Chapter 5
22:00, 19 April 2022"Phil?"
"Yes, it's me Y/N." he responded
"This isn't some type of joke, is it?" I asked concerned
"I truly wish it was. You know I wouldn't have called you if it wasn't that important. Besides, I am allowed to have only one call per month. That's what the law says..."
I didn't say anything. I just wanted to see where this was going to go.
"Look. You have to help me. You are the only one that has evidence against Micheal Hanson. Remember when I mentioned his name a few days ago? Well this ass believes that I am responsible for his daughter's death."
"Jennifer?"
"Exactly."
There was a long awkward pause
"Well, are you?" I asked wanting to hear him say no
"Oh come on! I thought you believed me! Of course I am not!"
"Look Phil.. No offense, but I have never seen you in person. How I am supposed to believe everything you say? I don't even know you."
"I just want you to trust me. I know this whole thing is a mess, but I am with the good guys. I'm on your side." he said reassuringly
"Trust is earned Phil..."
"Y/N...''
"I will help you. But you should know.. If you betray me, it won't end well."
"I won't."

When I ended the call, I searched to find Cleo's mom again, but I couldn't find her anywhere...
"Damn. Where'd she go..."
I continued my search but with no avail. All I was able to see was a crowded place with concerned people.
"Did she go to the police?" a woman asked her friend
"Of course she did. I mean her daughter is missing.. She hasn't contacted her for days." she responded
I was eavesdropping their conversation and I could not but ask.
"You're talking about Cleo?"
Oh God please say no please say no
"Yeah. Hey you that friend of hers? Y/N? An I right?"
Oh crap
"That's correct. Nice to meet you."
I shaked her hand and went on
"Tell me.. What have you heard?"
"Her mom is really worried and that's totally justifiable. Cleo hasn't called her in like a week, when she usually talks to her everyday. I mean, if my child hadn't, I would go crazy too..."
"She went to the police, no?"
"Oh yes. She left a few minutes ago..."
God damnit. Not the police... Jake will be in danger. Plus, I'm not in the mood to deal with Alan.
"Oh fuck.." I murmured
"It was a pleasure meeting you.. I have to go. Duty calls." I said with a smirk
"Have a nice day!" she shouted from faraway with a wave
~~~~~
I was desperately trying to get before Cleo's mom to the police station but nope. Luck is not with me today...
"Yeah. A friend of my daughter's, Cleo came by, and told me that she has gone missing." she explained with tears falling down her cheeks
"Are you sure she is actually friend of hers?" the police officer asked
"Yes, yes. I have seen her in multiple videocalls talking with Cleo."
"Name?" he asked
"Y/N. She was with me few minutes ago."
"I see..." he writed down on his notebook full of curiosity
The police officer saw me opening the door and lifted his eyes on me.
"Hi!" I said with a bright smile
"That's her! Please Y/N, tell mister Alan what you know."
Oh no. Not Alan.
"Alan..." I murmured
Oh shit. it's actually him. I can recognize his voice.
Uhh crap.
"Soo you decided to show up?" Alan opted for a handshake but he didn't get it
"Well, let's not waste our time should we?" he said full of pride and excitement
Oh god...
