Chapter 40 (The Final Chapter)

*Eight months later*

Kendall and I had bought a house together. I told my landlord I would like to move out and that if my mother were to send money his way, to send me the money for the rent. We were moving in, and I was huge. Kendall had the baby's room done weeks ago and while Kendall had the movers move in our belongings, he showed me the nursery. We walked upstairs and then he had me close my eyes.

"Closed?" He asked for reassurance. I giggled.

"Yes, yes, they're closed." I told him. He took my hand and lead me through the doorway.

"Okay, now open." Kendall said shortly. I slowly opened my eyes to a pastel yellow room. There were flowers and ducklings on the walls in light pastel colors to decorate our baby girls room.

"Oh my gosh, Kendall it's beautiful." I told him. A giant white crib sat in the middle of the room on a white carpet. The changing table was lined with little white bunnies, and then on the walls were pictures Kendall and I had taken for our baby announcements. There was a white over sized rocking chair in the corner as well. It was a beautiful place for such a beautiful blessing.

"Do really you like it?" He asked smiling ear to ear. I nodded and put my arms around my stomach.

"It's everything a mom could ever dream of for her daughter. Thank you." I told him as he walked behind me and placed his hands over mine.

"No problem, babe. You are worth it. She is worth. You both are my life now." He said. He then let go and grabbed one of my hands. "I also have this for her." He walked me across the room to the window where light yellow curtains covered the white painted sill. He pulled back the curtains and then pointed at the window sill. On the window sill was a quote carved in the wood professionally. It read: "Everything has changed since I met youAnd I hoped that I have changed your whole world too"

I read it quietly.

"Babe, what is this?" I asked him looked at it. He took a finger under my chin and had me look him in the eye. I searched the green glory which was his eyes and came up at a loss. I didn't know what was going on.

"Through fear and doubt, I'd never let you down." He said softly while his eyes never broke contact with mine. He then took my hand and then slowly lowered to one knee. I covered my mouth. He was proposing?! Now?! Here?! I felt tears falling already and he hadn't even said a word. "'Everything has changed since I met you, And I hoped that I have changed your whole world too' can be taken many ways Sophia. It can be for a brand new baby girl coming into the world soon, or it can be for two people becoming one. I hoped my whole life for someone like you and I feel like what's a better time to tell you I want to be with you for the rest of my life than weeks before our baby is due and we finally finished her room. She'll grow and look at those words, eventually seeing pictures of us," he paused as a flash went off. Gabby and James seemed to magically appear at the door with cameras as I started laughing and crying. "In this spot and she'll know that as she has grown, so has our love. She'll find the love we have for one another is going to remain that way, until those words start to fade away." He said smiling and glancing at the deeply carved words in the wood. "I want you, Sophia, the mother of my unborn daughter, to marry me, once and for all when our baby girl can join us for the memories we will make that day. So please, do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Kendall asked. I cried, and quite hard.

"I can't complete my list." I whispered. Kendall's eyebrows raised.

"What?" He asked confused. I smiled and sniffed.

"My list. We completed everything, except one." I said. James cleared his throat.

"Uh, Soph, he's proposing, and you're worried about your list from a year ago?" He whispered. I shook my head.

"I'm happy!" I told Kendall. He stood still confused by my words. "I'm happy I didn't finish it. Because if I had, I wouldn't be here right now." I said staring at him and taking his hands in mine. He focussed on our hands for awhile and tried to remember what it was we didn't accomplish. Then it hit him.

"To fall in love even if you know it's not for forever." He said. He was confused.

"I'm in love, because I didn't play it safe. I'm in love but it's for eternity." I said wrapping my arms around his neck. Kendall understood then.

"So happy you didn't play it safe." He said. He then leave down and kiss me.

"Yes." I said.
