The mirror- Fitz's POV
23:09, 2 February 2021A/N: Hello! I wrote this because I haven't seen many Sotam fanfics compared to most of the other ships. As this is my first fanfic, and I haven't read Lodestar in awhile, please forgive my mistakes! Enjoy! (I found the mirror online.)
I PROMISE THIS WILL NOT BE A BASHING FITZ BOOK. HE DOES NOT DESERVE BASHING. SO IF YOU HATE FITZ, GO AWAY. Some people relate to him. He was mad for EXTREMELY VALID REASONS. I don't like my family personally, but I would get mad if something happened to the people I actually care about. Would I express it? Heck yeah! Fitz was close to his dad, and then HE BREAKS. And Sophie isn't getting her game together fast enough in Fitz's perspective.
If you have to be perfect, you also can't show anything that could be shown as negative, because then people will hate you. That results in bottling up a lot of things. And when it explodes, it explodes.
"Then release the pressure. Talk with people. DO this, do that."
I don't think you get it.
We DO.
But at the same time, WE CAN'T.
Society hates you anyways.
And when you have to be perfect, you have to be perfect or, at the very least, you're ungrateful for your position in society.
And if you STILL don't get it, GO AWAY. I MEAN IT. You have no empathy, NOT EVEN FOR A FICTIONAL CHARACTER.
I DON'T CARE IF I GET LESS READS. GO AWAY. >:(
There. A flash of blonde caught my eye, and I turned to see Sophie peering at a particular mirror.
We were in the Silver Towers, looking for something, anything to bring down the Neverseen.
We were no longer in the dark about the Lodestar symbol, thanks to Dex, Biana, and Tam, but now we needed to figure out how to use it.
So far, all we were doing was staring at a mirror. Well, everyone else was looking at the mirror. I wasn't. It was distracting, with all the clarity.
I was really just looking at Sophie.
She was stunning, golden hair, with brown eyes and flecks of gold in her irises. I couldn't help but smile fondly. It was amazing that I had a girl like that in my life.
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. We can talk about this later Fitz. I mentally chided myself. Right now, we're about to bring down the Neverseen. Focus on this.
And with that, I reached out to Sophie telepathically. She was looking worried and a little haggard.
Hey Sophie. You alright? I asked her.
Yeah. Just worried, that's all. She reached up to pull out an eyelash.
Don't worry. We're about to bring down the Neverseen. Keefe will be fine. And then we can finally talk about that secret you've been keeping from me.
Sophie blushed. Oh, she was adorable.
Uh... Yeah. That secret... You sounded like your dad for a second there.
I did? Oh. The "don't worry" part. Hah. Like father, like son, I guess.
Yeah. I just wish... She stared up into my eyes, and I gazed back down on her. Deep pools of chocolate brown, and all those little islands of gold, in sea of worry.
Wish what? I asked gently.
Wish that we didn't have to worry about saving the world.
I smiled, hoping that it would reach my eyes.
If anyone can do it, it's us.
With that, I reached for her hand, and squeezed it tightly.
You really think so?
I really do. And I have a feeling that we're just about to make a breakthrough. Together.
I held up our clasped hands and clinked our thumb rings together. Sophie smiled, and it almost reached her eyes this time.
~~~~~~~~Time shift~~~~~~~~
Biana blinked. "I've been staring at this mirror for hours. My eyes are dying, and we're still nowhere closer to discovering the Neverseen's hideouts...."
I could see understanding dawn on my sister's face.
"Mirrors reflect, so...." She broke off, and dashed to the mirror right behind us. We all followed eager for a distraction from all the light it was producing.
A/N: I don't actually remember all the details, so bear with me here.
My mom glared at the mirror.
"This is the only mirror in here that makes me feel old."
Councillor Emery nodded.
"It multiples shadows."
Tam frowned, studying the mirror.
"I wonder if..." His face scrunched up, and he frowned in concentration.
"I can feel the shadows, but I can't do anything with them..." He said, waving his hands in front of the mirror.
Sophie stepped up.
"Want me to enhance you?"
Tam nodded, and Sophie slid off a glove, clasping Tam's hand.
I blinked. I had almost forgotten about Sophie's Enhancing ability.
Tam's face cleared and he gasped.
"Wow. It feels so.... Tangible."
With that, he twisted his hand, pulling the shadows into a spiral.
A dark, shadowy form appeared, and Tam hesitantly reached out towards it, pulling Sophie with him.
Sophie visibly tensed up.
"Sophie," I started.
Stepping out towards her, I reached for her other hand. And missed. They were gone.
A/N: Oh no! This is totally inaccurate but vaguely resembles Lodestar! I know. It's been a couple years since I read it. I forgot the mirror names, who spoke, and everything. And Fitz didn't grab Sophie's hand in time! What happens next?! How much is going to change? Everything I tell you.... MUUWWWAAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!
I'll update soon. Hopefully. :)
