・Chapter 2
17:11, 13 June 2025After Two Weeks...
Dawn painted the forest clearing in shades of gray, mist curling between ancient trees like ghostly fingers. The scene could have been a painting - if not for the hundred-plus armed men dressed in tactical black, their weapons trained on a single point.
At the head of this small army stood the Norris family. Alexander Norris, flanked by his three sons, cut an imposing figure in his black tactical gear. James, Michael, and William formed a deadly triangle behind their father, each radiating the kind of focused rage that had earned them their reputation as Seoul's most dangerous family.
Across the clearing, Jeon Jungkook looked almost bored.
He leaned against the hood of his matte black SUV, one ankle crossed over the other, as comfortable as if he were at a social gathering rather than a potential war zone. His all-black ensemble - from his fitted jacket to his leather gloves - made him look like a shadow given form. The weapon in his hand was held loosely, almost carelessly, but everyone present knew he could have it aimed and fired before most could blink.
Behind him, through the tinted windows of the SUV, a familiar figure sat in the back seat. Y/N's silhouette was visible but indistinct, like a butterfly caught in dark glass.
"Quite the turnout," Jungkook's voice carried across the clearing, rich with amusement. "All these men, just for little old me? I'm flattered."
"This ends today, Jeon," Alexander's voice boomed through the morning air. "We've played your game for two weeks. Every move we made, you countered. Every plan we had, you were waiting. I'm done watching my men die."
Jungkook's smile was sharp as a blade. "Finally ready to negotiate properly?"
"There's nothing to negotiate," James stepped forward, his finger resting beside his weapon's trigger. "You give us back our sister, and maybe - maybe - we let you walk out of here alive."
A low chuckle escaped Jungkook's lips. "You still don't understand, do you?" He straightened slowly, his movement causing a hundred weapons to adjust their aim. "I didn't take her to bargain. I took her because she's mine."
"She belongs with her family," Michael snarled.
"Ah, but that's exactly what I'm offering." Jungkook's dark eyes glittered with something dangerous and pleased. "Marriage. Unite our families, end this pointless war, and give your sister the protection of both empires."
William's laugh was bitter. "You expect us to believe you want peace?"
"I want what's mine," Jungkook corrected smoothly. "Your sister caught my attention that night, and I never let go of what interests me." He gestured casually with his weapon. "But I'm not unreasonable. Marry her to me, with all the proper respect and ceremony she deserves, and I'll even throw in a wedding gift - your entire cocaine shipment, returned untouched."
Alexander's face hardened. "And if we refuse?"
"Then we continue this dance." Jungkook's smile turned predatory. "How many more men are you willing to lose? How many more territories will slip through your fingers while you chase shadows? I've beaten you at every turn these past two weeks, and I've only been using a fraction of my resources." His voice dropped lower, carried on the morning mist. "How much longer before the Norris empire falls completely?"
Silence fell over the clearing. The Norris brothers exchanged loaded glances, a lifetime of silent communication passing between them.
"Two days," Jungkook continued into the silence. "Take her home now. In two days, I'll come to your territory, through the front door this time, to marry her properly. Your empire stays intact, you gain my protection instead of my enmity, and your sister becomes the most powerful woman in Seoul." His smile widened fractionally. "A far better deal than you'll get if you try to shoot me."
Alexander's jaw worked as he processed the offer. "And you expect us to trust you'll keep your word?"
"I always keep my word," Jungkook replied simply. "It's why I'm still alive." He pushed fully off the SUV, his movement deliberately slow. "So, do we have a deal?"
The tension stretched like a wire about to snap. Then, finally, Alexander gave a sharp nod.
"If you hurt her-" James started.
"I protect what's mine," Jungkook cut him off. He turned toward the SUV, his back deliberately exposed to the armed men - a show of either confidence or insanity. With elegant precision, he opened the rear door.
Y/N emerged like a storm cloud, her eyes flashing with fury. She wore one of Jungkook's black dress shirts, the fabric drowning her small frame, making her look both vulnerable and defiant.
"Go on, princess," Jungkook murmured, just loud enough for her to hear. "Say goodbye properly. You'll be mine again soon enough."
She shot him a look of pure venom before starting across the clearing. Each step seemed to cost her, as if she were walking through molasses. Halfway to her family, she paused, turning back to face him.
"I'll never forgive you for this," she declared, voice carrying clearly through the morning air.
Jungkook's smile was almost gentle, despite the darkness in his eyes. "You don't have to forgive me, princess. You just have to marry me." He made a shooing gesture with his free hand. "Now go. Let your family think they've won something today."
Y/N's brothers rushed forward to meet her, forming a protective circle as they guided her back to their father. Alexander wrapped her in a fierce embrace, his eyes never leaving Jungkook over her head.
"Two days," Jungkook called out, already sliding back into his SUV. "Oh, and princess?" He paused, one hand on the door. "Wear white. You only get one first wedding, after all."
The SUV's engine roared to life, the sound echoing through the trees like a beast's growl. As he pulled away, leaving the armed force behind, his last glimpse in the rearview mirror was of Y/N wrapped in her family's embrace, her eyes still fixed on his retreating vehicle.
His smile, hidden now from view, held all the satisfaction of a predator who knew his prey was already caught. Two days was nothing. He'd waited his whole life to find something worth keeping forever.
The morning mist swallowed his vehicle whole, leaving the Norris family to their hollow victory. They had their daughter back, but everyone in that clearing knew the truth:
She had belonged to Jeon Jungkook from the moment he first saw her, and in two days, he would make sure the whole world knew it too.
At Norris Mansion...
The Norris mansion felt different now. Y/N noticed it the moment they crossed the threshold, the way the guards doubled their posts, how the air seemed heavier with unspoken tension. Her brothers flanked her like living shields, their previous warmth tempered by something darker, more desperate.
The great room, usually a symbol of their family's power, now felt like a courtroom awaiting judgment. Alexander Norris stood by his usual spot near the windows, but his shoulders carried a new weight.
"Sit down, sweetheart," he said, his voice gentler than she'd ever heard it.
Y/N remained standing. "What aren't you telling me?"
James stepped forward, always the protector. "Y/N, there are things you need to understand about the past two weeks-"
"What I understand," she cut in, "is that you're all acting like we're at a funeral instead of a rescue."
Michael exchanged glances with William, that silent communication that had always excluded her. The tension stretched until Alexander finally turned from the window.
"We made a deal," he stated simply.
Y/N's blood ran cold. "What kind of deal?"
"The only kind we could," William spoke up, his tactical mind clearly still running scenarios. "The kind that keeps our family alive."
"No." The word fell from her lips as understanding dawned. "No, you didn't-"
"He's destroyed half our operations in two weeks," James explained, frustration evident in every line of his body. "Every move we made, he was three steps ahead. The warehouse wasn't just a theft, it was a message. He could have taken everything that night, but he chose to take you instead."
"So you're just giving me back to him?" Her voice cracked. "Gift-wrapped with a bow?"
Alexander crossed the room, reaching for her hand. "We're ensuring our family's survival. The marriage will unite our empires-"
"Marriage?" Y/N jerked away, fury replacing shock. "I'm your daughter, not a peace treaty!"
"You think I want this?" Alexander's composure cracked. "You think it doesn't kill me to make this choice? He's backed us into a corner. Every time we tried to rescue you, we lost men. Good men. Loyal men."
"Then try harder!" She spun to face her brothers. "James, please. You've never backed down from a fight-"
"This isn't a fight we can win," James's voice was raw. "Not without losing everything. Including you."
Michael stepped forward. "We've lost three territories already. Our allies are pulling back, afraid of choosing the losing side. He's not just fighting us, he's dismantling us piece by piece."
"And you know what happens to the family if we fall," William added quietly. "How many of our people die? How many innocent lives get caught in the crossfire?"
Y/N felt tears burning behind her eyes. "So I'm the sacrifice? The lamb to slaughter?"
"No," Alexander's voice hardened. "You're the queen that saves the kingdom. Jeon Jungkook doesn't want to destroy us anymore, he wants to join us. With this marriage, our family doesn't just survive, it becomes untouchable."
"He's a monster," she whispered.
James caught her shoulders, forcing her to meet his gaze. "He's a monster who's had two weeks to hurt you, and didn't. A monster who's offering terms instead of taking what he wants. A monster who-" he swallowed hard, "who looks at you like you're something he'd burn the world to keep."
"That's supposed to make me feel better?"
"It's supposed to make you understand that this isn't just about survival," William interjected. "It's about power. Together, our families would control everything from Busan to Incheon. No more territory wars, no more lost lives."
Y/N sank onto the leather couch, the weight of reality crushing her. "When?"
"Two days," Alexander answered. "He's coming here, doing this properly with witnesses and ceremony. Making it legitimate in the eyes of both families."
She laughed bitterly. "Properly? There's nothing proper about being forced to marry your kidnapper."
"Y/N," James knelt before her, taking her hands. "If there was any other way-"
"There's always another way," she pulled away, standing. "You taught me that. Fight smarter, not harder, remember? But instead, you're all just giving up."
"We're not giving up," Michael's voice held steel. "We're evolving. Adapting. Surviving."
"And my survival doesn't matter?"
"Your survival matters most," Alexander stepped closer. "Why do you think we're agreeing to this? He could have killed you that first night. Instead, he saw your value. Not just as a bargaining chip, but as an equal."
Y/N turned away, facing the window where Seoul's skyline stretched endlessly. Somewhere out there, Jungkook was probably already planning their wedding, that infuriating smirk on his face.
"Two days?" she finally asked.
"Yes."
She closed her eyes, memories of those two weeks flooding back. The way he'd left her cigarettes without comment. How he'd never touched her without necessity. The dark intensity in his eyes when he thought she wasn't looking.
"Fine," she whispered. "But don't expect me to play the happy bride."
James stood, reaching for her, but she stepped away.
"I need to be alone," she stated, moving toward the door. At the threshold, she paused. "You know he's not going to stop with marriage, right? This is just the beginning of whatever game he's playing."
"We know," Alexander replied heavily. "But for now, it's the only game we can afford to play."
Y/N left without another word, her steps echoing through the mansion's halls. Behind her, she heard the muffled sound of glass shattering, someone taking out their frustration on innocent crystal.
In her room, she stood before the window, watching dawn fully break over Seoul. In two days, she would wear white and say vows she didn't mean to a man who had orchestrated this entire elaborate trap.
And the worst part? A tiny voice in the back of her mind wondered if perhaps her midnight smoke at that warehouse hadn't been quite as accidental as she'd claimed. If perhaps some part of her hadn't been waiting for someone to see through the perfect princess facade.
If perhaps Jeon Jungkook hadn't just caught her that night, he'd seen her.
She lit a cigarette, using the same pack he'd returned to her, and watched the smoke curl into the morning air. Two days to prepare for a wedding that would reshape Seoul's underworld.
Two days until she became Mrs. Jeon.
The thought should have terrified her more than it did.
At Night...
The study was dark save for a single lamp, casting long shadows across Alexander Norris's face as he poured two fingers of scotch. James stood by the fireplace, his military posture at odds with the turmoil in his eyes. Outside, Seoul's nightlife pulsed beneath a blood-red moon.
"You can say it," Alexander spoke first, sliding a glass across his mahogany desk. "I know you're burning to."
James's jaw worked silently before he turned. "We could reach out to the Chinese. The Kim family in Busan owes us-"
"And start a war that would paint Seoul's streets red?" Alexander cut in, voice sharp. "How many more bodies do you want to count, son?"
"Better than sacrificing Y/N to that monster."
Alexander's laugh held no humor. "Monster?" He took a slow sip of scotch. "Monsters are predictable, James. They destroy, they take, they kill. Jungkook..." He trailed off, staring into his glass. "Jungkook is something else entirely."
"That's exactly why we can't trust him," James moved closer, his shadow merging with his father's on the wall. "You've seen what he's capable of. These past two weeks weren't just about showing strength, he was playing with us. Like a cat with a mouse."
"And that doesn't make you wonder why?" Alexander's eyes gleamed in the dim light. "Why take Y/N that night? Why not just destroy our operation when he had the chance?"
James frowned. "He saw an opportunity-"
"No." Alexander stood, moving to a painting on the wall, a battle scene from some ancient war. "He saw everything. Every weakness, every strength, every possible move we could make. And instead of crushing us, he chose this path." He turned back to his son. "Why?"
"Because he's insane?"
"Because he's brilliant," Alexander corrected. "Think, James. What happens if this wedding doesn't take place?"
James's hand tightened around his untouched glass. "He'll destroy us."
"Worse." Alexander's voice dropped lower. "He'll dismantle us piece by piece. Not just our empire, our legacy. Everything your grandfather built, everything I've protected, everything you and your brothers are meant to inherit. Gone." He moved back to his desk, pressing his palms flat against the wood. "And not quickly. Slowly. Painfully. Until the Norris name becomes nothing but a cautionary tale in Seoul's underworld."
Silence stretched between them, heavy with unspoken fears.
"And if the wedding does happen?" James finally asked. "What then, father? Do you really think he'll be content playing son-in-law? That he'll respect our territories, our authority?"
Alexander's smile was grim. "Of course not."
"Then why-"
"Because this way, we have a chance." Alexander pulled open a drawer, withdrawing a thick folder. "This way, we become family. And family..." He let the word hang meaningfully.
James's eyes narrowed as understanding dawned. "Family can be dealt with from the inside."
"Precisely." Alexander spread photographs across the desk, surveillance shots of Jungkook, property deeds, bank statements. "The moment he marries Y/N, he gains our protection. But we also gain access. To his world, his people, his secrets."
"You're planning to take him down after the wedding," James breathed. "Using his own move against him."
"I'm planning to ensure our family's survival," Alexander corrected carefully. "By any means necessary."
James moved closer, studying the documents. "It won't be easy. He'll be expecting something like this."
"Of course he will." Alexander's smile held secrets darker than the night outside. "Just like I expect he has plans of his own. The question isn't whether we can surprise him, it's whether we can outmaneuver him when the time comes."
"And Y/N?" James's voice caught slightly. "What happens to her when this all explodes?"
Alexander's expression softened marginally. "Your sister is stronger than any of us realized. She survived two weeks with him, James. Not just survived, she held her own. Maybe..." He paused, choosing his words carefully. "Maybe she's exactly where she needs to be when everything falls apart."
"You think she'll choose us over him?"
"I think your sister has surprised us all lately." Alexander gathered the documents, returning them to the drawer. "The question is, will she surprise Jungkook too?"
James finally took a sip of his scotch, the liquor burning like the questions in his throat. "He'll see us coming."
"Good." Alexander moved to the window, watching Seoul's darkness swallow the last hints of sunset. "Let him see us coming. Let him prepare and plan and think he knows our every move." His reflection smiled in the glass. "Sometimes the best trap is the one your enemy thinks he's already disarmed."
"And if we're wrong? If he's ten steps ahead instead of just three?"
Alexander turned back to his son, his eyes holding the weight of empire. "Then Seoul will burn, and we'll make sure the ashes bury us all."
James nodded slowly, understanding the gravity of what wasn't being said. They were betting everything, their empire, their family, their future, on a game where every player thought they held the winning hand.
"Two days," Alexander murmured, almost to himself. "Two days until we welcome the devil into our home and call him son." He finished his scotch in one smooth motion. "Make sure your brothers understand, whatever they're planning, whatever contingencies they've arranged, nothing happens until I give the word. We play this exactly as Jungkook expects."
"Until we don't," James added softly.
"Until we don't," Alexander agreed. "Now go. Check on your sister. Make sure she's... preparing appropriately."
James moved to the door, pausing with his hand on the handle. "Father? What if..." He struggled with the words. "What if we're wrong about everything? What if Jungkook genuinely..."
"Loves her?" Alexander's laugh was sharp. "Men like Jeon Jungkook don't love, son. They possess. They consume. They destroy." He turned back to the window. "But sometimes, very rarely, they meet their match."
The door closed behind James with a soft click, leaving Alexander alone with his thoughts and the blood-red moon hanging over Seoul like an omen.
In two days, he would give his daughter to the devil himself. And pray that when the smoke cleared, there would be something left of all of them to save.
