ELI STOP IM SCARRED

Real life

As soon as I get Eli's texts, I start pulling out all of my bathing suits, trying to find a blue one. Why she told me to wear blue? No stinkin clue.

But eventually I find one, slip it on, and start packing a bag full of clothes to change into and other things I might need. Then I hop in my car, and drive on over.

I can hear it before I see it. Blaring music and flashing lights. And the ever darkening sky just makes everything a little more wild. I grin, this is my kinda scene.

Though when I approach the black gates, and finally get to see, there's way less people than I imagined.

The floor around the pool is a dark gray, almost black. Pairing nicely with the dark brown wood walls of the house. As for the actual pool itself, the water is a cool, deep blue. Darker than the pool water I'm used to seeing, and it almost matches my swimsuit perfectly.

I open the gate, Eliana immediately spotting me. She saunters over, "OH MY GOSH YOU LOOK AMAZING. That color looks SO good on you." For some reason she can't stop giggling, the evil kind. And I'm growing very suspicious.

"Thank you!! You look jaw dropping gorgeous in green! So stop acting like a Disney villain before I force you to swap bikinis."  I laugh along with her.

She cheekily smiles, "come on come on I made sure there's lots of snacks for us." And with that, we're trampling inside the house to the snack bar, where Sunday joins us.

Demitra's pov

Aurora steps onto the patio, and I forget to exhale the hitch of air I just breathed in. Fuck. You. Eliana.

She starts laughing at whatever my sister said, making something low in my stomach start churning. Her head tilting back, and her ponytail swaying lightly. For a second, I wonder how her hair would feel between my fingers, if I were to pull it, once it's wet and heavy from the pool.

Fuck. I think, dragging my eyes down back to pool water, but they immediately latch on to her fingertips. Trailing down her shoulder as she adjusts the strap on her bikini. I can't stop staring, and I hate it. I hate her.

My body automatically relaxes into the wall behind me, as I see Eliana dragging her off. I let go of the breath, good, get her out of my sight.

A distraction is just what I need, so after snatching a seltzer from the cooler, I go up to one of my friends on her phone.

"Hey!!" I say with a smile when she looks up, her face immediately warming into a welcome.

"Demi! How are you?" Lacy says and rolls over onto her back.

"I'm great—"  but it's short lived because, think of the devil, Aurora comes prancing back.

She's on the opposite side of the pool, a gold, blue, and teal anklet above her right foot. Her smooth, tan skin glowing in the new moonlight. I grind my teeth as I notice every little detail about her. Feel them getting ingrained in my memory like the press of my teeth.

Tangling my hands in my hair, I slide the hair tie from my wrist, wrapping my curls into a bun. To get this heat off my neck.

I mean to get back to Lacy. But that gets thrown out the window when one of the only guys here approaches Aurora, scratching his neck as he grins at her. I see her lean in, lips mouthing an "oh yeah?". He nods and whispers something in her ear that makes her gasp, and then giggle.

My nails dig into the cool can, that I've forgotten to even open. It's stinging coldness doing nothing to stop my body growing hotter and hotter.

her brown eyes narrow as she looks at him, and holding a challenge as she quickly looks away,

Locking right with mine.

The rise and fall of my chest suddenly gets intensified, as I watch hers go up and down. Up and down. Her eyes widen, dragging over my entire body. My breathing seems to stop, and I feel myself forgetting anyone else exists. The music, the voices, even Lacy's laughter— everything is drowned out by the silent grasp our eyes hold. She blinks and looks away, but not before I see the flicker of nervousness in her gaze.

God, I hate her. I hate her laugh, the way it makes everyone lean closer, as if they can't bear to miss it. I hate her tan, her stupid anklet, and how she seems to shine under this dull moonlight. I hate how badly I want so see if her skin feels as warm as it looks.

Aurora fucking Sturniolo. In my favorite color.
