Chapter 8: Cabin

18:13, 3 February 2020

Elsa

I'm lost. Lost in a very big place where I have no idea to stay or go to.

What was I thinking?! I wouldn't survive out here! How did I even get here? And how did I even get out of our school? What am I doing to my life?

"I gotta.." I stopped talking when I suddenly remember. My bag! I left it at school when I ran away!

"Stupid!" I cursed under my breath.

How am I gonna go home now? I don't know how and I don't know where I am. I just kept walking and walking. I couldn't see well because my eyes kinda hurt from all the crying I did.

After minutes of walking and walking and walking I felt something cold and wet that fell on my head. Then slowly there came more and more.

Rain! Just what I needed! How helpful! Note the sarcasm here.

Now I'm not just lost, I'm also wet. I hugged myself and proceeded walking.

I could hear the cars zooming out. Boy, are they always in a hurry?

Geez what am I doing and what am I gonna do? Here I am, wondering around the streets alone.

Not long I found myself in a place where no car can be seen. I was lost before and now.... I'm completely lost.

The tears that has just stopped flowing a while ago started falling down again. A very bright flash of light blinded my eyes as I was walking down the street. I narrowed my eyes a bit so I could see a little better.

It was still raining, but no kidding the rain was harder than the rain earlier. The rain and my tears made it even harder to see the what the source of the light might be.

"Is that..." I whispered but not long I was shouting because the source of the light, which was a motorcycle, is heading down to my direction. I had my eyes closed with my hands covering my face as if that was enough to shield me from harm.

"You know you could have just moved out of the way!" The guy, which I assume is the driver, yelled.

I slowly uncovered my eyes and saw the guy, slightly taller than me,  he was wearing a helmet and white shirt that was currently getting wet as he was standing in front of me. Wait, in front of me?

He took off his helmet and I saw.....

"What are you doing here newbie?" He said. It has to be this person. The person I hated most. Jack.

"Look winter-wanna-be it your just gonna make me feel worst why don't you just kill me now? Use you motorcycle to run over me." I said angrily looking down. Then I felt something hit me.

"Hey!" I glared at him.

"Pick that up and put it on you." He ordered while pointing at something. I looked at the direction he was pointing at and saw his helmet.

"Why would I?" I said while my arms were crossed. He just glared at me and he glared back. He started walking away.

Ha! Think you're tough?  You can't even stand glaring. My thoughts were interrupted when something warm covered my head. What the! It's a helmet! His helmet!

"Hop on!" He said turning on the engine of his dark blue motorcycle.

"Why would I?" I repeated the same question I asked him earlier.

"Because if you wouldn't you'll die out here alone." He said coldly.

"I'd rather die than to be with you!" I said taking off his helmet. He just raised his eyebrows and then spoke.

"Where do you live?" He asked looking at me. There was something.......... different.

"Why do you care?" I said looking at his helmet. It was pretty shiny, dark blue, same as his ride and it had a small snowflake printed at the back. I was admiring the design of his helmet until I heard a groan.

"Why are you so difficult?!" I heard Jack yell.

"I don't know." I said out of nowhere.

"Which part?" He said.

"Where I live and why I'm so difficult." I said.

"So you're lost?" He said in a more calm voice.

"Why? Are you gonna laugh if I say yes?" I glared.

"No." He said sadly.

"C'mon, I can help you." He said tapping the back. I hesitantly ride on it.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Just trust me." He replied. I don't know why but it seemed to me that I can trust him, even after all the things he done.

We arrived at an old looking cabin at a park. It was small, unfurnished and looked a bit unstable. It had a sign that includes his name, Hiccup and two other names that wasn't completely clear so I couldn't read it. I guess they were friends and they used to hang out here. I continue to scan around the room. Somehow, this place looks familiar.

"Ahem!" Jack fake coughed and got me out of thoughts.

"You're not here to look around. Now sit!" He said furiously. I looked down and sat on the other side of where he was. He is really confusing me! First he was all sweet and kind, and now, the completely the opposite.

"Where are we?" I asked. But of course, being the abnormal person he is, he simply ignored me. I sighed and examined the room once  more.

Jack

I stared at Elsa who was  looking around. Then I heard her sing..

(Part of me - by Katy Perry)

Days like this I want to drive away

Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade

You chewed me up and spit me out

Like I poison in your mouth

You took my light

You drained me  down

But then she suddenly stopped and hummed the next part of the song. It was getting softer and softer until I couldn't hear it anymore.

I noticed her eyes was already closed. I walked towards her and gave her my shirt, basically I was topless. She suddenly moved, I just walked back to my place before. I closed my eyes and pretend I am sleeping.

Elsa

I  felt something warm  covering my shivering body. I opened my eyes and saw a white shirt on me. I tilted my head slightly to  Jack's direction. Unexpectedly seeing him topless.

His bare chest showing  clearly visible in the dim light we have in this small, unfurnished cabin. I blushed slightly as I look at him. This is kinda awkward, for me that is.

I closed my eyes trying my best to sleep and not to get distracted by the person just across me. Not long I fell asleep, lucky me.

I woke up because of someone shaking me repeatedly. It wasn't harsh, more like lightly shaking me, not like how Anna would do it. I opened my eyes slowly and saw a familiar strand of white hair.

"Do you know how long it took me to wake you up?" Jack said impatiently.

"Not exactly, I was asleep the whole time." I said getting up from the chair. Something fell to my feet the time I got up. A shirt?

"Give me that." Jack said grabbing the shirt. I looked up to him and blushed hard. I forgot he was shirtless the whole time. I looked away quickly and heard him chuckle.

"What's the matter? Can't look at me straight?" He taunted.

"Just get dressed." I said pushing him away. I felt awkward as my hand touched his skin. Like a very weird feeling.

"Whatever. By the way, do you know anyone who knows where you live?" He asked as, I assume, he slipped his shirt on. Wait, Hiccup. Hiccup can help!

"Well, Hiccup does. He drove me home once." I said.

"Great! Hand me your phone." He said while I looked at him weirdly and rolled my eyes at him.

"I left it at school, I ran away remember?" I said.

"Oh, right." He said looking down. He pulled out his phone and dialed Hiccup's number.

"Hey Hic, by any chance can you tell me where Elsa lives?" He said while his phone was near his face. I sat patiently for their conversation to end.

Jack

"Why? Are you planning to court her?" Hiccup said on the other line. I blushed unexpectedly and then rolled my eyes, even though I know he couldn't see it.

"Why would I do that?" I said angrily.

"Because, what would be the other reason you have that you'll call me just to know where she lives?" He said.

Well, I can't tell him I'm with her now, he'll get more weird and say different things. Even weirder, he might think that we have a relationship.

What am I even thinking? Why did I even call him? Why did I even helped this girl? Why am I having a conversation in my head.

"Hey, you still there?" The other line said.

"Yeah, can you just tell me where it is?" I pleaded.

 "Sure..." He said. Yes!

"Only if you tell me why." He added. What?! It was alredy fine till he had to say that.

"Fine. I'm going there because I have to.... ummmmm..." I said thinking of a word.

"Court her?" Hiccup teased. I heard someone scoff and POOF! My phone was out of my hands and now in Elsa's.

"Hic, can you please just tell me. I really need to go home, like, right now. Mama is so worried." She said. NO! Geez, my whole effort on trying hard to not let Hiccup know I'm with her was now useless.

"Okay, Thanks a lot. I promise I'll tell you all the details. You're a big help." Elsa said handing me the phone. Hiccup told me the address and then off we go.

I handed Elsa my helmet and told her to ride. She did but I couldn't feel her hands holding on to me. It's not that I want her to hold me okay? Don't think like that.

"You might wanna hold on." I said. Her hands gripped on to my jacket but it was kinda loose. I grabbed her hand and put it around my waist.

"You'll fall if you don't hold on like this." I said.

 "O-okay." She stammered.

Elsa

We arrived at my house in about 20 or 25 minutes after the whole ride, considering how fast Jack drove. Mama welcomed me with a big hug and kiss when she saw me.

"Where were you. I was so worried. Are you alright? Did anything happen to you?" Mama asked. I giggled and hook my head.

"I'm fine Mama. I just got lost. And my... friend helped me." I said gesturing to Jack. I wasn't even sure if I was considered a friend to him. I think to him, I'm an enemy. But one question still bothers me. Why did he help me?

"Oh thank you so much for helping my daughter. Good thing she had a friend like you." Mama told Jack. I can see Jack is getting uncomfortable now with all what mama was doing. But I noticed him smile.

"It's not a big deal. Besides, I couldn't let her out there by herself." He said with his usual smirk on his face.

"Why don't you come inside and let me serve you some coffee or tea or even cake." Mama said. Cake? Why do we have cake? Oh! That's right! the cake from yesterday when our neighboor welcomed us. Such a nice person.

"No thank you. I'm sure my parents are looking for me now. I just drove Elsa home." Jack said riding to his motorcycle. I walked over to him and gave him his helmet. He smiled and put it on his head.

I feel weird. Like butterflies where in my stomach, no I think they might be bigger. Bats? I think there are bats in my stomach.

The engine roared putting me out of my daydream about bats in my stomach.

"Bye! Come and visit us if you have some time!" Mama waved. I sighed and walked over to her.

"He's such a nice boy." She told me. I laughed. If only you know what that guy really does to me at school you think the opposite.

"I like him for you." Mama said out of no where. I blushed and looked at her weirdly. I hate that guy! Why would I be with him?! I repeat: If only you knew mama. If only you knew.

"Come on in dear, you still need to change your clothes." She said while we started to walk towards the door.

"Yeah. Sure." I said hugging myself. This day was truly full of surprises. There was a lot of puzzle, And I'm glad I was able to solve it. Or did I?
