kevin."

"I, uh, I mean... I guess. I hadn't thought of that... I just thought you could turn the prophet switch off like Metatron did." Vanessa chuckled nervously, did she want to become a prophet of the lord? It was bad enough that said lord was in her head at times and that his satan-y son was in her dreams... Did she really want to add more godliness to that?

"It won't activate immediately, only when the first tablet it freed will you truly feel the power of the word."

"You mean I'm gonna get hit by lightening? Like Kevin was?" Vanessa asked, shocked and not exactly looking forward to experiencing that.

"I think I can manage to stop you getting hit by lightening." Chuck chuckled a little at her reaction.

"Gee thanks..." Vanessa mumbled, her hand running through her hair.

"What'll it be? Become a prophet yourself or ruin a kids life?" Chuck asked, making Vanessa stare blankly at him. Like it was her fault Kevin's life would get ruined. She hadn't made him a prophet.

"Fine. I guess." Vanessa sighed, she was already from the future, and another universe... Why not add prophet to that list as well.

Vanessa Monroe, sous chef, future girl and prophet of the lord. Now there's a business card that was bound to turn heads.

"Awesome." Chuck clicked his fingers and nothing happened but Vanessa just assumed her name had now replaced Kevin's on the eyelids of all angels and she would now have to answer some very difficult questions from Castiel and Balthazar.

"The other tablets? Can you tell me where they are? I know where the angel one is, well I don't know the location but I know it's in one of Lucifer's crypts... Is that where the demon one is too?"

"Why don't you ask Lucifer yourself?" Chuck winked at her and then he was gone, leaving Vanessa alone in the scrapyard once again.

Vanessa was dreading going back inside as she knew she would be getting immediately bombarded with questions as she knew Castiel would have told the guys about her becoming a prophet the minute Chuck clicked his fingers. Maybe she would just get very drunk and draw them a picture instead, save herself some breath from having to tell them properly.

But they didn't deserve that... They deserved the truth, well most of it, so that's what she'd have to do.

As Vanessa had expected, the guys were on her from the minute she stepped foot inside the house.

"You're a prophet?"

"You're speaking to God in my scrapyard?"

"What's he like?"

"Where has he been?"

"Guys! Enough, just... jeez, will you please just give me a second." Vanessa sighed, leaning against the kitchen counter with her back to them while she waited on the kettle boiling.

She was going to need something stronger than tea to get through this conversation... but hey, she'd already been Spider-manned through the multiverse, she could handle this.

At least, she hoped.

-I wasn't sure how this chapter would go when I started it but in the end I really liked how it turned out!

I figured we needed something between the last chapter and the first proper leviathan meeting which may be the next chapter, so i hope you enjoyed this little family meeting-esque chapter i came up with!
