What We Don't Say
14:13, 26 October 2025By now, the silence between them had become a third presence in the room.
Not uncomfortable. Not cold.
But charged.
Everything meant something now. Every glance. Every breath. Every near-touch. Like they were moving around each other in a language built from everything unsaid.
Kole was the first to break it that morning-with a joke, of course.
"You hog the sheets," he muttered, brushing sleep from his eyes.
Jackson, who'd barely slept at all, looked over from where he stood at the open window. "You talk in your sleep."
Kole grinned. "You like it."
Jackson's jaw tightened-but his eyes betrayed him. They flickered down to Kole's bare legs under the thin blanket. Just a second too long.
Neither of them acknowledged it.
---
That afternoon, they arrived at the fan meet in Seoul.
It was supposed to be a casual joint appearance-Q&A, a few games, a couple of on-stage interviews. The team wanted it lowkey. Relaxed. Couple-coded but not overt.
They hadn't counted on the fans being rabidly invested.
"Kole!" a girl screamed from the crowd. "Are you and Jackson dating for real?"
The host laughed nervously. "We all want to know! The chemistry is undeniable."
Jackson's smile was calm, perfectly polished. Kole's too. But their knees brushed under the table.
Kole leaned into the mic. "What do you think?"
The crowd erupted.
"Okay, okay," the host said, "final fan request-Kole, give Jackson a little kiss on the cheek, just for the fans?"
Jackson stiffened.
Kole turned to him with a lopsided smirk. "You game?"
It was playful. It was safe.
But when he leaned in and pressed his lips to Jackson's cheek, the whole world tilted.
His mouth lingered.
Too long.
He could smell Jackson's cologne. Feel the tension in his shoulders. Hear his breathing change.
And when he pulled back, Jackson's ears were a deep, unmistakable red.
Kole smiled for the cameras.
But inside, something clenched. Tight.
---
Backstage, the energy between them was radioactive.
Kole reached for a water bottle. Jackson was already holding it out to him.
Their fingers touched. Stayed.
"Your ears turned red," Kole teased, too softly.
Jackson stared at him. "You kissed me like it meant something."
Kole's smirk faded.
Jackson stepped closer. "Did it?"
Kole didn't answer.
But he didn't look away.
---
That night, back at the apartment, Jackson left his door cracked open.
Kole stood in the hallway, staring.
He didn't enter.
But he didn't walk away, either.
