Chapter 18

07:52, 19 August 2022

About 3 weeks have went by since our investigation at the Myrtle Plantation, and the renovations on the Museum were just about done. I was beginning to get super excited for the museum to be finished, considering Zak and I had already began to buy haunted objects, or even take in haunted objects to put in there. I had every room sectioned off with a different theme, and the rooms that were already completely renovated I had began to set up. My personal favorite room was the doll room, but Zak absolutely despised it due to the fact he was petrified of dolls. The room can be kind of scary, but it is a great thing to have inside the museum. For whatever reason, people loved the idea of haunted dolls.

"Babe! Are you in that stupid doll room again?" I heard Zak call for me from down the hallway.

"Yeah! I'm just finishing up the painting. I'll be right there!" I yelled back as I finished painting the last little bit of the wall, and ran out to the hallway to greet him.

"You know, we pay people to do all of that. I don't quite understand why you are."

"I like to hear them talk sometimes. Especially the kids. Hearing their little voices makes me happy."

"One day it wont be a spirit child talking to you, ya know."

I smiled at him, giving him a quick kiss. The thought of having children with him is the best feeling in the world, it is the thing I want most. We both agreed that we wanted children, just wanted to wait until after the wedding.

"Your mom is outside waiting for you. Did you forget that you were supposed to go and try on your dress today? The wedding is going to be here before we know it." Zak said to me as we walked to the front door.

"I know, I just got so caught up in painting and opening the museum that I forgot about the appointment. The wedding is only a couple weeks away." I responded nervously as he opened the door for me.

"Well, have fun with your mom today, and I will see you later at home."

Zak gave me a quick and passionate kiss, then walked me to the passenger door of my moms car. He opened the door for me and helped me inside before giving me another quick kiss before my mom drove off towards the dress shop.

"You are going to be the most beautiful bride! I am so excited for your wedding, and Zak is such a sweet man!" My mom beamed at me as she parked the car in the dress shop parking lot.

"Thanks mom. I'm glad to have met him." I replied to her with a bright smile.

We walked into the little dress shop and waited for a member of the staff to greet us and take us to the dressing room. As I began fidgeting with my hands, due to nervousness that my dress wouldn't fit, a woman about the same age as my mother walked up with her bright red hair, and a big smile across her face. She ushered us to the dressing room where my dress was hanging, my mother stayed in the hall with the mirrors to wait for me.

"This dress is not a very common purchase, but I think it will look absolutely stunning on you." The woman told me as she helped me into it and zipped up the back without a hitch.

A big sigh of relief came out of me as it fit just perfectly and I looked at myself in the mirror. I felt absolutely beautiful. The dress was a mermaid style, but was all black with tan undertones. The sleeves draped over the sides of my shoulders and had a sweetheart neckline. It accented every curve on my body, and quite frankly I felt super sexy wearing it. Tears began welling in my eyes as the woman put the black tiara that matched upon my head. She slowly opened the door so I could walk out to the hall to my mom.

"Oh my god, you look absolutely gorgeous! You chose black instead of white?" My mother asked me quietly a tone of disappointment in her voice.

"Yes. For one I am not a virgin so I can't wear white, and for two, black goes better with Zak and I's wedding theme and personalities. This dress feels as though it was made for me, and I feel absolutely amazing in it." I replied to her.

"That is all that matters, sweetie. As long as you are happy. Zak is gonna be drooling when you walk down the isle."

My mom nudged my arm and stood next to me as I kept looking at myself in the mirror.

The drive back to my house was a quiet one, as I think my mom was upset I didn't choose to have a traditional wedding, but I didn't care. This was mine and Zak's day, if she didn't like it she doesn't have to come. As I got out of the car and headed back inside the house, my head began reeling with wedding thoughts and everything that could possibly go wrong. I softly opened the door, tears streaming down my face, when I heard Zak's voice.

"Hey baby! How did it go- wait, why are you crying?" Zak asked me as he rushed to my side and pulled me into a hug.

"The dress is amazing, moms mad it isn't white. But, I dont really care what she has to say, this is what I want and what we want. I can't help but continue to think of everything that could go wrong. The wedding is a couple weeks away, and I'm panicking about the small details and if they are all going to be wrong. Like, what if they forget I want red roses, and they bring pink ones. PINK. I don't think I could live with that." I started rambling, hearing Zak let out a soft chuckle.

"They aren't going to forget the color roses you want. And if they do, so what? What matters is that I am marrying the love of my life, and beginning a new chapter of my life with her. I don't care if there is flowers at all, you are what matters. As long as you show up, I'm golden."

Zak softly kissed my lips, reassuring me that everything would be okay. Part of my problem is that we just got engaged a few weeks ago, and now the wedding is only two more weeks away. We kind of rushed it, but we both wanted this, we needed it. And with our shows scheduling for the next year, we really didn't have a choice.

"If I come around that corner and you aren't there, I am going to hunt you down and bring you back." I said sternly to him with a smile.

"Well, I'm pretty sure Aaron would get to me first, but you don't have anything to worry about. I am going to be there." Zak said as he kissed my forehead, "Now, how about we go upstairs? And then after, I will get you your favorite dinner."

I pulled Zak's face down to meet my lips in a heated kiss before following him upstairs, my hand intertwined with his.
