Chapter 3: Bookworms

18:12, 3 February 2020

Jack

I was so pissed at the girl I met at the school bus.

I haven't seen her around before, maybe a new student. Maybe she is new because she would've stepped out when I told her to.

But she needs to know who she's dealing with. I got to teach her a lesson to never mess with Jack Frost.

The Jack Frost.

I stepped down the bus looking pissed as ever. I can still hear the whispering of the students about the scene earlier today.

"Will you just get over it already?" I yelled at them making them all shut up. "Good." I said walking towards my locker.

They all moved away as I walked pass them. I saw my best friend at his locker near mine reading the same old book he reads.

"Hey Jack!" He said looking away from his book.

His name is Hiccup. Great name right? Other kids used to bully him because of that, and I stood up for him.

And eventually became one of the bullies.

He was from Scotland like my other friend Merida DunBroch.

"What is it with you and that book?" I said with my eyebrows furrowed in anger.

"What happened this time?" He said bored asking the same old question he asks me every time I'm pissed.

"There's this girl that -" before I could finish he cut me off.

"Girl?" He asked. I sighed and looked at him lazily.

"Yes a girl, now if you want me to continue don't interrupt." I said impatiently.

He just nodded for his answer. I told him the story then he started laughing.

"That's it? That's your reason?" He said still laughing.

The others walked in and joined us. At our group, there was four members, that's why we we're called "The Big Four". There's Punzie, Hiccup, Merida and lastly me.

"Hey! What did I miss?" Punzie said.

"Jack was humiliated at the bus." Hiccup said trying to conceal his laugh so he could continue. "By a girl!" He said finally bursting out in a fit of laughter.

"What?! No way!" Punzie said.

"I was not humiliated." I glared.

"Then what do you call it?" Hiccup snapped.

"Pssh, whatever. It's not like it's a big deal." I muttered.

"It is. No one ever stood up from the great and powerful Jack Frost." She replied with her eyes twinkling like stars.

"So, what did the great ol' powerful Jack Frostbutt do?" Mer said.

Frostbutt?! Why I outta...

Wait, what did I do? Nothing I guess.

But I swear I'll get her back. Not 'back' as in get her back to me. We aren't even together!

What I meant was...

It's payback time.

Hiccup

Before anything else, I'm going to introduce myself.

I'm Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III.

Part of the famous group called "The Big Four". Consist of four members namely Rapunzel, Merida, Jack and me.

All of us were well-known that's why our group was much more known than other groups.

Punzie was known for her amazing talents like painting, dancing, singing and many more.

Merida was known because of her awesome skills at sports. Funny thing was she is kinda boyish. She never accepted suitors even though she had so many.

Jack was plainly being himself, arrogant, snobbish and looks like he hates the whole world. But still adored by many, girls that is. But he never noticed anyone.

Being a heartthrob he never experienced fighting a girl since no one dared to do so. This was the first time.

I'm well-known because of my unimaginable intelligence that nobody had topped yet. Ever since I was a freshman I was always the most advanced one in this school. It's like no one even cared to read a book, just me.

Sometimes I wonder if they even want to study.

Back to the topic about earlier.

I knew that it's a new girl who was the one that stood up on Jack, knowing the girls from here they all adore Jack and don't stand up from him.

But what bothers me is how come she had the guts to do such thing.

Usually girls would almost faint if they see him, okay that was a bit over acting but.....

This girl is really interesting if you ask me.

"Hey Hic, you going to join in or what?" Mer said talking about teasing Jack on earlier.

I chuckled and just started walking.

I opened the book I was reading to the page I stopped.

I can hear their voices as they teased Jack. I didn't mind the noise, I must admit they're really loud but I'm used to it.

We kept on walking till we went to our separate ways to class.

Nearing my way to our classroom I bumped into someone causing me to drop my book.

"Oh, I'm sorry I wasn't looking my way." The girl said picking up two books.

I couldn't see her face because she was looking downwards.

Finally looking up, I saw her beautiful face. Platinum-blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin.

I smiled at her as she handed the book. I got my book from her hands and she also smiled.

"I'm sorry for I too was not looking." I answered sounding professional with my fake British accent.

"Are you from England?" She asked.

"Actually, I'm from Scotland." I answered without the accent. She just nodded with an o shape in her mouth.

"You don't have the accent?" She asked another question.

"Thankfully, no. But my friend does." I replied. I was quite lucky to not have the accent because it was a bit funny.

"By the way, I'm Elsa." She said while extending her arm.

"Hiccup." I said shaking our hands.

"Newbie?" I asked and she just nodded in response for my question.

We both entered the classroom still chatting.

She's really interesting. She is not like any other students here.

She's a student with high standards and is really persistent about studying. Not most student likes the subject history you know.

We sat beside each other so we could continue our little chat. Our conversation was about books, obviously.

"Have you read about 'The book of dragons '?" She asked.

"Yes, actually it's what I'm reading right now." I said bringing out my dragon book. I heard her giggle.

"We switched." She said showing me a book that has my initials on it.

I glanced at the book I was holding. It was the same dragon book like mine but it was a bit lighter in comparison.

I noticed a small snowflake on the side with the letter 'E' printed on it.

"Is this yours?" I asked. She nodded with a smile on her face.

"You like dragons too?" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah, I'm already at page 153. What about you?" She asked. Wow, she's a fast reader. She is already halfway through the book.

"I'm still at page 59. Do you always read it?" I asked. I'm just interested because I've never seen anyone else read it. Whenever I talk about it they always say they're not interested.

"It's actually one of my favorites. They're full of fascinating creatures. Sometimes I wonder if they're real." She said.

"I do too. I sometimes wish I had a dragon." I paused to think of the possible appearance of the dragon called "Night Fury".

"I'd like to have a deadly Nader. They're known for their loyalty." She said.

"I'd like a night fury." I said proudly.

"The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself." We said in unison. We both looked at each other and laughed.

"Here's your book." She handed me my book and we exchanged.

"Nice meeting you by the way." She said.

"You too. It is nice meeting someone who also appreciates books like these." I said waving the book.

"Yeah, finally found someone who's also a bookworm." She smiled.

"I guess we can call ourselves bookworms." I said letting out a chuckle while she giggled softly.

Elsa

The feeling of being friendly is very new to me.

The reason I was being friendly was because of Anna, she wanted me to be more "social" so I'll have more friends.

What part of antisocial does she not understand?

But I guess she was just hoping I'll have friends in school, but judging by the action I've done earlier in the bus, I certainly will not have any more friends than Hic.

He's the only person who understands me.
