"Xiao Zhao..." Da Qing patted Zhao MingAn's shoulders only to be hit by an unfamiliar scent again. "Really... What smell is this? Have you played around with a wolf or something?" Da Qing pulled back, covering his nose.

"Wolf?" Zhu Hong frowned. "But the scent that hit my nostril is not wolf's. It's like..." Zhu Hong halted. "DiXing's." her eyes trembled, hoping something was wrong with her nostrils.

Zhao YunLan gulped. Everyone was waiting for someone to explain when a cracking noise echoed. Everyone whirled their head to the voice source. The monument slid aside, revealing a dark path to the underground passage.

"This..." Zhao YunLan was both relieved and tensed. Nobody had a chance to respond, but the ground shook as if the whole realm shooed them out of their land. "This is bad." He struggled to keep his balance.

"We must get out of this place." Zhao MingAn grabbed Shen YeZun into his hug.

"You meant jump inside?" Da Qing gulped, peering at the dark passage.

"Do we have another option?" Shen Wei strode to the passage. "Is everyone ready?" he asked.

"It's not like we have another option," Lin Jing answered.

Shen Wei did not take offense and jumped into "Alice's rabbit hole", sliding through the dark passage. The others followed behind him. Zhao MingAn lifted YeZun's and jumped into the hole, Zhang Shi took over Zhao XinChi's body, and Chu ShuZhi kept Guo ChangCheng hidden inside his embrace. Sha Ya hugged Zhu Hong and used herself as a body pillow when the lady almost landed on the hard ground.

"Are you alright?" Zhu Hong asked Sha Ya when she helped the lady stand up.

"Yes, don't worry." Sha Ya cleaned her clothes.

"How could I not?" Zhu Hong pouted. "You take care of me since we set our feet in this land."

As both ladies exchanged concerns, Zhu Jiu blinked in silence. Somehow, they both were oddly close. "Hong-er..." Zhu Jiu was about to reach Zhu Hong's shoulder when the earth shook again.

"This is bad." Zhao YunLan threw his gaze to scrutinize his surroundings. Darkness engulfed the entire tunnel, and the ground shivered as their feet pressed the inner layer of the earth's belly.

Shen Wei waved his hands, concentrating his power only to frown. "What?" Shen YongZheng asked.

"I can't use my power here." Shen Wei peered at his hands.

"That's the more reason why we should move faster." Sha Ya pulled Zhu Hong's wrist. "Come on." She ran before the others. Her intuition as the tomb raider was kicking.

"Let's go!" Zhao YunLan followed the lady.

Refused to spare some mercy, the earth around them crumbled. Stones fell like a downpour, challenging their effort to keep their head above their shoulders. Water squeezed through the ground capillaries, sweeping their feet from their footings.

Shen YongZheng spread his arms to maintain his balance while Zhang Shi used Zhao XinChi's walking stick to keep his foot steady on the ground. Shen Wei's agility helped him to reach the foremost line, cleaning up the way for the others. Zhao YunLan followed right behind him. Chu NianZhi and Chu ShuZhi cared for their comrades in the middle line, while Da Qing's agility helped the yashou to survive without bothering anyone.

Zhu Jiu pushed to get Zhu Hong, but the flood and stone raid stopped his attempt. Not to mention, he should help Zhang Shi. Although Shen YongZheng was right before the elder's side, he could not ignore the man who acted like his father. From his point of view, he witnessed how Sha Ya did her best to protect his fiance. Zhu Jiu clenched his jaws, regretting his uselessness.

Lin Jing tried to calculate his movement only to fail miserably. The leaking water coalesced on the ground, moving in a small spiral motion. "This is bad," the scientist gulped his panic.

"What?" Chu NianZhi frowned. Lin Jing did not reply, pointing his finger to the spiraling water. Chu NianZhi bent his eyes to the direction pointed and his eyes widened. The spiraling water was not only one but tens and maybe hundreds along the way. Not to mention the water debit increased every minute. Wait... The way... Chu NianZhi lifted his eyes, staring at the dark path before him. "Ge... In how long should we pass this tunnel again?"

"Two hours," Chu ShuZhi answered mindlessly.

"How long it took for us to reach the monument?"

"Almost one day and one night-" Chu ShuZhi froze. "This is bad..."

"I know, right?" Chu NianZhi pushed his feet, grabbing Lin Jing's hand.

"Wait... Wait!" Lin Jing screamed. "I can't run as fast as you guys."

"Move faster or we will die here." Chu NianZhi ignored the whine.

"NianZhi... Get Director Shen. Ask him what we should do with the distance and time limit. I'm afraid we can't leave this place without a solid plan." Chu ShuZhi glanced at Guo ChangCheng, holding his entire being to grab the young man and carrying Guo ChangCheng on his shoulder to fasten their pace.

"Do you think we have time to create a solid plan in this limited time?" Although they were twins, Chu NianZhi sometimes could not understand his brother's mind.

"Director Shen can do that," Chu ShuZhi insisted. Chu NianZhi glanced at the bulk man running beside him. His brother's faith in Shen Wei amazed him to the point he lost his words.

"Let me," Zhu Jiu volunteered. At least, that was the only thing he could do.

"Zhu Jiu, we can't use our ability here. You or I have no difference," Chu NianChi answered.

"But you must look after Scientist Lin, Commander. I'm free."

"All right. Be careful." Chu ShuZhi answered for his twin brother.

Zhu Jiu flexed his foot muscles and pushed them as fast as possible to reach Shen Wei. When he saw Zhao YunLan's figure, he called his childhood friend's name. Zhao YunLan stopped his track, whirling his body around. "What?"

"Commander Chu asked how we can go through this tunnel in two hours while we need almost two days to reach the center of this realm?" Zhu Jiu gasped for air.

"Nice question," Zhao YunLan stopped, wiping his sweat. As Zhao YunLan ceased his step, everyone stopped without command. "We spent so much time because we should deal with the demon beasts there. We don't have any meaningful obstacles here, so keep running."

"Okay..." Zhu Jiu's answer floated in the air when the ground cracked. Now, not only did the water level increase faster and the stone rain heavier, but another trouble emerged from the depth of the earth. green tendrils popped up, squeezing their way from the tight passages. "Uh... I don't think we'll leave this place that easy." He glanced at Zhao YunLan.

"Shen Wei." Zhao YunLan threw his eyes at his lover. Shen Wei clenched his jaws, he could not reply to the unspoken question.

"Director Shen..." Zhu Jiu stared at the man.

Shen Wei glanced at Zhang Shi but the elder lowered his gaze. Shen Wei took a deep breath. No one knew what to do in this situation it seemed. "We don't have any option but to run as soon as possible." He lifted his eyes to the man who ran beside Chu NianZhi. "Lin Jing. We can't use our power here. Do you have something you can use?"

"The sun ball..."

"That will make us blind." Shen YongZhen cut the opinion. "On the surface, the light can disperse in the open air but this tunnel is a different story."

"The light may be can stop the tendril but not the water. Besides, we can't afford to spend the precious time to close our eyes," Zhang Shi added.

"What time do we have now?" Zhao YunLan glanced at everyone.

"No more than one hour," Da Qing answered as he leaped to Zhao YunLan's side.

Shen YeZun clasped Zhao MingAn's arm. He did not say anything but his shaky fingers shouted his panic. Zhao MingAn lowered his eyes, racking his brain. He tried to remember every word Gwang Li told him. But nothing seemed helpful. Only one sentence that sounded odd in his ears at that time:

"If you want to know the truth. It's only you, Zhao MingAn who can lead them during their trip to the land of the four perils. Without you, they are bound to fail."

Zhao MingAn lifted his hand, releasing his newly found power slowly. "Professor Shen... Can you give me that?"

"What-" Shen YeZun's breath hitched when he saw brown fur grow thicker in Zhao MingAn's arm. "You can use your power?"

"Keep it down," Zhao MingAn put his forefinger on his lips. "My brother will kill me if he sees me use this power now."

"Then don't use it!"

"We need this power, Professor Shen. Now, please, give me the stone."

"For what?"

"I don't know. I feel that I need to hold it."

"I don't have it. You remember I gave the stone to my brother?"

"Darn," Zhao MingAn cursed. "Well, then... I don't have another option but to ask him."

"Are you nuts?" Shen YeZun grabbed Zhao MingAn's hand but got dragged instead.

"Director Shen," Zhao MingAn approached the man. "I need to borrow something."

"For what?" Shen Wei shifted his eyes to Zhao MingAn.

"Ah Ming... This is not the time to be stupid. We must hurry." Zhao YunLan pulled his hair backward. His low blood sugar level increased his blood pressure.

"It's just my guts, but like we know this realm will never allow someone to bring the stone out."

"Then what is the difference between you and me?" Shen Wei shook his head.

"Ah Ming, we don't have much time. I don't want to argue with you now. So focus on getting out of this place-" Zhao YunLan's words halted when animal fur grew thicker in Zhao MingAn's hand.

"Whoa! What was that?" Da Qing jumped backward. He would fall if Zhu Jiu missed him.

"Shhh!" Zhu Jiu pressed his forefinger to his lips.

"Shen Wei." Zhao YunLan did not take his eyes off his younger brother. What was so special about Zhao MingAn's mutation? How come this realm's power did not affect him? Shen Wei grabbed the stone, giving it to Zhao MingAn.

"Urgh..." Zhao MingAn groaned when his arm felt burnt. Not only did the fur grow thicker, but his fingers enlarged as sharp nails sprouted. The jewel glinted as if there was a circle of fire inside.

"What was that?" Shen YeZun's amazement did not fade when the blinding light flared from the stone. Everyone protected their eyes in many ways but when the light dispersed, what unfolded before them took their breath away. The jewel shone in Zhao MingAn's hand. The white light hit the round prism. Seven different wavelengths bent at different angles, splashing the entire tunnel with the color of a rainbow. And in a split second, every movement around them stopped as if frozen.

"What in the world?" half of the crowd was agape. Sha Ya touched the halted water drip. It's still as liquid as it should be, wetting her fingers.

"They are stop moving? But how come?" Lin Jing's brain could not find the sound reason why the whole tunnel was against Newton's laws of motion. Shen Wei took some distance from everyone around him and waved his hand. Everybody was agape when a lambent blue fire flared in his palm.

"No... No... This is impossible," Zhang Shi staggered.

"What?" Shen YongZheng caught his best friend's shoulders before he fell.

"That power... That power..."

"What with the power?" Shen YongZheng almost lost his patience.

"Ancient scroll wrote that Lord Tai has the power to control time..." Zhang Shi answered.

"I don't think time is stop moving," Shen YongZheng peeked at his watch. "Only the motion."

"That's because this is only a fragment of his strength. But how?" Zhang Shi stared at the jewel and then shifted his gaze to Zhao MingAn. "I see... So that's how it is..."

"What?"

"Zhao YunLan!" Shen YongZheng's question was crushed when Zhu Hong screamed. "Care to tell us what happened here?"

"Yes... Yes... Elder Zhang can see but I can't," Guo ChangCheng complained.

"Yeah... I think we deserve to know why Xiao Zhao smells like DiXing." Da Qing crossed his arms.

"Doesn't Zhao MingAn smell like DiXing because his DNA is mutated?" Shen YongZheng messaged his shoulder. "But I'm also curious. How can Zhao MingAn use his power here while the other DiXing can't?" he glanced at Zhao YunLan and Zhao MingAn.

"The Lord of Du Huang mountain has a brother. His name is Lord Tai." Zhang Shi interrupted Lin Jing's curiosity, ignoring the others' wonder.

"Why do I never know?" Zhao YunLan frowned. "Do you know anything about this Lord Tai?" he threw his gaze to Shen Wei.

"No..." Shen Wei answered after he thought for a moment. "I never heard anything about Lord KunLun's younger brother." he threw a glance at YeZun who kept shaking his head. 

"That's because Lord Tai was hiding." Zhang Shi lowered his gaze. "Soon after Lord of Du Huang mountain disappeared, Lord of Hua Kao mountain could not be found anywhere."

"Excuse me... I don't mean to be rude. But please... Don't brush us off!" Zhu Hong's temper rose as the leaders ignored them.

"I really want to explain, Hong Jie... But I don't think we should spend more time on something we can delay." Zhao MingAn reassured the angry lady.

"Xiao Zhao is right," Zhu Jiu meddled. "I think it's important for us to get out first."

"Zhu Jiu is right... We should get out of this place." Chu NianZhi swallowed his curiosity.

They all moved their feet soon after they reached the agreement. However,...

"What... What?" Da Qing jumped when a stone almost hit his head. "Whoa," he screamed. The sounds of water echoed as the drips poured, the stone fell, and the tendrils climbed out, chasing them.

"What happened?" Shen YeZun was panicked. "Why is everything moving again?"

Everyone stopped unconsciously when they checked on Da Qing. But once again, the motion halted. Zhao MingAn peered around. His sharp brain had an idea and doubt at the same time. Shen Wei grabbed the young man's hand holding the jewel and moved it. And yes. The motion returned every time the jewel moved.

"Well... It seems I can't move at all." Zhao MingAn snorted. "But that's okay... At least all of you can get out."

"Hell no!" Zhao YunLan clenched his fist, holding an urge to strangle his only brother here and there. "If you and the stone can't leave this realm, then there is no point for us to get the jewel in the first place."

"Zhao YunLan is right..." Shen Wei scrutinized his surroundings. 

"But as you see, I can't move." Zhao MingAn said in the middle of his irregular breath. It seemed he pushed himself to the limit.

"I think I have an idea."

"What?" Zhao YunLan rubbed his hair as he glanced at Shen Wei.

"I don't need to worry about Chu NianZhi, Chu ShuZhi, and my father's speed. Me too... I can take you out of this place with my power. However, Zhu Hong, Sha Ya, Lin Jing, Xiao Guo, and your father... I'm not sure about them." he glanced at the people he mentioned last.

"I can run fast in my snake form, but this tunnel is too small." Zhu Hong answered.

"I can run fast enough. Please, don't worry about me," Sha Ya answered.

"Then... I will move Uncle Zhao, Scientist Lin, Hong-Er, and Xiao Guo." Zhu Jiu calculated the remaining people. "After that... I only need to come and get you." he glanced at Zhao MingAn.

"Understood." Zhao YunLan did not wait for his brother's agreement. "Lin Jing."

"Wait! The sun ball's shine is blinding. I don't think this is a good idea." Zhang Shi stopped Lin Jing.

"Everyone can run first. I will throw the ball so the light will hit your back. you can cover your eyes without closing them." Zhao MingAn suggested.

"Then... Let's go!" Shen Wei lifted his hands, creating a black hole. Huge enough for him and Zhao YunLan to enter. He grabbed his lover's waist and jumped into the black hole.

"Our turn." Shen YongZheng took his best friend's shoulders and ran. Chu NianZhi, Sha Ya, and Zhu Hong followed him.

"I can't run that fast, but let me help you to reduce the distance." Lin Jing said as he chased Zhu Hong and Sha Ya.

"Take care of ChangCheng for me," Chu ShuZhi patted Zhu Jiu's arm.

"Sure," Zhu Jiu nodded. The situation was too tense. To the point, nobody cared about the intimate statement. Zhu Jiu took Guo ChangCheng's hand. And soon after Zhao MingAn threw the sun ball, Zhu Jiu took off along with the poor young man.

One by one, everyone reached the entrance of the realm of the four perils. This time, there was no screen-like layer divided between realms like the early stage. Everybody could see what was inside the tunnel if it was not too dark. Sang Zan smiled, and Wang Zheng staggered as if there was a heavy burden lifted from her shoulders. Zhao YunLan gasped for air, hands clenching around his head. Shen Wei caressed his lover's back, sending a comforting power along Zhao YunLan's backbones. Zhu Jiu threw Guo ChangCheng into Sang Zan's hug before he returned to the tunnel. Shen YongZheng then appeared with Zhao XinChi as Chu ShuZhi, and Chu NianZhi followed behind him. Not too long after, Zhu Jiu appeared again with Lin Jing and Zhu Hong in his hands. Sha Ya reached the door a few minutes later, pressing her stomach.

"Are you all right?" Wang Zheng approached the pained lady.

"Damn," she cursed. "It's been a while since I ran like that."

"Not bad for a tomb raider," Zhao YunLan lifted his thumbs.

"I'll get Zhao MingAn," Zhu Jiu wiped his sweat, ignoring the bicker.

"Zhu Ge..." Zhu Hong grabbed the man before he left.

"What?"

Zhu Hong stared at her lover's eyes, gulping back her words. "Nothing."

"I'll be back soon." Zhu Jiu caressed Zhu Hong's fingers around his arm before releasing his hand from her grip.

"Be careful," Hong shouted, dragging her feet toward the gate. Wang Zheng quickly grabbed her best friend, shaking her head.

"Don't worry about him. He will be just fine. If you want to worry... It would be best if you worried about Zhao MingAn." Sha Ya glanced into the dim tunnel that reflected in the gate.

"What happened with Xiao Zhao?" Lin Jing pushed the lady to keep talking,

"I don't know what happened to him, but that power is newfound power, right?" Sha Ya shifted her glance at Zhao YunLan. "To be able to hold his power stable for this long... He exhorts all of his strength."

Zhao YunLan scrutinized Sha Ya's eyes, but to his disappointment, he could not find a single hint that the lady had tried to get back at him for teasing her earlier. "What do you want to say?" his stomach acid churned around inside.

"He can collapse every time now." Everyone was stunned by Sha Ya's statement. Their brain was in the middle of processing the words' meaning when Zhao YunLan strode into the gate.

"Where are you going?" Zhang Shi asked.

"Get my brother. What else?" Zhao YunLan answered without turning around. This elder got on his nerves. Zhang Shi knew what happened to Zhao MingAn yet... Instead of telling him all, the elder kept him in the dark. For what reason?

"Don't you dare!" Zhang Shi, who sat on the stone nearby, stood up.

"Do you expect me to sit while my brother can collapse anytime?" Zhao YunLan raised his voice, glaring at the elder.

"Yes, I am." Zhang Shi answered. "No matter what happened to your brother, I can't let your father lose his both sons."

"Do you want to say I must stay here and do nothing?"

"Exactly."

"My father will never sit still if he is awake."

"Oh yes, he will."

"You are not him so stop talking as if you know him."

"That's because I know!" Zhang Shi shouted when Zhao YunLan turned back to the gate. "He respected your choice to stay behind at that time."

Zhao YunLan ceased his step when he heard that. "What did you say?" He bent his eyes to the yashou.

"Do you think he would not know that I was not his son?" Zhang Shi returned the question. "He was your father."

Zhao YunLan clenched his fists. His jaws tightened. For him to be swayed around by his younger brother... Was this karma for his ignorance of his father's feelings in his past life? His father may be harsh, but he has reasons for his actions.

"Ge..." Shen YeZun grabbed his elder brother's sleeve when Zhao YunLan cemented on the ground.

"He will be fine, Zhu Jiu will get him." Shen Wei patted his younger brother's head.

"Put this unknown problem aside," Zhu Hong said. "What happened to Zhao MingAn?"

"You seem not fazed by Xiao Zhao's power. "Lin Jing added. "Do you know about this?"

"And who is Lord Tai?" Da Qing chirped in.

"What are you sorry for?" Zhu Jiu draped Zhao MingAn's hand around his neck while wrapping the young man's waist with his. "I will run as fast as I can... Don't release your hand off me." Zhu Jiu said as he stared at the way out. He did not wait for the answer as he rode the light. And soon after Zhu Jiu pushed his toe, the noise returned. The water dripped, and the stones fell. the green tendrils chased them toward the entrance as the whole realm strived to retrieve the sacred item.

Zhang Shi was about to open his mouth to explain further when a crash noise echoed from the gate entrance. "What was that?" Everyone whipped their head to the sound source.

"Ah Ming!" Zhao YunLan screamed when he saw his brother appear.

"Ge!" Zhao MingAn smiled in relief. "Here, take the jewel." he passed the round crystal. But instead of joining his family, Zhao MingAn rushed back into the tunnel.

"Are you out of your mind?" Zhao YunLan pulled Zhao MingAn's arm.

"Zhu Ge." Zhao MingAn pointed his finger. Zhao YunLan and the others followed the finger and saw Zhu Jiu struggling to free himself from the green tendril that caught his feet. The tentacles crept along his leg and grasped his waist, pulling him into the darkness. As if that was not enough horror, the entrance was shrinking.

"This is bad," Zhao YunLan gulped. "Shen Wei!"

"He can't use his power in the tunnel, Ge."

"You don't have to remind me," Zhao YunLan grunted at his brother.

"What?" Shen Wei asked.

"Hold my hand," Zhao YunLan said as he strode into the tunnel. "Zhu Ge, take my hand." Zhao YunLan stretched his arm. Zhu Jiu dragged his body using his free foot as the footing, arm stretching to reach the offered hand. But the realm refused to let him go, pulling him back inside.

"Chief Zhao, let me," Chu NianZhi said. Shen Wei tugged Zhao YunLan's arm, dragging the man outside as Chu NianZhi jumped inside, catching Zhu Jiu's hand. Chu ShuZhi held his brother's other hand secure in his grasp while his other hand grabbed Shen Wei's offered hand. Zhao MingAn pushed the tunnel wall to keep it open, trying his best to buy more time. But despite their valiant effort, the realm broke their endeavor. The green tendril swathed Chu NianZhi and Chu ShuZhi's bodies, about to drag them when Zhu Jiu loosened his grip. "What are you doing?" Chu NianZhi grabbed the palm.

"Commander Chu, you have a wife and a soon-to-be-born child waiting for you... Please, just leave me."

"What?!" Everybody was in shock for different reasons.

"Are you out of your mind?" Chu NianZhi and Chu ShuZhi shouted in unison. "Why should I let you go?" Chu NianZhi asked Zhu Jiu.

"Why do I never know about your wife's pregnancy?" Chu ShuZhi asked his brother.

"You would know if you were not too busy with Officer Guo." Chu NianZhi huffed.

"But why didn't you just tell me?" Chu ShuZhi did not back down.

"Are we seriously discussing it now?" Chu NianZhi returned the question.

"Enough, both of you!" Shen YongZheng grunted. His eldest son pushed his power, yet these two men argued meaninglessly. Zhao YunLan supported his younger brother's fight to slow the tunnel shrinking process although it was Zhao MingAn who did the biggest part. Zhao MingAn could use his power, but his stamina deteriorated.

"What should we do?" Guo ChangCheng tugged Lin Jing's arm.

"I don't know. I running out of ideas." Lin Jing pulled his hair.

Sha Ya gritted her teeth before she shouted, "Mr. Zhu, Zhu Hong is pregnant! Do you really want to stop fighting?"

"Huh?" Lin Jing, Guo ChangCheng, and Da Qing whipped their head to Sha Ya.

"Officer Zhu, Sha Ya is right. Zhu Hong is pregnant." Wang Zheng ignored Zhu Hong's plea.

"Ah... So, Zhu Hong is pregnant." Shen YongZheng bopped his head. But then everybody stopped. They glanced at each other before it dawned on them.

"What?!"

"What?" Zhu Jiu was inside the tunnel. He could not hear anything. 

"Zhu Hong Jie is pregnant!" Zhao MingAn screamed as he pushed the tunnel entrance rim. "You can't leave her alone."

"You are kidding... Right?" Zhu Jiu asked. He was too stunned to the point he let the tendrils drag him, relying solely on Chu NianZhi's hold around his wrist. Chu ShuZhi's hand slipped when he struggled to hold his twin brother. Shen Wei released his grip around the tunnel rim to grab back the man's hand. Shen YongZheng jumped from his spot, reaching his eldest son while YeZun hugged his father's waist. 

"You heard that, right? What do you ask about?" Zhao YunLan grunted in the middle of exerting his strength.

"Do you think we have the luxury of time to joke around, Kid?" Zhang Shi raised his voice. "The creature we dealt with in the land of the four perils is a mind reader. It uses everyone's mind to manipulate us. That creature knew Zhu Hong was pregnant and used it against you!"

"What..." 

"Don't hesitate and drag your ass out of the tunnel, Soldier! Or your father will never forgive you."  Shen YongZheng slapped Zhu Jiu's conscience with the irrefutable truth. "He won't let you go even if he has to chase you to the deepest hell."

"Zhu Hong is pregnant... I will be a father..." Zhu Jiu muttered. "Commander, help me!" Zhu Jiu suddenly yelled. "I don't want to die."

"Geez took you long enough." Chu NianZhu scoffed. He pulled Zhu Jiu's hand while the man strived to release himself from the tendrils' clutch. Soon, everyone who only stood and watched joined the fight to free the entrapped soldier before the tunnel closed. And just in a nick of time, Zhu Jiu escaped...

Solar radiation was a general term for the electromagnetic radiation that was emitted by the sun. In simple meaning, the sunlight. The most magnificent strength in the universe that could come across space without any propagation media. Just like that, no power under the sun exceeded the strength of the human spirit.
