PREFACE

Hello guys!

I just finished watching High Potential this past April, and I've been completely obsessed ever since. It's hands down one of the best series I've ever seen—thanks to its clever storytelling, unique premise, and the perfect mix of heart, humor, and suspense. I love how it effortlessly slips in fascinating trivia and valuable bits of knowledge with each case.

When I watched the pilot episode, I immediately saw the undeniable chemistry between Morgan and Karadec. Their witty banter and clashing personalities instantly gave off that "partners-in-crime" vibe in the best possible way. As the series progressed, even within the first few episodes, I already felt that there was something deeper building between them, a connection that hinted at a profound and meaningful future. 

What I absolutely loved the most was the slow-burn romance of Morgan and Karadec that the writers and directors so cleverly weaved into their dynamic. You better be familiar on all the little moments I picked up from the first season—the glances, the tension, the unspoken understanding, and adding even more of those slow-burn gems that I want to see in the upcoming seasons (because yes, we're manifesting and claiming more seasons beyond just one), and I'm totally here for it! 

That's what inspired me to write this fanfiction. To give shape to the story living in my head, one that I extremely hope unfolds in the series itself. I truly love these two characters, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that future seasons will finally bring them together.

For this story, I'm anchoring it in everything that happened during Season 1—except for Episode 13. I've deliberately left out the events of that finale because, like many of you, I'm still wondering what will happen next. I wanted to preserve the excitement of the unknown and not get ahead of what Season 2 might bring, so I chose to end my plot excluding that point.

Also, just a heads-up to fans of Morgan and Tom's pairing, unfortunately, you won't find that here. I genuinely liked Tom's sweet character in Season 1, but I couldn't entertain the growing conflict between Morgan's love interests. Ultimately, I saw Tom more as a threat to Morgan and Karadec's relationship. So in this story, I've chosen to focus solely on Morgan and Karadec, to give them the space they need to let that slow burn fully simmer.

Lastly, one of my goals in writing this story is to highlight crime cases, staying true to what makes High Potential so captivating. While I can't promise the most brilliant or realistic cases, I'll do my best to weave in scenarios inspired by the many legal dramas and crime series I've watched over the years. Some of them may feel familiar, but I'll put my all into making them engaging and meaningful. Please bear with me if not every detail feels perfectly polished or mind-blowing. I'm doing this out of love for the genre and the characters.

So, to all my fellow High Potential and Morgadec fans, I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I hope it feeds your minds and hearts with a much-needed satisfaction as we all root for Morgan and Karadec's slow-burning connection to thrive.
