A few days later... 

To be completely honest these past few days with Jace have been so fun. After he got that black eye for me we've been closer.

It's Saturday. Witch means I have no plans. I've always hated the weekends.

I slowly get out of my bed. It's hot outside today so I decide to put on some jean shorts and T-shirt. It's never really cold in California. I honestly don't know why I'm always wearing jeans and hoodies. I guess it's just a habit.

I leave my hair down and slip on my white vans. I grab my phone and run downstairs and into the kitchen.

My mom looks at me and smiles "You look really pretty today."

I smile. "Thanks."

"So today I'm going out with a few friends and Dad is at work. He will be working late today. So you're free to have some friends over or go some where as long as you keep me updated on what you're doing." My mom says.

I nod. "I will."

My mom grabs her purse and kisses my cheek. "See ya later sweetie." she says walking out the front door.

As soon as I hear her car pull out of the drive way I sigh.

My day of boredom beings now.

I'm probably just gonna read all day. As soon as I get up and start walking upstairs to my room, I hear the door bell.

Ugh. Probably just the mail man.

I quickly run to the door and open it. No ones there.

"Hello?" I ask.

I walk outside to see if they went to the back door. No sign of anyone. As soon as I turn back around to go back inside my house I jump in fear.

"Fancy seeing you here."

I burst out laughing. "What the fuck Jace! Don't you ever scare me like that again!"

Jace smiles. "Oh my god! Sam the good girl just said a bad word! Someone call the grammar police before she says another politically incorrect word!"

I playfully punch him in the arm "Shut up."

I sit down on my front porch and Jace sits next to me.

"So where's you glasses, hoodie and jeans?" Jace says teasingly.

I shrug."My glasses are in my room and I decided to dress differently today."

Jace smiles. "Wow. You actually took my advice on trying new things."

I laugh. "Don't get all full of yourself just because I took your advice."

Jace grins. "Whatever."

I tilt my head. "What are you even doing here? I thought you'd be busy with all your cool friends on a nice Saturday like this?"

Jace smiles."Well, I thought I was busy with one of my cool friends right now."

"You're not talking about me. Are you?"

Jace grins at me and stands up "Oh, but I am talking about you."

"Well, I don't know where you got the impression that I was cool from." I say laughing a little.

"Look, Sam your my friend and I really like you. It's a Saturday and I have no plans. Well, I could hang out with a lot of other people. But honestly, I blew them all off for you because you're the only person I know who doesn't try too hard to be better than everyone. You make mistakes and laugh at yourself and I like that. So yeah. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, wanna hang out today?" Jace says holding out his hand for me to grab.

I honestly don't know what to say.

Speechless, I grab his hand and he helps me up.

"Wait before we go let me go grab my glasses!"

Jace groans. "You don't need those."

"Yes I do."

"No you don't." He snaps back.

I take a deep breath. "Fine. Just let me go close my front door and grab my phone."

"Don't you mean grab your phone and then close your front door?" Jace says smiling.

I roll my eyes and run into my house and grab my phone and house keys. I lock the door and get inside Jace's car.

•AT THE MALL•

"Sooo what do you wanna do? " Jace asks.

I laugh. "I don't know. It's only like my 4th time going to the mall."

Jace smiles. "Yeah, I forgot about that. You wanna go to Starbucks? Every girl loves Starbucks."

"I've never been there. So I guess I'll try it." I say sheepishly.

I trail behind Jace as he leads me to the Starbucks in the mall.

As soon as I get there. I notice a different vibe. There's girls giggling and smiling. I'm not used to this.

We stand in line. Jace turns to me and smiles. "So what do you want?"

I look at the menu and squint my eyes. I can't see that far away without my glasses.

"I can't see anything without my glasses Jace."

"Sorry for making you leave your glasses at your house, but to make it up for you I'll order you something." Jace says happily.

Jace turns to the Lady behind counter. "Surprise Me" he says winking.

Soon the lady hands me a pink drink and Jace a brown drink. I dig in my pocket for my money but Jace stops me.

"I'll pay." Jace says blushing a little.

He's blushing 3hi2wnw.

"You don't have to." I say.

"Sam, I'm paying and you're not. Get that threw all your smartness" Jace says giggling.

I smile and take sip of my drink. It taste like cotton candy.

Jace pays the lady and turns to me.

"Soooo how's your first Starbucks drink?" Jace asks nudging my arm with his elbow.

I take another sip. "It's pretty good."

I walk over to a table at Starbucks but Jace pulls me away from it.

I give him a confused look. "So I'm guessing you don't wanna sit down?"

"Yeah. I don't like sitting in Starbucks." Jace says looking around.

"Why are you looking around?" I say.

"Eh. It's just, this is sorta kinda Mindy's favorite place in the mall and I really don't wanna be bothered with her today." Jace scratching the back of his head.

I nod. "Yeah, she's a real pain."

"So can we maybe just like walk around the mall and drink our Starbucks?" Jace asks sweetly.

I smile and nod.

We leave Starbucks and go up to the second floor.

"What do you wanna do now?" Jace asks.

I look over to my right and point to the store right next to me. "I wanna do that."

"The arcade?" Jace says.

"I've never been to one, so why not?" I say.

"Okay prepare to be creamed in all games in that place." Jace says dragging me into the arcade.

As soon as we walk in the the arcade we throw our Starbucks cups away and Jace gets 30 dollars worth of quarters.

The first game we go to is this two player shooting game where you have to rescue humans from zombies. Jace shot more zombies than me and I lost.

"Sam, I think we've played all the games in the arcade." Jace says laughing.

Before responding to Jace I search the arcade for a game we haven't played yet. I find one and drag Jace up to it.

"We haven't played this one." I say.

"Dance Mania?" Jace says shocked.

"Yep. I wanna play. Are you afraid to lose to a girl?"

Jace laughs. "I've beat you in all the other games, what makes you think I won't beat you in this one?"

I lean closer to Jace so are faces are just inches apart. "Do I smell a challenge?" I ask.

"You smell a challenge alright." Jace says.

Jace walks up to the machine and puts the quarters inside.

We take are places on the dance pad of the game and it's starts. Determined to win the game I follow every move perfectly and I end up winning.

"Wow. Your extremely good at that." Jace says out of breath.

I laugh. "It was easy. Wanna go again?"

Jace shakes his head. "No I don't. Have you ever taken any dance classes?"

"Nope. I'm just a natural I guess" I say.

"Yeah I guess you are. We should probab-

I yank Jace behind a game a machine.

"What was that for?" Jace yells.

"Did you see that?" I whisper.

"See what? Why are you whispering?"

"Billy was out there by the pac man game!" I whisper yell.

Jace groans "Oh...."

I punch him in the arm. "Hey! Don't "Oh" me! This is serious. What do I do?"

Jace rolls his eyes. "Go talk to him!"

"I can't just go talk to him I don't even-

"Just be yourself..." Jace says staring at me with his big brown eyes.

I nod. "Okay I will!"

I walk over to Billy.

"Hey."

Billy turns to me and smiles. "What's up?"

"Oh nothing just hanging out." I say.

"Same. You came to the arcade by yourself?" Billy asks.

"This is actually my first time coming here. I'm here with Jace." I say laughing a little.

Billy nods "Yeah. Jace is a cool guy."

I turn to Jace and smile. "Yeah. He is pretty cool..."

Billy smiles. "So you and Jace are a thing now?"

I shake my head. "No. We're just REALLY great friends"

Billy grins. "Well, that's nice to know."

What does he mean by that?!

I laugh. "Yeah..."

"So Samantha I was wondering if maybe you wanted to-

Some guy walks up to Billy and whispers something in his ear.

"Sorry Samantha I gotta go. See ya around." Billy says smiling and walking away with that guy.

I wonder what he was wondering?

I feel an arm swing around my shoulder. I look up and see Jace.

"Soooo how'd it go?" Jace asks.

"I don't know. He was about to say something but then he had to go..." I say in a disappointed tone.

"Well, I'm sure he'll tell you eventually." Jace says smiling.

I nod and we walk out of the arcade.

•AT SAMANTHA'S HOUSE•

By the time we get to my house it's 9pm.

"Hey Jace wanna come in and watch Netflix or something?" I say.

Jace smirks. "Netflix and Chill?"

I playfully punch him in the arm. "Not today Satan."

He laughs and we get out of his car and walk into my house. My parents still aren't home yet.

We take off our shoes then I lead Jace into my room and he sits on the bed. I sit next to him and turn on the TV.

"What movie do you wanna watch?" I ask.

"Umm, I'm really in the mood for some Disney." Jace smiles.

I laugh. "How about Wreak it Ralph? It's my favorite Disney movie."

Jace grins "Same."

I turn on Wreck it Ralph and lay down on my bed. Jace lays down next to me and wraps his arm around me. I rest my on his chest and listen to his heart beat.

Wow. I know Jace is my only friend. But after today, I'm pretty sure I can classify him as my best friend.

Half way through the movie I fall asleep in Jace's arms.
