Day 61- Stranger
23:18, 3 January 2017
The sun rays drifted through the see-through curtains and the alarm faintly rang beside me. I pulled up my sheets and tried to fall into the pit of oblivion again, however, I couldn't.
I switched off my alarm and just stared at the ceiling above me. Mind blank, heart beating regularly, stomach growling, and head slightly pinching.
I lazily got up from my bed and looked outside the window. The streets were empty, except that there was a dog searching for something in the trash can.
The sky was blue, well, specifically pale blue. Though, it was a cloudless day. Quite a beautiful day actually...I could hear the birds chirping.
There appeared an unclear smile on my face. A smile that wasn't demanded but needed.
Just then there was a knock on the door, "Erza, it's me," Gray yelled and opened the door before I could give permission, "Morning."
"Morning, Gray."
"Did you sleep well?"
"Maybe...and you?"
"Maybe? Why just a maybe? I slept well, though, thanks for asking," He approached me with two cups of coffee tightly grasped in his hands. He handed one to me and asked in a signal if he could sit on the bed beside me. I nodded and clenched the cup as I felt the warmness piercing though my dry hands.
"It's...It's a long story, Gray."
"I like long stories."
"No you don't."
"Yeah, well, I don't but since it's you who is telling, I might just listen to it."
"Hm..."
"Erza, what's wrong? Did that Jelly jerk do something again?" He sipped his coffee.
"Actually—yeah, that Jelly jerk did something..."
"Hm?"
--
"WHAT THE--?!" Gray jolted up with a flabbergasted expression, "HE IS LIVING WITH ANOTHER GIRL?!"
"Well...I'm not really sure if he's living with her but--"
"But when a guy hugs a girl so gently and delicately, it does mean they are frickin living together!"
I bit my lips and stared at the half-drank coffee cup.
"Seriously, Erza, that guy is no good for you! I can take care of you better than him! Why can't you see that dammit?! He's hurting you in every way yet you have abundant feelings for him!"
"There might be some reason--"
"You can't always find a reason for everything, Erza!"
"There is a reason for everything, Gray!" I yelled back.
"You won't ever change, will you, Erza?" Gray clicked his tongue.
"I love Jellal and I'm sure he has a good reason, Gray. I can't get to conclusions that quickly."
"Sure, go ahead, ask him. Get your answer but don't come crying to me then if you don't hear what you want to hear," He marched out of the room and banged the door close.
I rolled my eyes, placed the cup on the side table and let out a deep, exaggerating sigh.
"Don't come crying to me then if you don't hear what you want to hear."
Tch...what does he mean by that...? How can he think so low of Jellal? He won't ever betray me, right? My hearts telling me that there must be a reason so there is.
I just need to meet him now.
I need answers to my doubtful questions.
--
"Thank you once again Freed, I promise I will make it up to you."
"No problem, Erza. You can always count on me."
"I will see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah, have fun."
"You too."
I disconnected the call and quickly ran towards Jellal's house. The footpath was quite crowded today, however, that won't stop me from reaching my one true love.
On second thought, though, does true love really exist?
I can't help but feel uncertain about it after all that has happened and is happening...
"Oi, watch where you're going lady!" Someone shouted and I confusedly looked behind, only realizing that a bike was about to bump into me but dodged.
"Sorr--" When right then, I felt a sudden force pull me by my wrist. I couldn't control myself and felt my body falling down as I unconsciously closed my eyes.
I noticed soon after that I had stopped breathing. The movement around me was quiet, and so was the stillness of my body. I let out a tiny sigh and winked open on eye but what I saw in front of me, made me freeze in my place like a solid rock. As if I had seen the true form of Medusa.
A face as beautiful and carved as that of a sculpture. A smile as amused and perfect, the eyes as reflective as the marbles and the proportions mindfully crafted.
"Are you okay?" His serene tone passed through my ears in slow waves of magnificence.
I slowly nodded.
"Then, will you get up from me already?"
"Eh?" I slightly looked down and grasped the situation in hand. I was on top of him, however, my hands were on either sides as if I was pinning him to the ground.
Swiftly, I pulled myself up from him and backed away a few long steps in case he had some weird thoughts in his mind already.
"I-I'm sorry..." I bowed deeply. He took his time to get up and dusted himself a little before unpredictably, pushing forth his hand, "No need to apologize, I'm Zeref by the way."
He gestured me with his eyes to shake his hand but I didn't. So he took them back anyway and scratched the back of his head, "I'm uh...I'm sorry to suddenly pull you like that, I didn't mean to. I actually thought you were someone else..."
"Oh..."
"And also you were about to bump into someone real hard..."
"Thank you," I bowed again.
"No, no, no need to thank me," He chuckled.
"Well then..." I turned around to leave when I finally realized that I was getting late.
However, I felt my hands intertwining with slender fingers of bones and once more, a kind of gentle force pulling me and pushing me to the wall.
My eyes shot open as the stranger was close to me once more; hands tightly glued to my side, and face inches away from me.
No one seemed to care what happens in the alley. It was a place no one was bothered about. But I took my chances and about my mouth to shout when unexpectedly, he placed a hand on my mouth.
"I know this is too sudden for you, but..." He cracked a smirk, "I am no stranger to you, Erza Scarlet."
TO BE CONTINUED.
